Another way GSM Unlock for US Carriers and returning from d801 to ls980 - Sprint LG G2

So is there any other way of gsm unlocking the LS980 for US carriers (T-mobile for me) without being on the two specific roms that do this? Like say Vanir, or omnirom, or the Glex rom? I see the build.prop method mentioned a lot but not the actual process for it, and does that work for US carriers? Also, I flashed Justin's stock JB rom on my ls980 so its going to say its a d801, how do i go back to my ls980 status? I may or may not have accidentally my backup too... any way to undo this without using the lg flash tool?

justin posted a guide on how to port pretty much any rom from any of the other carriers:

So far Ive tried the energy rom in the tmobile dev section and the stock international version (d802). Both worked well and I especially liked the d802 because it had the fm radio app and it worked great. Some other users have ported verizon roms as well.
Ive also tried the build prop method with modest success:

Look for post #423 and remember ti use lowercase "spr" (credit to MA7MOD_GSM)
Unfortunately the build prop method has a few quirks. You have to dial a "1" before dialing a number otherwise the dialing app crashes. Also I couldn't get wifi tethering to work properly. Eventually I settled on the energy rom and its been my daily driver for about 2 weeks and I cant complain much.
I dont know if you can successfully flash a ls980 and get back on the stock rom without lg flash tool. If you want to go back to stock Id stick to the tried and true method namely the stock tot file and lg flash tool. Follow the instructions here: (credit to hyelton)

Any idea as to whether trying the romn compare method listed in Justins instructions would work with the base and another sprint rom. I believe the rom is called d3rp or something similar.

Thats a good question. I cant speak from experience but Id imagine that any stock based spring rom would still have the usa gsm carrier lock. Now if I remember correctly some users have reported that using the build prop method then flashing a sprint AOSP rom unlocked the phone for usa carriers. Again I havent tired it myself but its somewhere in the unlock thread here:

Ah, I tried the rom porting method with an ATT rom but it woyldn't boot. It got past the lg logo and got stuck on a black screen and at the top left it said Fastboot and under that it had a number code. I managed to restore from backup using twrp but any idea what that was or how to get past it?

Which ROM did u try? Also did u clear cache/dalvik before and after installation? Try any of ROMS in the international section. Ive ported a few international ones and never had a problem. also Im pretty sure that justins Tmo port has worked with att sims,

It was called something along the lines of grievous or grievious rom and yes, I wiped everything and I always clear both caches but it wouldn't boot and got stuck on the fastboot screen. I replaced all the necessary files although I did notice that the rom did not have the loki folder at all but I copied it anyway, is that maybe why that happened? Also, do you remember what other roms you've tried besides the energy rom?

Hi
Hi , I have flashed JUSTIN ROM posted in post# 239
It works fine , I have one issue and one query
- I can't set up any APN , by default it's T-Mobile. Even though I can add apn manually I can't select as there is no select button next to the apn.
Please note I am using this ROM in India/Airtel network (Need urgent help on this as no DATA is active)
- Is there any Kitkat version of this ROM
I have also attempted to use another ROM , following the instructions as per post #410
But after flashing my phone stuck in LG logo.
- Do I need to flash some other modem
- ROM which I were trying to flash is T-Mobile stock debloated (Kitkat) and I compared and did file adjustment against Justin's ROM (Sprint - T-Mobile , post#239 )

Looking for TELUS ROM for Motorola Charm

There appears to have been a TELUS software update for the Charm. Apparently I can't post a link, but if you search Google for "telus charm update" you can go to (what should be) the second result. Does this mean there should also be an SBF out there for it somewhere? Or would this software update have come in the "update.zip" format? Anyone have any information? My TELUS Charm is bricked—the only existing ROM that even slightly works is the T-Mobile one, but I don't get any phone service with it. All of the others give me MEM_MAP errors. Thanks!
I'm also looking for TELUS ROM for Motorola Charm.
Anyone can help me?

Here's the original Charm T-Mobile ROM and another ROM for Charm without Blur - but it didn't boot when I flashed it to my T-Mobile Charm using RSDLite 4.5.3 - I had to flash T-Mobile again.
Haven't found a way to (nan- or clockworkmod-) backup the entire ROM.
Charm ROMs:

Also I'm trying to get Cronos (who's android 2.3 for Hero is amazing) to create a Charm port by donating him a Charm:

Thanks, but I don't need T-Mobile rom. I need TELUS rom.
Hi,
I have two TELUS charms.
Can anyone tell me how to do a backup of the ROM?
I will post it here once i get it.
Both phones are rooted, but I managed to almost brick one and so would like to clone the ROM over from the working phone .
OK so I managed to mostly fix my dead Telus Charm by flashing the ROM posted by toto221 at modmymobile (google Charm firmwares superthread, sorry I'm not allowed to post links yet).
However, this ROM, in addition to having BLUR, comes with Google search and Google Talk removed, and Spanish Yahoo as the default search provider.
On the plus side, it does come with Flash 9.1.
EDIT:
So by some weird chance, it seems that first flashing the spanish/portuguese ROM, then rebooting and reflashing the BASEM de-BLUR ROM, I now have a fully working BLUR-free Charm.

Well, fully working with Bell HSPA. But I believe they're the same network and frequencies, so, theoretically, yes.
All the files I used are on my Mediafire account:
http://www.mediafire.com/?94z9t52nvd17d
Flash first: BASLA_U3... .sbf (Spanish ROM)
Flash second: BASEM_U3... .sbf (De-BLUR ROM)
I have never flashed the T-Mobile ROM though, so YMMV.

Hmm strange. I did also flash with a messed-up "frankenstein" combination ROM with pieces of both in between, so that may have done something.
I'll post that up on mediafire too. (http://www.mediafire.com/?izn2srs2k2zbrg0)
When I get home I'll try flashing my other Charm that's still running stock Telus.
Also, by the way, is your phone unlocked? Because I bought both of mine unlocked, not sure what difference that makes.

My phone is unlocked.
I will try tomorrow.

OK, so as I thought, the T-Mobile ROM is what causes problems. It has either a different locked bootloader or a newer version, so any of the other, older ROMS (Telus, deblur, etc.) cannot be flashed anymore.
Same problem as a bunch of VZW Droid owners have. http://www.droidforums.net/forum/dr...34-stuck-bootloader-err-a5-70-39-00-27-a.html
Now the only solution would be to flash the phone with an sbf that the phone would accept. Not sure if one of these is available, or if there's any way to hack one together from the T-Mobile and deblur ones.
Interesting developments! How did you create your "frankenstein" ROM? Perhaps such a ROM could be made with the T-Mobile firmware as a base, with the radio components of the Latin American ROM then added?

Well, all I did was extract the .sbf using MotoAndroidDepacker. Then I swapped the Code group .smg files around and rebuilt it.
Problem is, I have no idea what I'm doing or what CG31, CG37 and so on mean. I can try to guess based on the file size but... We probably need someone with some Motorola expertise.
ergosteur, I have flashed your "frankenstein" combination ROM today. Still unable to boot.

That's right. Because the DEBLUR ROM has an older bootloader or something, and Motorola doesn't allow downgrades.
Notice the T-Mobile ROM has a white Motorola logo on black background while booting, and some fancy colours behind it, while the other ROMs have a solid white background and black Motorola logo.

I had hoped it was simply because the T-Mobile ROM was SIM locked but the DEBLUR (or any other) ROM still doesn't boot even after I've bought and appiled unlock codes to two T-Mobile Charms.
I think you're right - it seem the bootloader (for USB flashing) is blocking it somehow - it stops booting and shows the bootloader with some error msg.
So the conclusion is: NEVER buy the T-Mobile Charm - go for Telus' only (until a new open community bootloader arrives).
Hi,
Can anyone confirm that an unlocked TELUS CHARM would be de-blured if:
From stock Telus rom and without ever flashing T-Mobile rom I flash:
BASLA_U3_00.32.203_R02_SIGNED_USABASCLALALA02C.0R_PDS000_GCXBASLCLALALA_P051_A021_M009_HWp3_1FF.sbf (spanish rom)
And then flashing:
BASEM_U3_01.12.4_DEBLUR_SIGNED_USABASIL01RINT150AI013.0R_PDS000_UC1SOMPBASLRTINT_P025_A016_HWp3_1FF.sbf (deblured rom)
I will get a WORKING 2G and 3G 850/1900 de-blured TELUS CHARM.
Is this possible?
Best Regards.

[Q] Help! I am Confused about my G2 Version - Multiple Problems

Hello dear forumites. This site has really helped me alot in the past to solve so many problems so I am first of all using this opportunity to thank all those who dedicate time to do alot of work and assist others.
Few months ago I bought an LG G2 Sprint which was unlocked for GSM because I had to ship it to my country. It came rooted and I saw somethings at that time that I didnt understand much, things like Xposed etc. Now I have much idea about those. What got me confused was when I decided it is time I try my hands on custom roms. I chose to use Cloudy G3 V2.0. Now the thing is , the phone came with Rayglobe Flex ROM and after doing some research here on XDA i discovered that ROM is used to unlock sprint usually. Infact I didnt know Sprint LS980 is originally meant to be CDMA.
One thing I was initially confused about while trying to install CLoudy G3 was determining what exactly my version was. It came in a Sprint Box almost new, had LS980 written on it at the back, but when I go to hardware information in the phone settings, its shows
Model number : LG D802
Software information shows:
Android Version: 4.2.2
Baseband Version: M8974A- ........ (letters and figures follow)
Kernel Version: 3.4.0
Build number: Rayglobe Flex 3.5
Software Version: D80211Z
So i'm like, can it be a D802 and also be an LS980?
Now I followed the instructions here on XDA and installed Cloudy G3 and chose Sprint Variant in the option, but when it was done, it was just stock on the LG bootlogo, left it for over 30minutes, restarted it, same thing. I had to restore back the Rayglobe, thank God I backed it up.áá
Now I decided maybe it was the Rayglobe causing problems so why not return the phone back to stock, again I got all instructions here and followed. I got stock here for a while because when i went to the page to download the zip file that has the .tot file for Sprint I saw three different ones :
LS980ZV8_13.zip
LS980ZVA_01.zip
LS980ZVC_12.zip
I dont know the difference between these 3 but i chose the first one but just while LG Flash tool became to flash the stock ROM I chose, it stocked after about 2 secs and said the phone model.
Lastly I decided to try cloudy g3 again. First time I tried it that it got stock on bootlogo, I installed, went back and wiped phone before restarting. This time I just installed and restarting straight, by the time it restarted I had a black screen with:
[xxx] Fastboot mode started
[xxx]udc_start()
* forgot the numbers representing xxx but i think one was 980 or so.
Really sorry for typing this much I just wanted to spell out all the problems encoutered. After this I had to restore back the Rayglobe. Right Now I seem to be stock with this rayglobe. What do I do please.
Note: I have not been able to move to kitkat because when I go to software update, it always tells me I am already using the lastest even though its on 4.2.2.

LS980ZV8_13.zip = 4.2.2 JELLY BEAN Stock firmware for LG G2 Sprint LS-980.

And as far I can guess, D802 is the international model of LG G2 and you flashed the firmware of Sprint Variant Of LG G2.
Sprint Variant = LS-980
International = D802
All models:
LG G2 D800 for AT&T
LG G2 D802 for Europe (International)
LG G2 D802TA for Australia (International)
LG G2 D803 for Canada (International)
LG G2 VS980 for Verizon
LG G2 LS980 for Sprint
You can try to flash the D802 Stock ROM from LG Flash tool or any other flash tool program which supports D802.
But as always, backup everything including your EFS !

Thanks so much for your response. I will try to flash the stock ROM D802. But from your judgement, do you really think my phone might actually be D802 even when it came in a Sprint box and has "LG- LS980" written at the back of the phone?
Also can you paste here the exact link to the D802 firmware I need a there are so many different D802 on:

Wow, I just discovered my Light sensor and rotation is not working, after the failed attempt to flash Cloudy G3 and also a failed attempt to Return to stock ROM. went back to the Rayglobe 3.5 that came with my phone but I just discovered my light sensor is not working. Phone not rotating. Camera takes pictures inverted (probably related to the rotation problem), screen doesn't go blank when I hold the phone close to my ear when in a call (probably related to light sensor), Auto brightness also not working. Please heeeeeeelp!!!

Hello friend. Why do you say it looks weird? Actually, I was able to install cloudy g3 in the morning. Though I got stuck at lg life is good logo for a long time, it eventually booted after many restarts. After that I discovered my data and mobile network was totally disabled. I followed the instructions to use tellinfo app and that got my data rectified but mobile network was still inactive and greyed out even after following the instructions. I did everything possible but my mobile failed to work to I had to return back to the old Rayglobe ROM. Check out earlier screenshot I took.
You simply had an ls980 with build prop mods (d802 visuals in info) and an old baseband. Flash zdc baseband and a 4.4.2 stock based ls980 or multi rom and you are ok

Hello friend. Thanks for your reply. But I searched the whole of this forum and google but couldnt find anything like zdc baseband. Please would you be kind enough to provide a link to this? Also when you say flashing a 4.4.2 stock, you mean using the LG Flash Tool right?
Do you also have an idea why my Light sensor and Auto Rotate are no longer working?
Is it advisable to do a complete wipe and then trying to flash back to stock afterwards? Cos my phone has been acting funny lately. Restarts often, hangs alot plus light sensor and auto rotate not working

So, first I'll quickly detail how I upgraded. Coming from Blisspop, I ran Autorec for Lollipop (linked in OP), rebooted to recovery, wiped flashed the ZVG radios (linked in OP), flashed the rom, and it was good to go. No tot back to stock required for me (YMMV).

I did the exact same thing to my ls980 coming from Blisspop 2.3 and it just looped at the LG boot logo. Then I flashed the kernel to see if that would work and now I can't even get the lg flash tool to see my phone in download mode! I can't even flash back to stock! Before that I tried to restore my my twrp backups but none of them are working now. Kinda pissed, not blaming anybody. I just wish sometimes things weren't explained in such a bleak manner. The more specifications the better. In other words, depending on which version of Blisspop and what phone model you're using....this might now work for everybody.

Last I saw the lollipop auto-rec was named "ls980_best_version_omg_so_good"
If you didn't flash that version. You will be in a heap of trouble.
And the icon has a picture of a lollipop with "ARec" written in it.

I just uploaded a boot partitions upgrad/fix coming from ANY version of ROM or Firmware. for testing You must have a LGD panel (Not JDI) to use. See second post in UltraROM for details.

It's all good on my end. For some reason the laptop that I only use for flashing my phone to stock was set to the wrong com port. I flashed to stock, upgraded to ZVG, rooted, used AutoRec Lollipop, wiped everything except internal memory, flashed the rom, waited a little bit for the LG logo to disappear and everything has been smooth ever since. It's a nice, minimalistic, clean rom. Indeed worth the trouble, good work. One question? How can I get a menu button in the navigation bar in this rom? Is it there and I just can't find it?
Good job, man.

Hi guys. I see that someone writes here that WiFi tethering should work in this ROM but I don't even have WiFi tethering item in my settings. Should I enable it somehow? May be it is related to my network type (CDMA)? How can I have it working? Would be grateful for any advice.

Sorry to bother everyone just a noob here trying to learn on how to become more efficient on changing and updating roms.

First question, did you put the phone to cloudy 3g 2.1? It did you buy it that way?
Which service provider or carrier are you on? Sprint or someone else?
These are important as stock will only allow sprint to work.

International ROMs work on S6Edge

Wow, Installed the CarHD International ROM on my S6Edge TMobile. (NOT pushing any one ROM. Just reporting results
Installed the Simple Kernel for the W8/TMobile variant:
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23991606952609432
Unsure if I needed to do the following, but flashed an in Call audio flash fix for the 920T (Non Edge) .
Just tested In Call audio and it works. FINALLY, since we all here are twiddling our thumbs waiting for the 5.1.1 official non leaked version roll out, it's SO NICE to now try International ROMs for our S6Edge TMobile variant PS,,,,I do like the boot animation as well as Inverted colors and Battery Mods on this ROM. Just my own opinion and will be trying out many International versions when I get a chance :good:

Yes: In fact in pulled up my location in my home in a blink of the eye. Never seen it lock that fast. GPS Test app.....13Ft accuracy. states 3D fix 16 satellites in view and in use.
EDIT: Pulled up one more app just to make sure. Google Maps was first reference, BTW.
Can you share the steps you took to flash the Rom, kernel and patch? Can you use the patch with another kernel or does it have to be with the simple kernel ? Also how s the battery with your setup ?? And finally do you have the edge features with the rom your using ???

Some stuff I can answer. Some it's not been long enough. I flashed the ROM, because I INCORRECTLY misread the thread about a kernel that fixed in Call audio but this did NOT flash on the Edge.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...-stockmod-kernel-t3100395/page16#post61081515
So, do NOT use the above reference. I flashed that kernel and it would NOT update my KT kernel 5/28 date that others stated had GPS issues. Reading that thread there was a GPS patch for that KT Kernel and I was using that and the in call audio patch I had referenced in my first post. NOT trying to confuse anyone. Just giving background that after installing the ROM and using the patch and that kernel, I had no incall audio. BUT, I also noticed that the kernel wasn't installing, even though it was saying successfully installed. I checked in settings/about device and KT was still on board.
OK...enough Background. I found the current simple kernel for our edge I referenced and that worked along with the audio patch.
YES, edge features work. ONLY that Simple kernel I referenced works. I tried the 5/28 KT and the 5/18 KT kernels. NO in call audio. Deep sleep functions perfectly for me too, so I assume the battery times will be comparable to KT's. It's been 4 hours since I installed. I was at 92% at that time. I show 75% remaining as i post here and I have been listening to milk music last hour. Testing GPS for the other user. Some messaging and Browsing.
Order to install:
I factory reset after first setting up TWRP backup. The CarHD ROM offered an option to backup your EFS in Aroma installer. I picked that along with Factory wipe option. During the Install it asked for CSC region of choice. There was an option for United States with initials LRA. So I chose that.
After installing the ROM, I had KT on board, so I basically let the ROM boot up and I setup everything with KT running....but that's when I found out patching didn't help in call audio. So I basically recommend after your setup, go back to recovery and install the kernel. Then the audio patch file. THEN, delete Both cache files and reboot. You should get the Android upgrading all your user apps at this point and you should be good to go.
I'm sure you could probably flash the kernel and patch file, PRIOR to even first setting up, but I didn't do that so I can't tell you that will work. Can't hurt to try that.
INITIAL boot up before getting the Start Screen was a good ten minutes. It's NOT bootlooping. Just give it time. Get a cup of coffee and smile at the boot animation while waiting. It's definitely nice
EDIT 2:
I am copy pasting my original post so that the files are in one place here again:

u flashed CarHD International ROM on a tmobile galaxy s6 edge, and used this kernel "simple kernel r4t" and all is good, gps, calls out ans calls in, data, and wifi all works?? oh and I alos have to flash the "Patch file for in call audio "...just making sure I under stand all this, so im going to be flashing these 3 files and should be good to go???
Very interesting. Can anyone confirm. This would be HUGE!!
just as he said in his op, do not flash all 3 at once, it will work if u follow his directions to the t....
Flashing now. I am with Canadian Rogers so I chose the CSC to be RWC (since it was the only one with the "R", i think there are like 4 options that say Canada). Lets see and will report.
awesome, got it to work on my Canadian Rogers. A couple of weird things happened but so far so good!!!

I have been using my Phone all day. Audio works. Wifi works. Data works. GPS works. As another user stated, I did NOT flash all at same time. Read my post. It should work. And I am on TMobile using a TMobile S6Edge 128Gb.
BTW, I think I was the first to report using an Omega International ROM on the S5 with TMobile. So getting this to work is like a Deja Vu thing for me

I knew it would work. Not sure the CSC thing is really that critical. I know on my S5 I was using UK CSC codes on the early International F roms. I will try flashing all the stuff at same time before booting up, on next install try, but I have to say I like this ROM a lot so far. Just discovered the gradient settings for the status bar. Swipe to the right from Home screen to get the OTA updates, themes, 3Min Battery stuff, etc for this ROM. Some of the inverted colors make a few apps hard to see menu choices correctly. Had that issue with Alliance a few times depending on theme choices and all the color options. Just an FYI.

did you see that Ktoonz posted a unified kernel yesterday? I wonder if that would work too, since that simple kernel supposedly leaves all sorts of Synapse stuff on your phone, even if you uninstall it..

I am just finished setting up the apps, and waiting for the "Android is upgrading" to make sure calls and stuff work..
Did you guys set up Viper on here yet?
I'll try Echoe in a day or 2, after checking out carhd for a bit...If you try Echoe before then, please let us know as well if this same procedure worked well on it; it should, but you never know!

Which Roms can be installed with QI15 firmware

I have purchased yet another note 4 for the grandson. His firmware is QI15. Original plan was for me to use it, but since my Pixel 3a XL is still yet a lease I might as well use it. Plus it is a lot faster anyway.. His mother does not have the money to buy one for him, so I figured what the hell, he can have it.Which roms can he use.. I no longer have mine, but will root this if it is still possible.. From reading you can't downgrade from MM to LL. But can you downgrade to a earlier version of MM? Thanks.
inYes, that is correct but also cant downgrade the bootloader/modem. That is because of fused 5, binary 4. and te old official stock 5DQ15 .tar md5 can be fashed via Odin. Any other stock firmware below that has a fused 4 and flashing will result in a bricked device.
If your already on 5DQ15 and wish to flash customer roms then use TWRP and make a back up of all partitions to external sd. The any custom rom for Sprint Note 4 (sm-n910p) on Marshmallow are/should compatible. Basically, follow the instructions provided by the rom developer but do not flash a different bootloader or modem. Other than that follow all other institution. For best results, start in setting , sustem update and turm of automatic updates then update PRL and Profile beforehand. Developer Option and usb debugging enabled.
Rooting the Sprint Note 4 on 5DQ15 still possible? Yes 100% SuperSu or Magisk are the preferred root methods.

then reboot and give it time to properly set up set up. Check if hotspot is visible setting and check your apn settings. If all looks good and it should the return to TWRP and once again make a back up and rename (2019-10-05-deodexStockNoroot.....) so not to be mistaken with any other backups. After that flash root .zip and/or a custum rom of you choice.
I use the BeastMod r61 kernel by Freeza on a N4 Dtux V9 Legend rom. Fixed issues with network connection.

I 100% agree that not being able to downgrade sucks big time. I hear all the hipe about new Android OS updates but there are advantages of older versions. In 2018, I searched for a replacement with a lower bootloader but simply couldn't find one. Knowing that peope were bricking there device and Odin fails I decided to get one in fair condition. Being the type to mod and flash yet unsure of what ir how to do that as custom roms are specific to bootloader and modem. I figured, I'll practice with a cheap on incase I hard brick. At the time there didnt seem to be specific information on what rom worked with 5DQ15. I started out with Stockist Plus tidbits Q15. My old Note 4 was on [MOAR v2.1] [ULTIMATE Note5 Hybrid] on lollipop 5.1.1. and had lost of customizations prebuild. So going from the Mother Of All Roms (MOAR) on lollipop to Stockish Q15 on marshmallow, just sucked. It didnt take long before I started taking calculated risks with flashing and porting, even from other models and variations. Stepping out side the box but within boundaries. For instance, the n910f is an international version but much of its software is compatible with the n910p. For instance, this one works on n910p with most stockish roms on Sprint Note 4. With Custum roms it may conflict depending on the setting. If stockish rom or custom rom come with a "rom control"app (interface) and .zip in the link bellow come with "rom control" app thin it is not compatible. One cool feature is it adds "multiple user" in setting.

These n910f worked for me and has the advantage of separate .zips moding specific parts but warn that one of these .zip in the link , I believe its the "settings theme" .zip when flashed removes "hotspot" from the settings. Just 6.0mm zips are compatible on dq15 n010p.

The GRX is one of my favorites for stockish roms. It can be compatible with custom roms but its a complicated process. Im guessing it should work with the N7 hybrid rom. Its relatively easy and offers nice smooth customizations. Its a good idea to chech the setting of both settem and "setting GRX" as to avoid conflict. If you find it on XDA even better. For me, I find it to be the best thing on 6.0mm.

And the PK1 hotspot mod will work as long as the hotspot is in the main settings.

Good luck to you and your grandson rooting and moding.

If you install Busybox with the N7 hybrid kernel I offer a suggestion.
Busybox by Stephen (Stericson)
I never installed the Dr. Ketan rom but I did look at the Touchwiz launcher provided in the .zip and it is a MM. Dont know why you got FC's . Most likely its our latest firmware that to blame.
Wish I could remember what it was I flashed to get that in my settings as I think I remember you wanted that feature.
