The native app is not notifying me of a message. The dumb verizon messages app is. If I turn off the notification in the VZW app, it stops the native from notifying. Anyone?
Anyone?
maybe the verizon one is set as the default messaging app

Settings - apps - select the Verizon messages app and then click clear defaults, now select the original one as your main one
Lol I just disabled the dumb Verizon one all together under app settings among with most of there bloat crap for now at least. It's been a day and I'm already considering rooting and beating this thing up a bit. ?

Me to bro. I seem to get it after rebooting from CWM or maybe but rebooting
You're running Go SMS, you need to Disable other message notification. Go to Settings in Go SMS, Advanced tab, Receive Settings, and uncheck "Disable other message notification"
Drakhar, I haven't disabled that and I no longer get these text messages. I had them when I first got my phone.
Its most likely a problem with your tower. Put a ticket in for them to check it out.

Same thing was happening to me, soon as I disabled that they quit... Had read somewhere else that was what was causing it.
He could at least give it a shot and see if it works for him...
funny, I just saw this thread a little while ago and I just got one of these texts. I dont use Go sms though. I use handcent. the text body starts with //LL:1563: odd. I never had one until today and I've been running handcent for a couple of weeks now
it's visual voicemail & your sms app
i had the same issue, i talked about and found a fix at these two posts:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1299804
and
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1306721
Thanx! I disabled it and will report back with my results

Menu / settings / wireless and network, then turn off NFC.
I always freeze tags titanium with backup pro.

PS that would be the first app on the left not the right

Yeah that is the NFC tag app, seems your phone got close to a NFC tag and you missed the notification so it is still just sitting there ....

I was having this problem for the first day or two. I simply turned off mobile data for awhile and then turned it back on a few hours later and it only pops up now when receiving or sending an MMS (or when I leave the wifi signal, of course). Not sure if that's the fix or just a fluke.

This is across all phones I've used from time to time nothing to be concerned about it'll go away with time with no action on your behalf.

I figured out that its verizon's stupid CallerID app. It needs mobile data on to analyze incoming calls. It's not used, but its on. I disabled callerID and its not there anymore
I also thought it was the CallerID app and disabled it. However the issue re-occurs whenever I open the My Verizon Mobile app to work with my account. I tested it though by streaming some music for a while then checking my phones data usage in settings and it's not actually using mobile data.
My uncle's did the same thing when using Facebook app and then turning on wifi. Haven't had a chance to test his yet, but I'm pretty sure it's the same issue. Still, it's an annoying problem, especially when you get phone calls from the fam wondering why their phone's using 4g when on wifi
When my 4G won't turn off I just restart the phone and it does the trick. Doesn't happen very often for me though.

I have an AT&T Samsung s3. All of a sudden, I stopped getting notifications for my text messages. I actually get them, but I don't get notified and the counter on the icon does not show anything. Not one two or three no numbers at all. The guy at the AT&T store could not help. Anybody have any suggestions or recommendations please? Thank you.

I as well have ATT, I get notifications but what bugs the hell out of me is that I'll get text all at once at least once a day
Ex:
Wife text me at 5:00 "Hi babe"
5:15 - Babe?
5:30 - Hellooo??
6:00- OK text me when you have time.
At 6:20 (just an example not the exact time) I'll get everything at once.
Here is a pic

Notice how they arrived all at the same time. This convo was at 10pm
They all came at once at 12:10 wtf?? Lol

I guess an option is to do a factory reset.
I ended up installing Go SMS. Everything works like it should now and she's happy as can be. I don't know what the problem was but she's happy and I'm good with that.

On my nexus 6 when I dragged an app icon up from the app drawer, I would get choices like cancel, app info, and uninstall... All I get on my pixel xl is cancel and uninstall. How do I get it to say app info?
Thanks
The "App Info" option appears for apps that can be frozen, but not uninstalled. All apps can be uninstalled on the Pixel, so you'll never see that option.
App info still shows for every app for me..

Figured it out. You have to turn on developer options, reboot, and then it is there
Or that
