I had my sprint galaxy tab 3 7.0 rooted then unrooted to get the update. I'm having trouble updating it. It will download the update start installing it and then at 21% I get error. Do anybody know how to fix the problem? I do have stock recovery.
You either do a factory reset then try or download the stock rom (firmware) from sammobile.com then flash by odin

I just got a s3 the other day and was gonna root and install some roms. My s3 has been updated to the 4.1.2 ota. I was simply wondering if I were to root it and install a rom and decided to go back could I simply flash the odin 4.1.1 image for it and then go ahead and update ota again? Had done this with my note 2 before and was just wondering if anyone else had any insight. Thanks
****EDIT****: i decided to just try for myself seeing as my s3 is just my play around device and i always have my s4. i flashed the latest android 4.1.1 before they had the ota update UCDLK3. Odin went great and then when i booted back up i stuck at the samsung screen. but to fix just went into stock recovery and factory data reset and boom my device booted up into a clean fresh state. no problems with wifi or anything. so for those of u wanting to unlock your device but had updated to 4.1.2 or maybe just want a clean slate (my position) then i can confirm it works just fine. and then you can just do the ota again if wanted (doing this as i type ). hope this helped.
You can flash with Odin. I used the all in one. The WiFi will stop working on stock ROM. When you flash new ROM WiFi will work again. You may have a couple of bugs to work out but it is worth it. Just google to find solutions. Good luck.

Hello everyone,
I have made a stupid mistake and need help before I proceed since this might kill my device.
I had updated note 2 to official samsung 4.3 OTA for India.
Today I decided to root my phone and installed Phoenix Rom 15.0 + 15.7 update.
After flashing v15.0 Phoenix rom my wifi didnt work. I tried dr ketans wifi patch. still wifi didnt work
After flashing v15.7 Phoenix rom I was stuck in a bootloop.
Now since nothing seemed to work I ended up flashing MJ5 bootloader.
I realised it too late that due to knox one cannot downgrade to older bootloader.
I cant even charge my phone it says "firmware upgrade encountered an issue. please select recovery mode in kies and try again"
I can get into Download mode
Please help suggest some remedy. I dont want to hard brick my phone. Also I dont care about knox warranty which is already gone since i installed Philz recovery
As you can get into download mode flash the official mk4 firmware (get it from samfirmware) and you should be back working on 4.3 again..
thank you for helping
I managed to flash only the latest bootloader and all is good now

I am not new to rooting and flashing rom however, I switched from my rooted GS3 running CM11 to the Note 2. I flashed the stock firmware (root66) and made the mistake of running the OTA 4.1.2 update which caused my note to be soft bricked. The phone boots to the samsung logo and freezes there. I flashed several stock firmware using odin that pass but when my phone reboots it freezes at the samsung logo. I can not access recovery mode, only downloading mode. I know its a way to fix this I'm just not sure how. Any suggestions?

Easy peasy, flash philz v5.00.5 (not the latest) through odin then u should be able to access recovery, from recovery flash a custom ROM so u can get unstuck, then when everything is fine, flash a stock rom from sammobile and hopefully it should work.
With Regards,
Overdub
Smack the thanks if I helped.

I need some help downloading the new software update.
I get an error when I try the software update.
Is there anything I can do to update to the new formware?
What program or method are you using to try and update your phone?
If you have rooted your phone you won't be able to do the over the air update. I would suggest going here http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/ and downloading the newest version for your phone. Use Odin to flash it in the phone section. That's the AP line. This will install the update for you. Then you will have to root your phone again.
Or I have mega links in general section to avoid sammobiles crappy 100kb speed
What does your device status say?

I used Samsung Kies 3 and did a "Firmware Upgrade and Initialization" under Tools and that brought me up from 4.4.2 to 4.4.4 while being rooted.
I did this same method on a 4.3 firmware non-rooted. It took it from 4.3 to 4.4.4. I hope this will help you.
Hi!
I have Galaxy Note 2 (N7100) running on stock 4.1.2 ROM and I want to update it to stock 4.4 ROM. Is it possible to update directly from 4.1 to 4.4 using Odin? Or maybe I should update it to 4.3 and then to 4.4? Which version of Odin should I use? 3.09 would be ok?
Any tips or things that I should be careful of?

Method 1st: (ideally u shud use this method)
If you are not rooted, you should use phone software update to upgrade to 4.4.2.
If you are rooted, you will have to use triangleaway to reset flash counter and use supersu to fully unroot. Then upgrade using software update in phone.
Method 2nd:
3.09 is best Odin version to use. Just download the stock rom, dump it in AP tab and flash. Done.

I'm not rooted and running stock 4.1.2 but somehow OTA update in phone does not work. I'm pressing to check for updates and nothing happens at all (tried many times, restarting phone etc). So I want to do it using Odin. OK Odin v3.09 but what about version? Do I need to flash 4.3 first and then 4.4? Or can I flash 4.4 at once?

No need to flash 4.3.
First things first. Just make EFS backup using Dr.Ketan's Multitool. Transfer it to PC or cloud for safe keeping.
To upgrade you have 2 options:
1. PC ODIN 3.09 --> Download 4.4.2 firmware for your region from sammobile or samsung-updates and flash with Odin as explained earlier.
Note that you cannot downgrade the 4.4.2 bootloader, ever.
2. Mobile ODIN PRO --> To use this you need to be rooted. Once rooted download the apk file from play store and flash your 4.4.2 firmware. This will keep the bootloader as it is but will flash everything else.
Note: You won't be able to charge the battery when the phone is off. And you may face wifi problem due to old bootloader. If you face these problems, you have no choice but to use pc odin.
