[Q] sony xperia ion - Sony Xperia S, Acro S, Ion

I recently unlocked my sony xperia ion which was on rogers network. Now using it with another carrier. Every time i start up the phone the rogers logo shows up and also there are a whole bunch of rogers applications which i cannot delete but can only disable for now.
my question is can I remove all the rogers software and logo from this phone?
Sony Xperia Ion LT28i, Android Version 4.1.2 ; Build Number: 6.2.B.0.211 Country Canada
Thanking you in advance,
Ash

Your xperia ion is branded ,
You can uninstall these rogers apps using apps like android tuner (root access needed)
Or you can completly debrand the device by flashing a stock FTF
Here are some instructions
(warning this method will wipe your user data (not whats stored on device music pics nd stuff will stay, apps wont)
(you can disable this)
Download Flashtool
Download Xperia ION flashmode and fastboot drivers
Download global generic 6.2.B.0.11 FTF
Click the lightning like icon
Find the ftf you downloaded and
Folow flashtool instruction
(if it says hold menu button it means Volume down when it asks you to hold it and plug in)

remove branded software
Hiand thank you for your promy reply, greatly appreciate it. I downloaded the android tuner and played aroundfor a while, did not come aross any referene to rogers, am i looking in the wrong place, any specilfic location to look for this item. once more need some help before i decide to flash the phone with the stock software. thanks once again

Simply flash a stock FTF, don't bother with removing all these apps as they are bound to leave some unwanted data behind.

So quick note - i didnt knotice "rogers" correctly ,what i do mean about that now is apps that dont arent of use to you or apps that are killling your batter, aka facebook , youtube, those can be reinstalled as a user app later
in android tuner you can go to apps and select system at the bottom and just remove any System app that isnt needed, anything with a complicated name is obvously core system , e.g. SystemUI
stuff like FB proxy can be remoeved because its a part of timescape and id doubt you would use that, well it seems no one does

[Q] LT15i, out of options?

Details of handset:
LT15i, Android 2.3.3, Build 3.0.1.A.0.145, no SIM lock
I have this handset for about a year. It was never working smooth and I was surprised it was much worse than my desire when it comes to processing speed.
Well I've accepted it for the design reason.
Within time, processing speed degraded, phone been relatively cool at the back but was getting more and more often - restarts. Last week it crashed - after restart many icons and widgets were missing from he screen, most importantly some parts of the screens are not available any more to add there icon or widget - looks being occupied. When trying to hold-and drag -this eventually invisible element- normal menu appears to ad shortcut, widget etc...
Yesterday I've rooted phone, removed unwanted bloatware, but al problems remained [speed didn't increase]
Then I've checked can I unlock Boot Manager, by typing the service code - and I can't [no info in the menu]
My questions:
1. Is this all I can do about self-BM unlocking?
2. Can I still update old Adroid edition with flashtool-0.9.0.0 ?
2a. If yes what is [eventually] the best to update handset with
3. I found this info
http://www.androidauthority.com/xperia-arc-root-install-clockworkmod-recovery-77812/
it took me to this guide from this site
http://www.androidauthority.com/xpe...4-0-3-ics-mooded-aokp-aroma-custom-rom-93028/
Will I have benefit from installing CWM without unlocked BootLoader? Will I be able to install this ROM?
3a. Do I risk anything by copying this files directly into SYSTEM directory?
4. Can I do at this stage- "Factory reset" ? [after rooting]
5. Can I do at this stage- FOTA update? [after rooting]
6. What is gonna happen if I will try BL unlocking - even service menu says It is unlockable?
thank you for any help in sorting this one out
I have still 1 y of contract on this one
----------------------------------------------------------------------
After last long night I can answer some of this Q
1. More can be done
2. Yes
2. 4.0.4 ICS was the newest firmware I could find - and that could be rooted [important as I wanted to re-install apps from old System - with Titanium BAckup- and use handset without major interruption]
3. Installing apk didn't get me CWM - didn't try anything else
4. ?
5. From what I have read, FOTA after root is OK, but only if Sony's bloatware wasn't removed
6. ?

Don't know if you can fix it but there is a app on Play store can help called Button Savior may help?:fingers-crossed:
Try the pc companion repair function to reinstall a fresh Rom, it may sort out your problem or flashing a custom Rom what's based on gingerbread from the development thread

I don't have a friend who works at a phone repair store.
Can you tell me how he fixed it? I have exactly the same problem, and can't seem to find a solution.
Download a root browser (u don't need root just to browse around)
And go to system/app and look for SEMCSetupWizard, that apk on first boot allows the device to use the home button (like after original setup wizard)

[Q] Xperia Play, reinstall os?

So, after I've rooted my phone, I deleted some preinstalled apps and system parts like, when you slide the pad, the game menu appears, I've deleted that, and now, as a potential buyer showed up, I need to make it like new, but the factory reset won't return any apps and system parts.
So, is there a possibility like an os reinstall or something else, to get everything back as it if were just from the store?
-Thanks
Look for an original ROM file in .ftf format and update the phone using Flashtool. You will have all the preinstalled apps in a clean system.
You will probably find the .ftf file you need in the OP of this thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1589399

I think you would be better off flashing a stock.ftf via flashtool. Which will restore your phone to stock firmware. Faster and better IMHO. Make sure you flash the correct firmware for your device.
R800x or R800i

Infact you wouldnt even need to flash, I'm pretty sure Factory Reset would do it for you..

You are wrong, factory reset won't give you back your deleted system apps. Factory reset will just clear data and cache only.

What sync thingy?
How to remove your bloatware:
1. Root your phone (search the forum)
2. Install titanium backup from Google play
3.
4. Profit?
This message was brought to you from my Sony Xperia M C1905 using Tapatalk.
It would be interesting to know how a smartphone with apps customized for an italian operator (TIM) is sold on the Malaysian market ! Globalization...
Back in topic: you can unistall without being rooted MCAfee Security for sure (I did it). For the other apps you must be routed as Antrikos48 has pointed out. Rather than Titanium as he's suggesting I would recommend the procedure mentioned here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2542139 and you can add to the list:
-Virgilio
-119self
-187
-Tim App
-Cubomusica
-CuboVision
-TimCloud
I don't know anything about the other apps you're mentioning

Well, to understand if you can easily remove applications from your ROM or not depends on few things. Firstly if you want to remove a system app or a normal app. In case of system app, you will need ROOT to perform the action. Secondly, even removing bloatware can brick your phone and you will need to reflash firmware. This is because the ROM usually share files between system and user. So one program might be using system files too and removing that could damage your system files resulting in bricked phone. For that, first you will need to deodex your ROM. This simply means that your all applications would be stand alone and there would not be sharing between them. So removing one program would not affect any at all.
I would prefer to remove bloatware with titanium backup after my ROM is deodexed as it's easier and gives you more control. However, you will need to root your phone!
Good Luck
Hnk1 you started to shed some light on the debranding issue. Some questions to go farther with your explanation: 1) is it possible to check if the ROM is already deodexed ? 2) why I should have more control removing bloatware with Titanium ? If I select the "wrong" app and I remove it the problem is the same regardless how I removed it

1) Go to /system/app and check for any .odex files.

To wonder, if you have selected the normal file or not, this will come with experience and how ROM works.
I have even removed keyboards, camera, notes application, dialer and still my ROM booted. The files which are not in the app drawer are usually the files you must not remove unless you know about them ( like keyboards, extensions of facebook, picassa twitter or any other application which can be removed)
In Titanium backup, you can simply select which file you want to remove and you can even make a backup in case you need them later. You can also just freeze the app, in which case it will be installed but it wouldnot be functional at all. You wouldnot see it in app drawer even.
Remember to clear dalvik with titanium backup after deleting apps (esp system ones), this will free some extra space in Internal memory.
Good Luck
Antrikos48 & Hnk1, thanks for your directions.
To be honest, Hnkl, your "Good Luck" doesn't give me a lot of wish to go ahead in the process. Just in case...I guess that when you say "brick the phone" you mean "having a boot loop"; in this case, being routed but without a recovery (still with my bootloader blocked), which should be the procedure (if exists) ? Could you please just point me to the wright direction ?
