[Q] LED flash while focus - LG Optimus G Pro

Hey,
I've just flashed cyanogenmod 11 M5 to my ogp and it is running great so far (only stock rom before), but when I use the camera app and I want to use the focus, the LED is not turned on. This problem leads to very bad photo results.
At the moment I have tried to use different camera apps, delete camera data, and wiping cache & dalvik.
I would like to hear if this is really a problem with my phone or cm, or if it is just not a feature for the ogp

[Q] Issue with apps that access the front-facing camera

About 7 days ago, my camera app started force closing everytime I tried to open it. Thought it was an issue with the CM10 build I was using, so I wiped and flashed the official AOKP ROM. The issue persisted. Tried multiple ROMs, including stock. It seems to be an issue with not only the stock camera, but with any app that accesses the front facing camera. Skype won't let you log in. The stock camera app force closes. Camera ZOOM app works with the rear facing camera, but won't let you use the front facing camera (just flashes black when you try to switch to the front camera, then switches back to the rear camera). This all started about 7 or 8 days ago, and I initially thought it was an issue with the experimental version of CyanogenMod 10 that I was using. But after multiple wipes and reflashes, that doesn't seem to be the case.
Anyone else experiencing this?

Sounds like a hardware issue. Maybe you can get the hardware to reset by leaving the battery out for 15-20 mins?
Swype'ed on my CM10 Galaxy Nexus
go back to stock and see if that resolved the problem.
Let the battery sit out for an hour today at work just in case, no dice. Clearing data/cache in the Apps menu, no dice.

Yup, tried that. Did a complete wipe of internal storage, not just user data. Used the GNex Toolkit to put stock 4.0.4 and 4.1.1. Same results with both. I've (miraculously) never dropped this phone, so I'm not sure what could have caused the front-facing camera to fail. Either way, Verizon is sending me a new one. Drives me NUTS not knowing what really went wrong though.

Rear Camera stopped focusing

I'm on CM11 nightly, which did at one point have problems with the camera. However it had been working fine for a while. I don't remember doing anything to my phone (no upgrades, drops, etc) but the camera just stopped focusing.
I've tried ALL the setting in the stock and several other camera apps.
I tried wiping.
I then installed jelly bomb which (I believe) is based on 4.1 stock.
Still won't focus.
It seems to be stuck in a macro focus, I.e. when the camera is 2 inches away from an object, the object appears in focus.
Anyone seen this or have an idea?

There is also more on this in the cm11 nightlies thread.
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda app-developers app
Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, that zip didn't change anything
Also, like I mentioned, I had wiped and gone back to (4.1) JellyBomb just to try the camera and it didn't focus there (eliminating 4.3/4.4 AOSP camera issues).
It had been working fine with CM11 nightlies (after the initial issues you referred to were solved).
I'll keep trying stuff, but I'm starting to fear it's a hardware issue.

no camera works all of a sudden

like the title says,no camera works. they either freeze and fc or its just a black.screen.
I'm using ogkang with the stock camera app it came with, tried A Better Camera, the Google camera and camera 360.
the Google version is 2.0.001
camera360 is 5.4.5
a better camera is v3.1.5
can't even find the stock camera app. just says gallery,
I have to find the apk file online then do a Bluetooth transfer to the evo from the 30$ LG kiktat phone at Wal-Mart.
this is sudden also. I just got back from Colorado with tons of pics but starting today nothing works. I would rd flash but don't have the files.
also, it's been super laggy lately also. many restarts a day. I mainly use it for music.
any suggestions? I'm rooted with cwm. not a noob but don't have access to a computer.
my phone has been thru hell. no power button, most of the case is separating and the sd card has to have a piece of tape on.it.

I'm not sure about the camera but for the lag you could try rebooting into twrp and wiping cache & dalvik cache, that usually helps.
Have you tried flashing a different ROM to see if the camera works?

Camera won't focus on foreground, except in the actual "camera" app

Alright, this is starting to drive me crazy, it follows me to every ROM I try.
The camera...it just sucks. I'm currently on ExperienceOS, and loving it, but I've had this issue on FreedomOS, Lineage, Resurrection Remix, and OwnROM. Anything other than the default "camera" app, just plain can't use the camera. It's terrible. Snapchat, mobile check deposits in my banking app, scanning apps, really anything that uses the camera except, again, the actual camera app on the phone, has awful quality. It'll focus the background, and everything in the background is crystal clear...but no matter what I do (angling, tap to focus, pulling phone back and pushing it closer to try and re-focus it), my phone will NOT focus on the foreground.
I can't be the only person having this issue, and I really don't think it's a hardware issue. I think it's probably something more to do with firmware, although I am on the latest firmware and have flashed back to stock OOS before coming back to ExperienceOS.
Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions? It's making this phone not fun to use. I went back to my Nexus 6P for a bit, until it died at 24% battery, reminding me why I switched away from it. This camera bug is literally the only issue/complaint I have about this phone. Please help...
P.S. - Rooted using Magisk, flashed ElementalX kernel (I've tried sticking with the stock kernel, and using other kernels, so I don't think it's a kernel problem), and I've tested it with many different apps that use the camera...everything but the camera app is fine.

N5X Google Camera really clunky after Oreo 8.1 update

Is just my phone? Since 8.1 update, camera becomes really clunky and laggy, when I take a picture, if I go to the preview the app becomes really slow and almost useless, I have to directly open Google Photos cuz trying to watch a picture from the camera app is a mess.
It happens to the stock camera, to the NX version too, the only app that does not present the problem is the "OnePlus Camera"
I tried wiping cache partition, wiping cache and data from camera app, uninstalling updates, updating the camera again and nothing solves the problem...

Happens to my friends n5x also.
for me too
Install camera nx 7.2 and disable stock camera
Same here. Flash triggers before the shot, resulting in a black screen, and zoom is erratic.
No issue when reverting to 8.0 so that's software related for sure.
