[Q] Only Download mode is accessible - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II

Hi everyone. I am having an issue with my Galaxy Note 2 AT&T variant. I tried to flash a rom, but was unsuccessful. I normally don't have an issue like this, but I feel that the phone is soft bricked. Download mode is only accessible and I can not enter recover. If I leave the phone to try to boot up it only gets to the Samsung splash screen. I have tried looking for .pit files and flashing stock recoveries via Odin. I am unsure of what I can do from here. I have also tried to use Android toolkit, but it notifies me that USB debugging is not enabled and I cannot find a way to enable it through Odin or toolkit.

What bootloader were/are you on ? A 4.3 or earlier?
If its 4.3 you may just need to flash this... In step #2

And what did you try and flash?

[Q] Help! Note 2 bootloop, no recovery

Hey, so my note 2 (sgh-i317m variant) running 4.3 is stuck on the samsung screen and I cannot boot into recovery (it just stays at the samsung screen). What I believe caused this is the fact that I originally had it rooted, but flashed back to stock via odin to update to 4.3. Then I proceeded to re root it via odin and the cf auto root, however I forgot to factory reset before doing this. Now its stuck on the samsung screen and I cannot even get it into recovery mode. I can get it into download mode but whenever I try reflashing the stock rom (I have two different ones) neither of them work and Odin just displays "fail". I really dont know what else to do, hoping someone will know, thanks in advance.
Friend, try Google for KIES3. After installation under the Menu bar..look into something recoveries..
There you'll need to enter your model and serial no.
Boot your hp to DOWNLOAD MODE and plug to your usb. Then let KIES do its work.
Hope it helps

[Q] Bricked but is it hard or soft bricked?

I turned on my rooted Virgin Mobile Galaxy S 3 when it got stuck on the Samsung logo. The logo is animated but the phone will not progress past it. The phone is unable to boot into recovery or download mode; when I try to do so, the phone behaves as if I tried to simply turn it on normally. Samsung Kies is unable to connect to my phone but it does notice when I connect the phone to my computer. Odin also knows when the phone is connected. This occurred after using Odin for something I downloaded from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1739426.

You are actually at the forum for the i747M/U variants of the SG3. To see if we can help you, however, you would need to provide more info ... You said you were doing stuff with your phone? Were you trying to flash a firmware or something? If so, what were you flashing and at what stage did your phone get stuck in the bootloop?
It's not a hard brick if your phone still makes some attempt at starting.

I was flashing a download found in the link I have given (the newest Bell one). My phone had progressed past the first sign of the Samsung logo, past the screen saying "Samsung GALAXY S III" and past the animation with the sound before getting stuck on the next Samsung logo.
After flashing, did you boot to recovery and wipe data and cache?

As I have said, I am unable to boot to recovery or boot to download mode. I did not wipe data and cache.
Actually, after removing my battery for approximately forty minutes, I was able to boot into download mode. When I attempted to boot into recovery mode after turning on the phone normally (which resulted in the phone being unable to progress past the Samsung logo), I was once again only able to turn on the phone normally and get stuck on the logo.

I recommend getting your hands on the Android SDK and using adb to boot into download and recovery modes. I got a water damaged d2att from friend a few months ago and the old volume down key doesn't work and using the command prompt and adb, you can get it to boot to whichever mode you want.

Virgin Mobile is a 'virtual' mobile network operator but ports mainly on the Sprint CDMA network. Unless your phone specifically had Bell firmware or was porting on Bell, flashing the Bell version would be wrong and could, nay would, cause a brick. Thankfully, though it appears to be only a soft brick and may be recoverable by re-flashing compatible firmware. Unlike Sprint and Virgin which are CDMA networks, Bell is GSM so I'd very much doubt that the firmware you were trying to flash was compatible with your phone. The fact that your phone is still trying to boot suggests that the bootloader is still intact but the system itself has been compromised. Can you remember what Android version your phone was on the last time it functioned normally? If so, I would suggest you visit Sammobile.com or androidfilehost.com and find the same version (or higher) for your phone and then flash to return to stock or near stock. You can always re-root afterwards or flash a custom ROM when your phone is back to working normally.
Since you can get into download mode, you can flash custom recovery in case the stock file you find is a zip file to be flashed via recovery. You should be able to get into recovery mode if you try the button combo again after you have flashed custom recovery via Odin. Otherwise, if it's a *.tar file, just flash directly with Odin.

I have successfully managed to flash stock filmware on my phone and now it is working fine. The post which I got the file that I attempted to flash stated that the Bell version would work with the Virgin Mobile phones. My Galaxy S 3 was running Android 4.3.

Glad to know it's working fine now. Unless the firmware for the 2 phone models have identical build numbers, I'd be surprised the post suggested that cross-flashing may be OK.

problems

Hi,
Hi I was given an s3 sprint. It doesn't get past the sprint screen, but when plugged in it goes all the way until played with then it'll reboot. It does however go into download and recovery mode which leads me to believe its a software problem. The phone is not rooted/ fully stock. Could someone walk me through rooting, installing custom recovery and ROM via Odin? Also there seems to be no water damage. Per download mode:: binary-samsung official
System satus-official
Qualcomm secure boot enable
Warranty-0
Bootloader ap swaev-2
PS I already tried Odin but failed at aboot mbn. Now upon booting it reads ... firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again?
Pleas ask in here instead. Also first get the phone working by either flashing it using kies 2.6, or by using odin and flashing this image. Be sure to unzip it first.

Bootloop - No Custom OS - No USB Debugging

Hello All,
I am using Samsung Note 3 Neo, unfortunately I have struck up with bootloop. I have read around and tried all the bootloop fixes but they all require the phone to have USB Debugging enabled prior for the fixes to work. Sadly for me, I didn't have the prior knowledge that that was available so I am stuck with a soft bricked phone with no work around.
Any help on issue is greatly appreciated.
Thanks in Advance
You can still access download mode (volume down+home+lock), right? Try flashing TWRP using odin ( i don't think you need to have usb debugging enabled) and then wipe everything and flash stock rom. Or if instaling TWRP does not work, flash directly stock rom using Odin. Hope that helps

I am not able to access download mode, I tried using volume down+home+lock button, Its not getting into Custom OS mode. Just black screen blinks and same samsung logo will come for thrice it will blink and then goes into bootloop
Hmm.. Can you access your stock recovery (home+lock+vol. up)? If you can, try doing factory reset and reboot. Not being able to enter download mode is really rare

Is your phone a Note 3 or a Note 3 Neo? These phones are two different variants.
Can you access download mode? (Phone off, press volume minus + home key + power at the same time until you see the phone starting to ask you if you want to procceed to access to download mode)
If yes, your model number is written at the top, download the latest firmware available for your phone model on samfirmware and flash it using odin, follow a tutorial if you are unsure cause you don't wana mess your phone up more that it already is.
If it cannot access download mode, this is gonna be a bit more complicated :/

Erase some apk with adb and stuck on reboot

Hi! I hope some one knows how to restore apk on a Galaxy S9 plus
I was trying to get rid of Bixby and erase some apks using adb app control, I have a backup of the apks in the computer, the problem right now it's that the phone has many photos and most of them are important , I would like to know if there is a way to avoid wipe data/ factory reset, via adb or Odin.
I'm stuck on loop after the operator logo.
It doesn't boot in safe mode.
I already have android 10 ROM but I'm afraid that if I flash it with Odin , it will wipe the user data, if there is way to Just update, or restore this files please let me know.
Thank you very much for you help.

Hi! I have tried several times, and I get failure to start, the phone is detected but the flash doesn't initiate, sometimes I get this screen, sometimes it says fail .
I have installed Samsung USB drivers, from the
Samsung Android USB Driver | Samsung Developers
You need the driver only if you are developing on Windows and want to connect a Samsung Android device to your development environment over USB.
developer.samsung.com
And Odin from here
Patched Odin 3.13.1
For those looking for a modified, modded, or patched odin that is a newer build than all the fake and renamed prince comsy 3.12.3 versions floating around. I patch recent Odin versions to offer similar functionality to the princecomsy; in that...

I used the original Samsung USB cable and tried the 3 USB ports in the laptop
What else can be happening?
Thank you very much!

did you try booting into the download mode twice?
Once and then again and then start the odin.
I had to do that.
I had to flash the official firmware myself because my phone keeps crashing on the homescreen.
Didnt solve it but I did flash it properly.

go to the recovery.
connect to the PC.
open odin.
click on "reboot to bootloader"
It should go to to download mode.
what does your download mode screen say?
When I was doing this process I tried reflashing the latest rom but that didn't solve my boot loop issue.
So I flashed an older version of the rom.
Make sure the version you download is compatible with your phone.
You have G9650ZHU9FUG2 so only roms with 9 will work.
I flashed that old version and it didn't work, phone still stuck.
Then I flashed the latest one again and then my phone worked.
I used odin from the link you posted.
Odin3 v3.13.1
actually what i would suggest is downloading/re-downloading samsung usb drivers. otherwise most phones won't respond to odin even in download mode without it

Hi! Today I have successfully flashed the exact firmware that the phone had ( there is no newer) using a different laptop (it's true if the problem persist with Odin, use another laptop)
I got success message, at the very first time, and when the phone reboot, nothing , stuck as it was before, so I erased cache partition and no luck, still stuck on reboot, I have also tried repair apps , and reboot sistem now, what else should I do?
Thank you very much!
Hi! I want the community to know that using the APK adb app for Samsung it's a bad idea, after successfuly flashing the firmware and performing a factory reset several times the phone remain stucked, I downloaded about 10 different firmwares and flash them all times without an error, and the phone was bricked and stuck in boot. So I took it to the official service and nothing, still the same, then I found an external service that flash the device with a little box that they said they paid in advance for credits for using that box, it took them one full week to revive the phone, also they had to flash it several times. In conclusion, if you buy Samsung, stick with the garbage apps the throw, if you mess with the system in some way as the official technician said, the phone will be nearly unrecoverable for privacy benefits for the user. Thank you very much for the help to the community!
