Hey Guys,
I rooted my e980 a while back and got rid of all that pesky ATT bloatware, ESPECIALLY att address book....since then I wanted to update my phone so I un-rooted and did a factory reset, however the address book did not come back with the factory reset...I think that is the only thing missing and preventing me from doing the update...any ideas how to get it back?
Thanks in advance!

Hey,
I am wondering if the same rooting processes work after i install T-Mobile's newest update via KIES that came out on Sept 10,.I think its called T999UVALI5
The reason is because when I re-rooted my phone after T-Mobile's first update (the update that removed universal search), the phone was laggy when in recovery mode and when deleting programs in titanium backup.
If anyone has re-rooted with the new update, can you tell me what root method you used and if it is laggy in the same respect as mine was?
Thanks a lot for your help
does anyone know anything about this?

Hasn't changed. I have the needed tools in my signature if you are looking for them.
[Have seen this in other forums but wasn't sure if the solutions there applied to the S4]
Anyways, the only thing I've done on my S4 is 1) sim-unlock the device via (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2282683) and 2) root the device via KIES.
I have not installed any custom firmware or whatnot, I've only done the above 2. When I try to hit System Update, I get the message "Your device has been modified. Software updates are not available."
I even ran Triangle Away to bring my counter back down to 0 (even if I didn't install any custom firmware) and I'm still getting this error. Does anyone have any solutions?
Should I unroot the device and will that bring it back to normal?
Thanks in advance!
It's because you rooted your phone

Just flash a new ROM. As software updates become available the devs will base ROMs off of the latest update.

no updates
I got the same message. I removed root and tried to update and got the same thing. I was wondering if a factory reset would restore my updates.

Try using Triangle-Away.
In triangle away there is an option to disable root for a minute or so when booting, this will have the stock rom think its not rooted, enabling software updates.
same issue
I had the same issue. I had rooted my phone and got that message when trying to update OTA.
I really wanted the ability to put apps on the sd card from the phone itself and not have to use some fancy app to do it for me and make symbolic links (Linux stuff)
What I did was goto settings-accounts-backup and reset- and selected factory data reset.
This completely returns your phone to stock like it came out of the box. afterward I didn't get the message but I kept getting server communication errors so I connected my phone through usb to kies and it is doing the firmware upgrade as I type and OMFG is it the slowest ****ing thing I have ever had the misfortune to do. Its been on for about 3 hours and its only at 42%
And strangely my phone is still completely usable while this is going on.
Wait, is the update available for the T-Mobile devices now?

Does anyone know if it works?
I've just rooted my phone a few days ago, and removed some Sumsang and t-mobile bloatware, and that message appeared.
Thanks in advance.
Anyone of us will be answer. Soon as an update is released. But in order to get an update, you MUST be completely stock, down to the bloatware.
your system has been modified
Hi, I have successfully installed cynogen mod 10.1 nightly. And I again restored my original 4.1.2 but now when I trying to check OTA update it says "your system has been modified, software update is not available. Please please please help me.

You need to Odin back to totally stock. Use Triangle Away to clear your flash counter.

Hello brother, I guess there is some misunderstanding regarding device model. My question is for my samsung note 10.1 GT-N8000 . Should I follow the same steps to get back my original system ? Please suggest. Thanks.
Seems like you should be asking this question in right forum then.
Im having the same issue after using triangle away. Everything says official and flash count is at 0. Any ideas? Also, with flash count set at 0 and everything listed as official, does this mean i will be ok for warranty? Im having an issue with my touchscreen working and the Tmobile place had to send me a new phone
Edit: Done a factory reset after using triangle away and i got the "Your device is up to date." Message. Still somewhat worried about warranty though.

If you have used Triangle away and flash counter shows 0 plus everything show "Official" you shouldn't have a problem
Wow I had never seen that before... I'm totally stock though...

The link provided is for T-Mobile GS4 only, please do not try it on any device other than T-Mobile GS4. You will need to find similar procedure for your device. I would recommend looking into the specific device forum.

Hello community, I have looked for the stock Samsung s3 I747 AT&T firmware. I have found it but its a download from Hotfile, which has been shut down. I was wondering if the android forums could provide me with the Stock firmware? I plan on using Odin3 in installing the firmware. This is why I am wanting to do this, it appears I am stuck on edge network. I have manually set the phone to use 4g and 3g it still reverts back to edge. This occurred after I updated to 4.3, so my plan is to install stock firmware and re-do the 4.3 update maybe something went wrong somewhere during the update. If you have other suggestions other than trying to install the initial stock firmware, I am open to anything.

You'll have to have a look in development. Since you already took the 4.3 update, you can no longer "start with stock and redo the update". You will hard brick. AT&T was not nice enough to provide an ODIN flashable 4.3 rom. In development or general is a custom recovery flashable ROM that should help you out, but that is assuming you have a rooted and custom recovery phone. If not, there should be someone along to help.

Re-installing the stock update probably wouldn't help me anyhow. This phone has had a IMEI repair, assuming this is the problem now.
The phone, after a re-boot will do 4g, well at least it shows the 4g emblem, then shortly after it will go to edge. Some people I talked to said it could be a weak antenna or some other hardware issue. I think it has to do with the IMEI repair! Well I guess this phone is garbage, its a shame, it looks brand new, my fault for going the craigslist route
When you say IMEI repair, you mean the IMEI was injected into the phone using NV writer?

Yes. I did not do this myself.
However, I did find another program well actually two programs, QCN Generator and DanX which I created a back up and injected the IMEI number into my back up QCN bin myself. With no luck I am still a 2g AT&T user.
I am thinking that the original QCN back up (the initial) was corrupted or something.
Is there anyway to rebuild a QCN? lets say, someone has a back up of a Sammy g3, and I injected my IMEI to a spare QCN. Does that make any sense? sorry still learning, I have learned this with in 24hrs, I am a Xbox 360 Rooter, not an android guru.
I bought the phone from craigslist, which was a bad idea in the first place. So I am now stuck with this paper weight, I have managed to get this phone in at least a working state. I wish to get 3 or 4g back on the phone. I can re-boot it will show 4g with 3 bars then will drop to one and go back up to 3 bars, then drop to 2,1 then it will then automatically switch to edge. I know this is a 4g area, maybe not LTE, but 4g. I have changed APN settings, also manually set the phone to GSM and WCMDA, Still working on it.
Hello
Im trying to use the ZACT Samsung Galaxy 3 on Straighttalk. ST says the phone is active and the number has been ported. Part of that activation process was performing a factory reset. Since then, the ZaCT software constantly tries to update, which is impossible, as ZACT no longer exists. Everytime I try to call or text, the update wants to be enabled, blocking my use of the phone. I am hopeful that removing the ZACT software will fix the problem. Thanks in advance for any help.

Thanks, but does phone need to be rooted first?
Hi everyone! I need some help or guidance here. I think I may know why this is happening but not sure . I'll explain in detail below:
Anyway, so the long awaited Lollipop was apparently released on April 7th for the T-Mobile LG G3. I've been waiting for it for a while just as many other probably have been. Well, none of the updates ever showed up on my phone via OTA or the LGMobile Support Tool.
The only thing I can think of as to why this MIGHT be happening to me (unless nobody else has been able to update yet because T-Mobile delayed the update) is because my IMEI has been reflashed to a Galaxy Note 2. However, I'm not sure that a different IMEI on my phone would prevent it from being updated since the firmware is obviously still a D851 LG firmware...
My phone is NOT rooted. It's all stock by the way.
Anyway, I guess what I need to know is:
1) Has everyone else with the T-Mobile Lg G3 been able to successfully update to Lollipop yet?
2) Will the different IMEI on my phone affect whether or not my phone is detectable as a D851 G3?
Thanks everyone in advance!
Bump. Anybody?
I'm really not sure that IMEI have any effect on the update center , have you tried to do a factory reset ?
another thing I can think of is just root your device and install a stable fast stock rom that uses LP on it ( like cloudy ).

Yeah I'm not sure it does either. I talked to a friend of mine that works at T-Mobile and he said a mismatched IMEI shouldn't make a difference. However, worst case scenario I'll have to manually flash it to Lollipo once the official ROM has been uploaded somewhere on the internet. I haven't tried to do a factory reset. Not positive on this but I think the IMEI is stored in memory that won't change whether it's factory reset or not especially since the original one was wiped and replaced.
I'll try to stick to the stock ROMs on this phone to avoid any issues with the custom stuff. Although, I was never able to successfully tether via WiFi on this phone. It works via USB cable. Still annoying hehe.

There is already a firmware on the forum: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2785089
I don't know if you can do this guide though since you never rooted your phone, better if you ask there.

Thanks for the link. I don't think the OP has the D851 Lollipo version uploaded. I only saw it for D855. I guess I'll just wait until everyone else gets the official update and flash it manually. From what it sounds like people have been having issues minor issues with Lollipop anyway. Maybe that's why T-Mobile is delaying the OTA updates. Who knows
