[Q] Do I Need Greenify? (Huawei Ascend P1 EmUI 1.6 B708) - Huawei Ascend P1

Hi, i am using my Huawei Ascend P1 for about a half year. The major problem of since the first time i use this device is the battery performance, i could charge it twice or three times a day. A couple days ago i heard people talk in XDA about Greenify that can hibernate some apps so can save P1 battery life. Is it true the P1 battery can save by this tiny size apps Greenify? How does it really works? Oh, by the way im using Emotions UI 1.6 B708. Sorry if my english not so good.. Thanks before

Greenify hibernates the apps which you select when you are not using them. It is handy and saves battery....
Are you rooted? because it the auto-hibernation system only works when you are rooted, otherwise, you will have to click on a button named Hibernate to complete this task

Hi @eatsleep , yes my device is rooted. i already use it now, and i found it very usefull. i almost hibernate apps that no need to run in background. just leave my mail, and social media apps running. And gues, my Ascend P1 was fully charged in 02:00 AM, now in 5:25 PM the battery still at 80%..whereas i use it a lot to open path, facebook, bbm, & HD games. love it very mucho.. Thanks to you too eatsleep

howdy cheppiroma, you can use greenify to save battery but use this app to save further more juice when the phone is idle Juice Defender is the one of the best battery savers for android.

[Q]how to get rid of background apps

well the title said it. i have HOX unlocked and rooted with stock rom , the problem is there is alot of apps running in the back ground sucking my batter dry and filling my ram for no reason. i know there is alot of task mangers apps on the market (im using Advanced Task Manager Pro) it close all the apps running in the backround every 1 min, thats good but i want to stop the problem at it source. is there is a way to block the apps from even running in the first place?
im using :
Ds Battery Saver Pro (to save battery life)
Set Cpu (to control CPU clock thus save battery life)
Go to all apps in settings click the app and then disable.

Should have, I've been using it for over a month and it did wonders for my battery. Did you hit the little plus button in the lower right hand corner. That's how you add apps that you want to "greenify".

[Q] Extend battery life

Is there any mod to extend battery duration?
Do changing my ROM will extend my battery duration?
I already shut wifi, data, bluetooth off when I don't use them and I get 9h30 of battery, while in school that's great but in vacation if I hang out with my friend it won't does it, oh yeah I never play outdoor only when I'm next to my charger and eco mode is always on.
Last question, is there a mod to charge my battery over 100% like BLX (but over 101%)?
I found this funny haha.

Use better battery stats or Wakelock detector and see what is draining when you arent using your phone. You didnt write how much screen on time you get, but you should be able to get 4-5h over a day unless you do any heavy stuff.
Use ds battery saver pro.... will be quite helpfull. Almost 50% more juice.

You use it and hibernate those apps that open when they shouldn''t (games that want to tell you about their newest update or promotion, email apps that wake up when you don't have them updating, etc.)? Greenify needs to be properly configured to hibernate the apps you intend to hibernate, it doesn't do anything on its own.

You could also use ES Task manager.I use it combined with Greenify and it works great. I only let autorun about 17 services. The rest are stoped and greenified.
Now, about battery life. I don't know how are you using your phone, but there are alot of factors :
- apps/services running in background
- 3g/4g signal strength. If you live in a weak signal area, your battery will drain faster. Also, having 3g/4g active all time will decrease battery faster.
- having push/email/sync active all time=battery drain as hell.
- setting the brightness to max = high battery drain
- gps active will drain battery
This is valid for all smartphones, not just the G. Only you can decide how to use your phone, but don't expect miracles.
My G gets to survive from morning untill dawn, with medium-heavy usage : 2-3hrs of browsing(facebook, messenger, other social apps) on 3G,a litle youtube, some gaming(depending on time - Real Racing3, wild blood, nova etc), 20-30 minutes talking, 50+ texts.
I get home in the evening with 20-30% battery. I find this very good.
Yes..... Battery backup of mobile depends on how yu use nd wat apps yu are using.... Wen ma mobile gets deepsleep mode il get around one whole day backup with whatsapp nd fb all tym, 2g data on, gaming for onee hr or more than that....

Personally, I clean the RAM like every 30 minutes and it's not a problem, GPS is not active I don't have anything to do with it, 4g is not installed yet in France so I don't use it, I deactive data when I don't use, sync is also deactivated. BT is the only wireless technology that is always on because I got a wirless headset. I play games when I'm home with my phone charged. DS Battery Saver works well, I got same battery life as you. Thanks for your answer.

I thought all those battery saving and Task Clearing apps were useless, because of the way that Android works.
Its always better to stay away from 'task killers'. Apps closed by task killers keep on popping up in the background, consuming even more battery.
Alternatively (I guess you are already rooted) to improve consumption while in sleep mode: use 'Autorun manager' (or similar app) to disable TRIGGERS (accountable for opening apps in the background)
And to improve it while actively using the phone: underclock cpu (underclocking from 1.5ghz to 1.35ghz doesn't effect performance and also significantly improves the battery life)
If you are willing to get your hands dirty with different ROMs and kernels, then you can even undervolt cpu (don't want to get into more details here)
For unrooted phone, there is a good app 'Quallcom battery guru' which is from the hardware SOC maker itself. it first learns from the user habits, then maintain phone accordingly.
I have just uninstalled Battery Guru, I used it for 1 month but I didn't see any difference, the app you suggested me sounds interesting, I will test it now.

my personal meaning about battery saver apps:
they all are crap.
choose a right kernel and adjust some settings and read some general tipps.
with this you drive better.

Tweaks for saving battery without compromising on performance

Battery is one of the things that's critical for your mobile's day to day use.
I have done my research on the things that has impact on mobile phone's battery life and I am going to jot down the stuff that can clearly save your battery.
1. Changing your scheduler.
By default Android devices comes with CFQ(COMPLETELY FAIR SCHEDULER) which is the worst, So please change it to SIO(SIMPLE I/O) scheduler, This scheduler has been voted as most stable and better for battery. It even solves the heating up issues.
NOTE: DON'T NEED TO OVERCLOCK OR UNDERCLOCK your device if your planning to use your device on a long term basis, Changing the scheduler will do fine
2: Install wake-lock detector
The wake-lock detector requires root, It gives you the idea of what rogue apps makes your device stay awake, Staying awake drains a lot of battery, Best thing to do is to uninstall the rogue apps.
3: Do not install Battery saving apps
Let it be any application, They claim they save your battery by monitoring the unnecessary background apps and closing them. They don't let the device to sleep, Let it be juice defender or you name it. Do not do that.
4: Install push notification fixer
Complaints about push notifications are solved by this APP, It resets your ping time, So that you don't spend unnecessary juice trying to connect to the server.
5: Disable google now
There are better apps which can tell you weather reports, If you feel like you are depending upon google now, Just disable "LOCATION HISTORY" and "LOCATION REPORTING".
6: Wiping cache and Dalvik cache
If you have restored apps using a back-up tool such as Titanium backup please make sure you wipe cache and wipe dalvik cache once you are done restoring, It just optimizes your apps.
7: FACEBOOK MESSENGER AND VIBER wakelocks
As useful as they are they cause so many wakelocks, Use default facebook app for messaging and VIBER app can be greenifed using GREENIFY. Whenever you need it you can use them, Once u open the app u can get the missed call info as well, So if your real hungry for battery do this.
8: USING GREENIFY
Frustrated about apps causing wakelocks, Install GREENIFY and forget it. The app will be available whenever u need them , But it won't run on the background thus saving battery.
9: Do not manually close APPS
Android has got it's own task manager which does a pretty good job, Each time you close and open an app each requires more juice, So let android handle with the task and stay relaxed
10: Turn your sync off
With push notifications on, You will get your twitter updates and hotmail without sync, The only app that requires sync is GMAIL, which you can do it manually
I am posting my screenshot as proof.
Thank's Bro

Hi all,
I don't know if it is a good thing or idea i'm doing everything but so far it is working for me and I would like to get your opinion about that method for using less battery, the fact is that I always use my phone on 2G and wifi and GPS is on only when using them but for the apps I always force stop them and they remain stopped unless I open the app once again and I found I gain on my battery usage with my battery lasting for 2 to 3 days depending on the usage (many sms, sometime facebook, viber and whatsapp, messenger) but I force stop when I finish.
Do you think it is a good idea to do like that??

Kernel is like the heart of the ROM bro, DEVS have taken good time finding out which is best suited for stability and battery life.
I am using SENTINEL ROM and i have the sentinel kernel that comes along with it, I don't want to experiment with it, Coz it just works fine.
The kernel that comes along with your ROM should work fine, In case you want to experiment with other kernels you can do so, But you will have to find the one that best suits your ROM :good:

Everytime you manually close your app, It will take more battery to load up the next time. The default android will watch your usage and kills it accordingly. It is best to leave it to android. Cause everytime you launch a app freshly there is some extra drain. So best to leave it to android.
I used manually clear the apps as well, But now I never do that, Guess what i get better battery :good:

Any app to hibernate A.wear apps?

I have downladed an app manager for Android Wear where you can see wich apps are runing in the back, how much RAM etc and you can Stop them.
The problem is that after a while they start again and this consumes RAM and Battery.
Someone knows an app like Greenify wich hibernates those apps you are not using in this moment as in a Smartphone?
It would reduces Battery drain...
Thanks

If you're already rooted and such you could always try sideloading Greenify. It does hibernate apps when rooted on the Moto 360 (at least it did on 5.0.2).

Should I even bother using Greenify?

I used to use Greenify when I had my Xperia Z3, but I don't know if I should keep it on my 5T, and if it affects performance or not (ex. reopening apps draining more battery or apps taking more time to open).
I have the 8 GB model, so I don't have any RAM problem.
Lately I've decided to try not using any battery "optimizer". I'm currently on OOS B2 with Flash Kernel 3.0..1 and I can easily get nearly two days if battery life with a "normal" use with around 4hrs of screen on time and 1~1.5% per hour while on idle overnight.
So, I think that overall that's not worth messing with Greenify. IMHO
About performances, in theory having to relaunch apps that have been terminated by Greenify would have some inpact on that. Guess that would be quite low, being the device so fast!
My advice would be see how it goes as it is and then try installing Greenify and see if you notice any improvement.
My two cents.

Greenify only hibernate apps, not terminate.
I use Greenify for Facebook and Messenger as they drain a lot of power. I would simply check your battery stats if there are apps that use a lot of power without active usage. If so, Greenify then. If not, it probably doesn't make a huge difference.
Greenify is no matter what, a must download app for me.. Until V30+ and OP5T.. Didn't need it anymore, because I didn't notice a different between installed it and not..
This is an easy one. No.
Deep sleep and idle battery drain seem pretty good on the OP5T so far, I wouldn't bother.
I still use it, nothing related to performance but because I personally do not need some of my apps to run in background. I only use them when I open them so I can save a bit of battery by keeping them hibernated until the next use.

As long as I have good cell signal, I can routinely get 8hrs of SoT with the stock One plus kernel from OpenBeta2. I do use Greenify for the social media apps though. Greenify will basically tell you if it will help or not by displaying apps that it thinks will benefit from hibernating. Although, if you aren't rooted, it basically isn't worth installing.
