Guidance with rooting - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there, I'm about to get the international version of the M8 that runs on the 2.5ghz processor. I was wondering if anyone could direct me to the appropriate thread about rooting this version?

N7105T (Telstra) Firmware to N7105 (Optus) Firmware or Other

Hi,
I just purchased a Note 2 N7105T outright. I want to change the firmware to either an Optus firmware or unbranded version.
Can someone please guide me on how to do this?
Cheers,
layziebone
Hi mate, you can swap ROMs but the antenna is not going to work as well between N7105T & N7105 as the T version is tuned for 850mhz 3G while non-T is tuned for 900mhz / 2100mhz 3G.
Interestingly enough I have a N7105 (Optus ROM) that I use on Telstra. I would much prefer the T / Telstra version.
Perhaps we could do a trade, I can see that you are also in Melbourne. Send me a PM if you are interested.

Changing 4G/LTE Frequency

Hi folks,
I have tried searching but couldn't find the answer so apologies if this is covered before.
I have a 32GB HTC One M8 which I bought from Canada. I am in UK and now looking to get a 4G contract however it turns out that the phone frequency is not compatible with 4G network here..
I have read a thread here talking about adding all frequencies but I don't want to root the phone.
Is there anyway I can flash a UK unbranded firmware? Will it add the UK frequencies or is it built in the hardware.
Please advise
Radio support is mostly software based on this phone. You can flash radios between most M8 versions (aside from the Taiwan M8x, dual SIM and possible the Verizon/Sprint CDMA versions).
But modding the phone (s-off) is required to access the radio partition. You can't touch this partition without s-off. Along those same limitations, you can't flash firmware from another version unless you s-off.
You'll need to S-OFF and Root to flash(Convert) your device.
S-OFF to convert it
Root to change the MID/CID to a UK variant.
Even this: Unlock all bands of your Qualcomm device! Use your phone globally! needs Root and "hopefully" it'll work.
As for hardware, it should work anywhere as long as you have the correct radio I would think. Given the "front end solution" that came with the snapdrago 801 to make it a "global" device. I think changes to radio for various carriers are software related and not hardware.
Can read up more on those things yourself though, RF360 Front End Solution for the Snapdragon 801.
Just get S-OFF and convert your device, LTE should work then. Can't recall anyone with a converted device complaining that it didn't work =o/
Brill.. thanks for the response folks.. so if I s-off it all I need to do Change the CID and flash the UK unbranded firmware through the bootloader?

You'll have to make sure both the CID and MID matches the firmware you're about to flash then.
If you bought it in Canada then I think the model ID will probably be something like 0P6B16000 (I think I read in Scotty's MID thread that Wind Canada might be 0P6B13000) either way, you'll probably need 0P6B10000 (European Unlocked and pretty much every European variant).
Cheers for all the input folks
Ended up selling the phone..
bought a new phone now from Vodafone and now got another task. Will start a thread about it.

Hi guys, I end up in this post. I have an Euro M8 unbranded, unblocked. I dont care to be root or s-off. How can I change the LTE to have LTE band 4(1700/2100) and band 28(700). Is possible?

Answered your other post in the "Help" thread.
Please don't make multiple posts asking the same question.
So.... I'm ready to go S Off and change from Euro unbranded to AT&T in order to get the band 4. Before to proceed, does someone already made this procedure?
Any experiences to share?

[Q] Root for T805s?

Has anyone rooted the new Galaxy Tab S T805s with the Exynos 5433 chipset? I've already done a search but couldn't find any rooting method that is listed as compatible with the new T805s.
Any assistance would be appreciated.

[Q] ATT SM-T707A Current Firmware rootable?

Hi folks,
I'm a bit confused after reading many threads.
I'm thinking of buying an ATT SM-T707A. But I don't want an unrootable device. The locked bootloader is very annoying but for the use I have in mind the lack of custom OS options isn't a big deal. But I need root.
So, I presume a new one from ATT or online will have (or rapidly update to) Lillipop. Is Lollipop rootable on the ATT 8.4 707A?
Marc
Hey,
I'd like to know this too please... the only way I have seen people rooting the T707A is with Kingroot - I just tried now and LP and it doesn't work
Cheers,

G960F (Japan Version?) flashing to One UI 2.5

Sorry if i ask a stupid question,
but when searching for it i found contradicting answers.
Also i somehow can not post in the general questions forum so feel free to move this thread over there.
I do own a S9 G960F which i have bought in Germany. But according to the official Samsung support it was produced for the Japan market/ is a Japan version.
The problem i am facing now is that the Japan version apparently does not get One UI 2.5 on Android 10 and instead is stuck on One UI 2.1.
Unfortunatley i do need One UI 2.5 to run a certain app and i am looking for a way to get that to work.
The general idea would be to flash the newest official german firmware for the S9.
According to Wikipedia the japan verson has a Snapdragon processor. So the question i am wondering about is if i can just flash the newest german firmwre using Odin or if that wont work since german phones usually come with the Exynos processor? Do i even have to care about the processor at all when flashing official Samsung firmware?
(Note that OEM unlock is enabled in the developer options. So a locked bootloader will not be an issue)
Thank you in advance for helping a clueless newbie like me.
