hoping you could hep, i have a idea what a kernal and a rom is. ive just tried rooting my phone s4mini i9195 with no success from here:

i have then tried to recover it to try to root it again but thats come up fail too. now im trying to connect it to kie's to recover it.
all i want is good instruction that will work for my phone for a good kernel and instructions on how to install ROM all i wanted to do is extend my battery life and remove bloatware.
i just need some help
im currently on the "firmware upgrade encountered an issue" page on my phone
Can you give us a hint as to what is the issue in the phone, when you say you are trying to recover it.
Is it booting up ?
Stuck in a bootloop ?
Any other issues ?

well, well, i'm here today because i have many, may questions
i'm now actually with the Nitro HD (P930) with stock ICS, a few days ago can finally root it, and installed rom manager, installed CWM, but when i reboot it on restart in recovery my phone makes this:
secure booting error cause boot certification verify
so i have to remove the battery and turn it back, i want to try it on with some custom roms and i been reading about, but dont know yet if i need to do the Unbricking Solution to do so or what

oh!!! and by the way, my GF have a chinesse phone: (the star b930) so i want to know if there is anything i can do with it (install a custom recovery, install a diferent rom) the phone is already root (im sorry about the double answer it is because i dont know where i can ask with this one)
for your first question , you cant flash custom recovery on stock ics becouse boot loader is locked
for unbricking your phone and flashing cwm use this link and follow the steps

Before, I was using Samsung Galaxy Y, then upgraded to a korean LG Optimus G (F180S)
I dont know ANYTHING about upgrading or customizing android phone, I know basics about applications, hardware specs, etc, but nothing about custom ROMs or such. Also, when I try to access recovery its all in Korean >_>
Anyhow I need your help... I want to change into Cyanogenmod 11 so I can have KitKat hehe. I want to learn this "custom ROM" thing also :3 can anyone help me?

Now, I tried downloading ROM manager, and then try to download CWM for my phone. Heck I dont even know what CWM does to my phone. But when I try to download it, it says that there is no compatible CWM for my phone....
First, can anyone explain what CWM is? or Even TWRP? What is this?

what is this build.prop? and where can I see this?

Hi,
2 month ago I installed cyanogenmode. Ever since then I tried to go back to my htc stock rom but I have failed everytime.
I always stuck somewhere and I always manage to brick my phone and delete my OS.
I know there are a lot of threads here but non of them helps. If someone would please try to explain me how to do it step by step I would be really appreciated.
P.S. can someone please give me links for downloading all the correct files.

Have you tried Nukaru's tutorial on the a5_ul ? It's here in XDA . That's the best "step by step" your going to get and if you've tried it and failed the issue might not be the steps but something else going on with your device.
Hello guys, i am new to installing custom roms.
This will be my first install.
I have i9100 international version and want to upgrade it from stock 4.1.2 to lolipop mainly because my phone is old and lagging like hell.
Before i posted i have searched the forum and google and found some info but its still kinda confusing to me.
I was thinking to upgrade to CM12. CM13 i think will be too much for this old phone!
A lot of guides say that i must have installed a custom recovery. I dont have any...
trying to search how to do the above, i find that in order to do that i need to root my phone! This is where i get lost. Some say i need root, some say i dont!
Some guides say to use odin, some others to use bootloader or something....
Can someone that has done this give me some pointers or some step by step guide to read on how to do this?
Also, is it possible after installing the ROM to get my apps and my settings back? logs,sms,contacts, etc etc etc?

Hey So iv had some issues rooting this phone. Im new to the whole rooting thing and would like to learn more. This is my old phone and I want to root it. Iv spent around two days trying to get this to work. So the current problem is I think the boot loader on it is locked and Iv been trying to unlock it. For some reason when I do adb reboot fastboot then the phone just restarts. Any one have any ideas about this? Edit: Found out that this phone might not have fastboot on it. Any way of knowing?

when I try to run Odin it restarts 2x and the root is unsuccessful.
