OK. I have the US e980. All the ROMs say something along the lines of flash your correct modem/baseband.
Here's my question... Where are the basebands? Do threads with basebands start with some keyword?

APQ8064/MDM9x15M - This seems to be the newest one. It was on my E980 after the latest AT&T update, even though here it's listed for the Panamanian phone.
For some reason, this forum doesn't seem as organized as some other, maybe it's because this is all variants in one. But anyways try this link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2272177
I also wonder why roms for this phone even write radio partition. Usually flashing roms don't touch your radios. .
I would imagine if you flashed a Rom meant for one variant onto another, you would need that radio. And of course if you flash back to stock you're gonna need your original radio back. But you're right Optimusv. This forum seems so cluttered. I have about 10 links saved just for files and processes for this phone. Someone please give us an all-in-one stop link.....lol
Does anyone have a flashable APQ8064/MDM9x15M Modem? Or am I going to have to revert to stock to get it back?
Found it! I'll edit the OP for people who find this by search and such.

Ok All I am getting really confused.
I want to update to the latest froyo and keep my root.
I would also like the latest radio, this all seems pretty damn easy however I read all these different ways but only if you have this version rom or radio, etc.
Do I need to use Odin to flash one of the many files I have found.
Do I use clockwork?
What about the radio, I have an old DK17 one.
This is my setup now:
Unlocked Epic
Froyo 2.2.1 - Epic Experience
radio - DK17
Hardware revision is 5
At this point I am willing to donate to get an answer,
Thx,

Best bet is to post in the general section or Q&A next time, posting in development is a nono and will really only serve to get you flamed.
All custom ROMs available right now are based on EC05 so just flash one of them.

I am having a hard time finding a good custom rom that is based on this. I have a new custom rom loaded now and its not.
Also this still leaves the radio and how to update it.
Sorry about posting here, I didn't think this was a general topic as it deals with flashing & roms. But move it if necessary
Thx,
Force

Syndicate ROM Frozen by ACS is always a good decision. As for the modem update, it is either included in the ROM or you can find a flashable zip for it. I'm on the phone so I can't grab
a link for you, but I know it's around.
EDIT: found it, flash this with Odin and it will update your modem only.

Hmmm...today i recieved EC05 on EB13 it came thru while I was on 4G.
I've searched the forums and tried to shuffle out the order of which the OTAs came out, i.e. V10j, V10f, V20c and ect (I'm guessing in numerical/alphabetical order). Unless I missed a thread on this already (which one of you could kindly link me to) then what order were these released? Also, I read comments of trying different basebands (which I'm familiar w/ doing on other phones) but where do I find the links for these? Search didn't help me other than the baseband.img used for unbricking. Thanks in advance!
V10f was the original Gingerbread firmware, V10j was the Gingerbread OTA, and V20c is the current ICS firmware (not an OTA).

When you do the unbrick, you're supposed to just use the Korean version to install a custom recovery. From there you flash whatever ROMs you want. The Korean GB isn't meant to be stayed on. Look in the developer area, there are a few to choose from. From stock/rooted ICS, to various flavors of CM9, and others based on CM10.
Hello all. I have a I9195T (Telstra, Australia - Serranoltexx), which I took the plunge and rooted (thank you arco68!) and then installed CM10.2 direct from the CM wiki page. This is working great, but I am bit confused as to how the modem works. I appear to have retained my baseband (phew!), but wonder how this translates to using other custom ROM's from XDA etc.
If they are made for a different baseband (but for I9195) is it possible to backup the MODEM firmware, flash another ROM and then flash the MODEM over again to retain the baseband? If this is possible where do I find the MODEM firmware to back it up? I've had a search but I think I am missing the really low level understanding of how the MODEM itself fits into the ROM picture.
Any help appreciated, even if its just a search term suggestion or link.
edit: I should put my baseband is I9195TDVUAMH1, using 1800mhz LTE.

As far as i know our devices does not have any limitations concerning flashing ROMs and having an "incorrect" Modem.
I would recommend though to have always the latest modem.

Hello people,
I am sorry I have to make a new thread
I have a t889v note 2 on 4.3, rooted, with videotron 4.3 using this http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1975560 rom, baseband T889VVLUCMK4 and I want a piece of that kitkat action. I have used EFS professional to backup NV items because I don't want to end up with a f****d up IMEI number with no reception, but I'm not sure Im in the clear to test out different roms.
This is the reason for my post, I want to know which roms I would be the safest with. I have read so many conflicting posts on this I don't feel confident enough to make a judgement call. Does t0lte roms include any modem that would conflict with my t889v modem/baseband? What about t0ltetmo ? I understand that's the part where t-mobile comes in but this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...06&postcount=8 says I shouldn't ever use t0ltemo, but would t889v not be closer to t889 than GT-N7105 ? In the same thread people are saying they flash t-mobile roms and then just flash the canadian modem on top and it works fine, but I would rather not mess anything up the first time around.
Anyone care enough to help? Basically I just want to know what to look for in my rom selection, I understand I don't want a rom with a built-in modem, but this is conflicting too, omnirom early builds have no modem while later builds have one?

I'm guessing you've been deterred by my post at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2684412
In my experience, ROMs for the GT-N7105 work fine. You can also try other ROMs for AT&T, and Sprint, they are usually ok. I think there are many other posts on this on XDA, so have a look.
The moral of the story is, make sure to back up your EFS partition. It's that simple.
if it is a rom that you flash in recovery you should be fine. they don't usually contain a modem or bootloader that would bork your install. You should be able to flash att, tmo, or n7105 roms with no problem
Thank you very much to both of you, very appreciated.
I went on to install omnirom 4.4 but Im not really liking the multiwindow, its a poor experience compared to touchwiz, I might eventually switch to a touchwiz ui based rom to get note 3 features and all the goodies, Im not sure yet.
As long as you don't flash a non T889V modem you should be good. When in doubt, nothing stops you from checking the zip or tar to see if it includes a modem, and removing it if needed.
If you haven't seen it yet, some recoveries recently had issues after flashing KitKat ROMs where your IMEI would show as unknown along with the phone not having service. Flashing the same ROM with another, updated, recovery fixes it.
I had recently obtained a s3 its a T-mobile, its running 4.1.2, with the T999UVDMD5 baseband. I rooted it, flashed xposed(haha the only thing XD). Well, reading about/friends have said there was trouble with the 4.3 update so I decided to stay on 4.1.2.
However, now I've decided to flash a custom rom, and I have noticed the different labels(D2lte, D2tmo, D2usa) and I had read from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1736477 "As of right now, the roms for your S3 are not meant to be used on other S3 variants" .
I have a few questions:
1.There was a baseband update, should I update it? If so, how exactly?
2.Would it be wise to flash a D2lte on This T-mobile device? I was looking at Resurrectionhttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2692481(originally waiting on cm11 but.. Yeah lol)
3.Looking at KitKat rooms, which ones could I flash?
4.Would it be safe, if I did flash a 4.4.2 to restore a nandroid backup of my fresh rooted stock 4.1.2.
5.Lastly, what kernel would you say use?(Sorry to ask, curiosity as to which i could flash)
I appreciate taking your time to answer my questions and have a good day!
1) custom recovery.. There are zips available to flash
2) d2lte covers all d2 devices so its safe
3)Any on the development threads
4) Yes
5) like on 3, you can flash any kernel in the development threads, experiment and see which one works the best for you!

To answer your questions:
1. You do not need to update your firmware - I'm still on MD5. Modems, however, can be flashed separately from firmware.
2. You can flash d2lte ROMs on this phone as it's all one unified build for US SGS3 variants. (I.e. T-Mobile/AT&T/Sprint/Verizon SGS3 is now all built under d2lte).
3. As far as which KK ROM to flash...just try them all out and see which ones you like the best. Each ROM has different features - see which one is right for you.
4. If you don't update your firmware, then yes. (FYI, flashing a custom KK ROM does not update your firmware. However, if you flash one of the 4.3 root66 files that has firmware included, then it will update your firmware).
5. Again, try it out. It's hard to say which ROM/kernel combination will work best. I suggest you read the forums to see what people think of them.
Hope that helps.

No problem, and i forgot to say but the only time you might need to update modem is if you flash a 4.3 touchwiz ROM, other than that its not really needed unless you want to experiment and see if one gives you better results

Oh, and one more thing: DO NOT flash a ROM that is for the international version of the SGS3 (i9300). It will, most definitely, brick your phone.
Don't know if you knew that or not...just wanted to make sure.
