I am just wondering what this option does. i have an unlocked HTC one M8 and when you click it its says fail. Was just hoping it would tell me the status etc. What does it actually do many thanks.
I'm guessing its used in conjunction with the HTC Java Card to sim unlock phones at a dealer/factory.
Java card what are thoughs trying to understand all I can also is there anywhere online to download stock ROMs

Hi there, Got a desire which I rooted using goldcard method way back when I first got the phone (flashed it with stock HTC ROM to get rid of branding etc).
Now I have to send the phone back for a warranty repair and i'm not sure how to get back to stock rom. I tried using revoked3 to root it so I could install the orange ROM but had no luck (possibly due to the fact it was rooted via goldcard method as its carrier locked).
Would it be as easy as getting the orange ROM and just updating it normally? Or will I have to go through the whole tedious goldcard method again?
The big problem is that there isn't an Orange RUU available and, as far as I know, no-one has dumped it to install as an update zip.
If you did find it anywhere then you shouldn't need the gold card.

yeah I cannot find it anywhere!
At the moment, there isn't one.
Perhaps you should just flash the WWE RUU and hope orange dont ask questions
Unfortunately, you're in the same boat as all orange customers that have rooted....

And t mobile uk customers with slcd screens wwe ruu is the only way or my way which was to use an amoled ruu which blanked the screen so along with a new motherboard it also got a screen! Not that I did it intentionally mind! Sheer luck saved the day.

HTC released a boot loader unlocker tool.
http://htcdev.com/bootloader/
Have any one tried this?
Edit:
Link to Arstechnica article: http://www.xda-developers.com/android/htc-unlocks-all-its-verizon-and-att-bootloaders/
Its aparently for ATT and Verizon phones: http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/news/2011/12/htc-has-released-a-tool.ars
Edit 2: It seems it does not work on our phones...: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=20812409#post20812409
This is a long time, but not working with any version of wildfire s hboots.

Did you try it? People are reporting it to work for phones that are not listed in the website.
to be very clear.....the wildfire s doesn't support "fastboot oem" commands.....which are needed for the official method....so IT WON'T WORK

Figured that out reading the WFS Campaign thread as well as other forums... Thanks.
It's just this phone is unusable with all the garbage apps inside. I need to clean it. Otherwise I'll have to spend more money on another phone for my wife...
If it doesn't support fastboot, why it's then part of RUU update pack together with adb ?
The phone supports fastboot.
But the phone does not understand the oem command get_identifier_token for an unique key of the phone. And the bootloader hasn't got one or two lines at the start with the value of unlocked or locked like in the sensation xe.
So htc must give an update for hboot first, but they said, that they don't do it.

Sorry,no problem.
hi got a second hand one x is there a way to check if it has been unlocked before ? it was reset to factory when i got it read something that it might say reloked were would i see that?
To check to see if its sim unlocked put a different sim in and see what it says.
You can check to see if the bootloader is unlocked by turning the phone off, hold the volume down button and the power button. If it says relocked it has been done via htc dev. To get the unlock code file just go thru the htc dev process.
Btw htc dev process does not unlock the phone to allow you to use different sim cards.

Hello
First off, I'm sorry if this question has already been asked, or is in the wrong section, but i couldn't figure it out yet.
I'm not able to use my Orange UK based HTC One X with my European provider. It is rooted and unlocked, I've put custom firmware on it (CM10) but my CID is still ORANG001.
Could this be the cause? And am I able to change this?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Jens
You can't change cid or remove carrier lock without s-off.

Assuming that there is no way to get s-off, I'm never going to be able to use my phone?
You could try this: http://www.cellunlocker.net/unlock-htc-one-x.php
You might also get the unlock code if you ask orange kindly enough.

My phone doesn't prompt for an unlock code
And I have contacted Orange, and they couldn't help me either
Can anyone help please
I have a HTC Desire Z purchased originally in Lithuania, the previous owners have somehow SLCD Bricked the phone. The phone is in excellent condition and I would love to save it. I have read threads that suggest that I have to make a Gold Card form the country of origin and make of the phone, being in the UK this is not an option for me.
Does anyone know how I can save this phone please ( and if possible giving instructions understanding that I am unable to see the screen), I have access to a computer and have Android SDK (and Fastboot installed), I also have the HTC driver installed on my computer, but neither the Adb Devices nor Fastbook list the devices when connected to the computer.
Many thanks in advance for those who have read this and can give advice
I have no idea what an SLCD brick is so maybe you can elaborate a bit

Thank you for your response, from what I understand an SLCD bricked phone is one that someone has tried to upgrade to another version of Android system which is not compatible with a SLCD Screen but for an AMOLED one http://androidforums.com/desire-all-things-root/226723-unbricking-slcd-bricked-desire-howto.html one and there for the phone will not switch the screen on, the phone in general works (receives phone signal and rings).
The only way to restore the phone is to create a Goldcard from the country of origin (and same make) as I am unable to create a gold card from the phone as SDK or Fastboot (from the computer) do not list device, and I am unable to switch the phone into debugging mode as cannot see screen to operate menu system.
Basically I need to create a Goldcard somehow for the country of origin (Lithuania) and find a HTC__032 ruu compatible for the HTC Desire Z.
Again many thanks for helping
Oh got ya, but unfortunately I don't believe there is any amoled firmware options for the desire z so if incompatible firmware was flashed you would have just a regular brick. But if everything on your phone is working besides the screen I would assume its a hardware fault and you are looking for a new LCD or main flex cable to repair it. But if you want to look for stock firmware in the above link there is another link on returning to stock where nipqer has uploaded some stock options. As you said these may not work in fastboot mode without a goldcard but feel free to try, phone does not need to have debugging on to be recognized by computer in fastboot, you just need the drivers

I found a thread about SLCD bricking of the original Desire: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=748498
It may have some helpful instructions (which you seem to have already figured out re: GoldCard and an OTA update), but the files aren't appropriate for the Desire Z
Thank you

Sorry for the delay in responding to you (now having computer issues, many thanks for your responses I am sure that somewhere there has to be an answer as it would be such a shame to throw away such a good phone.
Thanks again
Have you replaced the LCD or main flex yet?
