USB Audio DAC? - G Pad 8.3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does this work with a USB audio DAC such as the FiiO E7?

Tried it and it works!

Works as is or you had to do something first?
How big is the difference in quality of the sound?
Are you stock or rooted?
Thanks!

Works as is on stock. Not rooted. Sound quality depends on the USB audio DAC, the tablet just passes the audio.

Do you just plug your DAC into the USB connection and start listening or did\do you have to do something else first?
Do you have to do anything special to disconnect or do you just pull the USB cable or the DAC?
I have an Audioengine Dragonfly I'd like to try with my stock v500.
Thanks!

I just plugged it in and then started listening. It worked without configuring anything. Just pull the cable to disconnect.

I tried my Audioengine Dragonfly via USB but I can't get it to work. It lights up but no sound comes through. I've played with the USB settings on the G Pad but I haven't found anything that gives me sound. I'm using the same USB OTG cable that lets me read and write to flash drives.

Sorry to hear that. Not sure why. Perhaps the g pad only outputs certain bit depths that are compatible with certain usb dacs.

Thanks for your input.
What kind of cable are you using? USB OTG?
Which audio player are you using?
Are you stock? Upgraded to 4.4.2?
Thanks!

Yes, USB OTG cable, Stock ROM 4.4.2 (KOT49I.V50020b), Player: I think it does not matter, all audio output is redirected to DAC, but Poweramp, Google Play Music and MXPlayer works for me.

Thanks. I have 4.2.2 stock, USB OTG cable (works with flash drives), PowerAmp Pro, but I can't get audio through my Audioquest Dragonfly. In fact, when I plug in the Dragonfly it locks up the G Pad. I have to restart it to get it to function again.
Did you alter your USB settings on the G Pad?

Yes, I turn on USB debugging in Developer options (for rooting). But I think that it doesn't affect the DAC function. I guess that it depeds on which a USB controller DAC contains (and kernel supports). FiiO and Audioquest using different USB conreller. Fiio E-10 using TE7022L and Audioquest Dragonfly has TAS1020B . You should try conect ot by a powered USB hub..

Why not. Should be play.
AUX is analog and your phone 3,5mm outputs analog sound.
So hardware is capable for that.
Its like you listnenig headphones, only aux is included amplifiler.
And there is no differents cm7 and ordinary roms.

But headphones playng?

If your headphones work, but not the aux cable, then there are two options:
1. You audio cable is damaged. Try it with other phone.
2. The car radio of your friend may not be in the correct mode.

[Q] HTC One X USB OTG audio not working on CM 10.2

Can somebody please tell me what's wrong with USB audio out on this phone? It used to work on stock ROMs. I have a USB OTG cable connected to FiiO E17 (USB DAC), but the sound still comes out from the phone speaker. I have installed ALSA, and checked alsa_aplay -l in Terminal, the phone cannot recognize the DAC, but it works when I use the app "USB audio recorder pro". Are there some drivers missing in CM10.2 (Android 4.3.1)?

Turns out to be a bug in CM. You have to pay $10 to buy USB audio palyer pro to get it work. Upside is that this app can handle Hi-res up to 24bit 192khz.

USB Audio

Can anyone confirm that USB audio output works? Either with a DAC or car head unit will do. Just want to make sure...
Also interested in this question, as I found that USB audio does not work on Nexus 5 and 9 after update to 6.0.
My setup: Nexus 5/9 > USB DAC/amp > headphones. Works fine with 5.1.1.
Actually, it only works on 6.0 with USB Audio Player Pro app, which uses its own driver. It doesn't work with other apps (e.g. Spotify)

Got my 5x and it works with both my car head unit (Kenwood in Android hand mode) and FiiO USB DAC. Audio from all apps (e.g. Spotify, Youtube) works.

Good news! Does it work right out of the box, or does it require some settings?
I am trying to connect to my car via. iSimple Lightning connection to Aukey USB Type C (CB-A3). "The connection does Rapid Charge Nexus 5X"
How do I set the phone to send music from an app like: Amazon Music or Pandora, to the car though USB Type C port?

Any one else have any experience with the 5X and any other available DACs? I was looking at the Cambridge Audio XS but I haven't been able to find any mention of it working with 6.0.1
So i have hifimediy dac with usb-c to micro usb, and i cant get it working. I have xiaomi's adapter and some random chinese cable so i dont know how to fix it.

is usb audio enabled on zenfone 2?

hi
i recently bought a chord mojo as an amplifier for my headphones. i tested it on the zenfone 2 and i find out that i can only play audio if played through usb audio player pro but i couldn't play any audio through power amp, spotify, mx player pro, youtube, etc. i thought that usb audio is already enabled for lollipop so i was expecting that this available already for all sources. do i need to download additional drivers?
thanks

In order to enable usb audio, you have to choose AudioWizard\Smart mode then plugin usb audio in and play.

This didn't work unfortunately. My usb dac isn't picking up the sound
For me, it worked by using the afore mentioned setting and by plugging a cable from the headphone jack to my aux jack on my car deck.

Hello
Unfortunately, chord mojo doesn't have an aux in. It requires purely digital input.
Hello
I flashed android 6.0 and my usb dac is working marvelously now. I guess the stock rom from asus which i think is lollipop version 5.0.1 does not support usb audio.
Any more issues playing Spotify or anything else? I'm thinking of the exact combination of phone and DAC.

Does Pixel C support USB host mode for audio?

The Pixel C appears to have an outstanding screen and wireless support.
Thus, one would expect it to be one of the best options for streaming high quality video contents.
But high quality video streaming makes very little sense with low quality audio.
Thus, the obvious question is whether Pixel C does (will) support USB host mode for audio.
Android >= Lollipop 5.x has kernel support for USB host mode for audio.
Nexus 5, 6P, 7 (2012), 7 (2013), 10 all support USB host mode for audio.
All recent iOS devices support USB host mode for audio: just select the connected DAC in the system/audio menu.
Does Pixel C support USB host mode for audio? And, if so, how? How do you toggle between internal sound card and external DAC? Which mobile class-compliant DACs are known to work well with Pixel C?
Thanks for your feedback! Best, nbpf
It works when i connect my DAC via the USB C port so i guess the answer is yes.

Thanks clubtech, I very much appreciate your feedback! Is your DAC a self powered one or does it get power from the USB port? Best, nbpf

Thanks clubtech! How do you toggle between internal sound card and external DAC? Does the audio output default to the external device after you plug in the USB DAC or can you select which output is enabled/disabled in a menu? Thanks, nbpf
Just stumbled upon this thread. I have a Cambridge audio dacmagic xs working on my pixel C via a USB A to C adapter without any problems. All audio goes through it, and the android volume controls do still work. I can't see any setting to switch between audio outputs, it seems to be automatic on plugging/unplugging.
