ANYONE have a clue how to do this without BRICKING???
NO NEED!!
I downgraded the aboot file to ZV8 , because I wanted TWRP
I read somewhere that there are really no differences other that aboot image from zva to zvc. That being said, I tried PA Rom, and it went thru fine!!!
Twrp is available in ZVC using Autorec.

Best way to downgrade is to use lg flash tools to tot back to zva.

I am unable to factory flash my LG LS970 (US Sprint) because for some reason it is reporting itself back to the LG Flash tool as a LG-E971. I must have done something to change the default prop file or something, how do I fix this. I can boot into recovery, ADB, etc. Just no sideload.
Use lgnpst and the zvb or zvc bin to fix the information then run the flash tool. That's what I had to do because I had the same error as you

So I just moved from the Evo Lte and all I want to do is get aosp running on the G2. I am on the kitkat ota update and have rooted using ioroot and have twrp installed with AutoRec. I tried flashing paranoid android and it just sent me into a bootloop... anything I'm missing?

Redid the whole process and instead of AOSP flashed a different zva rom from the dev section, now I get security error on boot and still bootlooping

You still having trouble? I'm not home right now but remember you from IRC. I believe at this point you have lost recovery and will have to .tot back

All fixed thanks to the guys on irc. I successfully flashed aosp after I downgraded my modem. I didn't find the system to be too stable so I just reverted by tot to ZVC with root and recovery. Now I'm just trying to get a custom kernel working, what can I do for that?

I have the vs985 version on tmobile. I downgraded from 12b to 10b using kdz method then rooted with stumproot. However I didn't use the bump method for twrp I used flashify for twrp. Everything is working well I've made backups and flashed several roms. Just curious did I do something wrong by not going the bump route and if so what could be the problems down the road?

One variant is unlocked and doesn't need anything bumped. I thought it was T-Mobile but I could be wrong.
You wouldn't have been able to flash things if anything wasn't right.
How do I do so?

@lambstone, download appropriate kk kdz / tot file for your model and flash using flash tool. ☺

What if I've never flashed the stock LP rom at all? I started with KK and flashed a LP custom rom via CWM

@lambstone, that should be fine. In fact, flashing kdz or tot files is an easy way to return to stock. You just need to know the correct firmware version and should have your download mode working.
