S5 Jump - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 4

So Im thinking of getting the s5 on the jump, problem is Im rooted and have data on apps like youtube that I dont want to lose. How can I go about updating to official 4.4.2 and still keep my data whether it be flashing the data after or staying with the data. And with triangle away, how do I do it if I would be on official 4.4.2 and not rooted

Btw I made a backup when I first rooted of 4.2.2, can I just flash that back, restore apps, triangle away and update, or how do I unroot?

Use titanium backup to backup your apps. Then use triangle away and flash back the mdl tar file. Should be good to go then.

[Q] Back to Stock Recovery Without Data Loss?

Is it possible to go back to the stock recovery without losing data? I would like to keep my TW backup up to date.
I don't remember if you can just ODIN the stock recovery and not have any issues. If anyone can chime in it would be nice.

You can reload the stock recovery without losing any data.
If you do not have it you can get an Odin flashable stock recovery here.

3. Ran triangle away.
4. Used su app to full unroot.

Make sure you're using stock kernel as well as stock recovery when you're using triangle away.

That reminds me. Its time to make a completely stock backup before I go flash crazy again. That total stock backup can save alot of time:thumbup: cheers gentlemen:beer:

If the counter continues to reset to 1 something is not 100 stock. I would recommend flashing a stock Odin package, root it, run triangleaway and see if that worked.

I had this problem with my s3. What I eventually did was triangle restore. Odin restore. Then before it rebooted for the first time, I went to recovery and wiped everything and factory reset it.
I had to battery pull before it rebooted.

you have to root FIRST, then you install a custom recovery..
Im going to root through custom recovery. Thats why I was using odin to root. I am on 4.1.2

Want to reset, will I have to root again?

My note 3 is currently rooted (with no recovery only the stock one) and it is on the stock rom. I want to start fresh in my note 3 again. Should I just do a factory reset from settings? Or would I have to odin the origin stock firmware?
Also would I have to root again if I did either of these? What do you recommend?

Should I odin to stock if I still want root?
Would it be better than just factory resetting? If I odin to stock and root again will it raise my knox counter again?

No the knox counter can't go past 0x1... Go to backup and reset in settings and do a factory data reset from there and it will erase everything including the internal memory card. ..That will bring you back to stock...

Ok so just do that and don't worry about odin to stock that wouldn't have any advantages would it?
I did disable and freeze some apps.

The apps you froze will be unfrozen. ..You take a risk evertime you odin of bricking your phone and you wear down the internal memory with every flash. ..so I don't see the benefits. ..

If you use a custom recovery to flash the ROM and Odin for the modem only, you should be ok to just restore a backup. If you were to take the official 4.4.2 update though, then no; you'd be stuck on 4.4.2 thanks to Knox.
