Hi guys.
I decided to give Cyanogenmod a try, but apparently messed something really badly during the installation. After flashing boot.img with fastboot, as the installation guide says (I can't post links, but it's in the Cyanogenmod wiki under HTC One X. First google result), the phone gave me the HTC slogan splash screen, but won't go forward.
By pressing volume down and power, I can get myself into the bootloader, which says:
Code:
ENDEAVORU PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-1.72.0000
CPLD-None
MICROP-None
RADIO-5.1204.167.31
eMMC-bootmode: disabled
CPU-bootmode: disabled
HW Secure boot: enabled
MODEM PATH : OFF
It also lists the following options: FASTBOOT, RECOVERY, FACTORY RESET, SIMLOCK, SHOW BARCODE, IMAGE CRC. Recovery and factory reset are not working. If I select either one of them, the phone boots itself and ends up in the previously mentioned splash screen. I don't know what simlock does, so I haven't selected it. With barcode the same thing. Image CRC gives me some values that I don't understand.
If I select fastboot, I get the following menu: HBOOT, REBOOT, REBOOT BOOTLOADER, POWER DOWN. Hboot reverts me back to the bigger menu. Rest of the options are pretty self-explanatory.
I have a zip copy of Cyanogenmod on /sdcard/.
What can be done? Is my phone bricked for good? I am using Linux Mint 16 as my computer operating system. It is Ubuntu based. adb doesn't recognize my phone when it is in bootloader mode.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Are you install the rom or you just flash the boot.img. And next time search and read this question is answeared many times and go in the original android thread download latest nightly take the boot.img from arhiv copy the arhive to sd card install the rom and flash the boot.img.
And if you not install the CM11 rom just flash the old boot.img.

Sorry for being dumb, but how am I supposed to do this if I can't get an usb connection going between my computer and the phone? Like I said, adb and fastboot are not detecting my phone and I can't access /sdcard/ at all.
Press fastboot then connect the usb and it will say FASTBOOT USB

when you see fastboot USB check the device with fastboot devices. And when you connect the phone to computer what you see in devicemanager. try install latest drivers
Make sure your computers drivers are up to date, this may be why your computer is not detecting your device. Otherwise you must have the Android SDK correctly installed (Making sure your PC knows where to find the .dll files), to allow for fastboot to work correctly (Otherwise you can find fastboot binaries on the official HTC website). Once you've booted into the bootloader (Power button + volume down) select 'fastboot'. Your device should show 'fastboot usb' if it is correctly connected to the PC.
Remember you will not be able to access your devices files within the bootloader, so you may need to flash TWRP, which allows you access to your internal memory via your PC. In my experience, the touch function did not work for TWRP on my device, so I reflashed CWM to flash CM. Once you've flashed CM, you can then flash the boot.img found within the CM's files (after unzipped) using fastboot. Other than that, you may want to flash GAPPS before you boot up into your fresh ROM.
Hope this helps.
EDIT: .dll files for Windows only I think

i'm using official ruu ver 4.1. I just manage to root it as well. (by apply token method)
I found Android_Revolution_HD-One_X_31.1 from XDA which is 4.2.2 with sense5 & some optimize may apply. so I try to flash....
1. I use CW recovery made my backup b4 do this. & i just install (ARHDOX_31.1) zip from sd..
2.when I boot up I got 1st problem which i wait for 30 min still the screen keep me "HTC quietly brilliant"... & I tried reboot few times the problem still there. No even show me "ONE X" logo so I guess I have to do something with hboot.
3.i checked my hboot ver is 1.36(my id is HTC__044) before i flash that rom. so i thought i dont need to download & update hboot. but eventually i try to update the firmware which it same version 1.36 suggested.
4.i follow the step from youtube lesson but i just manage to relock by "fastboot oem lock" & i got ... "FAILED (command write failed (Unknown error))" from cmd. but there's still my HTC ONE X relock! (I'm not too sure in my memory when is it the error first appear.)
5.i realized that may be a problem to me because i can't use recovery to load my backup. & I tried fastboot devices, i got:
List of devices attached
SH24KW117994 fastboot
but when i get back to hboot i got this:
"failed to open usb master mode"
I tried adb devices i got:
SH24KW117994 offline
i can't use adb command, but my fastboot always get me this error.
when i tried "fastboot oem rebootRUU" i got "... FAILED (status read failed (Unknown error))" but after that "finished. total time: 8.300s" & i got silver htc & black baground mode. but i tried "fastboot flash zip firmware.zip" it show me "sending 'zip' (12875 KB)..." hang on this message but nothing further.
6. I checked my driver it's work ok(maybe) in fastboot mode. "My MTC" in Android USB Devices. BUT WHEN I TURN IN TO HBOOT shown "Unknown Device" in Universal Serial Bus Controllers. (No more Android USB Devices).
on the onex screen, it showns

Did you fastboot flash the boot.img after flashing the ARHD zip? If not, your device won't boot!
Gesendet von meinem HTC One X mit Tapatalk 4
Your device will boot without the new boot.img, you just won't be able to communicate with your device, eg: no signal or WiFi or bluetooth. I have experienced issues like the one you are having and probably worse, can you get into the bootoader? If so select fastboot and in your cmd window type: fastboot erase cache
If all goes well you should be able to get it booting. If its still stuck try reflashing your rom. Also, there's an all in one toolkit here for the one x. Try that, it'll simplify what you are doing.
Good luck man

Thanks ya guys! I downloaded the all in one toolkit & I manage to unlock bootloader by re-apply tocken from HTCdev. So I just go on your suggest to get boot.img & flash it. Since I already unlocked, mean I got no problem to load CWrecovery & I try again reflash ARHD. YES everything done as well. now I'm using it! Cheer!:highfive:
But I still wonder, what happen to my phone? Does anyone experience that issue? It seems like no driver for bootloader(cause i can't use adb, no device list), but in fastboot mode i cant send file to phone, it seems certain commands may apply .

It happens from time to time, as I said I have had worse problems following in the same steps I have used countless times. Don't stress, take a breath, relax and take another swing at it. Don't forget to make a backup AND copy that to your pc. Terrible things happen sometimes and that backup is the difference between starting over completely and just picking up where you left off.
Anyhoo, glad things came right for you
The error you are receiving...

...is because you have a USB plug IN the phone when you start the bootloader. Either wall charging or connected to the PC.
That's all it is.
It doesn't interfere with fastboot after it's started. If you want it to go away, plug USB cable in AFTER starting fastboot.

Guys hello,
yesterday i tried to unlock bootloader & gain root access for the first time. But i had some problems after unlocked bootloader. until that point everything was great. but when i was trying to build a "custom recovery" via HTC One X all in One Kit V2.5, maybe i did something wrong. at the moment, my phone can not complete a factory reset. stays HTC logo on a white screen until the charge is off. when i reboot my device, my device is in "airplane mode" and i can not close it. i can not use Wifi, or telephone signal. and i do not know what the problem is...
when i enter fastboot screen, i get that
"failed to open USB master mode
loading PJ46IMG.zip image
failed to open USB master mode
please plug off USB" message, too.
when i try to fastboot clockworkmod.img, on the cmd screen, i got "error: can not load Recoveries/CWM.img". maybe the problem is here. i deleted something. and i do not know what that is...
on my fastboot screen, i see this:

and my CID No is : TMOB101..
and one more thing...
when i select RECOVERY via power button, i do not get a menu! i see a telephone icon and over that there is a red triangle and a ! sign inside that triangle. if i do not do anything, telephone reboots after a while. but on that screen if i press, "power + vol up (not vol down)", i get a small menu:
"Android system recovery <3e>
Reboot system now
Apply update from external storage
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
apply update from cache
Apply update from internal storage"
i do not see other menu sections that other people see...
and while this menu is active, i get a message as :
"starting cw install
Enable host mode
Disable host mode"
when i press, pow + vol up button again, host mode becomes again enable... and after that telephone reboots...
but everything is again the same... no signal, no wifi, can not turn off Airplane mode... Please help me...
i am very very new on this rom/root thing. so can you please tell me in details? will i be able to use this phone again?

thank you very much. now, i did it. and i installed Android revolution HD 33.1. and all is okay.
Thank you for taking time to read this!
I have a htc one x international version, i successfully unlocked the bootloader installed clockwormod recovery v5.8.4.0 and rooted the phone installing superSU without any problems.
I have been using some mod rom for a long time, And recently updated BUSYBOX, and then turned off phone. Now and now i cant get passed the htc boot screen, i have tried deleting cache, loading a previous restore img from 6 months ago, rebooting bootloader but none of that worked, here are the details from the boot screen:
p.s if you can get me into the phone, would be a life saver! or stock android 4.x that would be an added "Brucey" bonus.
Thank you again for your time, best regards

Hi there!
I went into Fastboot, and only have:
HBOOT
REBOOT
REBOOT BOOTLOADER
POWER DOWN
so i went back into HBOOT
RECOVERY
-Wipe Cache Partition
I have previously also tried fixing user permissions and wipe dalvik cache.
Still no joy I can mount the SD Card so my stuff is still there, i have backed up my photos and whatsapp as I'd like to keep the chat msgs haha.
Do you have any other ideas rudresh?
Thanks
To install a new rom i suggest to update the hboot. It's to low for current developed roms/mods.
Post the outcome of
Fastboot getvar version-main
Get you back to stock and update the phone. Then re-root or install a custom rooted rom

many thanks for answering my noobie questions!
It's a command via fastboot. You put the phone in the bootloader where you see FASTBOOT USB in red when you connect the phone to the pc. Then open a command prompt on the pc from the fastboot folder and type in that command.
Download HTC one x fastboot tools. Install htc drivers. Open fast boot tool folder. Hold shift button and right click then chose open in command window from dropdown list. Boot your device into boot loader. Connect your device. Select fastboot in device. Then it should turn fastboot to fastboot usb highlighted in red color. In command prompt type fastboot devices. If your devices serial number appeared in command window then your device is connected. Type fastboot erase cache. After erasing cache reboot.

Relock the bootloader :
Fastboot oem lock
Then keep the phone in the bootloader and execute the ruu with admins rights. Right click the ruu.exe and choose
Run as administrator
It flashes the phone to stock. Boot it up after that and go to settings-about-software update and check for ota ..... Do this after every ota you get until you get no notifications anymore. Report back with issues or when you have updated the phone multiple times.

First one was perfect getting updates galore!
Quick question: My old apps are still on the SD Card, so say i install Whatsapp / WeChat from the PlayStore, and move to SD Card will it link up the old data? or just overwrite the folder so Titanium back up is my best bet.
Just gonna finish them then i guess flash SUupdate.zip or whatever it is and i can use titanium back up to restore my apps.
Many thanks again

Yeah via TB is a good option have fun
Hi there
I have an HTC inspire 4G and I'm trying to install a rom on it just to get to work :/
And I've already fixed hboot problem thanks to chrisb906 and I tried several RUUs and it doesn't seem to work even if they are successfully installed!
If I boot it normally I get : 1 vibration > htc green splach screen > 2~3 secs later > 7 vibrations > black screen > nothing!
here is what I get in HBOOT

Do you have a custom recovery?
If you dont, you can find one here 4ext recovery
Download it and extract the .img file to ur adb/fastboot directory.
Rename the .img file to recovery.img
Boot your device into bootloader.
Connect your device to your PC and enter...
Code:
fastboot devices
(just to be sure.
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Once its done flashing, reboot your device into recovery.
Transfer a rom to ur sd card.
Flash it and flash inpiremod if not added to rom already.

Wait i think i am beginning to get you. Pls answer these questions
1. When you boot into bootloader and then select recovery, does it vibrate and gives you a black screen?
2. When you turn it off and connect it to a computer via usb, does the charging light come on and shows up as QHSUSB_DLOAD on your computer?
3. When you try flashing ruu, via placing the ***IMG.zip on your sdcard and boot to bootloader, does it detect the ruu, asks you weather you want to flash. And after pressing volume up for yes, its looks as if its flashing but after rebooting stays the same?
4. Or when you try to flash the system.img via fastboot, does it gets stuck flashing?
1) yes, it vibrates and then 7 vibrations (after 2~3 secs) and then a black screen, and hitting the power button wont reboot the phone
2) yes, and even when it is on and on black screen it gives it to me
3) yes
3) no, never tried it

Lol..you are in serious trouble.
You might be wondering how i knew all that.
Cause it happened to my old Desire HD(Still didnt know weather it was a DHD or Inspire 4G.
It turned out it was emmc problem.
You should think of getting a new device or getting a new motherboard as that was what i did.
I followed an unbrick thread here.
It never worked for me. But you could try.
I remember i installed a wrong QHSUSB_DLOAD drivers which kind of corrupted the bootloader.
So watch out what drivers you use. There might be a possiblity, your might work.
Hello everyone!! I have for four hours now, tried to fix my newly bought HTC One X. I have bought this phone, softbricked from a friend for £35, as it was a bargain if I could get the phone to work. Here is my problem:
Phone loads directly into Fastboot when you switch it on. I've searched online, followed countless steps, and it says that I need a RUU file that is higher than my current one. If I can get this file, then I am able to charge it using the USB with script in CMD method, and then follow the steps on the RUU file. My current RUU file number is 4.18.401.4
Now I've searched everywhere for a version higher that's compatible. I cannot find one.
So I think I have to go through the S-OFF method. But I can't due to it booting in fastboot.
From what I know about what has happened to the device. My friend wanted to flash custom rom. He did not do a nandroid backup (He forgot) and then tried to flash the rom which was incomplete. This has left him in Fastboot mode.
All I remember is earlier on when I was experimenting, it saying:
HTC__01 something like that. If that helps at all.
Here is all information about the device. Please!! Please help me!!

No RUU for this high main version you need just to flash custom recovery, then install the rom and flash the boot.img from rom archive and that is everything and the recovery is diferent for KitKat, JB and Lolipop all the 3 recoverys are different

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR REPLYING SO FAST! I really wasn't expecting such a fast reply.
So, am I correct in saying.
I find the latest CWM recovery for htc 1x
download it
>>How would I flash it please, through cmd or not, if so, do you have the cmd code by any chance.
Then, I download stock rom from internet, I'm guessing it's going to work similar to the samsungs, I just find any stock rom for the HTC 1 X and it should work fine.
In CWM Recovery, I flash the stock rom as if it were a custom rom.
Wipe Cache
Wipe DavLink
Format
Then flash the boot image and reboot.
I'm guessing that is it and it would work then?
I'm so sorry if I am wrong and you have to explain. This whole S-ON thing and HBOOT is getting to my mind... I'm not used to all this !!
EDIT: i'm not entirely sure what you mean when you say that all three recoveries are different
EDIT2: So when I download the ROM I leave it in the zip folder and just flash like normal. Or do I extract to get the boot.img

You want to install stock JB rom on your phone then:
1. Download Philz recovery 5.15.9 then go in recovery and mount sd card copy your nandroid backup to a folder on the sd card. For flash recovery use command from cmd fastboot flash recovery nameofrecovery.img
2. You are in recovery format data, system cache and dalvik cache then restore your nandroid backup
3. Go in fastboot and flash the boot.img from nandroid backup with the command fastboot flash boot boot.img
4. Reboot and that is
Also you will have to unlock your bootloader again if it is relocked
Boot Loader Loop, Unlocked, S-Off, Rooted HTC M8 Tmobile
A year ago I believe I used HBoot and or Firewater to root my M8. I recently removed some applications that seemed to make my phone act funny, and now the phone is stuck in a boot loop, or rather just a boot and stop at the second HTC "One" screen. Not exactly a loop.
I've download ADB tool and tried the fastboot method to install TWRP but have no success because the computer does not recognize the phone while running ADB or Fastboot, therefore I cant install TWRP and am stuck in the bootloader menu. I have tried various different cables and restarted the pc several times, and installed htc sync and other drivers necessary for that process. Also uninstalled and installed different drivers later as well. Now im not sure what i have installed but I have access to the phones internal drive via explorer.
Using Hboot.

Recovery leads to nothing and eventually returns to the HTC One menu stop.
Reset does nothing, acts like fast boot actually.
Ramdump under fastboot seems to works, and does produce log files.
While the phone was still active, I managed to create a full "manual" backup of the device by plugging it in and backing up/copying the entire internal memory. After screwing with the phone and every option for several hours I managed to access the files of the internal memory by switching to recovery mode via the boot menu and then plugging in the phone via usb to comp while deleting the drivers at the same time. I tried a full restoration of the internal backup i made, by copy and replace if the same method, but still nothing.
Ive attached an image of the Hboot menu with the details and options of that Hboot for those of you familiar with hboot.
The ideal situation, or what i'd like to do is restore the phone without flashing the rom and loosing the information, then id like to upgrade to lollipop or a new custom rom I found here actually, but the first step is getting back into the phone which i would be very grateful for in general.
also, not great with cmd and all that stuff, I do have sdk tools downloaded and installed but not great with that either. If there was a more simple way to replace existing files in the phone via the file manager (because im able to access the internal drive via the file manager, that would be the most ideal and easiest situation. But knowing the path and the boot files and which files are necessary for boot is what im looking for as well.
Also i know how to flash a sd and htc has a sdcard slot as well. Also i should mention that prior to the phone being screwed up I did want to delete some internal certificates because i believe someone installed a spy application on the phone, hence the reason for all of this checkup and removal anyway. In the process of trying to do that, i followed a tutorial on this forum which suggested I create a security lock pin, which I did. This could also be the cause of the problem not being recognized by the adb or fastboot script.
Who ever helps me do that gets a tip.
Please help.
It's not easy to find a nandroid backup with such old version no.
You already backup your internal memory data/files.
Why don't just run RUU to start fresh at lollipop level.
Run this RUU - RUU_M8_UL_L50_SENSE60_MR_HTC_Europe_4.16.401.10_Radio_1.25.214500021.06G_20.68.4196t.01_F_release_417003_signed.exe
Download here : http://androidruu.com/?developer=M8
What you need :
Put the device in bootloader/fastboot mode
A windows PC with USB2.0
Right click the exe and select run as administrator and follow the instructions ..
Won't that delete all my current contacts/logs/texts, etc?

By the way, Your rom was the was one i already downloaded and wanted to install for M8. The skydragon for M8. SO it's cool that you're helping.
Yeah .. the RUU will wipes everything .. that's why I said start fresh.
SD ROM/any lollipop based ROM won't work on your current hboot, too old/outdated version.
Good luck .. it's 4 am here, good night
