So I've had this issue for a long time now where my 3g radio will reset randomly (i think). What happens is that i lose 3g and the icon will disappear from the top bar. The phone makes a small sound (sounds like when you first power up the phone and it connects to the cell tower / 3g). Then about one second later it makes the same noise and then 3g turns back on. It takes it a few seconds to regain signal and then its usually fine. I know its the 3g because the problem stop when data is turned off, and also when wifi is on.
I've tried reflashing roms, reflashing my modem via odin, and even a factory reset. I can't seem to get this issue to go away. The only thing i can think of how i may have caused this issue was when upgrading to EC05 i forgot to include the pit file one time when flashing the modem with odin.
Any input or ideas would be greatly appreciated. I'm still learning when it comes to android so if I haven't tried it yet its because I either don't know about it or don't know how.

Its been happening to my phone for easily over a month now. And a friend of mine also has an epic that runs the exact same rom. Its also very annoying when playing music and videos cause it cuts out the sound to play the tone when it losses/gains 3g.

Does your friend's epic with the same ROM also.do this?
Do you BONSAI?
Actually I used to use bonsai. This problem started when I upgraded to i want to say 3.0. When the problem first started it also had a terrible battery glitch (when i restarted the phone i lost 50% battery. but a restore fixed this but left the 3g problem). I upgraded to 4.0 and the problem still hadn't been fixed. So thinking maybe it had something to do with the rom, I switched to Syndicate Rom Frozen and thats what I'm using now. My friend still has a DK28 Bonsai on his phone because I'd rather not somehow give him this annoying issue. But as of now his phone does not have this issue, so think it has to be my phone and not sprint.
Could flashing the modem .tar in odin without selecting the .pit file do this? I feel like it might have changed something it shouldn't. From what i recall it completed successfully without the .pit.
Edit: also thanks a lot for your help so far kenny
Very happy i got a quick response and that my thread wasnt just ignored.
Have you ever Odin'd back to stock DI18? Do that and let it update OTA to EC05 and see if that fixes it. Then flash your ROM and see if your issue returns.
Do you BONSAI?
When I switched from Bonsai to SRF I odin'd back to DI18/stock and it still didnt fix the issue. However I didn't let it update OTA and just odin'd from DI18 to EC05 then installed SRF. When i get the time to do all that ill give it a try doing the OTA and get back to you.

If you got the same issue with stock DI18 then you may have a flaky 3G radio in that phone. When you OTA maybe you should let Sprint look at it. You may get a new phone.
Odd problem is now happening to my wife's new GNEX. This phone is barely 2 weeks old, HAS NOT BEEN ROOTED, but now all of a sudden when you call her phone, not only can you not hear the person on the other end talking, (I have held each phone to each ear to test it) and it then restarts. I did a backup, then proceeded with a factory restart. After this was done, I tested it again, this time I could hear myself. 2nd test, it did it again, and is now only do this. Any ideas?
This phone will be going back to Best Buy tomorrow, but someone else may be having this problem as well. So what do you guys think might be happening to this phone?
Thanks in advance.

Happened to me twice (random) and some calls went straight to voice mail without ringing. Running yakju 4.1.1 rooted with UGLH1 baseband. Will revert back to default XXLF1 to see if it makes any difference.

Choices are quite limited. Being in Canada and with Wind, it has to be UGLA4 or later for data roaming bug fix...
I'll remain on UGLH1 and testing minfree profile tweak instead. (Now on aggressive setting)

i had a problem like that happen to me too...it started when someone called me and my phone just froze then rebooted itself, from then on everytime i got a call it would connect for a few secs (no audio) then reboot
i factory wiped and cleared everything...only to realize the solution was just to remove the sim card and put it back
try that...sometimes its the simplest solutions that work
Took it into best buy, and they swapped the sim card. Problem solved.

So I recently upgraded to 4.3 stock rom, rooted and I don't think I have Knox. Anyways everything works fine with the exception of phone calls. Whenever someone calls me and I pickup, it takes about 10 seconds before the speaker/mic turn on. There is also a delay in the speak/mic when I place calls. Any ideas on what happened? This is actually the second time I've upgraded to 4.3 and the last time I went back to 4.1.2 it fixed the same issue. I'm running version L710VPUCMK3

I flashed cnexus' ROM rooted/odexed.
I have this exact same issue.
I have two phones ported to Ting. Both running rooted stock 4.3 without Knox.
Ting has tried a few things on their end. Nothing has helped.
I use my phone for work and have annoyed a few people in other departments with the 'hello, (pause) hello?, pause um HELLO?' before either of us can hear the other. I've gotten to the point where I answer the phone, take a breath, put the phone to my ear, count to 2, actually say hello. Sometimes I still have to say 'hello' again.
Try turning off the noise reductioN feature
CNexus,
Your suggestion helped but did not solve the problem. Went from 3 hellos plus pauses to being heard on the 2nd hello.
Ring, ring, see the call pop up on screen, slide to answer, slight pause to verify the phone answered, hold to ear, hello, nothing hello? and I was heard.
Better, but not perfect. I could live with it if I have to.
Think I may flash through a few roms this weekend and then return to this one. See if it solves itself the rest of the way with another rom.
I've been having similar issues. Sometimes the other caller can hear me but I can't hear them and vice versa. And some calls are 'choppy'. I also get a big delay after dialing sometimes.
I flashed back to stock md4, I will report back later today after some phone call tests.
So I'm still having the same issues on md4, stock. It must be hardware related.
I'm having the exact same issues! Takes some getting used to.
I just odined back to stock md4, I'll check back after some calls
Not yet
Having a delay in answer and calls showing up also.
So far my calls have been much better after using Odin to go back to stock md4. I'm wary of flashing mk3 now.

Yeah I've never had a problem with stock MD4. Sadly I really like 4.3 and would hate to have to go back. Anyone have a link to just a stock fully functional MK3 modem I can try and force in through odin? I'm pretty green on this stuff but it's obviously just the modem that has an issue...or am I wrong here?
I flashed back to MOAR 8.0 this morning, I'm hoping the call issues don't return. I saw an Odin flashable modem in the development section so you might want to look there.

I actually found this about 15min ago and just did some testing with a friend and the delay is gone. I can now make and receive calls without any delay in the mic/speaker! The modem (as well as my rom) are from CNexus I really didn't think it was going to work but it did and I'm stoked! Thanks everyone for generating some talk on this odd problem.

I got the Galaxy Gear back in December so I had to make the jump to 4.3 on my T-mo Note 2. I flashed via ODIN and it got connected with the Gear and everything was pretty much fine, except that the phone was INCREDIBLY slow now that I was on a stock Samsung ROM. Well last month I was tired of it being slow and having absolutely awful battery life, so I rooted again and flashed Jedi Master X2, since it's the only custom ROM I could find that has Samsung's applications for the Gear and S-Pen. I had had a lot of success with Jedi X17-X20 and Jedi Master X1 so I thought X2 would be just as great.
Since I've put on Jedi Master X2 the phone has sped up a little, but there are a number of things that are very wrong with it. For one, batter life is even worse than the stock Samsung ROM. I'm lucky to get 6 hours with minimal usage. On older Jedi Master or Jedi X ROMs I would get at least 12-24 hours depending on how heavy usage was. Maybe my battery is shot, it's been over a year, but I'm not sure.
The second issue is the phone is still slow to react to input. Whether that input is hitting the power button, home button, menu or back keys, or touch screen, it takes at least 2 extra seconds to recognize input if the phone hasn't been touched in a few minutes or if I've been using it for more than 5min.
The third issue is the biggest: Every few minutes I will lose signal completely and it will say my SIM is not inserted. This is the most annoying problem I've ever had with this phone. I can't get through a single phone call without dropping signal, unless I'm on Wi-Fi calling and then there is an awful echo on the other person's end of their own voice.
Has anyone else had issues with updating to 4.3? How can I solve these issues? I really don't want to flash my phone AGAIN. I've tried re-flashing Jedi Master X2, and that didn't solve any of the problems.

1) Jedi Master is a work in progress with a very busy Dev. Try a custom kernel such as Agni from the N7105 forum and play with settings.
2) See above
3) Change SELinux to permissive for data drop issues. Can't tell you about sim card issue but it couldn't hurt in diagnosing the situation. Either do it in exposed or selinux changer from the market.

2 I would try agni kernel for note 2 7105 for better battery
3 Make sure apn settings are correct for signal loss issue

Guys, I have this one major issue with audio in my phone and its the rarest of the problems! The whole audio output stops completely. By completely, i mean even the receiver sound. completely dumb! cant hear anything if someone calls me. This has been occurring since a month or so. I am running on Cyanogenmod 11 M8. Even if i restart the phone its stays the same way. And all of sudden, randomly, the audio back again, working properly. when it goes dumb it stays like that for 5 6 hours. it happens quite often. this is throwing me off totally.
Device : Galaxy S3 SGH i747 - At&t
This problem happens:
1) when i am on call, suddenly it goes mute.
2) when the phone is kept idle for more than 3 4 hrs. So every morning its dumb when i wake up.
These are what I've tried and what I've found out:
1) I reverted back to stock 4.3 to check if its the problem with audio hardware. But in stock it worked perfectly and flawlessly. no issues there. SO its definitely got to do with cyanogenmod.
2) I flashed ktoonsez kernel on CM 11 M8, to check if its kernel problem. But its happening again. SO its not the problem with kernel.
3) I recently found out that if I wipe the cache from recovery, audio is back working. SO its definitely something in the cache thats messing with the audio. Some app may be.
this thread can be referred for more details on this issue:
http://forum.cyanogenmod.org/topic/81373-audio-stops-working-from-time-to-time/
and I dont know what else to do now. Ive tried uninstalling all the apps that access audio. But the problem still persists.
I really really need help fixing this one. PLEASE HELP.

I've had that issue a month or two ago but haven't seen it on the latest ROMs. I'm not sure what causes it but I would suggest you flash another ROM if CM messes up with your sound (or another version of CM).

Hi, Thanks for the response. I personally like CM and the extent of customization it offers. I actually dont mind switching cuz sound is bigger deal. Would you mind suggesting ROMs that are similar or comes closer to CM and also good at the same time? which ROM are you on?

Hey it got fixed in the latest nightly ( cm-11-20140721-NIGHTLY ). I had put it in cyanogenmod forum, I guess they read the issue and fixed it. Audio is perfectly fine now! Feels so great to use cyanogenmod again.
Thank you cyanogenmod!
I have this issue too but it doesn't have to do with the audio disappearing; it's simply gone from the get-go after clean flashing a ROM.
As you've said, stock FW and ROM works fine, but anything custom will just totally break it. Seems to be a very isolated issue with the phone itself, I've searched all over for people with the same problem but could never find anything.

Oh. It used to happen to me once or twice. No audio when I install CM, after it boots the first time. I think you should check the new nightly of 7/23. Looks like its fixed. They've fixed a number of audio issues over the last few nightlies. And I've always preferred CM over any other roms, so I've no idea about why it isn't working on other roms.

Thanks for the suggestion, I may as well give it a try since most everything else I've tried has had the same issue.
edit:
Clean flashed latest CM nightly, sound worked for around 2 minutes, then stopped when I plugged headphones in. Rebooted, got it to work via speakers again but then DSP manager force closed and left me without sound.
Rebooted into recovery, cleared cache, still no dice.
Going to try another clean flash to see if I can get sound to last a while longer.
edit 2: It seems to be screwed completely now, no sound after install + reboot.
