Titanium backup, but you gotta have root. Otherwise use helium
Sent from my LG-V500 using Tapatalk

I'm with EdenGottlieb on Titanium backup (and helium for non-root).
With Titanium, you only need the free version. It backs up all apps/data/settings/game saves etc, and on top of that, you can save settings too (e.g. Wi-Fi access points, bluetooth pairings, profiles, country, language, dictionary etc). It's a bit fiddly to use as there's a load of other random tools, all you ever need though is Backup + System Apps.
Once it backs up all the apps you want, it will save all of it in one folder (usually Titanium Backup) and you have the facility to stick it on SD.
Once you get a new device, root it, install Titanium Backup, slip in the SD card and install everything you backed up (apps will automatically be re-connected to play store and all app data restored). Simples!

Downloaded helium free app, connecting To the to the Pc and got it started.
Started backup and selected external sd card, it started the back and now still backuping the last app 59/59
What is wrong

[Q] SD Card clean up

Ok, so i was looking at my storage usage today, and im a little curious. i am currently using 8.7gb of my SD Card. Only 13 apps are on my SD Card, I have 5 movies, only about 30 songs, about 100 photos, i do have 3 nandroid back up files, (i deleted 2 old ones) what the hell is sucking up all my storage?... lol If i go to my sd card via es file explorer or on my PC, i have a ton of folders but a lot of them are empty. Any ideas? Im tempted to wipe the card and put back only the things i want, but im not sure what on there is there as a dependency for something else.... lol
Like to know as well

Disk Usage will help you identify what's using up all your space
SD Maid will identify unused folders etc
Nandroid backups use up alot of space ; games have downloadable data which take up anywhere from 50mb-1.x GB...
Sandisk have a sd card management app ; try searching the market for it or try out one of the ones alread ysuggested ; Haven't tried them personally.
Thanks guys I'm gonna look into it, I forgot about game data I have 6 games, I'm willing to bet that's where its all at.
Edit - That SD Maid is a bad a** little program!!

I had root uninstaller and it had an option to auto backup everything I uninstalled. I accidentally stumbled over the backups and noticed they were 2.5 gb of apks...
If you use or used root uninstaller check sd/ root uninstaller/ autobackup.
Also check the sd card for game data leftovers.

The easiest n safest way for me..
1. Backup your old apps using titanium backups
2. Copy titanium backups folder from your old SD card to the new one..
3. Insert your new SD card to your phone, restore it using titanium back up.
4. done.
thnx

Another good method is to create a backup folder on your PC and copy your old sdcard there. Then copy it back to the new card. This has the advantage of giving you a backup in case of failure of the sdcard or the Titanium Backup not restoring properly.
Of course, if you're really OCD like I am, you could do both!

if i backup all my files on the new micro, its will save the apps on it ?
No, it will save the data on it (if present). You will have to reinstall your apps, or restore them using Titanium Backup, as mentioned before. You will need root access for the last one.
someone have "titanuimback" zip for cwm ?
I don't know if there's titanium backup .zip..
why u can't install titanium backup...?
Is your device already rooted..?
yes, but i cant install it, its says that i dont have enough memory.
but i have 90Mb free.
OMG
I just move the apps on SDcard to phone (by link2SD)
and then i tried to install titanuim backup and it worked.
i guess that its installing on SDcard.
bb, thnx for the helpers
I would use my external memory card reader that I use for my Mac and plug it into my eePC and the built in sd card reader. Then all I do is copy the files straight over to my new card no problem. If I didn't have that option then I might make a disk image of my current sd card and have my new card be restored from that image. That way I could be sure that the new card is EXACTLY the same as my old one. I've burned disk images like this so I can install Linux onto a computer and I don't see why it won't work for an sd card.

Restored many apps with no issues at all. Just set titanium to work off the external sd and was on my way.

[TIP] How to regain [possible a lot of] internal storage

I tried something tonight and I think discovered a great way to regain internal storage. I had about 1gb left internally and I couldn't figure our what was taking up so much data because it didnt seem like even my largest apps added up to what I was using. The steps reclaimed 7.5gb of space. Thats a lot of "unknown" data if you ask me.
WARNING: THIS WILL ERASE EVERYTHING ON YOUR INTERNAL STORAGE. Make sure photos, music, downloads, etc. are backed up elsewhere first. (I.e. I had to go into this knowing I would lose all of my Spotify music.)
1) Make a titanium backup of everything just in case something goes wrong with step 2.
2) Reboot into recovery and make a nandroid backup that you SAVE TO EXTERNAL SD Card.
3) Wipe data. I know on TWRP it will show a red triangle and remind you you don't really have to do this. Go forth boldly knowing you have a nandroid.
4) restore your nandroid.
5) reboot and see how much more internal data you have now (share here if it worked.
If anyone smarter than me at android (who are many) and can offer additional input on this, please feel obliged. I can honestly say this worked for me and my phone works just perfectly (and looks thinner doing it )

I also apologize if this is the oldest trick in the book and I have only just discovered it. But, I know I'm no the only one still figuring out android.
Sent from my SGH-I747 using Tapatalk 2
I think that wipe removes everything from your internal SD card.
And I could be wrong, but I don't think restoring a nandroid will restore EVERYTHING that was on your SD card. Like pictures, music, etc.
So I'd probably suggest backing up the entire SD card contents as well.
Or another option is to use SD Maid to wipe all your old, unused cache/etc. It's safer and won't remove anything you would have wanted to keep.

Here is the "Pro" version unlocker. I bought it and like it a lot for cleaning up ROM's of old junk.

Dumb question: you need to save your nandroid to your EXTERNAL SD card for this to work right? Otherwise it will wipe your nandroid too?

I've used SD Maid (Pro) and it does give some "relief" to storage. However, I've still not achieved nearly the results I have with this method. Also, you have to select each cleaning method one at a time and it can take a while to process results. It's definitely a great option for folks afraid to take this plunge
Thank you for pointing out about the pics and storage. I'll add a warning to rhe OP. I keep all that stuff on my external card (as most probably do), so I didn't think about it. The Downloads folder is something people might want to back up as well.

So just so you know, what you have done here is delete all of your data. Titanium backup only backs up the actual APK and installer data. Any larger games like ones from gameloft and allot of others will now need to download their resources again so once you play those games the space will be taken up again.

That's a valid point, to an extent. I did not have any games like that installed when I did this and went from 1gb free to 8.5. I gave up playing games like that on my phone because 1) I have an iPad and 2) 16gb is not enough room for that stuff. There is an app (think it's called GL to SD) that will put the extra data those games download onto your external sd card. The biggest thing I lost is Spotify, but I don't mind resyncing that app if it means I just made a heck of a lot more room for more music.
I'm not a developer and I'm not an expert at Android by any means. I do know, however, that my phone runs perfectly fine after this experiment. I think all OS's do this memory cluttering to an extent. I know Windows does and I remember my iPhone doing it as well. I used to restore once in a while just for this reason. So, I don't pretend to know all the reasons, but I can speak from multiple experiences.

The paid version of Titanium is very powerful. There are settings you can adjust. An odd game I enjoy is paradise Island. I have moved it from an HD2 to a pos gb G2x and on to the GS3. You need a large sdsc card.
Just wanted to confirm that I had the same issue and used a similar process to regain my internal storage. In my case, I had deleted a large amount of files (~7gb's) and never gained the space back in available internal storage.. So I went into recovery (I'm using TWRP) and wiped internal storage, system, data, cache.. Then just installed a fresh rom (stored on my ext sd), bingo, everything seems to be perfect again.
+1 for titanium pro, this helps me keep my storage in check
Or, you download Disk Usage from the app store, run it and delete the largest folders which are typically TWRP or CWM backups....thus saving all of your other data.
And everyone that does this will gain back all of their storage, because they will be completely wiping their internal storage.

I think I figured out one of the problems
Facebook and google both "sync" their galleries with my phone. thus putting upto 9 gigs of pictures onto my internal storage, without anyway of removing them (so it seems???) I can't disable them in the gallery, and I can't find their physical existence in "my files"
Is there anyway to remove them if they've accidentally synced??
although currently it's too late as I just did a wipe to my phone, deselecting those options I figured I would pose the question and hopefully give someone some food for thought.
EDIT: I also assume this is the same with any other account based app that syncs large file directories. (maybe twitter?)

[Q] Folder Mount + Titanium Backup: How to?

When using apps2sd and then Titanium Backup, my apps backed up fine with all their data.
Now, when using Folder Mount instead of apps2sd, I'm not sure it's actually backing up the mounted folders.
Is anyone else using this combo?
What method should I use to ensure a complete backup?
The idea that comes to mind is to unpin a folder, copy the contents back into internal memory, do a Titanium Backup for that one app, then delete the data, and repin the folder in Folder Mount. Repeat for every app that uses Folder Mount.
Would this work? Seems awfully tedious...
My other thought is to manually backup all the mounted folders to an external drive, then when I need to restore one of those apps with Titanium, I copy the backed up folder into its correct place in internal memory, and then use Folder Mount to transfer the data back to the SD Card.
???

My suggestion is to get a USB OTG and seperate usb memory device to back up to. The way that FolderMount works, Ti Backup shouldnt be able to differenciate the folders that are mounted from those on the internal memory. The only issue I could think of was slow read and write speeds copying to and from the same memory device and storage issues if the apps take up a substancial amount of space.
My USB OTG should hopefully be here by the weekend for me to test.

I've already sent you a pm regarding this, but let me just post here as well for the benefit of others:
I agree with your logic regarding Folder Mount, but what alerted me was that when using apps2sd and backing up the only large app I had at the time (The Bard's Tale - 3.5gb), it took quite some time to back up.
Now, after re downloading Horn - 2.7gb and mounting its data, then using Titanium... The app backed up in a couple of seconds.
I browsed to my backup folder using ES File Explorer and selected all files with Horn in the file name... They only amounted to just over 8mb in total!
Either I'm missing something here, or the mounted folders wasn't included in the back up...
