Really? Can you just flash the AT&T modem on top? I can't get the flash to even take at this point. I get an Auth error.

Right cause it is not built to run. Why would you want to do that anyways? ATT stock sucks and is full of bloat.

That's exactly why I want it. I want I747M (Bell) to run on my AT&T i747. I thought the phones were the same, there's no difference in the hardware as far as I can tell.
So i have a Galaxy S3 i747m, and was wondering if the"code name" for my phone is d2att?
I did a bit of reading around but couldnt dig up any info on how to find this out.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Essentially yes, it's actually a d2can but they are exactly the same phone. It is perfectly safe to use anything for d2att, you may have to change your apn to get data to work properly.

Just enter in your carrier's apn(s) and you're all set. In settings > more > mobile networks > apns
Really easy, use this app to back it up. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.riteshsahu.APNBackupRestore
Follow the instructions on the Google play description to install as system app using titanium. Then just restore after your done flashing your new Rom.

Modems do differ.
However, the physical radio chip that's inside either phone is exactly the same.
So just flash a modem using CWM/TWRP from the thread below that corresponds to your needs.

What I want to know about is the ENTIRE ROM, including the modem?
I just want to know why I'm getting the SBL2 error message when I use ODIN to do it.
Because your trying to flash the wrong stock Rom. Flash a stock Rom for the I747m and it should work. If you are trying to flash the correct stock Rom and get that error, I'm at a loss atm.

you're getting a bootloader error so i would back off trying to flash a different model's firmware otherwise you will continue to get this message.

Therefore the two devices are not the same (hardware wise).
I thought these devices came with unlocked bootloaders from factory (unlike the SGS2).
They are. If they weren't, root and customization would be almost impossible. The bootloader error doesn't signify a different hardware, just software implementation by the carrier. Have you applied the Google wallet fix, or anything that would change the device info on the build.drop?

Some ROMs (such as CyanogenMod) already have the APNs for all carriers. It automatically chooses which APNs based on what network you are using.

I was trying to update my bootloader so I could update to a current KK ROM. I don't know what happened but I cant even get into download mode with a jig. It takes a charge and is somewhat detected by windows but that's it.
Can someone please point me in the right direction for a possible fix?

Where did you get the bootloader for your phone? Are you sure it was for the i747m and not i747?

Flashed MK5 and lost my baseband and IMEI.
Tried another one and kuput.
Once you flash the mk5 bootloader, it cannot be downgraded. Any attempts to downgrade could brick the phone.
SInce your phone isn't booting, you may have to have it jtagged.
I have seen a thread for de-bricking but that looks like it is for the AT&T s3.

Why would it have lost my IMEI?
I saw a method that involved a 16gb SD card...just need to find more specific instructions....any ideas?
If not where can I find detailed instructions to do a jtag? I have access to the tools required.
I purchased an early upgrade to a Nexus 5 and would rather return it and return to my S3 so the sooner the better!
Thanks for the assist!
Jtagging is not simple because you would need to disassemble the phone in order to access the relevant points on the motherboard.
Did the phone boot after you flashed the mk5 bootloader? Did you flash another bootloader after that?
Which carrier is your phone with?
You could try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2549068
The MK5 bootloader is the stock 4.3 bootloader to Canadian carriers.

So the phone boots? If it does, did you try flashing an updated modem? Try an updated modem before de-bricking.
BTW, I was able to install several KK ROMs using the stock 4.1.2 bootloader. Upgrading wasn't necessary for Validus, Cyanfox, and CM11.

Loading an incorrect bootloader can result in a hard brick where the phone needs to be jtagged.
Hi I just unlocked the note 2 att version to work for t-mobile by downgrading to firmware 4.1.1. Now I can use the phone for t-mobile. I now want to root and have an updated t-mobile based custom rom installed.
To achieve this must I first odin flash t-mobile's official 4.1.3 (or 4.1.2) firmware and
then root and then install a t-mobile 4.1.3 (or 4.1.2) based custom rom?
Or can I simple root and just install a 4.1.3 (or 4.1.2) t-mobile custom rom?
Thanks!

you should be able to root 4.1.1 and I think you should be able to root it with the exynos abuse apk. if not cf auto root should handle it. then you can add recovery and flash any rom you wanted
I've done this too. I was wondering if international ROMs would work on the att note2 unlocked and on T-Mobile. I've searched around but I found it tough to get a strait answer. I will probably just try it and see but wanted to ask first.

If you can get any tmo service at all, it is unlocked. If you really want to try the unlock again, just flash a 4.1.1 modem appropriate for your device's model number. Don't flash modems across device models.
Are you certain you are in an area that has tmobile LTE service?

There is no need to unroot before flashing in Odin. One thing I highly recommend is backing up your data before flashing in case something goes wrong.

With Samsung phones, it is not always possible to revert to a previous bootloader. Unfortuantely, I don't know the Note 3 well enough to say whether it can or can't be done. Personally, I always run the latest modem and bootloader on a Samsung phone, regardless of whether it will run a stock or custom ROM.
