was an odd thing phone was ringing and shut off, had several calls from same number i had rejected and when i called the number from a landline said the number was not active

i do appreciate the help though was seeing if there was something i hadn't thought of trying already

Similar thing happened to the display model at a local Verizon store. They said after hooking it up it shut off and wouldn't power on, all you get is the battery charge logo and the Orange light. Went in planning to buy one...decided to wait a bit...

keep hold the power button for it to shut off in that case thats the carriers fault

Oops!

Ok, I guess i have bricked my phone beyond repair but i have got to ask. Yesterday i tried different roms and in the end i tried to go back to official Htc rom and tried to change back the Hboot to the original. Rebooted and now its dead. When i press volume up and power it vibrates a few times and then blinks orange. When i press volume up and volume down and power it vibrates a few time and then the light is green.
On both occasion my computer finds the phone but request the qualcomm driver which i cannot find. Anyone that has any idea what to do? I cannot get in to recovery.
I know its my fault but it doesnt hurt to ask.
Thanks
Björn
Try holding volume down and power to see if you can get into bootloader.

That is exactly what I have been doing the last couple of days, i have downloaded numerous of drivers without any luck. Been to forums and sites. I realize now that my device is not semi-bricked which would of course be better if it was. The only thing that i cannot understand is why my phone reacts when i press the buttons i wrote in my first post in this thread. Also why my comp finds my phone. Gives a little hope as it seems it is not completely dead.

If the phone shows up as either
Qualcomm CDMA Technologies MSM
or
QHSUSB_DLOAD
You have an unrecoverable brick.
Ok, ty all for trying to help. Bought the new Xperia Mini Pro instead.

Phone does not switch on.

Hi. I recently used the camera app to take some pictures. After that, I locked my phone. When I tried to unlock it, the screen remains black. I decided remove and put back the battery. After I did that, the phone still does not turn on. I connected the phone to the charger, the LED does not light up. Is my phone bricked? I did not flash/install anything, I was just using the camera app. I hope anyone could reply as soon as possible. Thanks.

Take out the battery and wait at least three hours until you put it in again. Now try again.
If it's still not working, try to get into FASTBOOT (start ith with pressed back and power button) or HBOOT (start with pressed volume down and power button).
Hi. Thanks for your quick reply. I tried to go both into fastboot or recovery but nothing appeared on the screen. What can I do now?

So just to clarify - you can't do anything? No LED when charging? No bootloader or fastboot....
Tell us about your phone, rom - bootloader info (what you can remember) s -on or off?

camera didn't cause this, same thing happened to me when the phone was just idling. I have also seen cases with problems exactly like this before - you're not the only one. HTC will repair this for you.

it does nothing because it died for one reason or another, like I said before it happened to me and a few others too.

who cares, what are you House? not every mystery can be solved - for one reason or another it died, and considering I've seen a few cases of this I'm guessing it's a factory problem with a small percentage of Desires... perhaps a mainboard problem

Fastboot

I am 99.99999% sure i know the answer to this question, but i figure ill ask anyways....
Is there a way to get into fastboot without the power button?
Recently my power button crapped out on me. I got a new replacement phone, but i wanted to pull files off my old phone...
any help would be appreciated, thanks!
EDIT:
Again, 99.99% sure i know this answer too... but is there a way to sent a power up signal via USB when the phone is off?
does your phone turn on?
if so and you have adb setup, you can use: adb reboot bootloader

Nope, doesnt turn on... When im plugged in via USB either to a computer or a power outlet, i get the battery charging icon, but thats it...
before it broke, the power button was working spotty... then the next morning it was not working at all

This has worked for me a few times. Once rebooted you will be able to see your device using adb and then fastboot.
i got the idea from this post but found the timing i used worked better than his random attempts while holding the x key on the nexus one.

If you're really desperate for the data, you could always open the phone up and manually trigger the button as someone above has posted. There probably is another way via hardware tools e.g. JTAG or something OMAP/flash related but I'm not aware of anything specific.

Please help, Samsung Galaxy S II T989 keeps rebooting

About a month ago my phone randomly started rebooting out of nowhere. It was in my pocket and rebooted a few times and stayed on for a while. It kept getting worse and worse to the point where it would not even boot up. I updated the phone using Kies and it worked for a few hours, but then it went back to doing the same thing. The warranty already expired and I replaced the screen on the summer, so it doesn't have the sticker behind the battery.
Today I installed the original software using Odin and it turned on and booted and seemed to work fine for around 2 minutes, but then it restarted and kept rebooting again. I have also noticed that the menu at the beggining when you press Vol + and - and the power button is not the same one as factory. Please help me out here with any possible solutions and let me know if you need more details. Thanks.
What does the recovery say when you press the volume keys and power button? Have you rooted it since you Odin'd back to stock?
Sounds similar to others who have had the power button go bad on them, search the general section and you can read up on that issue. Since you were able to replace the screen it shouldn't be a problem for you to replace the button actuator too!

Yeah I researched and tested the phone and the power button seems to be the issue. When I put the battery in the phone, it automatically turns on, so I guess it needs to be replaced. I will look into replacing it. Thanks. If you know how to do it, please help me out.
I'm having this issue too but i cleaned the power button with a straw(Capri sun)..i just made it pointy and cleaned around....been working fine for a whole day. I avoid pressing it so i use volume to wake phone up. I hope it helps, i was all crazy about my phone like 2 days ago because i didn't know what was the problem. If anything PM me.

[Q] HTC One X is completely lifeless. Kapoot Dead :( Help Please ?

Okay, so i was just using my HTC one x, (i've only had it for a few days) and the phone screen went blank and the 3 buttons stayed lighted up, i couldn't do anything to the phone, so i held the power down button and it shut down and now the phone is completely idle. it doesn't start on or anything. i tried to charge it and the red light doesn't even come on, i've also tried the volume down & power button combo to access the boot loader but that doesn't seem to work either.
