LG Pad 8.3 Google Play Edition Rom - G Pad 8.3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys! I just bought a GPad and im very happy with it, but i didnt like the LG Rom, so i flashed the CM11 M4. Even the CM11 is very good, is not that stable, having problems with lag. Im here to ask how i flash the Google Play Edition Rom, because i really want a rom without lag .
Thanks & cheers!
Sent from my iPhone 4S using Tapatalk

We can't flash the gpe rom as yet. At least you can but there is no wifi. There are a couple of Threads about it on these forums.
I'm surprised you have lag on cm11 as I don't recall encountering lag when I was on it (I was on it for about two months)
I'm currently on Infecteds cm11 which I'm really liking. So you can either try that or one of the others. Mahdi is also very stable.

most stable rom out there for g2

i've recently sold my g2 to my brother and i want to flash the most stable rom, i dont need ics or crazy overclock, i just want a rom that doesnt reboot or turns off by itself.
So many to pick from.... I tend to go back to elite mod the most. Everyone will give you a different answer so your best picking a few to try out. As you'll see the next few posts here will be other roms

CM7 roms are very good without overclock.
I only miss the camera quality of sense , but for another features CM7 rom's are ok.
Cyanogen Stable 7.1 OR you can use one of the stock OTA roms. Those are quite good.
I was using miui and g-lite and those turn off like once a week.
I guess ill try the ones u guys recommend

v sense and g lite are good stock roms. Elite and ilwt are best cm based.

I'm currently using glite 2.0.1 and its my favorite rom so far. I also tried gslim1.6 good aswell, and if you want just stock get the 2.3.4 stock rooted rom. I have not had any issues with the phone restarting on glite 2.0.1.Here is a link for the G2 rom index thread, it lists all avaliable G2 roms.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1493365

Post your custom ROM experiences

With the unlocked bootloader and rom development I figured this would be a good time for people to post their own experiences and preferences thus far with what they have tried. Be as detailed or as vague as you want and maybe we can help some folks make up their own minds.
For me, I have tried 2 somewhat extensively. CM 10.1 and AOKP.
- CM 10.1 - For me, it was exactly what people have been saying. It's basically stock 4.2.2. I didn't give it enough time to experience it's battery life. It seemed stable, but for all of the "trouble" I went to (I'm not very technology savvy), I felt like I wanted to get a little more out of a custom rom.
- AOKP - After short tests of Carbon and PAC, I hopped over to AOKP. Super customizable. I love to nitpick over settings on my phone anyway, so this played right into my preferences. It's very quick. Didn't feel any different from CM 10.1 as that was quick too. But both are snappier than stock. Battery life seems either the same or better than stock. I am just really enjoying this rom. Haven't run into any real serious issues. Although I will recommend that you go into developer settings and disable HW overlays. This will assist in better Web scrolling more smoothly for whatever reason. The only other minor issue I've seen relates to when the phone is booting up, for a quick moment you'll see a fuzz screen for maybe a third of a second. Nothing major, but would like to see it hopefully ironed out at some point.
- Carbon & PAC - Will consider giving them some good time in the future if I ever start feeling adventurous.
Overall it's nice being able to really do what I want with my M with root, an unlocked bootloader, and a custom ROM. After all, android is about options, isn't it?

Currently I'm loving Carbon. Tried PacMan as well but I found Carbon to be better for stability.

I'm hearing good things about Carbon! I may just give that a shot next when I'm feeling adventurous.

I've seen some posts from you before, are you still running stock? If so do a nan droid back up of your stock to an external SD card first. Never know when you might need it For example, I used it to fix GPS issues with Carbon.

I only truly have the experience enough to compare it to CM. But yeah I love it. Posted my full review above, but generally I am very pleased with how it's working. I'd be willing to try others, but with my brief experience, it suited my tastes best.

I actually prefer Stock over all the custom ROMs. Seems that I run into stability issues with everything else. I liked Eclipse, and I'm running CM 10.1 right now. As for all the others, I've tried and dismissed them all, mostly due to too many fcs.

Hi all, first post in xda forum! Just rooted my phone last week and immediately started flashing ROMs. I found that most of the ones I used had issues like camera not working and wasn't able to transfer all of my contacts for some reason. Never the less I really liked elemental x which is developed by the same person who developed eclipse I believe. I really enjoyed the aesthetics it offered especially changing the color of the navbar which unfortunately I couldn't find without using a ROM. So I decided to go and get the version he was working on before which is Eclipse. installed it today loving it so far. camera works fine but still don't have all my old contacts. Hope that wasn't too long, feel free to comment.

Have you tried fixing permissions to reduce force closes?

Sync your contacts with Goggle and you should always be able to restore them.
As for ROMs, I'm on Slim and I've been on it for a while. I ran AOKP for about 2 weeks and it had the best battery life out of any of the AOSP ROMs. However, I like the custom options of Slim and I'm using Marxman's port of it.
Sent from my Droid RAZR M using xda app-developers app
Thank you for your response is the advice on syncing to Google was very helpful. have all my contacts again. as for the camera I don't believe it was permissions issue and can't remember if I tried fixing the permissions. I might install the ROM again just check. The camera wasn't force closing it was just blank when it came up. Also I get keyboard errors when trying to use other ROMs. Has anyone else gotten that?

I agree that most roms are more unstable than stock.
I am waiting for miui to become stable. It has the first readable status bar that I know of. Anyone care to enlighten me about roms that have "white on black" options?
I would like to find a stock, deodexed, initd'ed & like the DST at Rzr but its not deodexed.

Orion AOKP is my fav (mostly due to battery life), so I'm sticking with that until Key Lime Pie comes out. In my experience, Orion AOKP is essentially just like the unofficial AOKP, but with battery saving and script tweaks.

Unlocked my bootloader and flashed my first ROM last night. I gotta say, carbon is DOPE. I've had ZERO major problems and it's extremely fast and battery life slightly better than stock. And the customization options are crraaazzyyyy.
Definitely worth it

I've tried both Pac and Carbon. Pac had more options, Carbon seemed snappier but with more fc's. I threw Liquid smooth when it showed up on goo a few weeks ago and I have settled down with it. It has been fast and very stable.

A stock based custom de-bloated always runs better and has better battery life.
Hence why I prefer stock based custom ROMS over Mpost CM based roms,,
And hey I care.

I used to have this exact same issue. I love G2 Apps ROM, and think that stock ROMs are fantastic sleepers but under extreme usage they seem to fall short for me. I have flashed almost every ROM for our phone and have found that cm-11-20131130-UNOFFICIAL-e980.zip has given me the best battery life I have ever experienced. I have been getting 6 hours of screen on time (facebook, games, youtube, maps, calls, sms, browsing) over a 24 hour period. I have since flashed BS Harmony and it is looking to be very good also. If you don't believe me then try the exact CM file I listed. It is seriously the best under load and deep sleeping.

[ROM]AOKP KitKat 4.4.2 nightly is avaliable

Xmas surprise from AOKP team, hooray :good:
It seems to be smaller than their JB nightlies. I wonder if it's just a stock KK ROM or if most AOKP features are really included.
Any opinions on it? Is it any stable?
So far on CM11 nightlies and must say they work great (besides camera issues).

Have not found big issue since using this AOKP nightly except
1,Google play first run stuck
2,Installing apk seems using more time than other roms basically
I'm now using this rom as daily use. I use gapps from @PlayfulGod and fancy kernel r44 ext version, btw, video play back looks better than CM kernel imo

very nice website jeje

I've tried all the KK ROMs for the GNex, and this is BY FAR the most stable out of all of them. Others are plagued with random reboots, graphic glitches, and 4G issues. AOKP has none of those! Its actually a relief to not have a single issue in 5 days. I forgot that a GNex could actually be stable. Plus, they have active devs working on issues. Now I don't need to upgrade my phone for awhile.

I had no reboots with the CM nightlys and its stabile and fast! I tried aokp today, it's not bad , but i went back to CM.

Xposed on V510?

I've searched and searched both here and the web in general, and cannot find for sure if there is Xposed for the GPe G pad (V510). I'm trying to decide which version to buy and it seems as though my choices are the V500 and have AOSP ROMs with some bugs, or the V510 and have limited support/features. Xposed on the V510 could make the difference.

Yep! Works real well on the 510. 510 is gaining features every day.
So get the V510, flash your kernel, install exposed, and it's who needs ROMs? Thanks.
