Hi,
It goes to show that a little knowledge is a dangerous thing!!!
I flashed my phone with Team Viper 2.6 (I think) and all was working fine ubtil I tried another Rom, can't remember which one and the phone will not boot past the HTC white screen.
After many hours of being unsuccessful, I sent the phone back to HTC for repair and after a few days they said that the mainboard needed replacing for almost £200 !!! So i decided against that and got the phone back.
I can get into HBoot and Fasboot USB, also can get into TWRP, so tried to reload Team Viper, as that is the only backup I had. It went through the installation process OK, but still won't get past the flash screen.
Here are some details of the phone:

You probably just need to flash the boot.img from the rom zip...extract it to your fastboot folder and then execute " fastboot flash boot boot.img" and then "fastboot erase cache" using cmd (command prompt) and then reboot

Thanks for the reply, but where would I get the boot.img from?
Would that be from the Team Viper ROM, or do I download from elsewhere?
Look in the flashable zip. Simply extract the boot.img from the zip:thumbup:

U have a backup of viper rom right? And twrp recovery? So there is a boot.emmc.win file in twrp folder on your sd card.. Flash this boot file from fastboot( b4 or after restoring the backup)

You will find it in the rom zip file or you can download the viper kernel from the rom's thread..either of them will work for you.. good luck mate

Thanks to all you guys for your help, but did as you suggested and still no further forward.
Is there a ROM that will return my phone to stock complete with kernel, boot.img etc, that will re-install everything, wike a Windows re-installation. Or am I asking too much here?
I am losing faith in this and I can see it being dumped in the trash before long.
Flash this recovery
http://db.tt/SPXdFfPw
Rename it to recovery.img and flash it :
Fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Fastboot erase cache
Then flash the boot.img from the viper x 3.7.5 (open the rom.zip with 7zip and copy the file)
Fastboot flash boot boot.img
Fastboot erase cache
Then go into recovery and wipe all :
Factory reset
Wipe cache partition
Mounts & storage - format cache,data,system
Advanced - wipe dalvik cache
Then install the viper x rom.zip and follow instructions.
When you get a question about a kernel....choose viper x delivered !
Done

Mr Hofs, many thanks for the links. I downloaded 3.7.4 and the update 3.7.5.
That was the good bit......I tried to push the ROM using adb in command mode, but I couldn't get it to recognise the phone.
I thought I maybe able to drop the files onto the sd card via Windows, but althought the phone is recognised in Device Manager, it doesn't show up in Windows Explore.
I am sorry that all your help and advice has been wasted, maybe it will help others whose phone isn't as sick as mine.
I may have another go tomorrow, but it's looking like it's headed for that great waste bin in the sky.:crying:
If you want to copy the rom to the phone you go into the recovery and then to
Mounts & storage - mount as mass storage (last option in that list)
Its now a usb diskdrive and windows will recognize it (if its not, wait long enough like a minute or so. It can take a while)
Then copy the stuff you need.
Mr Hofs, Many thanks for your help.
I downloaded 3.7.4 and update 3.7.5 and tried adb push and sideload but my device wasn't recognised, although W8 could see it in Device Manager.
I will give it one more go today and if that doesn't work, it's that great trash bin in the skt.
Again many thanks for your help.:crying:
Like i said you don't need to sideload or adb anything, just do as above and you can copy it normally

Mr Hofs,
Just one last question.... is there a way to get back to the Viper default settings, colours etc, without re-installing the ROM?
What do you mean exactly with colours and stuff, did you flash a theme ?

Yes I did ! I used your dark and yellow theme, but the trouble is now that I can't read texts and the normal (HTC) settings are all in yellow and very difficult to read.
Should I do a complete install of Viper again?
Lol did you picked the yellow theme on the skin picker ?
Hi guys,
Please help !
I've bought a new phone, htc one x, from someone. barely had time to install few apps, and got this OTA update message.
Without thinking twice - i did it. But it seems that the phone was rooted ! and as I understand now - it's a big no-no .
I've tried to figure out from the forum what to do , but - all the answers seems to include fastboot and ADB, which in turn require
the drivers of the phone to be installed. But my phone is dead ! so I can' t do it.
I'm new to roms and all, and I really need your help .
How can I make my phone work again ? I don't care which ROM , custom or stock , just to make it work .
Any help will be appreciated.

Hi , yes, I can access the fast boot, but even trying to restore to factory defaults didn't help.
And I can't istall the fastboot on my pc since it needs to connect to a working phone in debug mode (if I understand correctly)
Google Fastboot files
And place them on your pc..for example
On desktop..
C:\Users\Name\Desktop\
and next step go in that directory via CMD typr this
cd C:\Users\Name\Desktop\Fastboot\
And type this
Fastboot getvar cid
Then you will se your CID
go this thread and follow steps to recover your phone

Thank you very much for your help.
I've did the steps as you say, and finally was able to "see" my phone in fastboot from PC.
but the CID I am getting is 11111111 , and there is no backup that matches it.
Can I overwrite it with some kind of rom ? I don't care to loose all the data, just to get a working phone.
Download clockwordmod recovery img file And flash it via Fastboot..
Fastboot flash recovery recoveryname.img
And then download this file:
Link!
And then access in recovery mount storage and copy that .zip file on your phone Clear and wipe everything except battery stats..And then flash that .zip file

Hi Thant, thank you for your help.
So you are saying that big noob's method won't work ?
I've downloaded the RUU, but I did not understand what you've meant by : "lock the bootloader" and when should I post the results of "fastboot getvar all" ? after I run the RUU , or before ?
You should post it before RUU..Well i tryed my method before and .zip flashed successfully..
And you can relock it with this command:
fastboot oem lock
Here's what I've got, no what should I do with it ?

I tried to relock , but it said phone is already locked.
Then I ran RUU and got the following error :
ERROR [159] - The ROM update utility cannot update your Android phone. Please get the correct ROM Update Utility and try again .
But what is the correct for me ? and where do I get it ?

ENDEAVORU XE have problems with update you must manually update the firmware and after this to install RUU or custom rom.
Download THIS OTA open the zip and extract firmware.zip to your fastboot folder after this do this
Type: fastboot oem rebootRUU and wait for device to reboot you will see HTC logo
Type: fastboot flash zip firmware.zip and wait for process to complete
Sometimes flashing for the first time doesn't work, so flash firmware.zip again just to make sure.
Type: fastboot flash zip firmware.zip and wait for process to complete
Type: fastboot reboot
Unlock your bootloader and flash custom recovery if you are going to use custom ROM.
I want to thank you for your patience with a noob like me
I did everything till the last line.
After flashboot reboot, my phone passed the first htc logo that it was stuck on , but now it's stuck on htc one screen (the one with beats audio logo at the bottom) .
Do I need to do the flash custom rom recovery ?

yes now flash custom recovery philz 5.15.x mount usb storage copy custom rom to the phone install and flash the boot.img and you will have working rom sense or no sense. Now after flash the firmware what is your hboot version 1.39? If yes you are ready to go
ok , just to make sure I understand before I do it a screw something up :
"yes now flash custom recovery philz 5.15.x mount usb storage copy custom rom to the phone install and flash the boot.img and you will have working rom sense or no sense. Now after flash the firmware what is your hboot version 1.39? If yes you are ready to go"
my hboot version is indeed 1.39
so I d/l philz custom recovery .
no I should :
fastboot flash zip philz_touch_6.07.9-endeavoru.zip
then go to the custom recovery ? (how ? ? ? )
then d/l some custom rom (any recomendations ? just a good stable one, possibly stock)
then copy it to phone using fastboot
and then , from custom recovery flash it ?
I'm sorry for all these questions, but I'm afraid to touch the damn thing already ))))
Flash the recovery (its a img file NOT a zip, take out the img if its in the zip)
Fastboot flash recovery recoveryname.img
Fastboot erase cache
Enter the recovery by selecting FASTBOOT in the bootloader and then RECOVERY (navigate with the volume buttons and confirm with the power button)
Go to the mounts and storage menu and mount the sdcard as a mass storage disk (wait a few minutes until it pops up on the pc)
Copy the rom.zip to the sdcard. Take out the boot.img and flash it via fastboot
Fastboot flash boot boot.img
Fastboot erase cache
Enter recovery again and perform a full wipe
Factory reset
Wipe cache partition
Advanced-wipe dalvik cache
Mounts and storage-format cache, data and system
Install the rom.zip
Done !
Roms....just check the android dev section. Many roms to choose and read up for yourself. It's not that difficult ...maximus and arhd are very close to stock.
Thank you for the detailed reply !
When doing Fastboot flash recovery recoveryname.img I got the messege :
FAILED <remote : not allowed>
Is the problem that my phone is locked ? (written locked at the top of fastboot screen) tried to do fastboot oem unlock but getting "Command error !" .
I saw this solution : http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/74316-a-solution-to-fastboot-flash-recovery-not-allowed-error/ , but I'm not sure it will fit my phone (as it talkes about a different one) and what is a PD98IMG.zip file ?
can anyone help me out here. I was trying to root my HTC one X. I have unlocked the bootloader. I ran a script to root the device but now it is stuck on HTC quietly brilliant. I can vol down and power to get into the boot menu but cannot get into the normal OS
I assume you did not make a nandroid backup ?
sorry. All I have done so far is unlock the boot menu. I ran a script which has the following
fastboot-windows.exe flash boot boot.insecure.img
fastboot-windows.exe reboot
adb-windows.exe kill-server
adb-windows.exe wait-for-device
adb-windows.exe remount
adb-windows.exe push system /system
adb-windows.exe shell chmod 6755 /system/xbin/su
it reboots my phone and its stuck. I can get back into the vol down power button menu. I don't think it got rooted
So you have a custom recovery ?
Edit :
The easiest way is to go with a custom rom which is rooted already

Oke i suggest you check for a rom that you would like to run and download the rom. After that you do this :
Download this recovery and rename it to recovery.img
https://www.dropbox.com/s/yqzlpqo8illa53j/Philz recovery 5.15.9.img
Flash it :
Fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Fastboot erase cache
Then flash the boot.img from the rom.zip (it's inside, take it out via 7zip. Open the archive and copy the boot.img)
Fastboot flash boot boot.img
Fastboot erase cache
Then enter the recovery and mount the sdcard in the mount and storage menu, copy the rom.zip.
Make a full wipe :
Factory reset
Wipe cache partition
Advanced-wipe dalvik cache
Mounts&storage-format cache, data, system
Then install the rom.zip and reboot
all I can do it vol down and power on. I get a menu saying unlocked at the top and s-on. I can do into fastboot and then run some commands from the laptop like the one above

ok Mr Hof. The rom is the operating system isn't it. I just want to put the same one on that I had. So I will look for HTC one X 4.22 rom and then follow your instructions.
If you want the exact same rom you have to restore a new nandroid backup if it's available. That's a bit more technical than a new custom rom. Custom roms also come in stock versions i will edit some links in here in a few minutes.
Edit 1 :
This is a stock like rom which can be installed the way i described in the post above

Make sure you get the one x version and not the ONE version. Sometimes people read it wrong and trying to install the wrong rom to the device !
I checked the nandroid backup collection but the version that was originally on your phone is not available, so a custom rom is the only way for now to get it back up.

Hi,
I awoke this morning to have my One reboot on me, only to have it hang at the green HTC logo.
I need help getting it functional again, asap.
I'm s-off and rooted.
What I can do:
Boot to bootloader and use fastboot commands - but
Code:
fastboot reboot oem rebootRUU
does not boot to the black HTC screen, but back to the green HTC logo, so I'm unable to flash a RUU.
What I can't do:
Use adb commands
Boot to recovery - freezes at teamwin screen. However, when the phone is stuck at the teamwin screen, I seem to be able to use adb - if I get here, I can reboot to the bootloader with adb.
Boot to system - hangs at the green HTC startup logo.
What I've tried:
Using fastboot to flash a new recovery to restore the backup I should have - still hangs at teamwin screen
Is there anything that can be done to fix this, or is my phone a lost cause?
can you get to hboot by holding vol- and power for a bout 30 sec?
Yes, that's how I'm able to get the fastboot stuff working.
After further investigation, it seems nothing I do persists on the phone. I attempted to flash the stock recovery to attempt another factory reset, but it still attempts to boot to TWRP.

by any chance did you make a backup of you internal storage because ruu will format it.

Yes to both - but how can I flash a RUU? When I run the fastboot oem rebootRUU command it does not boot to the usual black/silver HTC screen, instead the normal green startup logo.

fastboot oem rebootRUU
also make sure RUU is the only capital letters
when i fastboot, if you type:
Code:
fastboot devices
what is the output ??
Unfortunately, that has the same result - stuck at the green HTC boot logo.
EDIT:
After sitting at this screen for awhile, it booted into what looks like the stock rom, asking for a password to decrypt the storage. I don't recall ever setting a password for this, and even if I did, I stopped using the stock rom almost as soon as I got the phone.
Code:
fastboot devices
outputs the serial number and that it's in fastboot:
Code:
-serial number here- fastboot

make sure the pc can see fastboot on the device with command:
Code:
fastboot devices
if output looks like this:
C:\>fastboot devices
FA38PS904782 fastboot
you should be able to type:
Code:
fastboot flash zip nameofruu.zip
and it will start to process.

Unfortunately, no. I just get an option to decrypt the storage with a password or make an emergency call. I'm about to attempt to flash the ruu .zip without booting into rebootRUU, unless there is something else I can do.
did you use a kernel or recovery with F2FS?
Not to my knowledge, no. When trying to flash the ruu without rebootRUU I get the following:
Code:
C:\>fastboot flash zip PN07IMG_M7_WL_JB_50_VZW_1.10.605.15_DECRYPT.ZIP
sending 'zip' (1178528 KB)...
OKAY [ 55.707s]
writing 'zip'...

Yes, flashing the ruu didn't work.
Have you tried flashing recovery again ?.
Try flashing philz recovery . Make sure it's m7wlv version
rename to recovery.img and add to platform tools folder
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot erase cache
Try rebooting into recovery

I can't seem to find a version of Philz recovery for m7wlv. Am I correct in thinking I need the m7vzw version from https://goo.im/devs/philz_touch/CWM_Advanced_Edition/m7vzw/ here?
You are on older firmware, have you tried flashing newer firmware and see if ruu mode works after flashing firmware? You are s-off, so you can downgrade when you ruu.

This is worth a shot, I guess. Is there any particular version of the firmware or might any newer than 1.10.605.15 work?
EDIT:
After trying this, I get the same remote:not allowed error as above.
Additionally, after flashing philz recovery - which the console says is successfully flashed, when I reboot to recovery, it still hangs at the blue teamwin logo as before.

Here's the latest ruu for s-off http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=52987679

That was the one I tried, to no success. After flashing it and clearing the cache, when I boot to recovery it still sits at a blue teamwin screen.
Hi guys, I'm stuck in a bootloop with Android Revolution HD Rom installed, I took the risk and flashed it now I'm in a bootloop.
I'm pretty sure I just need a firmware update...
Can someone tell me what to do please!!!
Care to walk me through what you've done step by step?

Hi, yep. I've unlocked the bootloader installed twrp and rooted.....but all the twrps I've tried won't allow me to stick in a usb with a rom on....
So I stuck Android revolution HD on internal storage and flashed it from there except I'm now stuck in the bootloop.
I can adb/fastboot but I can't adb sideload as the pc says no devices attached when I boot into recovery when plugged into pc....
It's was on Orange UK but they are no longer so I wanted to wipe....
It would be OK if I could s-off and superCID but I can't so I'm stuck!!!

Just to confirm some details.
Is this the rom you flashed?
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1562603
And this file is the one you flashed?
https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=24415232478675057
The recoveries used for this device is divided into new and old layout.
Android Revolution HD uses the old layout.
To be sure you use the old layout just keep using an old version of.
https://eu.dl.twrp.me/endeavoru/
So you would use twrp twrp-2.6.3.0-endeavoru.img.
All the other links starts with 3.0 and that is the new layout.
If you have all this in order.
And you remembered to wipe everything before flashing this rom?
If so then your problem would be solved by easily flashing the boot.img in fastboot which is the kernel.
We cannot touch the kernel from the recovery because there is no official way to s-off the one x.
So when you flash a rom you are only half way there with this particular device because you need to boot to hboot and go into fastboot mode.
On a computer open the rom archive Android_Revolution_HD-One_X_33.1.zip and extract boot.img.
Open a cmd in the same folder ( hold shift and right click and select Open command window here)
In the cmd type "fastboot flash boot boot.img" without the quotes.
If you do not have adb/fastboot installed get it here https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588979
It will install all tools you need and even the driver but you will need to manually select this driver if your computer does not see your one x.
But we'll take it from there when and if that happens.
