Just went through the directions and successfully updated CWM and installed the boot menu. Took a few tries to get CyanogenMod to boot up but once I wiped the user data and reinstall it booted up fine.
Question, is the OUYA controller useless once in CyanogenMod? Do I need a keyboard/mouse to use it properly? What is the fan favorite for devices to replace the awkward controller?
Thanks.

This. I can't type from my OUYA remote to the onscreen keyboard. I've searched to find a way to enable this feature and couldn't find anything that would. I would think adding OUYA Remote as an input device might do it (Keyboard & Input in CM Settings) But, there is no option to access it.
I tried dl'ing Six Axis and it got late so I wasn't able to mess with it too much, but, it didn't seem like it was going to work. Essentially, I just want to be able to select the letters of the onscreen keyboard with the Ouya controller. Has anyone had better luck?
I have really retired my OUYA controller. Multi port USB hub with a USB keyboard, for recovery work, wireless mouse and a Bluetooth keyboard are my choices. I don't much care for games so this is just an HTPC for me. XBMC, Pandora, some weather apps, Facebook and tumblr. I haven't even tried the controller with any android games. Does it work in that respect?

Ive not actually tried it. It Navigates ok with wireless xbox 360 controller, so I`d guess its ok. Seriously, get a cheap wireless keyboard and mouse, for pref, not a bluetooth one but one with a dongle. Bought mine for £15 and its a joy to use. Browsing on a nice big TV is awesome.
You need to manually link the ouya controller in the blue tooth setting menu. Put the controller into discovery more than select find BT devices. You only need to do this once

Today I scored two PS3 controllers at a pawn shop for $25. I just tried hooking them up to my XOOM with a USB hub, and the system recognizes both of them. Cool. So, I pop open Mario Kart and test out two player mode.
In the SNESoid settings, there is an option for a second gamepad. I mapped the buttons to one PS3 controller to the first pad, and the other to the second, however, they both seem to want to control player one and two at the same time.
So, has anyone been able to set this up correctly?
No one's tried to play multiplayer with a hub?

sorry I can't help with your question, but I was wondering what cable you use to connect a single ps3 controller and what software you need (drivers, etc.) Thanks.
I haven't tried to use a hub and a multiplayer game but i will try tomorrow and get back to you. But my otg host cable of choice is this one. I didn't need any special software, just an emulator and some roms to play. Just make sure you map all the buttons on the emulator.
Yeah, it doesn't work: the USB drivers map controller presses to keyboard input (including the analog stick). Therefore though honeycomb recognizes both devices, the output from them looks exactly the same from an app perspective: just keyboard presses. Same thing goes for using a PS3 controller with an Xbox controller. Best thing to do is wait for wiimotecontroller to support PS3 controllers via Bluetooth or mix in wiimotecontrollers.
That's what I thought.
I even looked online to see if there was a way to hack a PS3 controller to make it output different keys. For example, instead of making the directional pad use the up, down, left and right keys, totally remap it to use something like H, J, K and L etc. Unfortunately, this is impossible.
We need a Playstation 3 bluetooth app like what Wii controllers have.
I am hoping someone can answer this for me. Will the recently released root capabilities allow me to connect a Bluetooth keyboards that requires a password? This is something that the Fire TV couldn't do previously.

Bluetooth Keyboard with built in touchpad
I am also very interested in this....
Is it possible to get the bluetooth settings to work with my motorolla keyboard and touchpad combo (Motorolla KZ500)? I get it to pull up the settings to see the keyboard and prompt to type in numbers but it doesnt receive anything I input at this step.
I will keep trying and let OP know if I find anything, but I am not a real android dev by any stretch.
I got my Logitech PlayStation 3 Cordless MediaBoard Pro to link with a generic usb dongle. It is great because it has a mouse pad built in
Got it to Connect - But not functional
I succeeded at getting the Motorolla KZ500 keyboard & touchpad combo to connect to the Fire TV through the use of the android settings.apk and typing in the numerical prompt. - I am on the latest firmware and am rooted now, if that matters.
However, despite showing up as an input device, no keypresses or mousepad movements are registering with the device. Does anyone know what could be wrong?
When I use a USB keyboard and mouse, it has no problem registering all of that.
I apologize up front because I can see that this has been discussed but I can't find a definitive answer after reading through all the different threads.
Is there a way to pair a bluetooth keyboard + mouse/trackpad to the Fire TV with a device that can't be rooted?
I ask because like a lot of others, I just pre-ordered the Fire TV Stick. Now I know it's not out so we don't know what it can/can't do but assuming the code is the same, I'm trying to do some homework before it arrives. And since the Stick doesn't have the USB inputs, I have to rely on Bluetooth or maybe an app for a virtual keyboard/mouse if anyone knows of one.
Thanks in advanced!
I didn't even think of that. I ordered two. I use my K400 occassionally for different apps. I was using the limitless remote app too. The new Fire Tv Remote app might work but I will miss the K400.

Yeah. I'm looking for it to use with HBOgo mostly. I'm guessing that the mouse is the important input to get that working.
It will be great if I can pair my Bluetooth mouse with Fire TV Stick.
This works well with the FireTV: http://eud.dx.com/product/ipazzport...google-tv-player-black-844230388#.VHTNJTSsVx0

Is that a bluetooth device? Or does it have a USB dongle? The Fire Stick doesn't have a free USB port.

USB dongle. I don't use the port for anything else so its fine for me.
Has anyone tried a USB hub on the Fire?

This is exactly what I am trying to figure out also, a Bluetooth keyboard/trackpad that will work with sideloaded apps like HBO GO or NFL Game Pass that are not compatible with the remote.
usb dongles work on firetv, not on firetv stick.... for now.
Would also like to know, sideloaded Settings.apk on mine to get to the stock android settings. Can detect Microsoft bluetooth mouse, Monoprice bluetooth headset and sound brick but none of them pair right. The two audio devices make a pairing sound. But don't play audio.
I sideloaded the settings.apk, and using it I'm able to successfully pair Apple Wireless Keyboard and Apple Magic Mouse. Both keyboard and mouse functionalities work just as if it was USB keyboard/mouse.

Yes, keyboard pairing works with both Fire TV and Fire TV Stick. I've sideloaded the settings apk and have successfully paired the AERB IBK-02 keyboard with trackpad/mouse to both devices. This keyboard has a trackpad, but it has limited functionality. Although scrolling is possible with two finger touch, you cannot click and drag. For this you'll need to pair up a Bluetooth mouse.
vg-kbd2000
I picked this up for my Samsung TV ( doesn't work with mine - no Bluetooth )
But, it works with my Sony GoogleTv and my FTV stick with settings apk side-loaded
the nice thing with this keyboard is that you can pair it with 3 different devices.
It has a selector button on the top to choose which one.
I haven't played with it very long and am trying to figure out what works and what doesn't
To use the touch-pad a switch on the bottom needs to be slid to "mouse mode"
I can't use the TV specific buttons on the right side of the keyboard. Wish i knew how to get them to work with the GoogleTv - it has an Ir blaster built in and will control volume, channel, etc
It will power my TV on and off - it has an Ir transmitter. But, that is all that does - strange
They are marked down to $39 at Best Buy and there are usually many open boxed ones to be had for less. Original price was about $100
But, they are mostly useless for the Samsung Tvs that they do work on - Most of apps do not support the keyboard or so I have read.
Wish the was some sort of unifying remote that I could connect to it and then plug into my TV though.
If you get one, the touchpad goes into a sleep mode after 30 seconds or so. I've read that hitting any button will wake it up. I didn't know that at first and was pairing it , unpairing it and powering it off.
If anyone else picks one of these up, Please post your findings

Hello
i tried to connect an Apple Magic Trackpad - i can find it and i can write the pin then im am stuck - it wont connect - how did you do it ?
Is it possible to run a program like droidmote without root, to control the sideloaded apps with touch features?
Also trying to get a bluetooth Microsoft Wireless Notebook Presenter Mouse 8000 to connect. Installed Settings.apk. Can detect it, but can't pair it.
Not without root.
I bought one of those Nyko tablet game pads for mine, the Stick natively supports the Nyko game pad, and it has a mouse mode.

Picked two is them up in store for 12.97 each. They don't have them up front, they keep them in the back so you have to ask for them.
yes

I use Yatse to control XBMC with no issues on my s3 Samsung, Remote IME seems to work for everything else.
I am unsure of the mouse, I can use my Logitech keyboard for full control and browser work though. hope this helps

Not true anymore. Try this app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wukongtv.wkremote.client.en
Has some translation issues (seems to be a Chinese app). Install on your phone and when you open it and connect it will automatically install the client on your ftv (or at least it did on my rooted box with play store access). Seems to have both navigation controls and mouse mode. Worked well for me in my ftv (have not tried on ftv sticks yet, mine won't be here until Tuesday).

I'm pretty weary of Chinese apps.
How are you using remote ime? This is only thing i could find in under that name. http://www.mygica.ca/forum/viewtopic.php?t=9&p=9
Tried scanning and manually entering ip and nothing.
Don't know about the Chinese app, doesn't look like it has a touchpad feature for using it as a pointer for touch controls that fire stick remote can't do. Joystick an option even though the stick isn't a game machine. Wantd to use something i already have if possible.
I haven't had any luck connecting anything Bluetooth. Monoprice Bluetooth headphones and sound brick show as detected but never play audio. Mouse detects but doesn't pair.
That Nyko gamepad works perfectly (as a gamepad and as a mouse), and if you go to the game controllers part of Settings you'll see Amazon mentions Nyko specifically, that controller is fully supported from the factory on the Fire Stick.

The Chinese app definitely can function as a mouse. Press the square in the upper right corner and select mouse module.

I get my fire TV sticks tonight so I will be testing it out. On my fire TV I didn't have to do anything but open the app on my phone and it displayed the ip of my ftv. When I selected it it installed the server automatically on the ftv.

Has anyone been able to get mouse clicks to work with WKremote, the chinese app, on the Fire TV Stick? I have no problem getting a mouse pointer and I'm able to move it around, but not able to click on anything. I've tried placing the pointer on the object i want to click on, then switching to gesture mode but that doesn't seem to work either.
I'm trying to use it on the Time Warner app and I need to be able to click different options. I also tried to click on something in XBMC with no luck.
Any suggestions?

Thanks. I figured thats how it should be working, but it wasn't for me. I'll try reinstalling it again to see if that does anything.
Is there an app for iOS folks. Dont see Wukong ?
Issues connecting to FireTV Stick
Anyone else having problems connecting to the FireTV Stick. When I open up the app it will search and see the FireTV and shows the correct IP, when I click it to connect it shows fail to initialize and brings me to some help section ( that clearly I do not understand)
Any info would be nice, perhaps there is an issue with the router I am using, uPnP is disabled or something? I just received my new router recently belkin ac1200 and I am not sure if that is the cause.
The Wukon app works for me on the FireTV Stick, but it's super slow. Mouse is jumpy, and inputs are sometimes delayed by 2-3 seconds.
I didn't install anything on the stick to support it, it just worked.
I am interested in how it works more if anyone has any English resources. Pretty cool how it puts up a notification on the FireTV Stick.
I hate to create a new thread with similar questions as others but none of the other threads seem to specifically address my question.
Is there a way to use the android phone to emulate a bluetooth keyboard/mouse functionality that simply pairs with other devices. I know there are many client/server applications but with regards to Fire TV Stick I just want to use the setting.apk and pair my phone to it. I have searched high and low but can't seem to find anything which makes me believe there is something inherent to that feature I don't understand which makes it not possible.
I have several apps sideloaded to Fire stick (Xfinity TV) requiring mouse and keyboard functionality. I can't find an efficient way to do this with my phone instead of buying more hardware (bluetooth keyboard/mouse).
Thanks!

Maybe something like this will help....
http://www.aftvnews.com/remote-mouse-app-released-for-fire-tv-fire-tv-stick/
Its like 2 bucks. It has both KB and mouse functionality. Not sure how good it is, I have no experience with it.
If you just need keyboard functionality, you can get by with Amazon's official app which is free...
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.amazon.storm.lightning.client.aosp&hl=en
EDIT: I re-read and understand you want native BT functionality to pair your android device. I have not come across anything like that. But, you can use the app which will let you ditch your hardware keyboard, but comes with extra steps of firing up the app and having your device and FTV on the same wireless network.
I just tried out the Free Wukong TV remote app from Google Play Store. It works to control the FTV Stick and has a mouse mode that lets you use the screen as a left click. I tried it in Xfinity To Go app and Old Slingplayer tablet app that needed a mouse to select options. It works but you need to switch between mouse mode and d pad mode. It's pretty easy to switch from the app.
The Wukong app once you install on your phone and then make sure you are on the same wifi network as the Stick and enter IP of Stick or press Scan network. It will install a Wukong Remote server app on the stick. Once that is installed restart your stick and try to connect. The on the upper right is a button to switch between remote styles ie keyboard, dpad, touchpad, mouse mode.
There is a Wukong keyboard app that you can install from the phone also which lets you input text in Stick using your phone virtual keyboard. I tried it and it works and is better than using the Stick remote. However I get scared of using that app to put usernames and passwords because this app is from China and who knows if they are keeping that information.
I ended up taking the Wukong of my daily use phone and put it on a a cheapie $10 Android phone. Works great and I feels safer that this app can't be logging my information.
You could try 'True Mouse/KB' in play store, it adds Bluetooth HID device profile to your phone.
