Unlock / UMTS Menu hidden - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 3

Hey guys,
I have a Note 3 N900T with T-Mobile...
I can get to the service mode and all, but the UMTS menu isn't there.. Is there a way to enable that "hidden option"
Trying to unlock it.

The available menus are determined by the modem. On my S4, when I upgraded the phone to 4.3, it required a 4.3-compatible modem, which didn't have the menu you're talking about. So pretty much it's "gone" as far as I know.

Oh wait, hold up. I know what you're talking about
Two answers:
The mode preference menu: *#2263#
The information menu: *#197328640#
Both of these also work on the S4 (I know because I still have mine that I'm about to sell). I can't figure out how to get to the old "band/frequency preference" menu though.
I actually saved these in my phone as contacts so I can launch them whenever I want. Hope that's what you were looking for.

Yeah sadly.. I know about those but the *#197328640# Just brings up debug menu in the servicemode. no umts/lte and etc.. just..

That's all i see. Can't go to main menu or anything sadly.

I know what you're talking about, the menu from 4.2.2. They either changed the dialer code or removed it from the modem. What are you trying to do? Force a specific frequency, or do the free unlock method?

No problem! Unfortunately, that method won't work since the Note 3 shipped with 4.3 I believe. BUT I can get you close to free:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.chainfire.regionlockaway
This app (requires root) will remove the region lock and also unlock the phone. Totally worth it IMO.

The free unlock method doesn't work on 4.4.2 ROM.... tried it... N u can't downgrade...

Hi,
I had the same problem but I was able to go to UMTS menu by following this thread

see if it works for you. However, I was not able to unlock it. Nevertheless, this is one step closer to unlocking this way.

It is quite simple to enable as well. You can do it through the app pimp my rom (which I am not affiliated with).
Note: This only works for stock roms running stock kernals with root. Also the tower/network in your area must have it turned on.
Step one: Obtain root. It is required.
Step two: download pimp my rom app from the play store.
Step three: in the app go to tweaks and select telephony
Step four: on the bottom turn on amr-wb
You're done!
When will you notice a difference?
You will notice a difference on 3g/4g only. You will also only notice the difference when calling landlines or other people with amr-wb enabled. However other people will notice you sound clearer.
Warning: amr-wb will NOT be active on edge or gprs service. I take no responsibility for this working or not working on your device or any damage caused by the use if this guide.

Yes and yes. It's also enabled when you use wifi calling by default on stock rom. One reason that wifi calling sounds better.

I enabled it too. Call quality doesnt sound any different. I can tell the difference when im on wifi calling.
This is the command in build.prop to enable... I remember seeing this line since CM7. Sadly, tmobile is the only one to enable it since most have gone to lte which if I'm not mistaken high voice qual isn't even enabled until lte advanced (volte). Voice qual in amr wb won't be too noticeable unless the other caller is tmo and has it enabled or maybe on land line. Maybe all carriers should switch it on until lte advanced. Thank goodness tmobile is starting with it or so I hear.

Made both the CSC edit and the build.prop modification and no change so far. Currently running my own kitbash of the N7105XXDMC3 ROM and kernel.
Update: I finally got around to making it work a while ago: you actually need to factory reset the phone for the related CSC settings to engage.
For minimal hassle:
-Apply appropriate CSC edits to your ROM. (There was a so-called "universal enabler" that forced WB-AMR on all networks, leading to no in-call audio on incompatible networks, not good.)
-Backup your whole phone through CWM or TWRP
-Factory reset
-Skip through setup menus, check that WB-AMR is activated through service mode menus.
-Reboot to recovery and restore backup. Check that WB-AMR is still active, make a test call just in case.
Done.
Dial this number to enter service mode to check just fyi... *#197328640#*
It seems like you need to be running stock or something because I've been unable to get it working on 4.1.2 Jedi. Either that or there might be something we're missing. OP needs to clarify what rom/kernel/modem version he's using.

No option to toggle between networks?! [SOLVED BUT NEW PROBLEM!!]

Unlocked SGH-I317M - Rooted - CleanRom 4.0.5
I've been pulling my hair out trying to figure out why I'm not picking up an LTE signal when a friend on a phone tells me to just toggle to LTE in mobile network settings. The only problem is, that doesn't exist on my phone for some reason. All that appears in my mobile network settings is "Mobile data", "Data roaming", "Access Point Names" and "Network operators"...nothing to switch between networks. Why isn't my device displaying this setting?
Did you used to have LTE? Have you added the proper APN settings for your carrier?
Re: No option to toggle between networks?!
Yeah im running the same rom and my LTE works fine. You probably need to flash the K7 modem. There are no settings to switch. Only aosp roms have that option.
Go here to get the modem you need.

No i had an iPhone 5 previous to my note 2 so no LTE (carrier didn't have LTE for them until just a couple days ago.) I have added the APN settings correctly. There is an option within the APN settings called "bearer" where i have the option to select LTE but when i set it to that, i get no data at all so I have to set it back to "unspecified"
If your carrier only got LTE a few days ago your sim card/plan might not have LTE enabled. That possible in your case?
You are lucky I saw this! I just fixed my settings to reenable LTE like 5 minutes ago.

thanks anyways! I'm beginning to think that it's the ROM that's causing this issue so I'm going to try and go back to stock. Can somebody help me with this? I'm brand new to androids so I'm not very confident with everything yet. How do I go back to stock while staying rooted? and will doing this make my device carrier locked again or will it remain unlocked? I have already done a nandroid and titanium backup but I'm not sure what the next step is. If someone could help me out I'd appreciate it

In the"phone information" app, go to "device information" (first option) and from there you change the "set preferred network type" to LTE only or whatever you want. You can force lte, force Edge(gsm), basically any combo you want to do is available from this menu.

I download the app called "phone info" as the app "phone information" does't seem to exist. There is no first option called device information. As soon as i open the app, i'm on a page when its just a big list of my phones info
It was my ROM that wasn't giving me the option to chose a network mode. I went back to factory and viola it was there. BUT...no WCDMA/LTE option. Only GSM/HSPA. I've been told that there aren't enough towers to support all of the LTE devices, would this be the cause of LTE not showing up in the network mode? I would think that it would still let me chose LTE and just bump me down to HSPA if it couldn't connect. What're your thoughts guys?
Bump!
What CSC are you using? There are some CSC settings that could hide the "LTE" string in network settings, making it go from LTE/GSM/WCDMA, GSM only, WCDMA only to GSM/WCDA, GSM, WCDMA. That was only cosmetic in my case though. (Been a while since I've run the T889V ROM, I expect the I317M's to be similar in that respect.)

The M8 also has a power saver mode for regular use. "You'll be surprised how long your battery lasts." Shortly after launch, there will be an extreme power saver mode, which looks like it's a simplified menu of options.

I've done a bit of changing things, so if I've already forgotten what's stock and what's modded, I thought in settings --> power there's a checkbox for powersave (*not* extreme powersave). It's possible I saw something here on xda that talked about a sqlite edit to a settings file that turned that on. I see you have a Skyfall signature, so assuming you're already S-OFF and rooted yourself, I'm sure you can also make that change.

Edge Notifications

Hello XDA Members,
I have recently purchased the galaxy s6 edge and wow what a gorgeous phone,
I was just wondering if there is an app or a setting that turns on the Edge notification feed when new notifications come in?
I would of thought that this would of been built into the phone as it sounds really practical
Thank you in advanced

I have been looking for this feature too, but nothing has come up yet. @trailblazer101 is making a lot of feeds, maybe he can do this for us?
I've been hoping we can have it turn on and off for a set amount of time. Was also hoping to change the activation method from a swipe left to right to a simple double/triple tap.

I have been looking for this feature too, but nothing has come up yet. @trailblazer101 is making a lot of feeds, maybe he can do this for us?

This kind of more advanced development can be put into action once either us Verizon users get root, or a Sprint/T-Mobile falls from the sky :3 lol I already know where/how I can do exactly what you mentioned, it's just a waiting game

The OP states that if you send a PM asking for the Donation version, I will give it to you.

Did you flash the right version for you version/build? That's rather important, since there's enough differences between them to cause that. Also I have learned Alliance Framework + Cocktail AutoOn don't mesh too well just yet. If you definitely flashed the right version, for your carrier/version/ROM/build then post on that Thread what you are running (ex: 925V OE2, the more information the better), which version you tried, and I'll take a look. However most packages were confirmed working for their respected counterparts.

RCS x Unlocked x T-Mobile?

Does anybody have RCS working in Samsung Messages and Google Messages now with T-Mobile, on the unlocked Note? According the the Verge, it's available:
https://www.theverge.com/2020/5/26/...oss-carrier-universal-profile-google-messages
Still doesn't work for me.
I have it working for Google Messages, with a factory unlocked Note 10+, on Tmobile

How did you get it working? I've been checking 'Chat Features' and it's never available.

I had to play around with mine a few times to get it to work. The main thing was to be off of wifi. Then go into the settings and select chat features once or twice even if it shows disabled. A reboot also was needed for me to get it, but make sure you're off of WiFi.

I joined the beta when it was available. After that, whenever it went all wonky, I would toggle it on and off a few times and that worked.

I actually just flashed the latest T-Mobile firmware because I was having issues with WiFi calling with my phone being unlocked and RCS is working now on Samsung messages.

Like this?
If Samsung messages isn't getting you RCS, check to see if your CSC is set to t-mobile.

Wow that actually worked. Thanks. I've been wondering how to do it since last year.

So in other words you banged your phone around to work like I did? Haha it was so odd that I had to do that to make it work.
