[Q] how to check if phone been unlocked before - HTC One X

hi got a second hand one x is there a way to check if it has been unlocked before ? it was reset to factory when i got it read something that it might say reloked were would i see that?

To check to see if its sim unlocked put a different sim in and see what it says.
You can check to see if the bootloader is unlocked by turning the phone off, hold the volume down button and the power button. If it says relocked it has been done via htc dev. To get the unlock code file just go thru the htc dev process.
Btw htc dev process does not unlock the phone to allow you to use different sim cards.

[Q] Changing isp (sim card of another company .how i s-off my WFS again?????

Well i changed sim card with one from another company that is not in the list of 'RUU htc unlock bootloader'.My bootloader is unlocked but it's S-ON.so i cant root it and i cant pt CM-7 rom that i want to. How i make S-OFF again??????
Unless you used an xtc clip you never had s-off

Why?? im from greece. i made the process of unlocking bootloader in htcdev.com using a simcard of vodafone Gr but now i changed company (cosmote GR)that is not supported and doesn't exist in the list of RUU.Now when i start the phone using vol down and power button (with the new simcard inside) it says bootloader unlocked but S-ON.
---I m not sure if it was S-OFF with the previous simcard--.
p.s Thank u very much generraly and really really congratulations to the forums of xda for the great work and action.
If you unlock via HTCDev you are only unlocking the bootloader you are not making the phone into an S-Off state.
Changing similar card will not effect your bootloader, if your bootloader says unlocked then your unlocked. Just root and install cyanogenmod 7

[Q] How do i know if my phone is rooted or was ever rooted for sure?

I'm a bit confused as i purchased a used one x from eBay UK and having some problems and may need to send back to HTC but would like to be sure if it was ever rooted etc in case HTC invalidate my warranty!

First thing to do is check the Bootloader.
Power off device (with fastboot disabled in settings) Hold volume down and power on until you boot into Bootloader and check the top and see if it says "Locked" "Unlocked" or "Relocked". If it is "Locked" you can safely assume you'll be ok to send your phone in for anything covered by the warranty.

yes, if it says locked and not relocked, then ur phone has never been rooted before.
And it means that you still hace full warrenty

Technically that's the bootloader....not recovery.

How to LOCK HTC Bootloader ?!?

My Evo is on Hboot 2.18, rooted, S-ON.
lets say something happens to the phone where i have to get a replacement...
How can i RE-LOCK my bootloader ?
i ask this because i heard that you cant return your phone after the phone is rooted (which can easily be undone but the bootloader...) or unlocked.
i just want to know how to get it back to factory default.. thanks
and i have insurance on my phone through insurion , so if my phone was to stop charging or the screen cracked, they wouldnt check if the bootloader is unlocked right ?
plug it into computer and put your phone into fast boot. Navigate to where fast boot.exe is located in cmd on your computer . And type fastboot oem lock I believe the command was and it should relock your bootloader

your bootloader will still show tampered, you'll need to follow the guide on downgrading your bootloader before you can have an official HTC "Untampered" lock.

thanks, i now understand that if something were to happen with my phone causing me to need a replacement, it would be through sprint/asurion. so no need to worry any more
This thread will walk you through all the steps to lock the bootloader without it saying relocked, so Sprint wont know you unlocked it in the first place. It even has a link to a stock rom you can flash, and the instructions how to flash it after locking the bootloader. I broke my screen 2 days after unlocking my phone. This took me half a day to find and 15 minutes to do once I read it.

[Q] Re-Unlocking bootloader issue?

Ok so here's the thing, I re-locked the bootloader and then ran the ICS RUU and updated to Jellybean. Now that I want the freedom that root permissions give me and the ability to switch roms ( bit of a rom-a-holic) I decided to unlock the bootloader again
Anyways as I went to get the oem identifier token (fastboot oem get_identifier_token) I got what looked like half of the code needed ( only 5 lines). I proceeded to enter the code in and htcdev.com said it was faulty, now whenever I try the command again I get 'FAILED (status read failed (Too many links))'
I know that some people say that you can just use the old unlock.bin from the e-mail but the issue is that I bought this device unlocked here on XDA so.... that option is outa the window.
Any suggestions guys?
Might be worth doing a live chat with the HTC tech team matey

Or send the guy you bought it from a PM and ask if he still has the file in his email and can send it to you....long shot, but why not
Reboot into fastboot and try again. Fastboot can be dodgy and once something goes wrong it won't accept anymore commands until rebooted

I had same issue after upgrading ro JB.
The solution in my case was- put in bootloader menu the phone, connect to your PC and tape on it the string about relock, but with last words- OEM unlock:
fastboot oem unlock
Then reboot the device with volume own+power and see is there mentioned device unlocked.
You don't need to reunlock your device again via htcdev.com.
Try and tell me is it work to you.
Regards.

Help needed. BRICKED!

Hey all,
My friend's phone used to boot it to the bootloader after every 6 hours or so on its own. Now it booted again to the bootloader and bootloops to the HTC screen and bootloader. It is S-ON and bootloader is locked. I can see option for fastboot, recovery. Havent tried anything yet. No custom rom was ever installed and was never rooted.
hboot version is 1.36.0000
Also it shows a warning that Battery Level is too low to flash.
is there anything be done to restore the phone or is it hard bricked?
if you want screenshot of the bootloader then I can post.
EDIT: Screenshow of the bootloader screen attached
Install RUU. It should fix your problem.

Ran the battery boosting script. Was able to exectute the unlock.bin command. It went successfully. Phone asked me to accept the disclaimer voiding warranty. I did that. Rebooted the bootloader. And still, it shows as locked but now with a Security warning. Along with the batterly level too low to flash warning.
Any help? I was trying to unlock the bootloader and install custom recovery to charge the phone atleast 30%.
UPDATE: After sever re-tries I figured out, now when on the htc disclaimer screen when I use volume buttons to select Yes, the power button to select doesn't responds, but for no it works.!
Don't know what my phone is upto. it is getting too much frustrating to me.
UPDATE: Got another unlock_code.bin from HTCDev. But now another problem is there. No matter how many times I try the device stays unlocked. I tried almost 15 stays in a row and I stays locked. Any idea how can I get out of this mess?
