Is it normal for this phone not to deep sleep? I installed CPU spy and it shows that it always stays at 300mhz when the phone is idling. I have all apps closed in the recent apps tray and my phone is stock. Just wondering if this is normal. Thanks
I've been wondering the same thing... battery seems fine and none of my apps or keeping the device away, so I'm assuming it's the whole dt2w feature they have on it. Plus, they mention a "sleep mode" on the HTC website, so maybe they got their own thing or something...
Any info would be nice.
EDIT: Apparently, while charging the device, it will rarely go into deep sleep mode. After I took it off the charger, it was going into deep sleep exactly like it should.

Wanted to ask, how can we activate a 100% deep sleep, when we turn off the screen, when it's locked.
I want the phone to go deep sleep immediately, it sometimes works, sometimes not.
Sometimes it drains over 15-20% per night, sometimes no % at all.
What could be the prob?
the one usually causing deep sleep not working is the apps installed in your phone. that apps sometimes work without you noticing it is running in the background and this apps cause the phone to be still awake.
download Better Battery Stat and IIRC see if there's any partial wake lock IIRC
My galaxy S2 couldn't last a day and I tried my best to figure out what was the problem. Every time I go to class and put my phone in my pocket my battery would drain rapidly from 100->75%. I checked my CPU spy and apparently my phone wont go into deep sleep mode. No matter what ROM or kernel I use, my phone wont go into deep sleep mode unless I reboot my phone every time I unplug it from the charger... this irritates me so much.. Is there a way to activate deep sleep mode right away?
Are you using a sammy charger and cable? Some third-party chargers and cables cause a wakelock. Apple compatible products will almost always cause a wakelock.
I have found that plugging the phone into a running PC USB port, even for just a moment, will usually clear the wakelock.

Hi..I had a similar problem before, Im using cpu sleeper app, and installed CPU spy app to see if it was going into deep sleep. and that took care of it.Phone must be rooted.Good luck
Gsam from play store will help you find out why your phone isn't deep sleeping. It will show you what app or apps are holding your phone awake.

Anyone notice problems with the NY Times app recently? I noticed some high network activity out of my Note Pro over the last few days, and dug into it last night. Turned out, my tablet never went to deep sleep, and looking at battery usage, the NY Times app was behind only the OS and System.
I can't uninstall the NY Times, but I can revert to the factory image, and that seems to have put a halt to the network activity, and also the tablet is now going into deep sleep again. So it looks like it was an app update, somewhere along the way?
What's deep sleep as opposed to sleep as opposed to going into airplane mode?? Your posting about the ny times and sleep is difficult to understand.

Not difficult to understand at all, this is apparently a wake lock issue with the application.
Tapping the power button to turn off the screen puts the device in sleep mode but CPU speed still varies as background activity continues. Application processes can place wake locks on the CPU to keep it from going into deep sleep which is the lowest power consumption setting. A device that never goes into deep sleep will experience higher battery drain with the screen off for extended periods than one that does go into deep sleep. Sleep has nothing to do with airplane mode, which turns off all radios and has no direct impact on CPU.
First thing I would try with the NY Times app is turn off all notifications for it. Personally I don't use it and have it frozen so I can't verify the wake lock issue on my device.

Much better explanation than I could have given, thanks! So wish I could root my tablet (a Verizon...), feel like I'm trying to debug things with both hands tied behind my back!
So far, the NYT problem hasn't come back - can't freeze or uninstall it without root, but have removed it from Magazine UI and basically backed out all updates by restoring it to its factory image and clearing its data. BTW, it was set to only get updates every 4 hours. Obviously it had a different idea.
Yeah I hate it when apps get like that.
It's times like that where I'll use Greenify sparingly to push the misbehaving app into hibernation. Otherwise I'll just let android do it's thing.
A few days ago, I noticed the NY Times app only it's you view 10 articles for free every month. I was going to say, why not trash that garbage? It requires root, though, since it's actually a system app. That is just profoundly stupid.
At least Samsung didn't pick CNN as it's news app, amirite?
I'm on the US NG1 firmware on the Tab Pro 8.4 (all stock) and I seem to have this situation where CPU Cores #2 and #3 are always on, and always running at least 1.5GHz. In fact they seem locked at 1.5GHz (they don't seem to go faster or slower) which is very strange. Both CPU-Z and the "device info" screen of AnTuTu show evidence of this.
Any ideas?
I've already tried killing all programs/tasks/recent apps ... no change.
( A few days ago I had the issue where even when the tablet was idle (screen turned off) for several hours it was basically almost fully awake, and the main culprit was "Google Play Services" which used way more battery than even the SCREEN. Very weird. But after 2 days of this weird behaviour, it stopped and the tablet was able to stay in deep sleep most of the time in Idle )
Strange behaviour indeed...I have troubles with deep sleep to, but not related to the cores locked to max freq.
Try hard reset, and if it doesn't work, go for replacement. ..
I cleared Cache from Settings->Storage and did a cold boot (turn off, wait, then turn on)
The issue seems to be gone. I quickly opened each of my most-freq-used apps at least once ... then checked CPU-Z again, and it's still fine (CPU cores are sleeping).
So it's not one of my frequently used apps.
I'll probably check my Battery specs on a daily basis for the next little while to ensure it doesn't come back.
BTW are there any apps for unrooted phones which can detect wakelocks? All the ones I saw on the Play Store require Root to detect wakelocks
Since I already made several posts / topics regarding issues on my phone with deep sleep, I was able track down different issues and scenarios which prevented the phone from going into deep sleep.

Basically every now and then the "ProxyHandler" will get stuck after a reboot and prevent the phone from ever going into deep sleep.
Fix:
To temporarily fix this go into airplane mode and reboot again. Disable airplane mode after the reboot and use your phone until the next reboot
When the screen gets stuck at 60Hz
I wasn't able to figure out which service is keeping the device awake.
But I did track down that the 60Hz stuck-issue is also prevent the phone to going into deep sleep.
Fix:
Reboot the phone
I will update this post when new bugs get reported or figured out.
In my testing it doesn't seem like "Naptime" will fix or help with any of the issues.
Also in my testing it seems like "Naptime" in general doesn't do anything regarding battery drain / deep sleep.
So far I have been using BBS to track down most of the issues.
To use BBS on Android 12:
Install BBS
Grant all permissions
Run in adb: adb shell settings put global hidden_api_policy 1
Reboot phone
Everything except kernel wakelocks will work

I intend to do so. Will get released in one week for Pixel 6 Pro. So I still have to wait ;-)
Don't seem to have any issues with deep sleep, unlocked 512Gb version.

In general, Naptime, and similar apps, have not really been needed since Android 10. In my experience, they can do more harm than good, for what it's worth. A properly running OS with properly running apps shouldn't need apps like this nowadays. If you feel the need to use apps like this then something else is wrong. These types of apps only address the symptom, not the cause (Rocky Horror flashback ).

Does anyone know if poor signal strength prevents deep sleep or causes the phone to take longer into deep sleep?
Could it be that countries where the pixel is not official being sold somehow affect deep sleep?
It is weird because usually I am like 65% deep sleep while screen is off and 35% awake while screen is off.
Today I am in a country where the Pixel is also officially being sold (I actually bought it here) instead of my home country and I am like 95% in deep sleep and only 5% awake.

I remember when traveling to Europe my P5 (or P4 perhaps it was long ago) drained like 20% overnight while in the US, same programs same everything, it was loke 4 or 5%. So you might have something there.

Well US and EU are quite different (some brands/models even sell the same device as US model and as EU model). I think the frequency bands are different and maybe other things?
But if this is caused simply because I am in the neighbor country in which the P6 is not being officially sold...well **** google and my carrier then.
Has this issue been resolved?
