[Safe Root] Any solutions for fw UBML4 ?? - Galaxy S 4 Mini Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
We are a lot to search for a solution to root our S4 mini with the firmware XXUBML4.
As far as I know, there are actually 2 solutions to root this phone without triggering Knox (but..) :
- Safe Root by @k1mu but does not work for that firmware...
- Kingo but we don't know if the company who owns it, steals or not information so use with caution...
Any other solution ??
--> This thread concerns only safe root (without trigger Knox) <--

Still no solution?

Did you *try* safe root? If so post the output of the safe root script to see what's wrong.
But if safe root definitely doesn't work and you don't trust Klingo (and I don't think you should), then your only way to have root is to void your warranty. Maybe you should wait for a while, it may happen that someone will figure out a way to avoid the warranty bit issue in the coming months.

Yes safe root does not work and I didn't kept the log but the author of the script told that it does not work with this firmware..
Waiting or void warranty.. I quit apple world because it was too complicate and too long to get a jailbreak iPhone.. And now it's exactly the same thing whereas Android is free and open.. A shame!

Questions before I buy

So I've been thinking about picking up a new note 3 and I'm curious about a few things before I buy and any input would be great
1: if I root the note 3 will I trip Knox if I debloat ? Or would I have to freeze anything I don't want to run
2: anyone know if bestbuy extended warranty is void if I trip Knox?
3: can I still ruin Knox if I root it or will I have to freeze all Knox related software?
4: can I restore stock Rom via Odin or whatever other method without tripping Knox?
Thanks
Sent from my SGH-I317M using xda app-developers app
Probably be better if you posted that over in the note 3 section...
Might get a better response from people actually using the device...
Concerning the note 3 there's ways around the Knox thing...
But personally we're in the New year, so that means a new device is going to be coming soon...
That's why I didn't jump at the 3. Still missing some features that will be addressed in the next release...
Just to name a few for you, 64 bit, Ois(optical image stabilization)... I read they might use sapphire crystal, as the glass for the new devices...
Superior stuff there. Same thing they use on expenses watches...
I'll say do some Google searching b4, you jump the gun...
Just my 3¢™

1. No, it doens't if you have froze all KNOX related things, something with ELM and security service update (with/grey shild icon).
2. I don't know how it is in your country, but in my country you lose automatic your shop warranthy, even if you flash anything to stock or even if you're on the first 2 warranthy years.
3. You can still use it but it's highly recommanded to NOT use it. Freezing KNOX apps is the safest method because somethimes SuperSu and KNOX getting in conflict with each other. If you like you can even debload it.
4. Yes you can!
I highly recomend to root with the KingoRoot method. It's a program for your Windows desktop and you can get it here
Just select Note 3 by devices:
http://www.kingoapp.com/
It's an easy tool to ROOT your device without tripping the KNOX counter!
I hope this is helpfull for you and sorry for my bad English.

Things to consider!

Hi guys I have my galaxy S4 close to a year now and now that I paid off the phone and now im ready to rootand do the whole 9 yards.
So I used to have a htc sensation before and I remember it needed to be s-off in order to gain root access, so does this also applies to my s4 or is rhat just aplicable to htc phone?
Now let me give you guys my specs:
T-mo us SGS4.
Stock rom, untouched.
Stupid knox installed.
Kit kat 4.4.2
Baseband: M919uvufnb4
Secure boot status: Samsung
Device status: official.
So I read that knox trips up and correct me if im wrong it lets samsung knows or something like that so you cant claim for warranty purposes????whats the best custkm recovery for the s4? Cwm or twrp?
So I wanna do:
1. Root
2. Install custom recovery
3. Remove tmo and samsung bloat. (Does anyone know which are safe apps to remove and where to remove them from?)
4. At the end of the day have a fully working S4 rooted with less junk in it.
As I think of more stuff to do I will post, or if you guys have better ideas, steps, or anything just let me know. All your help will be greatly appreciated.

S-Off is an HTC thing. It doesn't apply to Samsung devices.
Knox will be tripped and they COULD prevent you from filing a warrenty claim. But that hasn't been a big deal so far and your phone is outside of warrenty anyway it sounds like.
Search for CF Auto Root. It makes rooting this a really simple 30 second process. (No downgrading firmware and all that jazz that you did on your Sensation using PM5110IMG files or whatever they were called.)
Custom recovery flashes in seconds as well.
You'll have to decide for yourself if you like CWM or TWRP. We don't allow discussions on XDA about 'which is better'. Both have their advantages. It depends on which you like best for your use.
There is a list of 'safe to delete' bloatware around here somewhere. The search feature will help you find it. But you can also just make a Nandroid backup first and delete whatever teh hell you want. If you break it, just restore.

Just a comment on CWM. I tend to use it more but had issues flashing multiple ROMS with it, kept getting an error about "4 arguments accepted, received 5" when it was partitioning. In the M919 developers forum someone recommended TWRP and that did the trick for me. I don't know if its KitKat or s4 related but for now I'd suggest TWRP, CWM has not been working for me.
Thanks bro ill keep that in mind

Pretty sure any sort of rooting technically voids the warranty. That's what an ODIN reflash is for.

Not in Europe (EU).
Don't feel bad read what is coming from Google .....http://m.gsmarena.com/google_announces_andriod_l_developer_preview-news-8864.php
Any device with ics or better can run Knox software and Samsung pushed it back to Google who will put it in Android L
Don't feel like having a device with Knox well the new iPhone may not have Knox

so the lg G3 has any sort of tamper flag implemented?
Well, I used towelroot to root the G3. It's pretty non-intrusive and very simple to use. No reboots required. Just install the APK and click a button.
Your bootloader stays intact and so does the stock recovery. If a simple root is all you want, try towelroot. You just need a factory reset to remove root.
And yes.. the S5 users are using it to root their devices without tampering the Knox bit. Based on this info, I would say it's pretty safe
No way to unroot towelrooted device without hard reset?

Is the factory reset enough to make the phone accept OTA's? I can't see why it wouldn't be (unless there is a tampered flag) however some people on here have said refreshing stock rom is the only way to do it.

I used towel root on my LG G Pro 2 to change my build prop so that I could install and run skygo. I performed a full unroot with supersSU Pro and surprisingly found that this did not satisfy skygo and it still flagged up as rooted (superSU Pro has always worked for me previously with other root processes).
I repeated the root process and I found some additional towel root files in system xbin which I removed then ran unroot with supersSU Pro and was then able to run skygo successfully.
I hope this is relevant to the g3 as I intend to buy a 32gb version but would like to have skygo on this. For the first time in my life, I am not charging in head first. I am holding back on my purchase and reading everything about it first.
Not sure I can keep this up for much longer though.
Good to know where to look.
Thanks for the info:good:

S6 Edge Root

Hi guys i havent been in the forums in a while and i thoght about rooting my device cause i formatted my phone and lost a bunch of pics that i want to recover. long story short i have tryied many apps and none seem to be able to recover the deleted pics. the only one so far that people claim that can do it is DiskDigger or something like it, but for it to fully work it needs ROOT. so my problem is that unless there is a 100% way of getting my deleted pics which at this point i doubt, then lets please proceed.
Since i need to ROOT im gonna give you guys my phone specs so you guys can get a picture and advice me better cause i dont want to mess up this phone cause is my daily driver.

is everything here ok? does anything seem ok in my phone? is it rootable?
ok first of all let me say that i do not care about the pay methods but i do care about losing other functionality like fingerprint scanner of LTE and less battery life and stuff like that. mine last me about a whole day with moderate use and some gaming in between.
i want basically to ROOT my phone and if possible and available without tripping the cursed knox so i can if available intall a custom recovery so i can backup and restore my phone from (on that actually works) cause i coulnt for the life of my phone NEVER restore from an image done by my S4 with TWRP or i never knew how to do it cause when i tryied it to fully wipe ended up having to reinstall the full firmware and rooting from scratch.
Also if available which apps and in which directories can be frozen and which ones can be unistalled cause im tired of facebook and instagram and Tmo useless crapware.
Sorry for the long and winded speech but this phone is almost a $1000 and i dont have insurance anymore and if knox tripped samsung wont fix or exchange.
thanks in advanced
have a nice day
sorry for the length again
Apparently you have done some reading (and if not, start reading) because you are mentioning all or most of the issues that some folks are experiencing with this phone when attempting to root with latest firmware updates. ( Not to mention the bricks. )
At first release it was possible with little consequences but that changed in a hurry with updates and with every update it becomes harder and more dangerous to root safely.
There is very little going on in development, just some rehashed versions of the old firmware and in the international forum there are some roms that lose a lot of features you want.
If you really need and rely on your expensive phone and need all features working, leave it stock.
As for your lost images, well your going to have to use your imagination and try to remember what they were.
I was a diehard rooter with all my devices until I met up with this Samsung 6Edge, I love the phone and am a big fan of Samsung so I'm sticking with stock debloated for now, I'm learning to live "stock" and enjoying my phone with all features working properly.

How do you debloat if you don't have root? are you just disabling the bloatware apps?

Yes, disabling all and any bloatware that gives you the option to disable.
When my phone is sitting idle it goes into 99% deep sleep.
With light use I'll get 30 + hours from a charge.
I don't subscribe to Facebook or any of those social media apps and for games I have a Tab2 running CM. I basically use my phone for calls, messages and photos and a couple of forums.

Sample of disabled apps.

I agree with @PanchoPlanet to an extent. There are 2 ways to root the S6 Edge right now. One works just fine with no issues. I have been rooted since I bought the device before Samsung Pay came out. The other way that people have been using to avoid tripping knox will screw up your phone. If you don't care about Samsung Pay then you can simply use CF-Auto root like always. then flash TWRP after you root. The only thing that has made rooting unsafe is the people trying to avoid knox. I keep posting everywhere that people need to stop worrying about knox. Unless you are in a security job or a government job or you want to use Samsung Pay then knox is absolutely of no concern. People worried about getting their device fixed or returning it because of the knox trip, I have read many people were able to without problems.

This root method works just fine --> Here
Except I use the newest Unikernel --> Here

Ok so, so far what i have done is just odin the UNIKERNEL which also rooted my phone. Everything is working nice exept for titanium which i already asked in another thread. So my next question is: is it safe to factory restore my phone from the phones menu -->backup and reset-->factory data reset <--
Is this safe and will it still remain rooted so i can install titanium and a custom recovery so i can do a full image?
Can someone plz answer today to see if im able to get my phone up and running by tonite?
Thanks again and in advanced.

Just install TWRP and flash SuperSU.
So there is noway to do this without tripping knox?
bump!
No.
Let me add on a bit to my initial response. Rooting the phone will trip Knox. Has been this way for quite some time. Discussed across many thread here and elsewhere.
Now the question comes up as to what do you lose by tripping Knox? Samsung Pay will never work for you. Android Pay may or may not work. Many people have been able to get it working at least in part, but disable Root (via SuperSu) when using Android Pay. I don't use either of those, so I don't care.
Then the question comes up if this voids warranty. The answer is only if you say "Hey, I rooted my phone and then broke something!" If you need warranty for a physical defect, go back to stock via Odin and you shouldn't have a problem. If you root your phone and then install a ROM not meant for your phone or local (like a Note ROM or an international ROM) you are probably going to mess something up that will be immediately obvious. The solution is not to do that.
Realistically, there aren't a ton of great ROMs available for this phone and most are based on stock anyway. No CM13 as yet. If you can live with your phone un-Rooted, that might be the wisest choice.
That said, I rooted my phone as soon as I got it. I went the full route, didn't care about tripping Knox and still don't. I have run both Renegade and TeamSPR ROMs and have been happy with them.
Now you can decide what to do.
Or u could root ur phone n install xposed on it ... Rooted S6 stock rom is now compatible with xposed its better than any custom roms out there
Sent from my LG-H815 using XDA-Developers mobile app
In my case, I only need temporary root. After that it maybe removed. So it would be nice to be able keep knox from being tripped if possible. Installing twrp is an additional step too that I would like to avoid again because it would serve no purpose since root would only be temporary. I also wanted to be sure that build G920PVPU3CPD3 could be rooted. Thanks for your input guys.
