Hi folks....This is my first post, so be gentle with me !!- Sorry if this post is in the wrong section?
I recently rooted my Alcatel 4030x running 4.1 using Framaroot. I have Superuser, Busybox, Titanium Backup installed too.
Everything has been fine, but this morning upon a regular reboot, the device is stuck on the Alcatel splash screen.
I discovered how to get into Sys Restore, but didnt know what option to choose. Out of desperation , I chose factory reset, which was fruitless.Next I tried restoring from the extrernal SD card, but I think the reset wiped the card.
What should I do now? Does Framaroot create a back up somewhere, or will I have to re-install a ROM (Will need guidance!)
Bit lost what to do, I have only had the phone for 2 months, so any help would be appreciated
Cheers:good:
If your bootloader is working try wiping all cache and factory reset. If your problem persists again download a stock rom or custom rom and flash your device.

Cheers Nikhilrj.
I have tried all options in the retore menu, but no joy...
My computer can see the handset in Device Manager, so I am guessing the phones not toast yet....
I am fine with reinstalling Windows, but I haven't a clue with Droid, but I'll give it a whirl.
Apart from custom or stock roms, what other software/files will I need?- one of the options was installing from ADB?
I am guessing everything I need will be here on XDA somewhere?
Any further hints or tips would be great...
Thanks again
You need to flash custom recovery first before installing roms. Download a custom recovery for your phone and try to flash it in bootloader. If it fails, try using odin. First check whether your download mode is working fine. Power off, wait for few seconds.. press power on button, volume up and the home button.(just like you did it load boot menu. In this case you are pressing volume up instead of down). If thats working fine. Then download odin.:thumbup:

Mmm I think I get you...Should I save the custom recovery to the SD card and select it from the boot menu?
Will have a look now for the custom recovery.
Cheers
Yes. You must imsert it to external sd card.

If the phone is not booting, then the external SD (SD 1) wont mount? I have found a root and cwm recovery (.img files) and placed them on the card in a folder. The folder is not there when I go to it ....(other folders are showing )
Is the SD card listed the internal (SD 0)?
No. The external sd card should mount even if you are not able to power it on and you should be able to see all the files and folders. Try it again. Go to bootloader-external storage- and check in the folder or you said your computer is detecting your phone.right? Then try using odin. Hope you know how to use odin or I will assist you.before that check it again

Hi .
You mention Odin? I have been lead to believe this is for Samsung only? My handset is an Alcatel S Pop 4030x.

I have been following closely the G2 rom development threads and up to now everything has gone well.
If you want to install Virtous new roms you must install the new PC101.img first.
As didnt want to setup a ADB enabled PC again, I just followed these steps.
1-Ensure you already have a 4 way reboot rom (Recovery, hot restart, restart, and bootloader).
2-Download the new PC101.img to the root dir of your minisd card. Be prepared with a PC and minisd card reader. Or prepare another sdcard with any rom.
3-Reboot phone into bootloader. Be sure the PC101,img is on the minisd installed on your phone.
4-You will be in the bootload-reset-etc menu (the white menu). Select bootload.
This will flash your phone with the new PC101.img. You will see a small vertical line filling up as it flashes.
5-When finished, it will prompt you to reboot your phone. Do so.
6-You will see the green HTC logo, just let it there for 3 minutes and dont panic, you still have to install a rom. Pull battery.
7-Now swap the minisdcard with the card that contains the rom (Unity works great). Install battery and push the on button while pressing volume down to go to Clockwork recovery mode.
8-Install rom. No need to wipe as the new PC101.img formatted the internal 4Gb ram.
Thats it, hope it works.Worked for me.
I thought the file had to be pc10img.zip?

I would chance to say that it has to be renamed to capital letters, as in runs in a 'nix environment.
My phone was rooted and I did a backup before flashing it to a starburst v1.7 rom. I did everything correct and now my phone just keeps doing a soft reboot every 10 seconds no matter what.
When I tried to restore it from the CWM recovery screen it says "error sd card not mounted", so therefore I can't even restore. I've done the rooting and flashing soo many times on my other android phone right before I switched to Sprint.
Is there anything I can do?
Thanks
Ddownload a .tar file and flash stick rom and kernal and try again?
Did u access cwm manually? Try to use rom manager off the market see what happen. Internal sd or external sd u talking about? When u access to cwm mount and storage check there too.

Hello,
I had this same problem, just go back to stock using Odin & you will be good to go. You can also trying updating to the latest clockword- that has worked for me before as well.
There were some rushed CWM builds released. You may want to try a newer release

In cmw, there is an option to mount the phone to a computer, i cant recall where it is in this version. After selecting it, connect your phone to your computer, and move your backup from ur sd card to the phones internal memory, and then restore it from internal memory.

Call me a noob. I was on a CM10.1 ROM, and wanted to try out a new TW ROM. I installed TWRP 2.4.1.0 last week, where as before was running CWR recovery.
So this is my first time using TWRP. I rebooted from CM10.1 into recovery, was always told to wipe data, factory reset, wipe cache, wipe davlik. I always do those three things, but also read going from CM10 back to TW is good idea to wipe internal as well. I did that.
Now I go to flash my ROM, that I downloaded and put on sd/card earlier today at the office. I go to install, and there is nothing on the sd/card, it's empty ? WTF did I do ? :crying:

if you do a data wipe it only wipes internal sdcard not external. so if you have all your stuff on external it should be there. unless you wiped external by accident.
here is the link for sd card fix file is at bottom of first post. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=36873319&postcount=1
you wiped your internal sd card
so the only thing you can do now is using odin to flash a stock rom and start from stratch (root and flash new rom again)
or if you made a nandroid in your external sd, restore it in recovery.
What you did was format data with your sd card on the phone that will definitely will wipe everything. And I hqve the same experience that you had so next time I recommend you take out your sd card out

Get your sd card out from your phone. I don't what kind of computer you have but if it doesnt suport your sd card because of the size you have tou used a card adaptor its like the ones the ise on camera's
I am screwed.
#1 I don't have an external sd/card, only what the phone came with. #2 If I go buy one, what type of adapter do they make, where an sd/card fits into a portable USB stick ?
My computer is my custom built gaming rig, no sd/card adapter on that beast, I don't think ? Unless on my motherboard ?
Best buy or any store can help you out. But you said you have only the one that came with the phone if you have a secon phone or any think that you can put it and just to open it and put the files inside that will help you or do the odin file

Other option. Get a cheap mini SD. Flash cwm recovery. mount ext SD in cwm and transfer file from computer to ext SD through cwm. Wish twrp had that option.

I installed ParanoidRom and everything was going fine till my phone did not start and went into bootloop.I'm really worried,i don't know what to do.
I've gone into recovery and wiped everything from cache to sd card but nothing seems to help.I have tried re-flashing boot.img and recovery.zip files but nothing works.I tried downloading stock RUU for my device but could not find the right one.
I want to flash another custom ROM but i don't know how to do it without access to SD card.SD card does not show up in my computer. It shows up only if i start my phone and change from "charge only" to "disk drive" but since i can't boot into my phone that option is closed. Is there any way to install the ROM from the zip file on my computer?
I have tried extracting the contents of the ROM zip file to the fastboot folder and flashing the boot.img but it gives a BootMagic check fail error.

Why are you still trying with that rom?
Custom roms are sometimes bad, its happened to me 2 times one after the other....theyre just too buggy to work.
also putting stuff on microsd card from phone is kinda....stupid. just use the microsd card adapter for pcs they always hand out one along with the micro.
Download ANOTHER custom rom (there are many better ones than paranoid...foxhound or rootbox are good. Not cyanogen they still need to make a complete version for s3).
And FACTORY RESET/FORMAT EVERYTHING and then flash from rom package. Why bother flashing boot image?

Plus theres no reason to be worried if ur phone is stuck in bootloop. Bootloop saves phones not kills them. If it can't run the os (custom rom)....well it just can't. Take off the battery and re insert, at least it wont run out of battery life.
Then when uve got everything ready along with rom on sd card just boot in recovery mode and do what i told you earlier. If sdcard is a problem i remember there was an option in clockwork to have the rom pushed to the phone from the pc just like what happens when u root with odin...

I'm using the boot image found in the zip file of PAC ROM.When i flash this boot image it first sends boot but there's and error when it tries to write boot.
I was using the command fastboot flash boot boot.img but that was giving an error so i tried using another command, fasboot flash system boot.img and there was no error this time.So i typed the command fastboot reboot and went into recovery to open CWM recovery and chose install zip from sd card,i chose the zip file but it gave an error and did not install.I don't know what to do.Looks lik my phone is done.

Are you going mad? What the hell is pac rom? Are you fixated with paranoid android? All they have are.dropdown windows like tablets...not really very useful. Get a MORE popular rom, and more stable. Try aokp.
And dont flash just the bootimage. Flash it ALL. Reset everythung to factory and install FULL rom...at this point its obvious.the problem of the paranoid rom doesnt rely in bootimage...maybe its kernel.
So:
Intstall new rom + new kernel(just to be sure its not kernel problem).

And only image files can be flashed and there is only one image file in the zip file called boot.img

dont get sensitive i was trying to help. What i meant was:
"Good sir, would it not be wiser to stop flashing bits of roms and instead flash all of it through cwm?
It does, in fact, seem to me that your downloaded rom/roms appear to be broken or somewhat buggy, perhaps flashing some evem MORE popular roms that the already very popular pac rom would fix the problem, thus liberating all of us from the madness you cell-phone is causing and making it's user happy once more"

As mentioned in many posts, usually I make backup before flashing any rom. With Philz 5.15, I was able to make backup of DN3 version 1, 2 and 3. Problem started after installation of DN3 version 3.1. Whenever I try to make backup in Philz, it simply doesn't make any backup and goes to usual menu. I have still 15 Gb space in ext SD card and 6 Gb in phone memory. Any sugesstions?
To elaborate further, problem started when during installation of DN3 v3.1, option of full wipe in aroma was enabled. This led to phone being stuck in Samsung logo boot loop. With difficulty came out of this boot loop. Then found that cannot make backup either via philz or rom manager etc
Even tried TWRP flashing and it also gave following error message
E: error opening /data/data/com.android.settings
E: Error :too many open files
Ok problem sorted after trial and error technique. Problem was that with each flashing, lot of application data remained in data partition despite usual wipes ands even factory resets. So after formating internal drive and re flashing was able to make back up with twrp
