error when flashing Insane Kit Kat - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 4

I flashed stock 4.4.2 from sammobile, cf auto root, open su user, disable knox, flashify install TWRP....and then i flashed insane kitkat...i am getting a error kernel is not se android enforcing (in red), set warranty bit: kernel (in yellow) top left corner and it gets stuck on this screen..
Does anyone know how to fix this? I would like to be on a custom kit kat rom rather than the stock version. Thanks.

Try flashing another kernel through recovery. Sorry I don't have a link. but you will get the se android enforcing message along with set warranty bit. Don't worry about that. The stuck screen is the problem and I've had problems like that after installing a backup and was told to flash a new kernel and that worked.

what kernel should i flash?

Try the kernels here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=44314828&postcount=2
The Touchwiz Kit Kat 4.4 kernel should work for you.

i tried that.....didnt work

can someone please help me fix this issue?

At this point all I can think of is to Odin a stock rom back on then root and install custom recovery. put the Insane rom on the phone's sdcard. Boot into recovery, wipe then install via sd card the insane rom. This is how I've done it and it worked. Only time I was getting the boot loop was when I tried to reinstall a nandroid backup I made. Oh, don't worry about disabling knox. I wouldn't go so far as to even do anything else to the stock rom once it's rooted. I wouldn't even answer the Language question it asks when you first boot up.

that didnt work either.....guess im stuck with stock kit kat ...

Did you make sure to do a full wipe before flashing the Insane kk, like Sickness stated?
Sent from an A.I. frequency

Why not post on the insane kk thread so others can see and try to help..just me .02
Im on his rebirth rom and between him(thesickenss) and others the support is unbelievable...im sure youll get farther there

yes i did full wipe..and the reason why I have it on this thread is bc i tried posting in that tread..but other ppls questiosn got in the way..thats why i wanted to open a new thread....so does anyone have any idea how i can get insane kit kat to work.
i flashed the stock 4.4 from sam mobile, then odin cfroot, flashify- TWRP...wipe, factory reset, install insane kit kat

is there a way to ODIN TWRP?..i was using flashify and installed it like that..that way i dont have to mess with the stock at all such as the language screen. Thanks.

Try wiping /system/ before flashing the zip. I think that insane may not do a /system wipe as part of the install.

So, it just hangs on the bootloader screen whenever you flash a custom kernel, but it will boot to a custom recovery... does that sound about right?

I flashed cf auto root for t999 thru odin and installed supersu from the play store but my warranty bit in download mode now shows 1. Supersu gave permission to triangle away 3.10 to reset the flash counter. System still shows modified and warranty bit 1.

Rooting the SG3 running stock 4.3 is notoriously difficult. CF AutoRoot may not always work. The instructions below (thanks to XDA Developer upndwn4par), however, works pretty well. The usual disclaimers ... you are trying this at your own risk etc. apply here...
Before rooting your phone, however, please check to see if rooting is really necessary. You may not need root access to install a custom or stock ROM. Custom recovery (e.g. CWM or TWRP) alone may be sufficient.

[GUIDE] how to root Sph-L710/L710T S3 4.4.2 (updated as of 8/19/2015)

I'm sorry i had the wrong links and because of this i had miss information. So i formally apologize by updating with the proper links.
this first method doesn't work with the Sph-L710T or the Sph-L710 on NJ2/NJ3
First method: You can root the stock 4.4.2 ND8/NDC:laugh:
1st. Make sure your on 4.4.2 ND8 or NDC
2nd. Download Towel Root
3rd. Place Towel Root in sdcard or internal storage
4th. With any file manager find and install Towel Root
5th. Open Towel Root and well root
6th. Go to play store and download https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.chainfire.supersu&hl=en and also https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=stericson.busybox&hl=en let super user update the binary
7th. Flash any recovery you want {personally i went with PhilZ Touch (this was before PhilZ had a root Option)}
8th. Enjoy your rooted stock 4.4.2 ND8/NDC
Down below is one more way too root Stock ND8/NDC/NJ2/NJ3 or NF4/OA3 (L710T) and basically any other update
(link to the almighty ODIN)
Second Method: mostly recommended
1st. Odin flash TWRP
2nd. In Odin choose PDA, PA or AP then select the TWRP Tar you just downloaded
3rd. Make sure Auto reboot is unchecked (also at this time your s3 should be in download mode)
4th. Hit start and let Odin let it finish!!
5th. Hold power button to turn off your S3, after it turns off about 10 seconds later it will turn back on to the battery charging screen so before that quickly hold Volume+ and Home, to boot into recovery
6th. now your in TWRP
7th. so to root your stock rom with TWRP flash the following file SuperSU.zip by Chain fire (pro tip. Install any other custom recovery the same way I did for TWRP above if it is in .tar format)
and here is Philz recovery for the D2Lte 6.48.4 ( which you must flash in TWRP)
and here is TWRP that was made specifically for the D2Rephersher/triband/L710T TWRP (which you must flash in a recovery)
Third method Most recent.

This is in reference to Samsung Galaxy S3 for Boost Mobile SPH-L710.
Just want to let anyone out there that updated their Boost S3 to L710VPUC0J1 know that you can still root and/or ROM your phone.
Use the instructions to (use Odin to) update the recovery to TWRP first (in the second set of instructions). I had trouble trying to go right to PhilZ Recovery (which I believe is based off of ClockWorkMod). I Had to do the TWRP (twrp-2.8.7.0-d2spr.img.tar) first.
It was the only way to get it to actually accept the recovery, not sure why, maybe because the latest Samsung firmware fixed an exploit or two.
This is an older phone, but it is still a viable one.
I hope this helps someone out there.
It took me a while to figure this quandary out.
As always this WILL flag KNOX, but I'm sure this won't be an issue at this date and time (8/2016).

i want to say yes but towel root does come with a warning that it might brick your device.....but i want to say yes since most things that can be done to the ND8 can be done to the NDC and also in reverse order.....so try it and report back it will be good to know if it works on both bootloaders

I just used this method to root my Sprint S3 running Android 4.4.2 and ND8, since my USB port is on the fritz, and it worked successfully. Thanks, great job, and could not have been made easier to do!

Even though I found the info somewhere else, thank you so much for the quick reply. PRL update fixes the problem. You're awesome.

Straight forward, fast and easy. I did notice the following:
1) Updating binary reported it did not successfully install. I've seen this before on other devices, but everything worked well. Ext SD and Camera all OK. Everything works fine so far - Titanium, Nandroid, Root Browser, etc.
2) At one point, I was directed to install Busy Box. Having done this on other devices, I said "Yes" and installed it.
3) I see that my device now shows Device Status as Custom ( was Normal before, if I remember correctly). Is this due to Busy Box?
4) Is Device Status the only way to know the KNOX Status? I see no yellow triangle as I did on my Galaxy Reverb.
5) I got a Google warning to uninstall Towelroot since it is usafe and a security exploit. I understand that.
I would like to verify the KNOX status and if tripped in the Towelroot process, to let potential users know of that possibility.
Thank You! And thanks to everyone who has continued to work on keeping root free!

Knox only notifies Samsung that your device isn't stock anymore not necessarily rooted like with a custom recovery and then flashed mods and what not but if you Odin the stock rom it resets the counters so Samsung will never know....and that i have noticed TowelRoot doesn't trip that counter.....only the recoveries and when you update the binary (<---completely forgot to fix that) you must hit the option normal not TWRP/CWM

That's great news because same boat here. It worked on 4.3 as well.

Thanks for your response. I may be over thinking these indicators. All I did was Towelroot, successfully. On the phone, the "About Device, Status" now says CUSTOM (was "Official"). The Knox counter according to app "Phone Info" shows Knox Counter at 0x0. As you said, since the counter is not tripped, should be no problem on warranty. So then Device Status CUSTOM is not a problem? I'm not really worried about warranty at this point, but I think I'll hold off further mods for another 6 moths.
Thanks again for your help!

Thanks. I tried the md8 and mk3 "mk3 is what it's on". Both just restart and get stuck on splash screen :/.
I have to go to download mode and and restart it that way to boot system back up.
Do you have any other suggestion. I'm not sure what part of the system is altered. It seems like a stock recovery and it's stock firmware "now rooted". Maybe the kernel.
I can't use USB at all.
I'm guessing maybe I should install twrp. Then install a stock zip or try out a 4.3 rom that way. I would like to get to md8 one way or another. Most md8 Roms want you to odin or flash an md8 base.

I have flashed twrp recovery over odin. I can only get into stock recovery though. Usual fix would be to remove battery b4 rebooting, but I can not make out the battery on this device - seems integrated / hidden.
I am running 4.4.2 KitKat. Trying to root it to debloat.
Any ideas? Maybe remove some startup scripts or Idk...
EDIT: I got word that it seems to be either some hash verification in the new android 4.4.x kernel or even a locked bootloader on top. Is that correct? And, if so, what would be a good course of action now?
More info can be found imo when googling for

I don't know of any tablet that has user removable battery. I'm sure you have to be rooted before you can install a custom recovery. Are you using the rooting method in the development topic?
The question would be why you didn't use the recommended way of using Flashify to flash twrp?

Yes. Would have posted there too had it been allowed. It is the method described in the t800 thread, where it says you should flash twrp via odin and then install SuperUser zip in TWRP.

I thought that this was the way to do it. I have not read anything in that thread about flashify.
If flashify works with Android 4.4.2 I will dig into that. Does it?

You did not follow the instructions in the first post, but the latter ones posted by bodivas? Then you should consider trying those in the first post - they work for T805 as well.
The ones in the first post work. Flashify I found it in the CF-Root for T700 thread, it works fine on T805 as well, as long as you get the correct img file from the TWRP site.

yes bodivas is his name. it seemed to be the better method. but since it did not "accept" the image, although odin said success, I dug deeper and found out that there is supposed to be a hash check in 4.4.2 which keeps me from keeping the flashed image
Will flashify solve that problem and make TWRP "resident"? I would rather not flash the CF Auto since it is for a t800 not t805, but maybe i am overcautious:angel:

You don't get by in XDA by being cautious in everything. There's enough reports to tell otherwise.
Yes, using Flashify to flash TWRP replaces stock recovery. TOTALLY.
Requires root though right? So is not possible for me I fear Only way would then be CF Auto for t800...as we found out. TU anyhow.

Of course it requires root. Not possible because you don't dare to flash the T800 files? Hehe.....you're gonna have a hard time here.

I just need to get the hang of these appy lil spy thingy thing things...god knows what g**gle has in store for you. out of curiosity, so you are saying there is no hash check in the bootloader keeping me/us from doing our evil deeds? how about the article up there I quoted, and what the heck happened when i odined TWRP?
just asking...will flash the CF. so lets cross thumbs and make tha knox trip count
Hi Guys. As following the instructions to flash openrecovery-twrp-2.8.0.1-chagallwifi.tar using Odin3 v3.09, my T805 reboots into recovery, the TWRP boot screen is blurred, and after the Menu appears, my device locks up and there is no way to reboot it. Force reboot by holding down the Power button doesn't work. I've been trying for nearly an hour and nothing works. The Task Menu and Return buttons are lit, but the screen is blank. Any suggestions on how to get my T805 to reboot normally?
Thanks.
UPDATE:
I found that 2.8.0.1 appears out of alignment on the screen, and I had to poke around until I found where the Reboot button was located. By chance I got it to go into Bootloader and the system rebooted. Once online I installed Flashify and installed TWRP 2.7.1.1 and SUCCESS!! Now my T805 is working normally. WHEW!!

Root Marshmallow 6.0 Update

Hello I was able to easily root the newly released 6.0 update for the sprint galaxy s6.
First download
Cfroot for the G920F model
Download
Flash with Odin 3.10.6 or higher..
Wait for the script to finish etc and once the phone reboots, force the phone into download mode and flash the stock 6.0 recovery
Download
Then force the phone back into recovery mode and wipe cache then reboot phone back to system
Enjoy rooted 6.0 MM !
Props to the mighty Chainfire and his wizard skills

after flashing cfroot you must wait until it finished the process..it will take a min...then after cfroot tells you it's done rooting the phone...you flash the stock recovery

i must be doing it wrong then? it attempts to boot a recovery that is not seandroid enforcing last time i tried to install the custom recovery that was for the older firmware it stuck on that screen for ever and i needed to reflash my phone. just a little worried that its gonna get stuck there.
thank you for finding this root method

we got a dump of the stock recovery (im assuming thats what the other file is to flash) so im sure it wont be long till we get a custom recovery:good:
Confirmed, works for boost mobile 6.0.1 marshmallow.
Would TWRP 3.0.0 work with this or are we gonna have to wait for that update? Need my xposed modules for sure
We dont need a MM twrp....the current twrp will work just fine to flash a MM custom rom, someone just needs to make a rom.zip we flash it on top of LP and profit.

I also just realized that xposed won't work without a deodexed rom

Can't we use flashify to install zip files? I've used xposed on stock ROMs before I thought.
will this work for 925p?
Awesome now i can mess with titanium backup. . Thanks Guess supersu is not working it says no su in the binary. Redid the steps i used odin 3.10.7 it didnt boot after the cfauto was flashed it actually booted into recovery is not seandroid enforcing. forced into download mode pushed down restarted again it went to the recovery is not seandroid enforcing screen. So i flashed the recovery cleared cache phone booted thought i was good to go nope lol. Also the same happened when i tried the twrp with odin but i had to flash the rom to get back up and running so heads up.
Guys I would definitely wait for a custom recovery. What if something happens and you have no backup?! Also, you need a deodexed ROM for Xposed to work anyway! This method would be good if all you care about is little stuff like AdBlocking.
you don't need deodexed rom anymore there is an exposed that work on 5.1.1 adn 6.0 but we just need a recovery to flash it.
but i agree i would wait to have a confirmed recovery for marshmallow

Prettttyy sure you need a deodexed ROM.
link below is the exposed i have been using on "stock" rom 5.1.1 and there is a 6.0 version i was on 5.1.1 no changes other than root

"Samsung made a lot of changes to ART without providing the sources, that's why it took a while to workaround some of their changes, more information here.
It supports Stock and close to stock Roms."

I'm totally down to be a test dummy lol. Can anyone explain if flashify would be a replacement for recovery? I know the international folks used it to prevent certain things from tripping Knox, but at this point I'm pretty sure we all have tripped it by now
