wooden toast on case - Moto X Accessories

Hey folks,
I recently found out about the Toast skin that is made of wood resembling a wood back Moto X. I'm really interested in getting one, but I was wondering has anyone used the skin on a case opposed to directly on the phone? I customized my Moto X so I don't want to lose that by sticking the skin on. I'd also like to be able to easy take it off rk either use no case or the current case I own. Any advice or answers are appreciated! Thanks!

I've not done it myself yet, but thought about it as well (also because I'd like to be able to swap it out readily if I want). I suspect you may run into problems when the case flexes. I don't know how flexible the Toastmade back is, but because it's actually solid wood, I expect it won't flex a whole lot. Therefore, things like TPU cases probably won't play nice with it. Get a really hard case, like maybe the Powersupport Air Jacket, and maybe it'll stay together just fine? The adhesive would be the next question. From what I've read, it's really strong adhesive and isn't likely to have problems sticking to hard case materials.
Curious what others may have to say about this though; if anyone has actually done it, how it turned out.

I'm wondering the same thing. My only concern is getting one and it being too stiff to change when I want too.

i noticed the second doesn't have speaker holes so not sure what it would be like and i was wondering has any1 tried it and how they thought how good or bad these case where? thanks in advance
Well they are looking good but most important thing is if you can operate volume and power buttons easily. I bought one silicon case last time and it was real nightmare when I tried to operate the volume or switch off the screen.

This appears to be the a different color of the first case you linked to.

The review is not positive.
that for showing me that thread so not going to buy that one
just my .02 cents. When I originally ordered case in question the website showed different pictures of it, making it look like the TMO rubber case. Definitely not what I had ordered. Case came in and so I said what the heck ill try it. Bad idea, this cause in my opinion is horrible. Very loose, back feels weird, and the sides are extremely thin. I emailed Amzer telling them thats not what I ordered and so thought a good way to deal with it is to send me another one of the exact same color...... So now I have 2 of them sitting on my desk not being used, as I bought TMO one and I love it
The first case you linked is just no good in my opinion. First off its too loose. Your phone could easily just fall out of the case while talking on the phone. Its very annoying. Secondly the type of material used LOOKS as if it would be easier to grip but the opposite is true. The rubbery surface is actually really slick. Its more slick than using the phone without a case. Absolutely no friction when holding the phone.
I personally like this case A LOT. Its amazing

Custom Holster Project

Hey Folks, I've been lurking here for a few years now, starting back with trying to solve terrible battery issues with my Droid Incredible. I found a great community that is always here to help! I've never posted much, as almost all the answers I have ever needed have already been addressed. Just gotta use that search function.
I'm looking to start a new project, and I'm looking for input, help, and criticism. If I decide to go ahead with this, I am curious if anybody would be interested in having the process documented as an instructional thread.
--
My new phone is Galaxy S III. It's wonderful, but cumbersome to carry. I don't trust the continued flexion forces from being in my jeans pocket ( i cracked a screen less than a week into owning my first one, and since had it replaced (next time I'm just going to try the replacement...hopefully it doesn't happen again).
The only other option is a pouch/holster/belt case. There are a ton of them out there, but not what I want. It needs to fit my Trident Kraken. It needs to provide impact and crush protection, and not be made with a crummy belt clip that can break off, as my primary vehicle is a motorcycle. Also, easy to access is a must as I use my phone all day at work for music/podcasts and I'm on my feet running about.
Features:
Rigid - Able to withstand being worn on the hip inside a waistband/belt and worn on the belt traditionally. Current Materials being considered - delrin/kydex/various metals/leather. Input needed from a strength standpoint.
Slim - My phone is already in a Trident Kraken case.
Moisture barrier. Depending on materials/design used this could be irrelevant.
TL;DR - Want to see a sweet custom case made? Want to help? Reply.
With an "external" case on your belt, it is really obvious for other people where your telephone is. Snatchers are everywhere. How are you going to solve that problem with a holster case?
That's a great point, and one of the biggest reasons I am not thrilled about an external holster. A rigid slip case that can be stuck in my pocket or inside my waistband, hence the clip, would be ideal. I have decided on the clip I am going to use, as I have figured out a way to make it removable for a sleeker profile. As far as material, I'm going to use carbon fiber cloth and resin. I'm still researching. Does anybody have ideas for what to wrap around my phone/case for the liner when I apply the carbon fiber?

Put the phone in a ziplock bag, make sure it's vacuum and maybe make a cast of it for future messing around with it. I don't know if you have an air compressor you can use which has an option to suck air, that way it will be so vacuum you wont be able to open the bag normal anymore, just make a hole near the phone so the air snaps back in.
That is a great idea! I have access to shrink wrap bags, and seeing as you lose volume when duplicating via cast and molding, that would counteract it. I could then take that replica and safely work on it. A thin thermoforming plastic such as kydex could be the internal lining that I wrap in carbon fiber. I am hesitant to apply 400 degree plastic to my actual phone haha.

I can understand the importance of phone as well as their mobility with safety. Trident Kraken case which you are using now is fantastic but its a ungodly beast of a case. But it does offer peace of mind.
I suggest you to go for Commuter series available at phonecover.ca. As Commuter is slimmer case as compared, and it gives a very good protection. As It consists of several layers.

Looking for a new case

Hey everyone!
Right now I am on my third Body Glove case, which were sold by AT&T awhile back. I have three because they keep breaking, and I managed to snag some for being under warranty. However, on the one I just got, they said that they no longer will be producing or honoring warranties on these cases, as they simply won't be making them anymore. Therefore, I am in the market for a new case. I am looking for one that is relatively sturdy/thick (this one is about 1/16th of an inch, not counting the felt liner), has a rubberized plastic coating (non-slip), and that doesn't inhibit the function of the phone that much (my case right now is a little bit on the keyboard, that's fine). Really any color will do, right now I have a cobalt-blue color case, just as long as it isn't any feminine color or anything of the like. If anyone knows of anybody that makes cases like this (that you could suggest), please share them!
Thanks
Look on ebay. There's plenty on there.

I see that there are a lot on eBay, however, a lot of them also seem like cheap import crap. While something being inexpensive isn't necessarily a bad thing, being flimsy would be. Plus, I was looking for recommendations as to cases that others use.

I use the speck sure slider case and its great. Except one thing.. The part that exposes the camera and speaker is really weak. Other than that its probably the best case for this phone.
Sent from my SGH-I927 using xda premium
I was really considering that case, actually. The only really big turn off is the fact that it leaves that metal(ic?) portion with the camera and speaker exposed. I really can see all kinds of dirt and lint and such fouling up both the speaker and the camera, as well as the fact that the metal itself is exposed (scratches! yay!).
Related to that case, does the gigantic speck logo on the back bother you at all when it is being held, or affect it lying flat?
I hardly notice it really. Your not gonna find a great case like trident or otterbox for this phone so lets not be too picky lol.

Haha, not trying to be too picky, I just am looking for a good case.
On a side note, every rubber-coated case I have gets discolored from skin oils...what do you all think is the best way to clean these kinds of cases?

HTC Double Dip Flip Cover

Hello there
I am coming from a Samsung Galaxy SIII and the first and only case I have ever used for it was the flip cover, which I absolutely loved, perhaps more than the phone itself. I just realized that there's an official HTC flip cover called the Double Dip Flip. I read some reviews about it on XDA and other websites and as usual some are good and some are bad. There seemed to be a lot of issues with the early units of those covers, like blocking the microphone, which were fixed in the latter units. The one thing that concerns me the most is whether or not it actually scratches the device? My device is silver and I absolutely love its brushed aluminum body and wouldn't want any scratches on it, even though I know that sooner or later I'll get some but I'd rather delay that as much as I can. I might opt for a ZAGG Invisible Shield so I can protect the back and the sides, but I am really interested in the flip cover because it seems very ideal.
What are your experiences with it? Did it ever scratch your device? I am not the type of people who keep removing covers and cleaning, except maybe once every week or two, so I am looking for something that's durable and doesn't need constant care and cleaning.
I have a rubber back at the moment which is actually the only case I have seen for the HTC One in Egypt, or at least in the stores I have been to - it's just not as popular as the Galaxy over here.
Thank you.

The flip cover is cloth on the inside, and does not scratch the device at all. As long as you keep it clean inside (As you need to with any cover), there's no reason for any scratching. The only issue I have with mine is the corners are a bit flimsy. The phone absolutely will NOT fall out of the case no matter how hard you try, but they do have some movement in the corners. Otherwise it works fine and looks good.
I really like the cover overall, especially since I use it as a iPad-style smart cover, turning the phone on and off using Tasker + proximity sensor.
Thanks, the cloth on the inside is definitely reassuring. Ah, so from what I understand the corners don't tightly grip the device and therefore it moves a little bit? Well, I suppose that's okay although it can get a bit annoying if you'll be using it as your daily driver. There is a thread on here in which members posted several cases, and there's a Speck case I really liked for it; there are also some ultra thin ones which seem awesome, but of course they don't seem protective at all but rather just for looks, and this time, unlike when I had iPhones, I am looking for protection rather than beauty - to be honest, a naked HTC One is more beautiful than any device I've ever seen before, so the cover is just for protection, nothing can make it look better. Haha. Thanks for your reply.
I personally love it, and I've had this case since it's launch, protects the phone solidly I guess, the one thing I don't really like is that it doesn't cover the sides but other than that, it makes my One look really sophisticated and sexy haha
I just got back from the HTC store and I got it. It looks and feels solid, as you said, and I love the leather-like material which seems to be durable. I thought it would cover the sides as well but I guess it's better than nothing; plus, it'll make it easier for me to clean the sides every day because white gets dirty rather quickly. I also love the landscape feature which wasn't available the Galaxy SIII's flip cover, it really makes it much easier to watch videos on YouTube and such.
I like it, but it's kind of a pain in the ass when taking pictures.

That's true. I don't use the camera often though so it doesn't bother me much.

There are some things I dislike about this case but I bought anyways knowing the negatives but in general I love this case it's easy to snap on and off because I enjoy having my phone bare at home and the stand is really cool and useful so I'm gonna keep but I do hope they redesign this case as the back looks like a crease mess and camera cut out being a little too big exposing the phone while closed

My Cheap Case

I ordered my v20 on Tuesday and needed a quick cheap case until I figure out what I really want.
I have Amazon prime so my requirements were:
Cheap
Prime eligible
Get here same day as the v20
More protection than plain tpu or ultra thin case
Not too bulky or hideous lol (obviously subjective)
Here's what I came up with.
LG V20 Case,Profer[Heavy Duty][Drop Protection] Dual Layer Armor Holster Defender Full Body Protective Hybrid Wallet Case Card Slots [Slim Fit]cover for LG V20(Pink) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LYVIZZ1/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_rjbfyb2RXF823
I decided to go with pink because I've been black or grey forever it seems especially considering I usually use a zerolemon and they're not much on offering *any* case options.
I'm a girl so why not try pink for a change? It comes in a few nice colors though so no one has to be forced into pepto bismal pink.
I have 2 very similar cases for my V10. 2 because one came already cracked so I got a second (free) to replace it. (that one also cracked with use!)
I decided to try this type again knowing the risk of the cheapness factor.
The case is 2 pieces that come already "assembled". I decided to pry them apart to make the case a little easier to get on the phone. The black is a tpu type case and the pink is a hard shell.
Personally I like the case. There are no fit problems. It does have the phantom button that a lot of the cases have for the battery door button but it's not in the way it's just unnecessary.
I don't have any issue feeling or pressing the power button. The volume buttons are clicky and I like that.
There is a decent raised lip on the front to protect the screen if I want to place the phone face down.
The case is also sufficiently raised so as to protect the rear camera hump.
The charging cable fits with no trouble. The opening for the headphone jack was a little too small for the cable I use in my car but it's a stupid fat cable that has been a problem with other cases so it's probably not an issue for most cables.
The pink color is not as "nice" as it looked in the pictures on Amazon. It reminds me of that nasty putty stuff the orthodontist used to make the molds of my teeth for braces a million years ago. lol But it's growing on me.
Overall I like the case and for a cheap case, (I paid 8.99 and added the 3.99 for 1 day shipping) it's pretty nice! I don't expect too much from it because of my experience with the similar style case for my V10. However, it is a slightly different design on the bottom around the ports which is where the v10 cases broke and I think this design will be less likely to crack the way the other one did.
Last but far from least, I included pictures after attaching my beloved flygrip. For once I decided to try a case that matches it and it worked out. I don't what I'd do without my Precious. I'm completely attached to this thing and couldn't imagine dealing with the "pinky rest" style of holding my phone again. It really is the best thing since sliced bread as far as phablet + one handed use goes. The kick stand feature is addicting. I get a lot of questions about it so I usually include it when I post any case pictures.
So there you have it. An awfully long review for a cheap case.
Here comes the pictures!
How easy is it to get cards in and out of the slot?
Great write-up! I like the looks of the case actually. You make me want to post pics of mine when I get them.

Oops! I kind of ignored that feature. Mostly because I don't plan to use it but I didn't like the look of the similar cases without the card slot so I figured it wouldn't hurt to have it and not use it.
To answer your question...
Getting a card in is not too bad. I'm able to slide my check card in stripe/top first numbers facing towards me. It slides in without too much trouble.
Getting it out is not quite as easy. Someone with fatter fingers or no fingernails would probably struggle with it. (on second test... My long thumbnail might actually be making it harder to get a grip on the card.)
Definitely only room for 1 card in there. I tried to get my driver's license in after I put the check card in and no way that's going to happen.
