Sooo my Tablet just took a tumble and i busted the screen, its pretty much cracked all the way across the screen in multiple places now. There are some guides online for the 7 inch but apparently the 8 inch is completely screwed since the glass is glued completely to the LCD. Can anyone help me out here? I'd appreciate it a ton.
A friend of mine had the same problem and he coudlnt do anything, sorry...
There are a lot of information online on how to fix screens depending on which tablet you have. You could check out ifix.com or YouTube search your situation to get video tutorials. What kind of tablet do you have?

Thinking of fixing my evo but not sure how much it would cost. I've never looked at this stuff so idk what's needed. Any gurus that have repaired their evos many times wanna chime in? Cracked screen and it has some purple stuff almost all over the screen

Looks pretty rough.
When the touchscreen goes out its the digitizer.
When purple stuff like that appears its the LCD screen.
If the LCD screen is shot 99% of the time the digitizer is shot too since it sits over the LCD screen.
What I would do is buy a complete LCD, digitizer, disassembly screwdriver kit off eBay or Amazon. They go for around 30 bucks.
Here is a good XDA tutorial

Good luck and thanks for the new port.
Isn't there 2 different types of screen? Like the older Hw evos used a different screen

I believe there is 3 manufacturers but 2 different kinds of ribbon connectors.
The last post of this thread has a good tip for determining which LCD you have without taking apart the phone.

Dropped face down about 18 inches, lol.
and pop..
the screen is all cracked yet everything works just fine.. I was looking on ebay and saw a few replacement screens, they even come with the tools.
How easy is this to do? (Im very handy)
Also, I assume the glass I'm getting on ebay is some third party glass? And not gorilla glass then?
here is a link of one I'm looking at,

If there is a better one, please help, thanks

I struggled with this decision myself. I have a minor crack and some small scratches in my display so I looked into this a few months ago. It looks pretty invasive and harder to do than it should be, IMHO.
Not trying to discourage you, there are some good YouTube vids out there that will give you an Idea of what's involved. Take a look for yourself.
If you do decide to go ahead please and try take some notes and pics along the way and post them with your results. Good or bad.
I still think about doing it every so often but need my phone and until it cracks further what I have is better than nothing should things decide to go south during the removal and installation process.
I wish you luck! :good:
I've done a few of my own phones as long as your patient and have the right tools you can do it.... patients lol biggest thing. And youtube

It's really hard dude. The glass is like "super glued" to the screen around the edges. It's not like the I phones where they used double sided tape...no, this is almost a unibody screen and digitizer. You'd burn the screen with a heat gun before being able to separate it from the digitizer =\

Hi all,
Unfortunately yesterday I cracked the glass on my Note 2 after dropping it from a height of a feet (So much for the Gorilla Glass 2)
Anyway, whats done is done and I now have big 2 inch long crack on the glass. The display & touch is fine and working well though.
What I wanted to ask you guys is if you know of a way to replace just the glass? Or would I have to go in and get the whole display unit replaced? I have a spare display unit from a friends Note 2(He cracked the display but his glass was fine). Is there some way to use the glass from that unit?
Any suggestions would be welcome.
Happened to me once. The glass was broken and some stripped off color on the sides. I bought glass only and the housing on ebay (shipped from hong kong), but it looked good and nice quality like original. I took time to learn from watching YouTube and replaced them. Now it looks like new. You can try, it is not impossible

I do it often
I do it all the time. in fact I buy lcd assemblies with broken glass allot on ebay and refurbish. Many people watch a youtube video and think they can do it without an issue. some succeed and most end up cracking their lcd in the process. I did on my first time.
I think what I learned after doing many was patience patience patience.......and heating the broken glass to the right temperature to soften the loca. private message me if you want additional suggestions. Hope this helps. Lance

Okay so I saw some of the videos on YouTube. It seems to be delicate work and I'm not sure someone as clumsy and impatient as me should undertake this task as possibly damage the LCD as well.
Does anybody know of someone/some repair shop who can do this well in India? Preferably in Hyderabad?
you can send it to me. the only problem is that I am in Florida.

That's not an "only" problem Sending you the phone, the cost of the spare glass & service charges would cost way more than getting the whole display unit replaced!
Thanks for the offer though.. I'll try to find someone locally.

I dropped my tablet the other day and the screen cracked. Fortunately it didn't affect the "digitizer" (I think it's called). The whole screen still works. No dark spots and the touch screen still works even where it's cracked.
My question is, dies anybody know a reputable place that fixes this? Or, if I can do it myself, what's a good site where I can buy new glass?
Thanks everyone.
P.S. I just got off the phone with Samsung Parts and they wanted $268.78 for the screen!! That's about more than half the price of buying a brand new one! Or a newer model at that! Hopefully someone out there has a cheaper solution to this. Thanks.

here is 1 for cheaper, you can just look around before you buy one.your probably better off replacing the screen and digitizer cause its hard to take the the glue off, unless you know how to do it.There are also places that fix cracked screens so i would look around your area.
Here are 2 places that sell screens.

I'm helping a friend out with her Sprint Note 2. She left it in her car during a hot day and said afterwords the screen was black. She said she could still see the screen, but then dropped the phone. She said it wasn't a high fall/drop and it didn't see hard, but there is one hairline crack in the screen. But now the screen doesn't come on at all. She still gets calls and notifications, but can't see anything. She can even answer a call by swiping her screen when it rings. My question: Does she need a new screen? I was thinking about opening it up to see if anything is loose. Would that be possible? I had a similar issue with my old At&t note, but I know that I dropped it hard and it had a few major cracks. I also know this probably sounds like a noob question too, but I'm hoping I can help her out with it.
Thanks for any help. Much appreciated!
Well I am pretty sure you need to replace the lcd. Hot is very bad when it coms to lcd displays. I would suggest getting the full replacement with lcd and digitizer unless you have done this a few times. It is very easy to break the digitizer while separating the two. Check ebay and you should be able to find what you need. If you are unsure that the item is what you need post a link to it and i will check it for you.

Thanks. That's what I thought. I'm familiar with the piece because I was looking for a screen assembly for my At&t Note 2 last year. You've confirmed my thoughts. Thanks!
