My M7 never once had a protector on it, and the screen is still pristine.

my note 3 screen got scratched when I put it in my pocket with my keys so just because it's gorilla glass doesn't mean crap. And I'm sure you can browse through xda to find many different people that have had gorilla glass fail for them.
Plus, the feeling of tempered glass is much more solid than a regular screen protector and you will barely even notice it's there. it doesn't hurt to protect the device and i'll never understand why people like to question other people's want to protect something they paid good money for...

I saw a Zagg at Best Buy for $29. Worth it? I know i do not want to scratch the screen.
I've been going back & forth whether or not I should get one as well. I tend to see more negative reviews than positive ones for the Zagg. I won't be as rough with it like I am with my cell phone. I'm wondering if I will need a protector at all.
I got an InvisibleShield and I think it's worth it. It's just comforting to know that I can do whatever I want to the screen, and there won't be any scratches on it.
I have one on my captivate, my laptop and have ordered one for my tab. I will say they are definitely not for everyone. So heres how I would describe it:
-100% will protect your screen from scratches (micro and major). Even gorilla glass will scratch.
- Feels like a orange peel or rubber/plastic on the screen. I love it, some ppl really hate it.
- After cleaning it, you might notice your finger catching a bit on swipes and drags. Its minor but some people again like that super slick glass feel for a touch screen and thats understandable.
- Might have some small bubbles after applying. They WILL go away over time, I promise.
I just picked up a tab yesterday and when I saw the price for the Zaggs, I said forgettaboutit!
I have had them on my phones for years, deff not putting one on the Tablet. It's not carried around in your pocket. It has scratch resistant glass so any normal day to day stuff shouldn't scratch it.
Those wet application orange peel ones all suck.
Static screen protectors are much easier to try and remove if you dont like them.
Not sure if the GT has gorilla glass but my Evo does and i have dropped it atleast 6x i the year i have owned it. All 4 corners got marks and i even managed to drop it face down in a compacted gravel parking lot. It slid after it landed face down! Still not one scratch when im sure normal glass would have spider webbed. So if its gorilla glass dont need a screen protector baby!
On my phone? Absolutely. On the Tab? I don't think it's necessary. I've had my ipad since it launched without a screen protector, and don't have a single scratch, because when I'm not using it, it's in a case

Nay for the tab. It's going to spend most of its time in my house on the coffee table. Gorilla Glass has me covered, in my opinion.

I'll call them tomorrow and double check.
The IO edition uses a different display than the retail. So it is possible the glass is different as well.

I'm not too worried about the screen scratching, but it picks up fingerprints way too easily. I need to buy an oleophobic screen protector that won't collect fingerprints and oils, just haven't found one that is a decent price and has some positive reviews.

I hate the fingerprint smudges as well. I saw a post a while back. Someone recommended to use a special solution on the screen that will help. Can't find the post unfortunately.

I'm not a big fan of the smudges either but you only notice them when the display is off or you're viewing the screen from a wide angle. When I'm using it right in front of me, I can't even see them and I know it has a lot of smudges on it.
Like others said, it's not my phone so it won't be directly exposed to keys or other things that may scratch it. I can't wait for my Samsung book case to arrive to I feel better about it sitting out when I'm not using it.

Boxwave Cleartouch Anti-Glare is really good at resisting fingerprints, if you don't mind a matte screen (I prefer a matte anti-glare on all my mobile devices)
Wasn't available yet, last time I checked, for the GTAB 10.1 but I'm sure it will be out shortly. Have one on my XOOM and my GTAB 7.
Are there any pics or videos of this on the web? I've never used anti glare screens I feel like its going to drop the screen quality.

So I read over at Droid-Life that our beloved Note 4's have Gorilla Glass 4. Note sure why they didn't announce this at launch or use it for marketing purposes. Any Ideas why? Either way I'm happy considering I don't use cases on my phone. Here's the story if you'd like to take a look for yourself ~~~~~> http://www.droid-life.com/2014/12/1...alaxy-alpha-feature-cornings-gorilla-glass-4/

I've never used a case or screen protector on any of my phones and I have never had an issue. Unless you're carrying your phone around in a pocket full of keys, change, or sandpaper, you shouldn't have much to worry about.

I'd still go with a tempered screen protector. I'm the same as you I haven't even dropped a phone since my iPhone 3g and never use a case but I do use tempered screen protectors because they feel exactly like the real glass (it is glass after all) just in case. Scratches and dings are meh whatever but a cracked screen is at least 200 if you have insurance. I actually made my sister get one on her iPhone 6 and she dropped it last and it saved her screen so they totally work.
I didn't like the way the tempered glass fit on the Note 4 when I first got it. I hated that you could clearly see it was on the phone mainly because of the rounded protective glass on the screen..

Agreed, when I have my phone I'm pretty careful with it and I never put it in my pocket with keys etc. Also I use to be a big case guy but it took away from the sexiness of the phone. Also after a while I'd just take the case off and eventually just rock it naked.

I wasn't a fan of how it looked when they applied it to the screen. It was like it was right on the edge of the screen also when I had a ton of iPhones no matter what case I put on it, it would eventually get scratched. Even with the iPhone 3g the back would get scratched from taking the case off and dust getting in there and rubbing on the back, Same when they switched to the metal band on the 4 and 4s So like you, I don't bothered with cases. If the tempered glass looked more discrete I'd have prob kept it on. I've had my note since launch day and the screen still looks brand new

Hi all,
I got my OP2 Yesterday!
I looked on amazon for some accessories. When i looked my phone a bit closer it looks like there already is a screenprotector on the display.
Someone else discovered that?
Thx.
Yep, they started with this with the OPO and carried it on with the 2
Yup, also got me thinking could I just slap a tempered protector over the top and have double protection lol
A number of people have been removing it thinking it's just transportation protection, it is a fingerprint magnet though.
yes
yes it has. and very well applied, that you can not notice it.
Yes, and it was scratched within a couple of days for me. I was gonna replace with the cheapest one I could find, which strangely enough was a tempered glass one form amazon.
I just replaced mine with an Orzly tempered glass SP and I'm quite impressed tbh
Just swapped it for a tempered glass one and the difference is huge, so much smoother and clearer with proper colours being shown. Yellow tinge has gone as well and screen is alot crisper

Thats what I thought too
But I had my tempered glass one ready before getting my OPT so I just installed it right away.
i have buy tempered glass from ebay and now i thinking don't want to install it until original protector is working
Yes OP2 has built in screen guard confirmed by company itself. no need to go for screen guard except if we want tampered screen
When I replaced mine for a tempered glass product the first thing I noticed is the quality difference. If your gonna spend lots of money on a phone then your gonna want to protect the screen. Saying that you can get away with stock screen protector if you have a leather flip case and your careful. I actually only replaced mine today because I purchased a bugdroid case from Amazon which by the way looks awesome. Anyway I hope this helps.

I replaced the original screen protector with a tempered glass one because it was too fingerprint-y. The nice thing is this was the first time that I've been able to apply a screen protector with absolutely no bubbles or dust stuck underneath. Having the original protector on makes it such a clean slate for applying a new one.
It comes with a screen protector on it. Just remove it and get a tempered glass protector it's better

Ya its just a normal plastic one. I kept mine on until my orzly tempered glass came.

Hi guys so the screen protector hunt starts again ive been looking on amazon uk and some of them seem to be a full adhesive fit does anyone know if the xz2 has flat glass near the main display or is it 2.5D like most models
hear is one ive been looking at https://www.amazon.co.uk/Protector-...6&sr=8-7&keywords=xperia+xz2+screen+protector
On the same hunt, the glass is definitely 2.5D. I wouldn't expect any full adhesive glass protectors to work without massive halo's.

1 hour ago i've seen the brotect airglass, how are this screen protector?
Edit: finally today it's arrived brotect airglass, first time i've buyed and it's arrived a back screen protector for s9+ in xz2 package (???), contact the support and they send me a new for free and it's arrived today...no halo, great brightness and very good oleophobic treatment
i think they all seems to be lying on us... they advertise it as a 3D or full cover edge to edge but when you get your hands on it you realize it only protects the LCD, like flat protector...
well, i like this by IMAK... it's a 3D and full edge to edge film rather than tempered glass... what i don't like about it is not glossy, but rather anti-glare which i hate.
check the link below if anyone is interested in buying it

It prevents glass breaking by 30%.
Or was it 70%?
But it definitely strengths the glass structure.

So Google chose to go with Dragontail Glass rather than Gorilla Glass... How is it standing up? Is it worth it to get a tempered glass screen protector with it? And which Dragontail Glass is it, regular, X or Pro?
I haven't used a screen protector in years, mostly carry it in my shirt pocket and pants pocket by itself with nothing else, and haven't had any noticeable scratches or issues with the screen... I did order a simple Ringke Fusion case, but is a tempered glass screen protector really needed anymore?
I guess it is personal preference.
I still always use a tempered glass screen protector on my phones. I don't feel like they negatively affect the way I interact with the screen and Dragontail/Gorilla glass will still scratch. I also think it helps protect the screen if the phone is dropped. So for me, there is no downside and plenty of upside.
I put one on my XL as soon as it was unboxed. It actually has a crack in the screen protector right now - I think due to the fact that the phone flexes a little. I bought a box of 4 protectors, but I simply haven't had a chance to replace it yet. I'm not sure that whatever caused the screen protector to crack would have been enough to crack the phones screen if I didn't have the protector on it (I doubt that it would have - as I think it happened while the phone was in my pocket) but certainly having the screen protector on the phone helped strengthen the phone and prevented it from flexing as much as it would have without one.
Same hardness as the gorilla glass so if you weren't having scratching problems with naked gorilla you wont have problems with this screen. It does score lower than gorilla on bending break tests, there is a specific name for that test but I don't recall it. At an rate that isn't helped with glass screen protectors so you should be able to continue your naked ways without concern. I'm with you BTW, haven't used one in years and haven't had any problems.

Yeah, I've never had scratch issues before... Even after 2 years the screen is basically perfect. Thanks for confirming my hopes.
Like krabman said, it's the same hardness as Gorilla Glass. It might not be as likely to survive a drop as GG though.
