Hi,
I have bought an Ascend P6 (my first Android phone, so I have started to learn using tutorials and XDA). I have only:
- updated the firmware from B606 to B125 international
- rooted the device
Now I would like to install Xposed, but first I'd like to make a backup of the smartphone on the SD card using a Recovery. Here on XDA I have found CWM (but at the moment, as I understood, it can't backup/restore) and TWRP. This one works only with B118CN and B120CN. What does "CN" mean?
In your opinion, what should I do to make a backup (more or less) safely?
I am still not very familiar with some terms and practices, so please explain every step
Thank you for your time and patience!
CN means that they are Chinese firmware and they come with unlocked bootloader, which is required in order to flash twrp. But check here how you can unlock BL on any firmware: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2666116
Good luck and welcome to the android world!

Ok, so I have to use adb to unlock the bootloader. I found some guides on this forum, but I ask you: do I only have to install Huawei Hi Suite and adb/fastboot tools? Or also Android SDK? Is there a specific procedure for P6? I didn't find it.
I read in the thread linked above that the factory reset should not happen, but in that case (Murphy's law)... what would happen? Is there a risk of "bricking" the phone? I just made a backup with the Huawei "internal" tool (under MGMT folder) and I don't know what I could lose while unlocking the bootloader. I still have a little confusion in my head
And btw.. thank you!
UPDATE: I installed Android SDK and Huawei PC Suite. I entered fastboot mode and used the command "fastboot oem unlock UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU" to unlock the bootloader. Then I rebooted the phone (fastboot reboot).
Now I want to install TWRP. Please confirm me these steps:
- I have to download twrp_2_6_3_3_recovery.img (where do I have to put it?)
- via adb commands, I have to enter fastboot mode and use the command "fastboot flash recovery twrp_2_6_3_3_recovery.img"
Then? Just reboot the phone?
Check this thread (if you already didn't): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2636231
Put the .img file into the adb folder

It worked, I installed TWRP but when i boot in it, the phone starts vibrating and I can't use it.
Should I install Kitkat beta and then downgrade again in B125? Both via local update, right?
After that should I flash TWRP again?
Hmmm, try to reflash twrp?

I read that I'm not the only one with this problem... but I couldn't find a solution for now.
I don't know if re-flashing TWRP would solve this. When I boot in TWRP I see the menu, but the phone vibrates and the screen does not respond correctly to my taps. Luckily, if I press Power + Vol up + Vol down the phone reboots in normal mode!
Install TWRP on KK Beta... Safest method.

Ok, so I have to:
- update to Kitkat beta via "local update"
- flash TWRP again
Then I will be able to "local update" again to B125, am I right?
Thank you!
No, for local update you need stock recovery.

Ok. Can I use the "Stock_Recovery_B118.zip" linked in the TWRP OP? Or when can I find B125 stock recovery?
After that, are the steps I wrote before correct?
You can use the B118 one Install the recovery through adb, use local update to update to kk beta, then flash twrp for kk through adb, then you can make a backup If you need to stay on B125: update to kitkat beta, then use local update (NOT 3 button method) to install B125. Your bootloader will still be unlocked and not encrypted. I think you can flash TWRP then, too, although I'm NOT 100% sure

Ok, I installed the stock recovery and it worked! now I'll see if install Kitkat beta and keep it or go back to B125... I'm afraid that B125 and TWRP will continue to give me the "vibrating" error. Anyway, thank you for your help!
No problem! Glad I could help

Hey,
I got a problem with my Ascend P6. I was using a B014 KK based Custom Rom (Link), but encountered some problems with the rom, for example, the battery lastet not even a day with almost no usage of the phone. So I decided do perform a downgrade to JB. My intention was to flash the B107, then the B120 and then a JB based custom rom. So I started with downloading the B014 stock firmware to extract the stock recovery. After I flashed it succesfully via ADB, I copied the B107 UPDATE.APP file into the dload folder on my SD Card and installed the B107 as local update. The phone rebooted, passed the Huawei Ascend P6 logo, but is stuck at the 'pulsating' Huawei logo. Can anybody help me getting my P6 back to work?
Thanks, NotoriusBB

Man, thanks. I just tried it, failed because the battery percentage was below 15%, but I will try again after it charged a little. Thanks a lot
Edit: Ha, I just performed a factory reset when i was in the recovery after update failed due to low battery percentage and... Phone simply booted up
I got this Huawei from China market, it's P6-U06 and running Chinese B113SP02, I'm looking for a best way to make it International and update to B125>B132>KitKat. Problem is there is no option for local update, only OTA but it is says "device up to date" Also I got bootloader unlocked and TWRP 2.7.0.0 installed from
new and there is no root for a moment.
Please see pictures for more details
I it's actually running a custom ROM because atx is a dev team from china so. It don't look like a fake copy.

Thanks I know it's no fake. The question is how to update to official kitkat if there is no "local update" option. Also I'm not sure where to find a stock recovery to force update.app file.
Recently I've successfully installed JB 4.2.2 and it seems good http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2570602. I can live with it,
but how to get official kitkat on my device?

Root your phone, download b.513 rom repacked by oxalis and flashed true twrp.

When you want to use stock recovery than go to TWRP 2.6.3.3 for jelly bean and there should be an stock recovery for B118 this you can flash. After that you can flash the update.app for B132 and from there you can flash B512 which is the newest international firmware, if you want Chinese firmware you can update to B508.
thanks guys I will try both ways and will report

That's weird. I've flashed B118 stock recovery, full wiped and forced update.app but failed, I've tried B125 and B132. Update.app has been placed in my sd memory card /dload/. For now I'm on JB custom rom with stock recovery.
Maybe because I'm on custom rom based on B120, I have no idea
SOLVED
To any one having same problem as me. Flash B118 Stock Recovery (via bootloader and fastboot commands) Download P6 Unicom EMUI2.0 from here http://dl.vmall.com/c01l4l4a2y#, unpack and copy dload folder to your memory card and install from "locale update" or force update from recovery by pressing power+volume-volume when phone is off. Next, download B132 International and make update the same way as before (update.app in dload folder). Last step, download B512 official international kitkat and again unzip and use "local update". Just remember to delete old update.app in dload folder. If you experiencing any issues, just do factory reset for fresh install. As my phone is P6-U06, I don't know if it will works for others.
Just please notice: after B132 update I've had message "android process media has stopped" and had to factory reset before update to B512 KK.
so best Idea make a backup of all your important things before you do anything.
I hope it will help to somebody else.
Hi.
Sorry to bump this, but, Osstis, how did you get your bootloader unlocked? Is it necessary to have it unlocked in order install another firmware via local update? Mine is locked, I checked. I'm running a Chinese firmware (B508) and Google Play Store force closes everytime I open it, I've tried almost everything I could find online to get it fixed but nothing works.
I want to install B512 on my P6, too. I understand that I need to install a B1xx firmware first, but I'm not sure if I need to unlock the bootloader to do it. If anyone can shed some light on this it would be greatly appreciated. I rooted my phone through the one-click methods found online, those software say my phone is rooted but the app Root Checker Basic says its not, how can I be sure?. No custom recovery installed.
Thanks.
try to get your phone in bootloader mode via adb (adb reboot bootloader)..
there type "fastboot oem unlock UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU" (16*U)..
this worked for me (coming from intl b125 locked)..

adb.
Does that make any difference?
no..i dont think so..
but i think you missed to load the bootloader at first with the cmd "adb reboot bootloader"..
then "fastboot oem unlock UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU"
this is what i did with the b125 when i got my phone..

Isn't "adb reboot bootloader" simply the command to boot into bootloader? That's the first command I entered. If hadn't, I wouldn't have been able to enter "fastboot oem unlock UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU". Would I? I might be wrong

Guide for fastboot is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2636231
Updates will not work if you extracted directly from internal to sd card. May work if you put the .zip or .rar on your sd card, and then extract it and update the normal way. Not 100% sure about that though! Good luck :fingers-crossed:

When I am in recovery and type adb devices command there aren't any devices showing, so I really have no idea what to do.
Since you have stock recovery maybe you should try updating from a sd card, bevause if had situations when that helps.

I think that B510 I'm 95% sure, oR maby B506
I wanted B634 but now I don't care I just want my phone working
the easiest way is that you reflash the b510..then do a factory reset and then flash through force update method the b634..(when you have the stock recovery - shouldnt matter which Version as long as it is a kitkat one :b510 -b513 or cn version b508 or lower).
after flashing do a factory reset again and then prepare your phone as you like..

Im using microSD adapter to put files on my SD ( 2gb ) if this helps .
you need to flash stock recovery and boot.img's..
then put full update.app of desired firmware on your sdcard inside dload folder and perform a force update (three button method)..
for more information search the forum..
this is explained very often already..

Thanks A lot , can you give me links ? I'll try to find by myself of course , but I may miss something.
I dont mind if u dont do a step by step guide , but atleast you coulve given me links , and tell what to do first and what last, is it really that hard ? or its better to be a sc*m and let me look anwers by my self what will take several ho urs , not like 10 minutes what you should spend to give me some more help.
look inside the ascend p7 general section..almost any thread there has a guide how to flash stock recovery and boot img (some have links, some not)..
search for the huawei update extractor (i think its in the ascend p6 section)..
with a full update.app of your favorite firmware you can extract the needed recovery and boot files)..
hope this helps as a start..

You can use this link for the tool that can extract files from stock updates.

Then this one to flash the recovery.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2709607
And im guessing you know where to find update.app files which are needed to get back to stock.
