Hello Community,
I have recently updated my Note 2 from Macksrom to Carbon Rom 4.4. The upgrade is awesome, very fast, looks pretty. Just all good, till i plugged in my headphones.
Now, I am quite adept at changing the rom on my phone, done this many times, and never had this issue before. So my question to you is, is anyone else having issues with their headphones on kit kat?
Tech stuff:
When rom was installed, data, cache, and dalvik were wiped. The proper gapps was installed. I use CWM.
When playing music on my speaker, it works just fine. When i plug the headphones in it does not work unless i'm at the home screen. When I try to open an app the sound is gone, when i check notifications sound is gone, and when i lock the device, guess what sound is gone. I can do all the aforementioned tasks with out a problem when playing music through the speaker. Just can't with the headphones.
Now i have tried a few things to resolve the issue, i have uninstalled the music application, I have removed the dsps i have in place, i have rebooted the phone numerous times with headphones plugged in and out. Tried different pair of headphones, and yield same result.
So for now i've run dry, I would not want to downgrade to macks rom again. But if my headphones won't work on my device i will do so.
Any input would be helpful.
****** EDIT ****** Forgot to do this earlier, but there is a workaround for this issue. I have posted another blog on what needs to be done to get your headphones to work. Follow link below.

I was trying to pair my s3 to my stock car radio so I could stream music through the phone but for some reason it doesnt work anymore after I flashed a rom. Is there something in stock that I'm missing?
I'm currently on Wicked 2.0 and tried pairing but everything works except the music. I remember when it worked fine on stock but during pairing it gave me a 2nd option during connection called gconnect, gmusic or g something lol. My car is a 2012 that has a2dp capability and it did work the other day prior to flashing so before I go back stock any other ideas?
Well as always try restarting your phone, and maybe delete pairings that you have seen. Sometimes when I've paired, I believe it saves so you can do it easier. Just try deleting that and then retry. I may have it confused with something else though

Be sure to check the changelogs of the Roms you are using to see if that is a known issue, as well as, search the specific thread for the Rom for any issues related to bluetooth streaming issues. Though I'm not familiar with Wicked 2.0, if it's an AOSP rom, they have had a2dp issues from time to time. If it's touchwhiz, you'll want to see if it could be a kernel related issue.
Having the same problem

I went to CyanogenMod 10.1-201330121-EXPERIMETNAL-d2spr-M1 and I have the same issue. I can no longer get Bluetooth audio to stream music properly. It starts fine, but then after a few seconds I get this weird slowing-down and skipping distortion.
I've unpaired, repaired, turned off everything, turned it all back on, taken out the battery, etc. The whole 9 yards, and I'm still getting the same thing every time I try and stream music.

With AOSP roms, such as CyanogenMod, a2dp has been a consistent issue. However, the recent beta of LiquidSmooth, 3.2.1, is what I currently have running on my GS3 and it had some sort of a2dp fix in it that restored streaming quality to bluetooth. Give it a shot. It'll operate similarly to CM10.1.
Flash the latest nightly of CyanogenMod for working a2dp. It wasn't working on the M1.

Could see anything noted beside me. i think it is an asop rom but can get it to stream music. I might go to cm10.1 or back to stock. I love this rom but I need my streaming audio lol
Works great for me on jelly bomb v13. I stream music to my headset and a portable speaker daily over Bluetooth.

CM 10.1 is AOSP. Any ROM under the "original development" thread is usually AOSP based. AOSP is what has had the A2DP issues, but recent versions of CM 10.1 & my ROM of choice, LiquidSmooth 3.2.1, have seemingly got the bluetooth issues fixed.
finally figured out just encase anybody ever needs to know but it was called GmusicConnect. It popped up but had to be done under aux out and config >bluetooth music pairing. totally separate menus then the actual phone call pairing
I have installed the latest build of PAC rom, and even before this I installed the new Liquid Smooth rom, all this on the same day. I wiped factory data, dalvik cache and everything else. When I listen to music while the headphones are in, and click into the app drawer / any other app, the song I'm listening too gets cut off, and it comes back on where it left off. It is extremely annoying, when the phone itself is in sleep and I'm listening to music it works fine, when I try to open up another app while my headphones are in, I consistently hear the crackling noise. I can't even listen to music properly, how can I fix this? I've installed other music players and its the same result, crackling while using the phone, no music crackling when phone is sleeping, could it be a hardware issue? I'm thinking it isn't because I updated to the official release of the Liquid Smooth rom today, which was EXTREMELY buddy, like legit couldn't handle the number of reboots that happened in 1 hour and the horrid battery, and it only started happening today, I am now on PAC rom and it is still happening, I tried rewiping and reflashing but it doesn't work. Any help?
This seems to be an issue for some on the latest build. If you've installed correctly and still face the same issue you can try reverting back to this RC2 build with the new headphone fix. It seems to be the most stable even with the music issue.

believe it or not, downloading power amp music player just fixed my issue, so if anyone is having this problem, just download poweramp, even though the UI kinda sucks, it gets rid of the crackling noise
:good:
Recently, I flashed up to the 4.2.2 ROM for Galaxy S3 (CYANOGENMOD 10.1, I think?)
Anyway, now only one of my ear buds works. I know they work, I've tried them on other devices. Plus, I can hear notification sounds on both buds as well. But not music. At least, not all the time. So, is this a coincidental hardware issue, or the software?
EDIT: After some tinkering, I'm beginning to believe that the DSP Manager may be the culprit, seeing as all my music apps are awful, but Youtube is just dandy. But I dunno.
I do know it is software though, I'm 100% sure of that now.
What music app are you using? Try a different one or maybe like pandora or something. I really have no solid ideas. Maybe are you undervolting? I know that causes some problems, probably not this, but you never know.
Huh, it is the app. Works fine on Pandora. Im using the default Apollo app. Any idea as to what I need to fix?

Google Play also works just fine. I don't believe it is the DSP Manager that also comes packaged, I checked that. But I could be wrong.
So I assume Apollo is the issue. But i don't know how I would fix it. The settings option leaves a lot be desired.
EDIT: Apparently now all my music apps only work on one earbud. Youtube's fine though. DSP may be the issue.

This happened with my phone. Headphones were brand new, but sound wouldn't work in the left earbud. After unrooting I had the same issue. It was the internal hardware that was the problem, something broke idk.
Try unrooting your phone or flashing a stock rom (idk if that will work didn't try it) and see if that fixes it. If not you may need to get a new phone.
So I use Bluetooth to connect my phone to my car stereo and when I turn off my screen my music like skips like if it were a scratched CD. It's really annoying. I use power amp but what ever app I use it skips for some reason. I heard that Jelly bean has that issue. I am running illusion ROM right now. I've tried almost every ROM to see it would stop that from happening but no luck. I'll probably flash Jedi X16 soon meanwhile there is a fix. Sometimes when I use my headphone it skips also. If anyone has any fix to this please let me know. I love AOSP I don't want to go to Touchwiz again

If a clean flash dont help. Than try a TW rom such as JediX to see if problem persist. If all your music apps are doing the same thing. Then it might be the Rom or Kernel.
I'm experiencing an ongoing problem with headphones on my m8. Trying to listen to music is either one sided (left bud) or none at all. If I plug into my stereo, the Jack works and music is played normal.
I've changed ROMs with full wipe & clean install, the problem still occurs. Various headphones all do the same. I'm almost positive it's a software glitch somewhere but can't find a setting for it. I've tried freezing music apps with TB, I've also installed HK to see if that would tweak something. No clue what else to do.

Have you tried returning to complete stock? Stock Firmware/Software? If it's still ongoing after that, I would say you should contact HTC for a replacement or there's a user error occurring.
Haven't gone back.. Will try tonight. Do I use Odin?
