I was wondering if there was anyway to use our tablet as a traditional tablet for using with a drawing app on PC as you would a traditional Wacom or Cintiq tablet?

Maybe you can try this app VirtualTablet Lite (S-Pen). It works ok but u cannot see on tablet screen what are you doing, only on pc witch was a bit hard for me, so i used Splashtop Remote Desktop
for drawing.

Thanks. I'm happy using CloverPaint as a standalone drawing package especially with the constant addition of new features that are making it comparable to a full windows drawing package. I just like exploring additional options so that I can make sure I'm getting the most of my tech. People pay £100s for a wacom tablet so having one I can use already included in this tablet is a great positive. I'll try out virtualtablet.

Hey folks,
Bit of a noob question I am sure, but if y'all could humor me...
Been using Webkey for a while to remotely control the EVO. I run Ubuntu and am looking for something that will give me direct-connection control over the EVO on-screen (mouse, keyboard, etc) without the lag that comes with Webkey or access over WiFi.
Any suggestions?

Not trying to be impatient, just curious.. does the lack of response mean there isn't anything better than Webkey?
Splashtop works fast on win7 I've not tried it on Linux cuz I can shell in manually but ill see if its compatible
Looks like its PC and Mac only its pretty quick for using it on win7 I can do anything from PC to phone or vice versa from anywhere as long as they are both online I use it to snag files for work when I'm out

Sorry, I just realized I may have phrased my question wrong.
I am looking for something that I can use primarily when my phone is right in front of me (instead of remotely when my phone is elsewhere.)
I am looking for the fastest possible interface up on screen (which I am assuming would be if I plugged it directly into my PC) This is primarily so I can use my monitor as the screen for a bigger display and my PC keyboard for faster typing.
If "shell-ing in manually" would accomplish this, can you point me in the right direction so I can learn about it?
I know, noob question. Thanks for all your help!
HDMI cable and a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard would probably be the fastest for right there at the PC or HD TV IMO

I did not even think about that! Like I said, NOOB question. Thanks for the reply! Got them on amazon order! =]
I've used droidmote on my tab. Try using your phone as a server. Great program on the tab.

Is there an app that acts like a play station 3 remote? it would be nice to use my tablet or galaxy nexus to control the PS3 for movies or other things like the browser and menu.
Search blue put droid in market ... I think that's the name

I think he means remote, not controller.
In any case, I'd like to know as well. So far I haven't had any luck.

Yes, just set the buttons accordingly to a real PS3 controller
It's actually quite funny how it works Using you phone as a controller and tablet as console really gives a "yo dawg..." Xzibit-ish impression. However, I noticed my phone battery dies really quickly using this app.

I used the blueputdroid app....it is ok...i wish it had a keyboard so you can type in the web browser or search fields. It has a gesture remote control where you just gesture around with your finger and it draws a line with it. but i am looking for something more that has more features.

Sweet thanks, I may have to give that a try. I'll need to root my device first I guess.
Share Keyboard and Mouse,
This app let's share your computer's mouse and keyboard with your One. I place my One in my dock next to my computer and i can move my mouse off the screen edge and on to my device (you choose which side). You now have full control through your computer (typing, swiping ,scrolling and home button). Unrooted phones must use USB only, rooted may use wifi or bluetooth.

Awesome find! Won't have to pick up my phone to write messages anymore.
On Windows 8 and 4.3 and mouse doesn't show up but still works. Kinda not useable though

I'm looking for an application with which I can control my One from PC (to have the screen of my device directly on my PC). there is something like that?
good
It is a good app
Anybody been able to get this to work with Linux at all?
Is there a Remote control/RDP/VNC/Whatever app that supports 1:1 S-pen to mouse movement?
I have tried many apps so far, but none of them supported hovering, just clicks (mouse was standing still until I clicked something).

doubt it... have you tried team viewer? cause they are the only ones who managed to perform a remote control into a Samsung phone from a pc and vice versa meaning they have intensively worked with touchwiz software libraries I guess so maybe they have s pen support !!

GoToMyPC seems to do just that. While hovering the S-Pen over my Note 3 it mirrored a mouse movement on my PC. It was a nice improvement, but not as great as I it could have been, since the resolution is way off and you still need to use movements to move the viewable area or be left with really tiny screen. And more importantly, GoToMyPC is extremely pricy to maintain - about 10$ a month... Really isn't worth it for me, but feel free to test it with the 30 days trial.
I'm also installing right now the VirtualTablet app. Remote controlling the PC isn't their main aim, but it does mention as a side feature of the program. It might prove to be helpful.
For everybody that is still looking for that: official RDP app from Microsoft does that job wonderfully. And if you are running AOSP based ROM, you can also hold S-pen button to right click.

I am just throwing this out here because I'm not sure if its what you want exactly, but it may help.
The webpage is whiteboard.ping.se/Android/Debian
Check it out, hope it helps. It may give some ideas if nothing else, and if it doesn't help, sorry in advance.

Lol, everyone learns things there own way. you would be surprised at the amount of work involved to get a fully functional NATIVE port going. my first took me almost a year on Allwinner Hardware, second 2 went pretty smooth and still took 6 months. the biggest issue you have with a device like a Galaxy is drivers, and UART access to catch were your kernels are crashing (and trust me they will) but you can kinda work around that by having your init scripts dump the log to SD(assuming it is working).
As for drivers? Wifi is fairly simple to get going, its usually just configuration changes. Touchpanel drivers need to be heavily modified to remove muli-touch(not completely..read on) as Xorg and linux in general does not play nice with multi-touch. you CAN use multi-touch to emulate scrolling (ex:2 fingers enables scrolling) and right click events, really it is completely possible to use the full chips capabilities you just need to code the events properly in the source. bluetooth I have not bothered to use but I see no issue with it. GPU!!!!! god I hate the GPU mess. that is the biggest hurdle. I got lucky on my tablets as I was able to port X11 Mali drivers from rockchip over to Allwinner and AMlogic. I use my first Allwinner Tablet daily paired with a cheap mini-keyboard,touchpanel from DX.com. Its not easy, by any means but its a challenge(for me an addiction) and once you get it running on the NAND and power up watching your system log on the LCD...it just gives you that feeling of satisfaction. I am currently in the preliminary stages right now for the Tab 7 working around the OTG issues but there is hope! yes the PMIC chosen by samsung sucks and is partly responsible for our OTG problems( the powering portion anyway since it can only output enough to run low amp devices until I can find the LDO registers for the Boost regulator) but I will not stop until I get it done. KNOX is a major issue at this time as usual but won't be in the long run. It is tough probing the devices registers using i2c-tools so I bailed on that one and ported a tool I used for another platform which Is working out nicely to get valuable data from the chips via a kernel module/userland combo.
I try to keep everyone updated but when there is nothing substantial to report you will hear from me when their is. Ubuntu will run one way or another.
