Dropped phone, now no signal - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

Yeah so I dropped my phone down the stairs and it destroyed the screen. :crying: So I bought a replacement and everything works now again except I have no service. It says Network unkown, signal -113, unknown mobile network typer, and out of service service state.
HELP!!! lol
thanks

Have you taken it back apart and checked the antenna connection yet?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app

yeah everything is hooked up, even took it BACK apart twice to make sure, the antenna goes up the right side to a board that looks like it connects to the removable piece at the top, it is plugged into the main board, even unplugged it and replugged it.

Does your phone show the correct imei? Defective sim card? Defective sim reader?

Yeah the IMEI is correct, the sim card works in my other phone. Any way to test the sim reader? It shows the correct phone number, and it will load my contacts.

I'm not sure how you can test the SIM reader. I was just listing a couple of things that may be causing the problem.

It is possible that your ribbon is not seated well. Have you checked that?

Which ribbon? I am pretty sure I plugged them all back in.

[Q] G2 SIM Slot acting up. Replace?

Tmobile G2. Started losing network every so often. Would need to reboot or sometimes switching to airplane mode and back would work. Then it just wouldnt work at all. Went to Tmobile store and they gave me a new SIM card. Tried that, and still no luck. SIM works fine in other phones.
I tried multiple cards, and they seem to work fine so long as I apply heavy pressure to (push down on) the card while using the phone. If I let go, the network drops within seconds. Must be the SIM slot itself..
Anyone ever replace the slot on a G2? I think it's soldered directly to the board, but I havent taken it apart yet. Hopefully it's just a few points that I can easily remove. Where can I get a replacement though? Anyone know parts that have matching solder poins?
yeah its soldered to the motherboard and unless you are amazing at soldering it will be tough, to top it off I've never seen one on ebay or amazon so you'll have to dig for one

I've been looking for the part too, had some luck just resoldering the old one, twice(!).
CAREFUL if you do this. AND DON'T push on the sim slot. This will wreck/crack the traces for the solder for the SIM holder itself. The holder is soldered to the surface of the MoBo. Mine (mobo) got damged on the second solder operation, some traces came off of the board. There is a place I found that will repair it for you for 89bux, but seems pricey to me.

looks like compatible sim holder

I'm going to order it (only 1 buk) and give it a whirl. Will post results.
what was the result?

[Q] Phone wont connect to network, HELP

So I cracked my phone's digitizer and payed $130 to a phone repair shop to get it fixed. So when I go to pick up my phone I pop in my sim card and turn on my phone, but as soon as it turned on it would show that it had no connection, tried multiple resets, and different roms, but nothing would work. My sim card works, and the phone can read the sim card properly. Can I fix this or is the phone antenna most likely damaged? If so, so I can go to the phone repair shop to report the damage they did.

You could obviously take it to them but it's possible that won't do any good. You could take the phone apart and at least verify that the antenna is connected properly, which I would assume it should be, but you never know....

[Q] No phone signal with internal antenna

Hi everyone, I got my phone about 3 weeks ago and worked well (rooted it, then flashed it with a rooted Brazillian rom) till 2 days back, I forgot to register the IMEI with my service provider (using a company phone number) and got my incoming and outgoing calls blocked, but I was still able to use data connection. I didnt give it much importance since I work out country and the nearest office is 3 hours away.
I was able to call using another SIM card (personal phone number) and register the IMEI with my other provider. Couple of hours after that, my signal went dead, I then tried several SIM cards and still no luck. Messing around afterwork, I connected the external antenna to the phone, and I got signal back! I left it on all night on my desk. Next morning came back, disconnected and lost signal again.
My companies SIM card is working well on other phones. The only problem I have is that I need the external antenna connected to get signal.
Has this happen to onyone else? Ive searched several forums with no luck.
--------------------------------
I did some testing and went to the cell tower thats in our camp and got a good signal.
Seems that my internel antenna is messed up or something is not right with the radio.
I dont want to open it until I go back to the city. Anyone knows how to check with an app or something?

Found out what caused my problem and gave it a very simple solution. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1273292)
The problem was that I plugged an external antenna that was a bit more thicker and ruined the internal contact that the internal antenna uses.
The solution was cutting a thin copper wire to 16.6cm long, plugging one end to the middle of the external antenna socket and folding the wire around the battery so it would touch it. Signal didnt go back to 100% but worked at about 90%.

Its seems as a very bad design error

No service Nexus 5x water damage

So I did what every phone owner dreads, I forgot my phone in my pocket and went swimming with it. I was swimming with it for about 5 minuets until I noticed it when I noticed it I immediately took the back cover off and unscrewed everything and put all of the components in rice and then put the rice and my phone into a vacuume chamber. I left it like that over night and found that the water killed the battery. So I ordered a new battery and stick it in my phone and surprisingly i turned it on and if started booting. After it turned on I noticed that out said it had no service, but other than that all of my sensors and hardware all work. I know that it is not the Sims card reader that is broken because it can still give me the sim card information when I put it in my phone. Could this be the antenna, or something else?
Could be so many things. You can check that your antenna is making good contact but it's also likely one of the radio chips fried.

Any idea where would the antenna connectors be?
Not on this phone. Maybe someone else does. There is usually prongs on a back door that need to make a connection.

So I cleaned all of the contacts with alcohol but to no avail. If it is one of my radio chips that is fried could I get a new motherboard?

Replacing the motherboard is usually close to the cost of buying a new device from what I've seen.
I recently upgraded my phone to android N when it came out a few days ago, so I decied to see what would happen when I put my sims card back into my phone. When I put it in my phone it showed that I had a few bars but didn't say anything like 4g or LTE. So I tried to make a call and it still doesn't work.
Is it still a hardware issue?

Note 2 N7105 not registering on network

Shouting out for any help.
I've got a Samsung Galaxy note 2 N7105.
About 9 months ago I replaced the motherboard with a secondhand board from a broken phone and all was good.
Last month I decided to listen to some music using headphones and it was very crackly, but improved if I squeezed the phone case.
Quick check on google and apparently its a common problem , so dismantled the phone (again) and cleaned everything up. Put it all back together and hey presto ! .. Audio was working fine... BUT then I noticed that I had no mobile signal.
Without a sim installed I have 3 or 4 bars, although I have no idea what network its getting that from !... When I put the sim back in, the bars disappear and I get the not registered on network error message.
I've tried automatic network selection and manual but it makes no difference.
I've dismantled the phone and made sure all the sockets and wires are where they should be but still cant get a mobile signal with a sim in.
Wifi works fine.
Any thoughts (apart from throw it away !).
Thanks in advance.
You could try to replace the SIM/SD card reader.
I recently replaced the mainboard on a Note 2 GT7105 only to be confronted with SIM card problems on that mainboard. It would not register my SIM card.
I have paid around 10€ including shipping for a new SIM/SD card reader and have now a working phone. Replacement is straight forward, look it up on youtube!
For the audio...I have exactly the same problem, cracking/distortion when using the headset...speaker is normal. I have tried all the suggestions I could find on google and have come to the conclusion it is a bad contact in the connector between the mainboard and headphone jack. To be more precise, the problem is on the mainboard side on my note as I replaced the headphone jack module...I have given up since. Really disappointed as I had invested in a new frame chassis and almost new display. I will use this phone as my GPS, this phone has a GPS fix within 10sec in my house! Never seen such a powerful GPS in a phone...
