Hey guys,
i have dropped my phone and my display was broken, after i replaced it i noticed some problems with the mic.
the problem is somewhere on the motherboard, when i press the margins of the phone, like tensioning the mb, the mic is working, else is not working at all.
can someone help me with this thing? what should i look for on the mb?

Hi, i upgraded to the Black 3.01 ROM and the 1.43 radio. Everything was working fine but now when someone calls or I make a call I can not hear anything, but what's weird is that I can hear everything fine if I put the call on speakerphone. Does anybody know what the problem could be and any possible fix?
Your earpiece could be broken. I'd say call your phone from your house or other phone. Place that phone in a different room or other end of your room and put it up to speakers of something and play music. Then answer the call with your Hermes and mess around with where the earpiece is to see if you can get some sound out of it. Do things like Open/Close it (Slowly) squeeze where the earpiece is, etc.
Your ribbon cable connecting to the mainboard of the phone to the LCD, buttons on front, and earpiece could of got torn causing the earpiece to fail.
This happened on my wizard and very well could happen on the Hermes because they have the same basic build structure.
Or you could try a hard reset and re-install a rom to see if that helps.
Hello,
i have a realy wierd problem...
i always have sound interruptions during a call, sound and mic seems to be muted untill i shake the phone a bit or takeing it away from my ear. I still coudn't figure it out when it happens cuz sometimes i realy dont move but it just interrupts and i cant hear anything, it also does NOT change to the loud speaker, totaly silent.
Its a unbrand HTC with default settings and just a few regular apps.
Maybe somebody have/had the same probelm and can help me.
no idea around? maybe its a hardware issue and have to get an other tp2?
I have the same problem
Hi,
I have the same problem.
I fist had this issue with my Touch HD, then with my Touch Diamond2 and now with my Touch Pro2!!
It is so annoying.
First I thought it is because of TomTom7.
Then I thought that it was because of a metal plate that I put between the back cover and the battery of each of the devices for a magnetic car mount.
After I removed those, the problem dissapeared...for a while.
Now, after 2 weeks or so the problem is here again
I am back to my original thought: Maybe TomTom messes with something!
Do you have it installed?
This is really annoying. I hope someone will find the solution someday
Right, here’s the situation, I replaced the screen on my HTC Desire HD a few days ago and literally the first boot since there was a Wifi notification of a ROM update also, so I did it... (Orange UK Software number 3.13.61.5) anyway, since replacing the screen / updating the ROM, the Microphone has gone ridiculously quiet when making or receiving a phone call and if I open the Voice recorder, I can barely hear my recorded voice back, and the only way people can hear me when I call them is if they put it on loudspeaker and still put the phone to their ear...
Ok so initially I thought that this might be a hardware issue as I have been in the phone, however, given the fact that I can hear some playback via voice recorder, this means that the Microphone is working..?
So after a bit more investigation, I found that if I remove the bottom panel that covers the SD Card and Sim Card slots, then Voice recorder works perfectly (but my signal drops off completely so I can't test a phone call... *Are the 2 little gold contacts to do with the antenna?*) So I have come to the conclusion that it must be software? As obviously when these 2 little gold contacts make connection with the phone again, ye it enables me to make a phone call, but wrecks the microphone...
On a side note, I have checked the little Microphone hole on that bottom panel and shoved a pin through it and it’s as clean as a whistle so it can't be a blockage of any sort...
So something is happening when the bottom panel is on the phone, those 2 gold contacts tell the phone to do something? Provide an antenna for it but in doing so almost muting the microphone at the same time..?
Any ideas on how I can fix this or where shall I start? Could this still be a hardware issue? Shall I strip the phone down again and pay special attention to a specific part? :S
Please Help!?
Thanks in advance!
Adam.
which rom are you using? if that's a stock rom, it is highly recommended that you try one of the custom ones from development section (sense 3.5 roms)
Yes, its a stock ROM that was pushed OTA... It's a friends phone, I have a HD2 so I'm very familiar with flashing roms etc... but I'm going through the custom roms section and I can't seem to be able to find a good guide as a starting point..? I see a lot about Downgrading? and S-Off..? (Does that mean Signature Off?)
Thanks very much for the reply though!
Ok... I've flashed a custom ROM now, and a different radio '[ROM] Android Revolution HD 7.0.3 | High Quality & Performance | O/C | Legendary' is the rom I used...
Exactly the same... It's as if the microphone level is right down when the phone has signal/network as if I shout the voice recorder picks stuff up then...
Is there an App I can use to tweak the gain or something on the Mic levels?
I've had the phone in bits again and cleaned out everywhere, theres no dust build up or anything of the sort so I'm sure its not hardware related... but then if the ROM is completely different then it can't be software either can it..? :S
Cheers, Adam.

I'm no expert on electricity and all that but can it be possible that the power input onto the mic is being too low so that it is not functioning properly due to a newer screen sucking up a higher power? but then you mentioned that by removing those plates, it works fine...
I couldn't come across a fix as it seems that not many people had this problem so it seems that it is more of a hardware problem but i'll post asap i find something
EDIT: maybe this
Thanks for the reply! I can't understand what it could be... I have figured out though that if I hold the phone horizontally in front of my mouth and talk then it works... so I'm completely stumped as to what it could be...
Is there no way I can edit some sensitivity figure somewhere? :S
Cheers, Adam.
No mic issue continued

Hi All
I have had the same issue with no mic imput when calling someone on a HTC Desire 500 phone.
My problem started when I paired a plantronics bluetooth hands free device to my phone and started to use it.
While using the PK100 device all was perfect and no issues, but when I turned off the hands free device I now have the same issue no one can her me through the phone mic, no sound at all. I believe this issue is both software and hardware the software needs to switch the hardware (mic) on and off
It is as if the mic has been switched off by the (PK100) bluetooth hands free but the software on the phone is not re-enabling the phone mic so now I am in a situation where i can only use my phone via a diferent mic headphones or PK100 hands free.
I can also add that while in a call I have the option to switch from the hands free on the phone, or to use the phone or to use the PK100 from an in call option all works ok but the mic on the phone will not reactivate. this seems to be an issue with the software not activating the mic.
If anyone has any idea I would like to here...
Hi. I have new Nexus and I noticed that when I put phone down on something not very strongly but like any other normal phone the top part made some kind of broken sound. I just want to know if it is normal. Thanks
I know it is hard to undstand this problem, but it is also hard to describe that sound. I have no possibility to check other nexus. Sound is around camera or front top speaker.
I think what you might be hearing/feeling is the motor for the vibration function.
And do you think it is ok, or it is broken? Best will be if someone would write if he also noticed this thing. If I am alone in this I will have problem.
Maybe it's the "click" sound when the screen goes to sleep?
Settings> Sound> Screen Lock Sound
It is hardware sound for sure
So I made short video with my problem, please look at it. Thanks

Some news. I went to local samsung service center, they looked at it and said it could be something in camera and it is something which they will repair/change(but i bought phone in other country so it was just info). However I went to electro shop and try knocking on camera of some nexus and that camera was doing same thing. So I guess it is ok and it should make that sound, but I am still curious if someone else noticed it.
I'd have to guess (and from what I heard others say) is that it's the autofocus lens of the camera? Mine doesn't have that noise but it does get a faint vibration and sounds as if someone hit the string on a guitar if i hit it or put it down on a table.
Hi Guys,
I recently found out there is no sound when I am recording video. It seems like the mic is turned off or something. If I plug in the headset that came with the phone then the problem is solved.
Anyone experience the same problem?
P.S Problem solved. it was actually the tape holding the bumper blocking the upper mic lol
THX!
