After I rooted my kindle and installed adw.launcher everything was going fine. I rebooted my kindle and out of nowhere it refuses to start. Absolutely nothing shows up at all. The screen doesn't come on, the logo, nothing. The battery was at 75% when it was working. Even when I plug it in the orange charge light doesn't even come on. I need help badly and I would prefer not to have to send it in to get a replacement. The entire reason I created this xda account was to fix this. Please I need help.
That doesn't sound good. Press and hold the on button for like 20 seconds and see if anything happens.

Try the Hard reset option as explained by GBH2 and if it doesn't help, then please list down what exactly did you do to root your device, stock FW version etc.

I have already tried the hard reset but to no avail. I have no idea what happened to it. I think I will just have to get a replacement. I followed instructions off of mobilemag and of course I can't place the link in this post.
I literally just had same issue... holing power button for 20+ seconds did the trick here.
Running CM7 w/ MAC address fix.
mine's bricked too
I also have a bricked Kindle and not sure what to do about it.
I had my KF rooted and working. Then, I followed these instructions to get a better keyboard. In short, I edited one row of the secure table in settings.db, trying to enable Hackers Keyboard. I followed the instructions very carefully, including changing permissions. When I rebooted, it stuck at the kindle fire logo, and it is still stuck there.
I can connect via adb, but can no longer burrito root. Can't run 'su'. I'm searching these forums trying to figure what to do next.
do you have twrp available ?
if not you could follow this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1414832
fixed
Thanks. I found that thread via http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1356257&page=61 and it saved the day.
I was able to fastboot, twrp, and eventually solve my problem.
I had updated settings.db, then used `adb push` to put it in the right place. Then, I chmod-ed it as the instructions warned. However, it was owned by root not system! With twrd, I was able to get back into adb. Chown-ing and chgrp-ing that file to system solved my problem.
(Unfortunately some of the other stuff I did along the way broke a few apps... anyway I'm happy to have a working KF again.)
good to hear !!!
Did you ever get your KF to work? I can not get mine to turn on after KFU 0.9.5 used to do perm root. Now nothing works at all
Kindle fire wont power on /boot
I'm facing the same issue here, i have FFF 1.4a and TWRP 2.2.2.1 installed and JB 4.2.1 from twv. However i noticed whenever i pressed reboot from menu or power it off, i cannot turn it on again.
Luckily i have an OTG cable which help me force boot it, but i want to solve the issue coz i dont want to use the OTG cable always to turn it on.
Note: Holding power button for 20secs did not solve the issue

Hello, i have a Factory Cable (USB cable) with a different pin configuration. Basically if you have a working bootloader, you just plug it in (with a PC) and it will go to the FFF screen.
I think my issue is a busted USB port already.
ok thanks tried that, but it is deader than that.

Dead is right on the mark for mine also. With pc never detecting my CM9 , I updated my TWRP to v2.2.2.1, in hopes to go to CM10
And for first time saw *bootloader* as an option in TWRP . Screeching halt!!! Beware.
Seriously people...

Normally I would assume you had a 2nd generation device and tried to modify it, but I see your first post was made back in April and then edited two days ago?!? Is this a new problem or the same problem you had eight months ago?
I'm pretty sure your USB port isn't bad and you just have a broken bootloader. If you have a 1st generation device, the Firekit w/shorting trick to put the device in USBboot will do the trick.

This has been the problem since 5 months...
I am using a kindle fire 5th generation and don't have a factory cable.

If so, can someone post a link for a cheap factory cable however I really don't want to use/buy one.

Hey guys, I'm not sure how I got my Kindle stuck in a boot loop, but I need some help getting it out. I have this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1399889 for unbricking. The problem I run into is that for some reason the utility wont show my device at all. In my device manager on my computer it shows the kindle as Amazon with the yellow triangle. I have tried everything I could find to get my computer and thus the utility used in the above thread to pick it up and get it out of the boot loop. In case you need to know the ROM I tried to flash before I had this issue can be found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1614004 .

If you are getting stuck at the ROM's bootanimation and it won't go any further, your system software is broken. You'll have to get to recovery or at least into fastboot mode to fix it. If you have the stock bootloader, you have no easy way to get into recovery, so you'll probably need a factory cable. Read this...

Download in use Kindle Fire Utility from the development section. Use it install window driver for KF, install TWRP, and reset boot mode. It is the tool for you. You just need to study how to use it.
Hope it helps.
This is for my 9 year old daughter.
I bought her a kindle fire for christmas but she didnt like the user interface but loved the way my samsung note 2 ran. So to stop her using my note 2 all the time i decided to go ahead and root her kindle fire. Which i did fine. i struggled with installing cutom recover but found TWEEZERMOD worked briiliant along with the cordless APK.
i tried to install cm-10.1-20130218-UNOFFICIAL-otter2.zip and it worked like a charm. In cuoidstom recovery i did all the nessasary wipes beofre installing the rom to avoid being stuck at boot lolgo and it loaded up perfect!
i then downlaoded another om to test that (i shouldnt have pushed my luck) jb-4.2-kfire-hashcode-12-11 and it installed but never booted.
I am now stuck on the white and orrange kindle fire logo. my computer wont recognise or ackowladge that the kindle fire is plugged into it so i cannot use unbrick utility or anything.
I have been upp all night desperatly trying to solve this problem and im stuck.
please please help me i have do get this done before my daughter wakes otherwise i lose all hero status.

Ive tried holding the power button for 20 seconds to reboot into recovery but no joy
Nothing happens
When i switch it on it just stays on the "kindle fire" white and orange logo. When i hold the power button down, it switches off. So if i hold it for 20 seconds it powers on for about 15 seconds (still holding power) then it goes of. I have plugged it into my laptop when its off then it comes on (back to the kindle fire logo) but the laptop wont detect it.
im in dyer need of help here
No option for boot into recovery. Piror to me installing the second rom a blue "kindle fire" Logo would show and say " press power button to boot into recovery" id press it and that took me into twrp. And as you know from there i can do wipes and reinstall a rom.
But it doesnt get past "kindle fire" white and orange logo.
this is where im stuck.
there is nothing on this site that i have found to help me out it looks like a new problem. which is just my luck.

You don't have FireFireFire installed so you need to get a factory cable.
Factory cable? hhmmmmmmmmm now im in trouble. What would this do?
when you say factory cable do you mean the cable that came with the kindle?
Factory cable
PLEASE NOTE: THIS CABLE IS NOT A STANDARD USB DATA AND CHARGING CABLE IT LOOKS THE SAME AS A STD CABLE BUT IS WIRED TOTALLY DIFFERENT TO A STD USB CABLE. It is a factory cable that is specifically designed to access functions on devices that cannot be accessed with a standard USB Data Cable.
What is a Factory Cable?
Unlike a normal USB cable these cables are wired in a way that allow compatible Motorola phones or devices, including the Kindle Fire to recognize a "factory" setting when plugged in. This allows the phone or device to power up and be flashed without having a battery in the phone, (no battery removal is required with Kindle Fire). Depending upon the model of the phone or device, it may also boot up differently than it does with a normal USB cable.
A Factory Cable is used when your device is being made in the ‘factory’, the manufacturer plugs in a cable and loads the Operating System for the first time. They use the special cable as shown in the Ebay listing above which makes the device download a boot-loader easily. A Factory Cable allows you to do the exact same thing – it enables someone to load a new boot-loader easily. This can, in turn, be used to load new ROMS (Operating systems) and access a device such as the Kindle Fire in a boot mode when it has been impossible to access the Device.
If you want to buy one, go with SkorPn's factory cable. Unless you are cheap and you want to buy it from China...
Here's the link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=20380015
It is different from a regular USB cable or a power cable like the one that came with the kindle in the sense that it shorts the kindle, which causes the device to be put into fastboot.

Is youre kindle a KF2? before you rooted/rom'ed it, what was the system version? I think you flashed your Kindle Fire 2 with a KF1 rom. Was your 1st rom from here: http://get.cm/?device=otter or Here: http://get.cm/?device=otter2. If your rom was the 2nd one, you have a KF2 and you flashed the rom for the KF1 on the 2nd one. You will have to get a factory cable (The one jma9454 shows)
Ichigo said:
Ah, yes. I took a look, and the first ROM you flashed was powerpoint45's build fore the kindle fire 2. You said it worked like a charm, so I assume you have a kf2. You should not flash any ROMS you find over here, for they are kf1 only

I rooted my Kindle Fire 2 about a week ago and I was really enjoying it. Today I decided that I wanted to get cyanogen mod on my kindle. I went to a a forum page here on XDA which had a one click thing for TWRP. I downloaded it onto my kindle and started to install it. Ok, so if I purchase the cable, will that allow me to enter fastboot and fix the problem? Is fastboot somthing that is already on the device.. or is it something that I should of installed on it beforehand? Someone told me that all I need is the Factory Cable and I can work from there. Is that true?

It helps but you can use Kindle Fire FirstAid and a factory fastboot cord and restore to factory. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2096888 You can make a fastboot cord or buy one for 10 bucks, up to you.
He did a good job describing everything.
If you want to try getting custom recovery again, root your Kindle Fire using Bin4ry's method. Use the new method (No Xperia stuff - You'll know when u use it). And use Kindle Fire First Aid and disable OTA updates. Download TweezerMod Installer (Google it) and follow instructions. You will be as amazed, excited, and happy as at first when you recovered your kindle.

Turns out thing work better when you actually know what you are doing. But at leas I gained some knowledge. probably had the right drivers for a day and a half. Smh
Help!
I have recently bought this orginal kindle fire second hand. It came with the box and a white mciro-usb wire cable. The problem is it is stuck on the boot logo. It flickers ever so often and then turns black and re-appers again, still stuck on the boot logo. I tried connecting it to my computer (windows 7) and was not recognised. I looked on the computer tab in windows and nothing showed up. I was a bit confused. I belive i have installed the kindle fire drivers and i have downloaded something called "Kindle Unbrick Ultitly" which has a button called 'stuck on boot' so tried this but found out the KF needed to be reconised so i cannot do that. What can i do to make it go passed the boot screen and connect to computer?
Thanks, hope to hear back from someone.
Edit: p.s i have tried a htc wire cable and still doesn't get reconised. Hope this helps.
Soupkit is the answer. Follow the instructions and it's super simple.
