Hi guys. I bought the Nokia X a few days ago and have installed Nova Launcher, sideloaded Google core services and tried using Framaroot without success (choosing the Gandalf exploit returns the message, "Failed... Error #7"). I am usually greeted by a barrage of error messages saying that Google services have crashed every time I fire up an app.
For the past couple of days, the native Nokia Launcher has been crashing repeatedly. Resetting app preferences helped restore order for a few hours before the messages began popping up again. I am being unable to do anything because before I can reach for the Nova Launcher icon, the Nokia Launcher crashes and begins re-starting.
My questions:
* Do you know of ways to launch the task manager? Or, at least let me know of how to launch Nova Launcher.
* Why do you think the apps keep crashing?
Let me tell you that the problems began after the system software updated to v1.11.
Thanks in advance.
use atom launcher turn off the system apps u don't like. there is option to turn off the system apps. my launcher also keeps force closing.

What firmware are you using? 10.0.3 or 11.1.1? you can only install google apps after you done rooting, and manually add those apps to system/app and change all permission to correct one.

Does anyone use this app? I've installed it out of curiosity and found TONS of apps that start after boot. Will pruning down this list speed up my phone at all?
I've disabled some of the apps I never use such as Mail, FM Radio, Facebook for HTC Sense, Flickr, etc. Can I go further and disable apps I DO usem but stop them starting on their own?
Some of the ones I'm thinking of are Peep, FaBook Chat, HTC Widget Downloader.
And what's Open Sense Plugin Manager?
Can I disable Bug Report? Is Rosie Utility needed since I run ADW Launcher?
Updater? DRM Protected Content Storage? Media Storage? HTC Message Uploader?
Finally, am I wasting my time with all this?!!
Why not just test it out? Try removing a few apps from start up and then reboot the phone.

Because I'm lazy and stupid, and wondered if someone else had done the hard work already, lol!
it wont stop apps starting, just stop them at boot, apps can start themseleves at any time so you will prob see all the apps running after a few mins anyway
Most apps in that list are not infact apps but widgets for apps.
I dissable everything (after boot) that I know I won't be using the widgets for.
I also dissable in "sms recieved" - Messaging, this is because I don't use stock messaging, I use handcent.
Just read all the headings, go down and dissable things you think you will never use in those situations.
If things don't play nice then you can always untick them again.
Hi Everyone,
Thanks for taking the time to look at my situation. I'm a new user and have been experimenting, trying a few different ROMs, loved the feel of cyanogenmod7 (b36) but couldn't hack the poor battery life (approx 5 hours light mod use with radio 26.04.02.17). I went back to LeeDrOid (installed v2.0 this time but have previously used 1.51 and got 24 hours battery on moderate use with the same radio). Once back at LeeDrOiD 2.0 I have the following two relatively minor but annoying issues.
1) On all my other ROM flashes android has somehow been able to detect apps I have downloaded from the market and installs them automatically. I've now wiped and flashed v2.0 3 times and it won't find or restore the my (40 odd) apps. Is this a common issue with this build? Is there a specific app or process that is responsible for restoring these apps that I can tinker with?
2) I use ADWLauncher for my home. The system keeps forgetting that I want to use it as default. It often works for about 2 or 3 uses of the home key (eg either to bring up previews, or to return to home screen from an app) and then asks me which program (ie launcher, ADWLauncher EX, even quick desk which I installed on one of the re wipes to try and see if other apps handled the home default better). I've tried clearing from setting>applications manager, and have reflashed but the fault keeps happening. Is this a common problem with this build, or is there something I am missing [most likely scenario].
Thanks in advance for any help your are able to give. The android community is an amazing thing.
Cheers,
Mike.
I was having a very similar issue with the apps not restoring after flashing a new rom. I live in a country where there are no paid apps available.. so i've been using MarketAccess. What i found is that when i forget to open MarketAccess and emulate a US sim BEFORE launching the market for the first time after a flash, my apps wont download. But when i do launch MarketAccess before launching the market, then all my apps download. So i've made it a habit now to install MarketAccess first thing after a fresh install of a new rom.
I don't know if you live in a country with paid apps though so my point may be totally irrelevant lol
As for your second concern about adw launcher... im not too sure about that. Maybe you have a task killer installed? If so that may be interfering. Uninstall that and see if it helps. You shouldnt really ne using task killers anyway. But again you might not have one so this point may be irrelevant too lol
Thanks for responding.
I'm in australia so we have the full Market apps store here. I haven't heard of market access before, is that a standard app our one specific to your zone? This problem only seems to be for this version 2 rom, and not the other roms I have flashed. Scratching head.
With the launcher, I haven't got a task killer installed. I use astro or the system task manager. It's very puzzling, the default setting will sick for a few times usually, then ask me again. Capricious little beasts, these phones
I do use juice defender though, do you think that could be cutting off the default sections while the system is in use? I'll give that a shot.

Mate, you were on the right track. It was juice defender that was killing the home screen default. I sorted it out in the configure apps section by making it visible. Stupidly, I hadn't thought of jd as a task killer. Thanks for your help.

Glad you sorted that out.
I rooted and flashed CM7 on my HTC Desire a few weeks ago, and I've noticed something a while after doing so. I can never get my Android Market app to show my downloaded apps properly. At times, it just reverts to a blank slate. My concerns are that I cannot see update notifications properly, as there my apps are missing my market app list.
A secondary concern is that when I buy an app, I'll have problems re-downloading them, and might be forced to pay for it again.
If you need more information, please tell me.
OMG, I am also facing such problem!!
Cannot see installed apps like I updated flash player using market but later it just dissapear under my apps, skyfire missing, file expert missing!
Quite a number of downloaded free apps from market are missing under my apps!!
Currently using market version 2.3.4 from supernova rom 1.0.2.6?
Any help would be appreciated!
I did a bit more research, and this may shed some light.

Hi all
I've just upgraded my nexus to JB. I have a couple of quick questions.
1) I had the phone setup as my own using my own google account. I gave the phone to my partner who now uses it. All the apps and tweaks are still there when my partner signed in using her google ID. The problem is when she checks for updates to the apps it only shows updates to the apps she installed under her own name. I wouldn't mind having to uninstall and reinstall a few but there are so many tweaks on it at this stage it would take ages. When you browse to the play store and find the app the only option given is uninstall or open - no option to upgrade although there are a few updates available for most of the apps?
2) Since updating to JB the lock screen is kind of funny. I use a pin lock but when you wake up the phone it gives half a transparent image so you see all the icons on the home screen as well as the keypad lock. I'm using go launcher. Spent a good while looking to fix this but couldn't see the optioin anywhere. I have updated go launcher to latest version
Thanks all
I really love this app it does an amazing job of replacing the stock launcher, and let's you navigate everything like settings, quick settings a well as get to apps faster (multi column app vs single app display). You can also sort by active use.
Not sure if anyone else has tried it, the only part I wish I knew how to do was replace the stock launcher for this to get some resources back.

I had it on my watch for a while and found it useful. But then I removed it because I started getting an error "screen overlay detected" while trying to run some other apps (e.g Messenger). After several trials and errors I suspected that the Weat Mini Launcher may be the root cause. So I removed it. After that the error has not occurred again. But whether that is just a co-incidence OR the Mini Launcher was really the root cause - I don't know.

Yes, this is an issue I've found to. The app has a setting to disable itself, then you can run your app with the overlay error and give it the new permissions. Then go back to your mini launcher and enable it again. You only have to do this with new apps that require new permissions the first time.
