[MOD] CMX-Hold back to kill - TimeOut

************ONLY FOR CYANOGENMOD 10 9/14 nightly and newer**************
Here i present to you multiple flashable zip files to change your Hold back to kill timeout.
Do you think the stock one is too long? Then flash one with a shorter time
Dont like the short time? Flash one with longer time.
Its simple
Place your prefered delay time zip file on your sdcard.
Boot to recovery
Flash the zip.
Reboot.
Profit

Thanks so much for this. Will it work for any AOSP ROM that is based on CM10, like AOKP or Paranoid Android? This is probably the only mod I ever REALLY wanted for CM. AOKP's time out is just about right for me though. Thank you for sharing, greatly appreciated.

AOKP might cause a bootloop. NANDROID before flashing. Paranoid android from what i have been reading is based off of CM source, so it might work. My CM10 center clock mod worked on Paranoid android so im pretty sure this will as well.
ALSO to everyone using this, if it doesnt work, mount /system in recovery "mounts and storage" first then flash the zip. i just saw there was an error in my updater-script, nothing severe it just wont mount the system. And my upload speeds suck xD

Yep, bothered the hell outta me on my GS2 and i KNEW there was a way to change it... so i set forth and found what to edit all on my own. for once google couldnt help!

Care to share where you made the change?

Hmm got UI FC's and wasn't reading anything on my SIM card after flashing this on the newest Paranoid Android.

It's inside the framework-res.apk. it's an XML that needs editing then recompile. Framework-res.apk/Res/values/integers.XML.

Tablet UI. I was also seeing weird symbols popping up in the process, like when I cleared cache and fixed permissions to see if that would fix it, the prompt at boot up said something like "upgrading applications $% of $%" but for some reason couldn't upgrade any of them, so it just started right up, and immediately gave me a UI FC.

Yeah it's not going to work then. If you could upload your framework-Res.apk to drop box or something then pm me the link to it I can mod it to whatever delay you wish..

So i installed this on my Epic 4g touch(CM10) and it keeps bringing up the navigation bar on the bottom, and there is no way to disable it. Not sure why it would bring that up... Any ideas?

If u hold "back" on cm ROMs u can "kill" the app running. Some ppl prefer a shorter "long press" this will shorten that time.

I apologize for not updating this! I had just reinstalled windows after getting the ZeroAccess TrojanHorse in system32/services.exe.
And busy getting my next semester in order!
So in the near future I will have updates posted!
A new feature of cm10 is the low battery notification light. This blink rate can be edited. So if people want this edited post some led on times followed by led off times both in milliseconds.
For example 500,500
500 milliseconds on 500 milliseconds off. (This is what I use and love it) but post some ideas for different times and I'll make those edits too.

I know this is an old thread, but I cannot find an updated version of this. I am running CM 10.1 on my SIII and these ZIP files do not work. Is there a CM 10.1 version of this?

Use a build.prob editor and add the following....
1. com.qc.hdmi_out
2. ro.hdmi.enable
3. Reboot
4. Hit the thanks button if I helped

I tried it, and even pluged it in before a reboot but nothing shows up on screen. I see a little flickering, but nothing else.
Also, are you placing "com.qc.hdmi_out" under "Property Name" or "property Key"?
you may want to add "true" o your directions, they are not specific.

tried this and it worked. only issue that remains for me is when the MHL cable loses power or is unplugged, the only way to re-initiate the hdmi-out sync is with a reboot of the device. anyone know of a way to manually trigger a resync?

Can anyone post a flashable fix for this, I am at my uncles house and was planning on watching a movie with my cousins and then I realized my jb ROM doesn't have mhl support :/

For me, setting "ro.hdmi.enable=true" does the job. I tried your com.qc.hdmi_out line also, but found that I had difficulty getting consistent results, but devices may differ. ROMs earlier than 10.0.0 Stable often crashed after using HDMI, after pulling out the cable, even though the video worked well up till that point. But recent ROMs seems to be stable for me.
It is a frustration for me that those who (probably) know about the deeper aspects of this issue (why it was never turned on in the default configuration) never comment on it, so those who want it to work spend lots of time fiddling with it. On the teamhacksung site, a statement was made that it will never work because it involves proprietary code, but that was some time ago, so who knows? The fact that it works well seems to suggest that all the needed code is present and functional, so the mystery is why it is never addressed by the developers explicitly, or turned on by default, or have a setting to turn it on as Galaxy S had.

gonna upload the version with the navigation bar right now. I am also work on test build V5 with aroma, then might be able to get a final build. I also will have access to a 10TB server within a day or two hopefully, and will move test builds to a private part of it for only people like you who have already been testing to test new builds. Basically a sneak peek. Hope you like my rom!

Been running since test build 2 completely enjoying it. Battery life seems a lot longer add me to that list of testers? About to flash nav mod now

PM, and I can add you to the list of testers once I take the test builds private, also I have had a report of the navibar one not working right, so I will have to see if I did the right build, or I did something wrong when I get home.

What exactly is the navbar. I'm running the latest test build and having no issues. All connectivity is good batterly life superb. So far no hiccups lags or force closes

It is the home button, back button, recent apps, but on the bottom of the screen. I did not implement it right I believe. One of my testers for a while already msged me. It is basically V4 without OTA right now to be honest.

at least everything works. I just had to had a new device to a hard brick, but I might take a break from aroma to fix the navibar build.

Haven't touched CM10.1 nightly ROMs for a while. But the LED Notification stopped working, stayed on an older version of CM10.1 nightly.
Gonna try that when I get home. Also PA made it to this device. Also the Jedi mind trick Roms. So many options. Wow head's spinning.
Leaning towards CM10.1 though.

No signal, can't play video
I was using CM10.0. Updated CM10.1 with corresponding gapp.
-Can't register on cellular network anymore. Can't set AWS frequency in the factory testing mode.
-All of my Video apps start legging, play videos for a little while and quit after about a minute, say video format not supported. Even though the video is mp4 format and it was playing it before quitting.
How should fix it? Flash kernel? Which kernel should I use?

Had some problem with radio but I just had to update to the latest version and everything else looks fine

I tried to resist flashing this ROM but had to give in to temptation. Said to myself no more flashing when I got into boot issues with JMTJB6. Odin flashed stock and left it unrooted! Was happy...but then temptation. Happy I did it, rock solid, butter smooth, doesn't seem to have any lag.

Thanks that did the trick. I was going mad at why the LED notifications stopped working.
Also still on the non-touch recovery, 5.0.26 the one that needs the Darkmod scripts to wipe cache and do full installs.
Also had to turn sensor on/off before it actually worked. Read that from another post from someone that helped me.

I just had two random reboots, it might be related to bluetooth.
Scenario 1: Answered a phone call via steering wheel controls in the car. Phone reboots
Scenario 2: While connected left the car car. Phone reboots.

Flash video was not smooth for me. Even with latest Adobe update. But no MHL to TV support was the deal killer. Other than that it was fine.

No custom kernel. Flashed it days ago...reboot occurred today...Yes I did wait the 10 minutes after initial flash.
Is this a known problem? Would a custom kernel like uber kernel be more stable? I really like this ROM so far as is.

Flar2 elementalx kernel.
It saids it works like a glitch.
But it doenst really work as it should .it fails everytime u turn power off.
Which if u r doing a car install it doenst work property.
Find another solution, or pray some to code a working kernel for us who needed it.

What version of Android are you running? ElementalX and Glitch work.
I was using glitch on 4.4 however I just upgraded to Cyanogenmod 11 and neither ElementalX or glitch are working yet. Just a matter of time.
On 4.3 I used ElementalX on an older build and glitch on a later build of Cyanogenmod. Worked great. I like to use my Nexus with a USB DAC and OTG charging.
Best by far is Nexus 7 2012 with USBROM with Timur kernel. I have two of those working flawlessly.
