Several months ago I loaded up a CM based rom and found out when talking to people on the phone, they couldn't hear me. It was fine when using the headset cable and possibly Bluetooth.
I've looked all over CMs website but I can't find whether it's still an active bug or if it's fixed.
Does anyone know if this is fixed?

Good question. I dont know either.

I believe u have to add or replace this in your build.prop
persist.audio.handset.mic.type=digital --> replace digital with analog
persist.audio.dualmic.config=endfire -- replace endfire with false
Since i changed it i haven't had any complaints so far but flashing to new nightly makes it revert again, keep that in mind.

I'm running the latest nightlies and it is still an issue. I'm usually using speaker or a headset. Going to try the build.prop edit above. Aside from that, I've been pretty happy how CM is running.
Update: the build.prop edits fix the in call mic problem. Big thanks JustinNL, this was a headache for me!

Hey all as the title suggests I'm on cm9 7/9 nightly. I've been playing with DSPManager for a while now (on other builds as well) and have yet to come up with any positive results. None of the settings in DSPManager have any effect at all. Is there some sort of prerequisite to using it? Any help at all is appreciated.

You aren't alone, because I too can't get DSP Manager to work. However, I can't get ANY apps that adjust the DSP settings to work on CM9. I personally have used AudioFX for quite some time on Gingerbread on my Galaxy S II LTE (called the Skyrocket on AT&T) and it worked fine on the OFFICIAL release of ICS from Rogers. However, it doesn't work on CM9. So the problem doesn't appear to be DSP Manager itself, but rather something in CM9.

How about the lack of kernel support at this time More than one thread on this, I read on yesterday. Though last time anyone really wasted their breath on the issue was around Alpha 3.

Figured it had something to do with cm9. The kernel not being supported makes sense. Should be rectified in the next couple days.

Tried it. Doesn't activate dsp manager. And what it does do I can replicate better with PowerAMP. And it doesn't affect in-call volume at all, which is what I was going for.
I just got volume+ from the developers website (full version for free) and it mostly works. There's a few ics bugs that they have to work out, but it does bump up the volume so I'm happy.

Has anyone else CONFIRMED that 3rd-party DSP apps (I gave the example of AudioFX, but you can try others) don't work on CM9 on the Skyrocket? So far I've not heard from anyone else providing collaboration of my observations. If you have an i727 or i727r running CM9 (or any other phone for that matter, seeing as this isn't even a Skyrocket thread), could you please install a 3rd-party DSP app and let me know if it works on your phone. Thanks in advance.

As said in my previous post, volume+ works mostly on cm9. It has a few glitches here and there, but it does increase the volume. I haven't had a chance to fully test it so I don't know what all is or isn't working.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk
I believe the volume increase provided by Volume+ has nothing to do with the DSP chip. You need to test this on equalization, bass boost, etc. These are features provided by that chip.

Tested. EQ and volume control work for the speaker. Bass boost and echo/delay don't have any effect. Nothing works for bluetooth or headset. Oh, you can also change how many steps in the in-call volume. No volume boost though. For all this it would be better and easier just to use Poweramp. It works better.
The problem is I need equalization for all of my audio applications. This means that I need an equalizer that works generically rather than one that is built into a specific app. Virtually all of my music is played from Slacker Radio or TuneIn Radio, neither of which have built-in equalization.

Found a DSP fix for Motorola ATRIX 4G...
I play music via Bluetooth into car audio system and loved DSP in CM7.....I replaced joersaxx 1.3 faux kernel to stock 1.0....I found this link
and it worked like a charm!!! The first thing I noticed was it worked like in CM7 when the first menu was selection of output rather than straight to menu....I am going to try flashing a 1.3 kernel to see if it still works....
Thank you Yasir Idrees! I tried to post link....but I'm a noob!!! Go in to setting in /system/apps and set as per thumbnail.
Has anyone else noticed this? I've tried LiquidSmooth RC8, the latests Paranoid Android, and the newest SlimROM. They all must be based off the same ROM, because audio quality is equally horrendous. I notice that in the Settings > Sound that there is an option to select between MusicFX and DSPManager. However, none of these applications seem to have any affect over the audio, whatsoever. I am surprised that the BASE audio wouldn't be the same as every other ROM. Shouldn't these EQ/DSP add-ons just allow you to modify the stock flat-EQ? Most people would probably want a flat EQ anyways, because their audio ends up on the car stereo, or some other device that already has these controls.
With that said, are you guys noticing the same thing? I absolutely cannot get Pandora or Spotify (haven't tried any others because I don't care,) on these new ROMs. I hope this isn't what the latest CM10 offers, because I am about to flash to that now.
Oh man, I just loaded up the latest CM10 stable and it has the same problem... At least DSPManager can modify the EQ for the entire system, not app-specific. Even still, it sounds nowhere near as good as it did before. While I'm flashing my phone I am playing feeding the same Beacon "The Phoenix" audio cube on my desk with my Transformer TF300T and it is shaking the whole surface with bass, and sounds very full. I played with all the EQ settings, and went manual and got nothing remotely close using my S3 with these ROMs.
Just restored my CM10 11/7/2012 nightly and it has flawless audio over bluetooth--but other issues like missed calls, etc
You silly op you.that's backwards dspmgr is simply part of the general aosp experience and all aosp roms recently developed that bug
Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
I dug through quite a view AOSP-based ROM threads and could not find anything. I don't understand how anyone could possibly use these ROMs with that horrifying bug?
Freeze or uninstall DSPmanager then install a new audio engine (I use team AC!D's), problem solved.
EDIT: I've never had that happen before but I always freeze that app and I've been using AC!D audio mod since the beta for this phone.

Is this supposed to be a 'feature?' If so? They should remove DSPManager and let us decide. I would always prefer some flat EQ so that I can process it elsewhere.

So I took DSP manager off and no dice. I'm wondering if I might HAVE to root it and put on a new ROM and maybe put Awesome Beats on the phone in order to get the results I want.
I think this is something that can be modified with the kernel. I remember on the galaxy nexus there were a few Franco nightlies he was testing that had in call volume issues. Some were too low some were crackely. If he was able to modify something within his kernel to effect call volume then I'm sure it can be tweaked to a higher volume.

Is anyone having a problem with an inline mic not working at all on their GSIII?
Ever since approx CM 10.1 beta 4 the mic on a couple pairs of headphone no longer works. The mic no longer receives sound during calls and pushing the single button has no effect in music players like it used to. Headphone ear buds still play sound just fine.
I updated to the most recent nightly and problem still persists.
I'm just not 100% sure it its a problem with the ROM or if coincidentally for some reason my headphone jack has failed and is no longer receiving mic signals.
Anyone else having this problem or know a fix for it?

I've had lots of random issues in the past where Poweramp wouldn't respond to the buttons on the earbuds (never used one with a mic). Would work fine for a while, then stop. Poweramp is almost never updated. So that has to be a CM problem.
Also, Tasker was no longer reading my notifications to me while my earbuds where plugged in. Worked fine for months on every nightly up to a certain point. No longer works. I think headset plugged isn't being registered within the OS anymore.
My money is on CM bug.
Weird definitely. I figured there being no talk of it it wasn't an issue, only person to ask this lol... Hopefully it is a bug within cm only though. Someone pull system/usr/keychars|key layout/general file and compare them, I fixed this issue with LiquidSmooth 2.2 release which in turn fixed Carbon's exact issue. Maybe they changed something and/broke something.

Yes compare the "general" in system/usr/keylayout & keychars... I just put them side by side in notepad and scroll and check to see I'd they're different in any way at all. Better yet you can just push them, remove the current ones and replace them with new ones and then reboot.... That's how I fixed the issue with Liquid a while back surprisingly lol.

Well the news is in.
Running stock Touchwiz rom the inline mic worked perfectly with calls and controlling music.
But back on CM 10.1 latest nightly and it no longer works again.
on a side note I'm pretty pissed. Some how between the odin flashing of stock and cwm flash of CM 10.1 half the **** on my sd card including my titaniumbackups and my nandroid backs up are no where to be found. My music and several other old app folders are still on the card but not the actual important stuff I needed to restore. Whats weird is my SD card still shows the same amount of data on the card but I can't find any of it anywhere.

That's a well known issue with custom roms for opgpro. That usually happens if the custom rom you've installed is intended for a different model (i.e., using a rom for e980 on F240x model).
If you're on T-Mobile, there's an audio fix.zip that keeps popping up. I dig the name BTW

I make sure to never install ROMs for anything besides the E980 (which is the model I have). I've browsed the Carbon release thread for the ROM, and it doesn't seem to be an issue for anyone else. I was wondering if there are configs or files I can transfer over from PAC-ROM 4.3 that would fix the issue (I do not experience the audio problem with PAC)? Also to be noted, I'm running on AT&T service, not T Mobile (there seems to be a somewhat similar issue with the T Mobile OG Pro's, but the fix doesn't apply to my device).

Thanks, my name is actually an album title by Insect Warfare. And I don't have this issue with all 4.3 ROMs, only a few. Others are fine. The only reason I avoid 4.4 is because of the major lack of customization features. It kinda sucks for me cause I don't use PIE or Halo, and I figure porting those over to 4.4 is taking the spotlight. I'm a sucker for color customization and all of the tiny little tweaks, which will probably get ported last, hah.
garbled voice with 4.4 ROMs on T-mobile
I have the same issue on T-mobile. Using any 4.4 ROM results in my voice fading in and out during the call. ROMS based on stock work fine.
I have tried the kitkat in-call audio fix, and it does not help.
I think the problem is due to the noise cancelling microphone on top of the phone. If I cover up the small hole at the top with my finger during a call, the voice quality gets a little better, but still very faint.
Anyone know how to disable the top microphone?
