Looks so nice ..it says 240 only. My lack of knowledge in the phone and everyday report of softbrick really scared me into waiting for a rom done specifically for e980..

still waiting a kitkat for e986

Is it really that easy to soft brick this phone? I'm planning on getting mine next week(maybe 2 weeks, depends on wether i can find it cheap here or if i would have to order it from the states). What rom are you using? have you tried the official kitkat rom from korea? I've read the thread about it and things seem to be working. Another question, with that rom does internal storage is reduced to 16 gigs on the E980 or does it stay at 32 gigs?
Sorry for the off topic.

I check on here everyday and everyday I see report of softbrick. Most people are able to use the flash tool to restore back to stock tho, I just don't wanna fool with it. I'm using the V5 rom. No, I haven't tried the official update for the Korean model. Yea, some people are able to make it work but you don't know how many steps they took , also their steps aren't consolidated in a way that's clear for people that don't know what they are doing to follow. I also read like you may need to switch recovery for different steps of the process, that sounds like a pain. There is a fix to make it 32 but you'll have to read through the pages to find it
Edit : I feel what makes it difficult is the rom is done by someone that speaks much pretty no English, there is not much communication between the community and the developer.
Edit2: if you want it cheap. You can buy one with broken front glass and replace it. I bought mine for 150, 25 for the digitizer, and just did the glass replacement today, it wasn't bad

some users from other forum also reported the bricking E988.
according to other user from Sonyue forum
1.pressing volume+ and volume- and then connecting the usb cable can flash KDZ.
2.after KDZ it'll start reboot.
3.pressing power for 10 sec, and then enter the LG recovery.
4.double wipe (or triple wipe. im not sure. )
(however, the screen won't work till you finish those steps )

Looks like this relying on foreign sources thing isn't really working out. People are really bricking

You have a E980?
Use LG Flash Tool WITH Mega Lock dll
Plus you need 2 files a TOT and dll
RENAME the dll file with the model you phone thinks it is.
Now do the normal procedure of the LG Flash Tool and your dll and TOT
Done.

[ROOT] for LG Optimus G Pro E98x + CWM + TWRP [s-off]

Note: This Root method is no longer supported, most models have been updated to newer software and does not work. If you want this to even have a chance at working, you must have the original software that shipped with the phone 3 years sgo.
This is a great root method with easy to follow instructions that anyone can follow and without all the extra jibber jabber most do not understand. The originator of this root is @giantpune, please give him a Big Thanks!!!
**This Root Method has been confirmed working on the models listed below**
E980 AT&T (Does not work on 10P 01/08/2014 update)
E985 Euro/SFR
E986 Euro/SFR
E988 HK
E988 GCC
E988 India
E988 Starhub Singapore
E989 UK
E989 Israel
1st: Go to http://www.lg.com/us/support-mobile/lg-E980 and download the drivers, let it install all the way before going to the next step.
2nd: Go to 7-Zip and download the program, it is the best one imo.
3rd: Download the attached root file below
4th: Un-Zip the Root file using 7-Zip to a known location
5th: Make sure in Developer Options you enable USB Debugging in your phones settings
6th: Make sure your phone is in Charge Only mode
7th: Plug your phone into your computer and give it about 3 minutes before going to the next step to ensure your computer can see your device
8th: Open the file and run the CurrentRoot.bat
9th: When it prompts you to go to MTP mode, do so in the same place Charge Only was found. LET IT SIT, 3 MINUTES MINIMUM!!!!! This will insure that your computer has seen your phone as a MTP device, if you rush it, the root will fail!
10th: Now hit any key to continue
11th: Once it is completed and your phone reboots, safely remove hardware to remove your phone.
You can download many free root checker apps from the Play Store or use SuperUser that is included with the root.
If you need the original AT&T TOT file with the update attached please visit

Thanks @giantpune
side note: I am not responsible for your phone, the above process worked flawlessly on my LG Optimus G Pro US Version E980 on 7/12/2013.
How do I know if I have the "Value Pack Upgrade"? I got an OTA update from AT&T/LG a few days ago, which completed successfully but my Android version is still 4.1.2. Is there a baseband version or build number I can compare against to see if I have this "Value Pack Upgrade"?
That was the value pack upgrade sir ?
I followed these directions exactly and it worked perfectly! I installed Root Explorer and it was successfully given superuser privileges.
Note to others: on step 10, the phone will reboot and the error message you may see on your phone (that a process stopped unexpectedly) is normal. I waited until the phone fully rebooted and finished loading everything before disconnecting my phone.
Android version: 4.1.2
Baseband version: APQ8064/MDM9x15M
Kernel version: 3.4.0
Build number: JZO54K
Software version: E98010k
Awesome, I added a note about waiting for the phone to reboot. I did not see the message you got but I may have missed it looking at my daughter dance last night to Xbox.
Enjoy sir
Thank you for the above instructions. Zero issues.
Waiting the 3 minutes made all the difference.
This is the way to go to root! Thank you again!

Well, the rooting police are after me..... lol
Tried to apply the update while my E980 was rooted. No go, got the 0x13e error. Research says that's probably because device is rooted.
So I unroot and try again a couple days later. Same error displays. Device restarts and a new error displays. Something like "Device is suspected of being rooted and rooted devices will not be updated".
So I'm hiding out until the heat is off.
In the meantime, any thoughts.

[Q] fully bricked

Let me begin with this statement "it was my choice and stupidity".
I've been running on cm10.2 which i love, now tonight i tried exploring another rom. downloaded energy hd and and tried installing through clockmod. next thing i know it failed. and screen went off. sad end of story for my s3. i tried everything but not even the light will come on when plugged in. when plugged in to pc driver for QUALCOMM HS-USB QDLoader 9008 was installed but still no luck.
is there any way of reviving it?

First things first. Questions should be posted in Q /A . Now that we've got that out of the way. What version of CWM are you using ? Is it the latest ? Did your Battery have at least a 50% charge before you tried Flashing something ? I know they say 30%. But I like to be on the safe side. Where did you get the Rom you Flashed ? Energy HD is for the international s3 i9300. Those roms will hard brick your phone because the partition layouts are completely different from that of the US S3s. So when you install it stuff gets installed to the wrong place. The partition we use for our Boot loader is the partition where the i9300 has its kernel so it would wipe your bootloader flashing a i9300 rom

Well let me just start with the bad news, energy is an international ROM not meant to be on our phones. What does this mean to you? Your bootloader is destroyed(oh s*it) but they're is still hope for that shiny paperweight. There's two options at this point. One is located here :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2369125
in order to do this method you mush have no less than a class 10 sdcard AND it must be the same size as your internal memory. I.e my phone is the 16 gig model so I need a 16g class 10
Your second option takes a professional(or some expensive toys) but is a sure fire bet to get your s3 back up and running again. What you need to do is find a JTAG service. Look on craigslist and whatnot to see if a small game store around you does them. If not there's a few good mail in services online just pop out the SD and send it in. This method however is going to be around 70$
best of luck man hope this info helps.

Let me reiterate, read EVERYTHING you must follow this 100% exact for this to work.
What happens when you flash an international zip is you format the bootloader. I think Samsung did this to confuse people on purpose because between u.s. and international the partitions for bootloader and kernel are swapped. So an inter. Zip wipes our Bootloader partition and tried to put your kernel there. The debrick image simply allows you to boot your download mode from your SD card instead of from the phone. From there you can return stock and restore the proper partitions.

LG OPTIMUS G F180 L/K/S easy change to e975 custom rom

Hi Guys! Just sharing the mod that I learned while doing my best on localizing my phone to e975 from F180 K/L/S
Disclaimer: Follow this at your own risk, I am not responsible if your phone got bricked or what. This is the first time that I will write my own guide for changing the roms,
No need to change FW to e975
No need to update baseband since you will not loose your signal.
Just follow the steps I made.
1. make sure you are already on stock FW F180 K/L/S if not you can download if from:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2320817
2. Format your phone by turning it off first, press and hold volume down then press power button until format option shows up. Then press power button twice to initiate format of your phone.
3. Root your phone using this method (since this one works for me):
http://vulnfactory.org/public/motochopper.zip
3.1 Extract the entire contents of the zip file.
3.2 If you are using Windows, ensure you have installed the latest Samsung USB drivers available for your phone.
3.3 Ensure USB Debugging mode is enabled on your device.
3.4 Connect your device to your PC via USB.
3.5 If you are using Windows, navigate to the extracted directory and execute "run.bat". If you are using Linux or OS X, navigate to the extracted directory in a terminal and execute "./run.sh".
3.6 Approve the ADB connection from your PC on your device
NOTE: your phone will restart and make sure to open the superSU first to update the binary, if update failed,
download framaroot on google and transfer it from pc to your phone via USB.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2130276
4. download FREEGEE on google play, make sure it will be allowed by SuperSU and unlock the device.
choose the CWM touch for the recovery on dropdown menu, wait till it is done.
5. download the latest version here on your pc:
http://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=e975 - for custom ROM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2387878 -GAPPS
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2312735 -Kite kernel
transfer it via USB to your phone.
6.turn off your phone, access the recovery menu by holding down the volume up button then press and hold power button 'till fastboot appears, press volume down button twice and then power button.
7. look for install from sd card, select option 1, look for the (rom name.zip) install it first before the GAPPS and the kernel.
8. If having error while updating (status 7) follow the steps here to resolve:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2302599
9. try to reinstall the modified rom, if success install kernel.zip and GAPPS.zip via recorvery, if not try to repeat step 8 and make sure that as you zip your file it is not inside a folder.
10. reboot your phone! if it takes 10 min while booting on new cyanogen mod, turn off the phone by holding the power button, access recovery again, format the phone, and cache as well.
11. reboot the phone! Enjoy your new E975 device!
CREDITS to all of the author of the threads I used!
Thanks to all of you guys!!!
Just comment and say thanks if it works for you!
This is for custom ROM. If u want stock use Epsilon

Thanks for posting this. really helped a lot on rooting this phone. Since i get a lot of different approaches to root and flash roms on this phone, specially with the conversion from f180L to E975.
For those who get a status 6 on flashing. here's what i did to fix the issue. Edit update-script with notepad++ to see the special characters within the script. Here is the rest of the instruction thanks to illtown: "All you need to do is change the Windows newlines with the Unix ones. You can do it easily with Notepad++. So open the script, click the "Show All Characters" icon (you should see the newlines here), then navigate to "Edit-->EOL Conversion-->Convert to UNIX Format" and that's it. Finally, you should end up with single LFs. And don't forget about encoding, should be ANSI."

ive got f180k rooted..but how to install cwm recovery? ive already installed Freegee but it appears 'didnt support f180 version'..tq
can i install custom recovery (CWM)with other method to my F180K Rooted without converting to e975? tq..
No Service - Mobilink (my network)
ok so i did these steps
1- installed stock JB 4.1.2 ok f180k
2- Rooted/ Freegeed and Installed cwm 6.0.4.5
3- from recovery installed CM11 and GAPPS (wipe data/cace/davlik before and after installation)
4- rebooted and everything working great no imei lost or nothing wrong with wifi
JUST
my network says No Service
on lock screen it say on botton "No Service - Mobilink" (mobilink is my network name)
*#*#4636#*#* says Emergency Calls Only.
5- I flashed F180K baseband by Hustonn but no use
6- i flashed back the stock using KDZ updater and now it says network disabled.
what did i do wrong?
how do i fix it?

firstly u need to know what bands your phone supports OK? then u need to know what frequencies your operator broadcasts and using and check if is avaiable in your area
Please read;
The first picture is with official (korean) F180S firmware
shows that my phone ''MANUALLY'' searched all avail. networks in my area and as u can see found (specific) my 3 network broadcast L/W L is lte and W is WCDMA 234 20 is GSM (it is identification for specific my network http://wammu.eu/tools/networks/?country=234)
The second image is official (europe) E975 firmware
shows that phone ''MANUALLY'' searched all avail. networks in my area and as u can see phone didn't find 4G/LTE service only W L is missing .. so by converting korean mobiles with europe software we losing LTE/4G that is why all people facing this problem
I can't to connect to 4G/LTE right now bcos my operator wont't let me yet it is avail for testers and technicians bcos my operator launching 4G/LTE at the end of this month or next month .. they still postponing it ..

Hello
conversion procedure must be repeated when you change rom ?
or only once ?thanks

Need to find out exact model number of my LG G3

I had purchased a supposedly international unlocked LG g3 D855 32gb from eBay. Currently I am running kitkat 4.4.2 rooted rom which came pre-installed on the phone and it's rooted. There is no update center on my phone.
Underneath the battery it's written "MADE IN KOREA"
Now I want to update it to lollipop or may be marshmallow but the problem is that I can't find which version of rom to flash as there are lots of D855 models in market there is European version, Korean version, Hong Kong version, Indian version. There is no clear indication on the box or on the phone abt the version is there any sure shot way of knowing what rom should I flash as I can't take risk of hard / soft bricking the phone. I am attaching screen shot of software version.
Please help

Hi
LG G3 D855 is the European version of the G3. Download LG Phone From app and run it and it will inform you of your phone details. There are 2 serial nos. the 2nd one will give you the phone region/carrier e.g. My G3 has AGBRVK which designates UK Virgin Mobile.
Hope this helps.

You have to ensure your model number before update otherwise you will brick your phone ?

Do u think it's safe to flash this kinda phone... I mean he could have changed a few parts here and there.. I mean it's showing D855 in settings and VS985 in recovery, seller might have done something fishy to this phone
Are there any risks attached - using the phone as it is... Is it going to be trouble some later?

In xda if you search you will find lots of refubrish Lg g3 phone, basically D850 or ls990 model number and they use their recovery model firmware for successful update. Basically what i understand seller did nothing special he root the phone edit build.prop file to change model number and other information . Before selling he just unroot or uninstall supersu. But flashing is up to you , if you know how to flash phone or want to take chance than you can try it, otherwise just ignore it.

LG V35 - LGUP - Error: 0x7004, AB Update Boot Change Fail / Stuck In Firmware Update

So this happened, and I have no idea what to do.
Google search on this specific error shows nothing, like I am the first to have it or something.
Could it be that is because my phone is encrypted?
Also sorry if I have posted this in the wrong sub forum

I have only done the "Upgrade" Option, nothing else, trying to dump anything gives me "0x2000 Write Protected lun" Error, could be because of the encryption.
I have just tried doing Partition DL on "boot_ a/b" and "sid_a/b"
Followed by the upgrade option, result is the same, the last thing it seems to try flashing is "sid_a" then it gives me the 7004 error
I have accidentally flashed/partition DL on user files.
I am guessing that wiped everything on there didn't it :|

Well there goes my whatsapp history, I really should stop messing with it when I am tired late at night after coming back from a long trip.
I have tried multiple different ones,
The one from https://www.lanzous.com/i3y5ocd does not seem to work for me, it gives me an invalid mismatched DLL type of error
The one I am using I can't remember where I got it but will post once I get a chance to look it up again
Would doing the refurbished option be any good?

In the LGUP zip file there is an LGUPD and an LGUPE exe. Correct? Which of those two did you use? Also I think refurbish would be the best option. At this point.
---------- Post added at 03:58 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:54 PM ----------
The upgrade option wouldn't work because of the firmware incompatibilities. You could only use upgrade going from same firmware family. Like Google Fi 8.0 to Google Fi 9.0. or Amazon 8.0---> 9.0 etc.
