If you are not rooted you will need to have the screen locked, in the beginning I was using the pattern lock. Right now I have a custom ROM (CM11) with root and have installed the "Moto Floating Charge" (needs root). That way I don't need the pattern lock. You can find more information about the Moto Floating Charge here.

Based on this xda topic, I decided to do the same.Unfortunately, that thing hanging out of the phone and the cancellation of the micro usb port was not a good option for me. So I decided to try to put the adapter inside the phone.
The adapter:

First we need to remove the 14 torx screws on the back of the phone.
If you need some help, just see this disassemble video until minute 2:20, including the part of disconnecting the battery!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fd3AZSXhOf8
First I looked in to the micro usb adapter to see what contact's was using, in this case (I don't know if they are all the same) it was the 2 in the edges.
I opened the adapter (It's just some sticky paper) and found out the main 2 spot's (+5v and ground) and a third spot that says 5v +1. Have not used it but it's there.
Green - 5v +1 (not used)
Blue - Ground
Red - 5V
I then connected the adapter to the phone and made a continuity test with the*multimeter and found the 5v spot and a lot of ground spots has normal.
The installation:
First I removed the connector and installed 2 wires.
Then put it in the right place using a double sided sticker (included).
Then solder the 5V:
Then the ground and it's all done:
Now just install the back cover, and put the screws back on. You wont*even notice it's there.
If you need some help, just ask.
Here it is in action:

That will do. The "problem" with that model is being all in plastic so it is slippery. Mine is the "Qi K8" model and the center is a kind of "rubbered" material. Just confirm the output, mine is 5V 700 - 1000 mA.
Sweet!
That's awesome! Good work! I just might have to do this. Anyway, I have a question. Do you think it would cause a problem if you had the USB cable plugged in AND it sitting on the charger? Not that I'm ever going to do that, but just curious.
Good work finding alternative soldering points. The micro usb connectors are so tiny
Time to get the screwdriver out
Just like i did in the other thread, that's a great mod you've done mate.

Connecting the USB cable will work has it should and the wireless charging will not interfere in the data transfer or the charging (since is already charging).

you need a QI Wireless charger. It's a pad which you put your phone onto and will send "waves" to the receiver you've just plugged/soldered.

It looks like mine but mine is 600mA, that must charge faster with a 1000mA charger. It's a QI just like mine, go for it. :good:

Others photos have been made with Gnex's with flash:
I've been using regular boards pins : used some scissors to reduce their width (did that randomly until it was fitting inside the lego bricks).
Then used a hammer to make two holes on top of a lego brick, evaluated where holes have to be only with eyes. First brick was a fail and gap between pins was too wide, 2nd try was good.
Linked the 2 wires from a wall charger to the pins (need to attach 'em more seriously (with some duct tape) as it's only wrapped around atm).
Then tested and it's charging instantly... (info on phone show that it's "usb charging")
Will probably add some floor so it'll maintains pins in position even if I move around the dock
Yay ;-)
He he, cool :-D
WIN!!

Very nice idea, and great work on it!
Nice work, if only it enabled dock mode.
You said you were going to do it. Looks great. My question is: why does using the pogo pins charge at USB rates? Not a deal breaker for me but I would have expected AC charging mode. Any ideas?

It seems you always get usb charging if u use the pogo pins, so no choice about that.
For the desk mode, well night clock (free app) can turn the phone automatically into a clock when charged and support landscape view... imho it's still pretty limited.
But I guess this lego dock can sit on the desk at my office to get some juice during day (+ that will make coworkers talk).
Anyway I'll probably get a desktop official dock whenever they are out (I'm not 100% sure if my dock is risk-free (use of board pins, use of a wall charger for pogo pins) : any input on risks will be welcome ;p

My mistake. I thought it was you in another thread that said they were going to make a dock out out of Legos.
As for the pogos only charging at USB rates, that seems a little short sighted on Samsung's part. There are numerous threads on here about using navigation/LTE on USB charging and the charger can't keep up. Maybe that's why Verizon's car dock does not have pogo pins and opts for the USB connection.

So, I have a Xoom´s dock. I dont know anything about pogo pins, execpt they have it.

Usually there is few pins/cables on the battery because some pins are used for data (electronics inside battery) and other pins usually connect to different battery banks. I wonder if you can figure out where the + and - are, but I'm no expert. I imagine there would be like one - and few +, one for each battery bank/module inside of that battery.
Or it might be that battery only has one + and one -, the other pins would be data.
Maybe use a volt meter to find where the voltage is?
Or am I talking nonsense?

With both my pc's I kept getting the usual USB connected/discon windows sound while it was plugged in to phone.. USB2 & 3... It did light up but very dim... My Z77 motherboard has the extra juice that charge iPads but lights were still dim... And the disconnects got annoying
If I plug it into the official phone charger it's brighter but not anywhere near the video brightness
Also seems tobe 1 speed no matter what % battery is at... I gave up so didn't see if stopped when battery was full charged

I just found out it's a 0.5A charger so it might really be not enough juice to trigger faster/slower animation but the problem remains even if I connect it to my PC which should deliver more than enough juice especially on the ports which are directly connected to the Mainboard.
Although I have to mention that I'm using this cable to charge my S2, I don't have an S3 yet, but I think this shouldn't make much of a difference to the described issue.

Glad I'm not the only one with this issue, wonder if other people also face the same situation.
Would be nice if other people could also post their experience about the EZOPower cable
If it's just a .5A charger like the above guy said, its just a simple matter of swapping out some resistors inside one end of the cable.
I ordered the white EZO cable, I'll be able to comment in a few days when mine comes in.
Recently bought this adapter from amazon, a mfg named +pwr. It makes your lower power (computer and non samsung ac adapter) usb ports look like full power ports. Using it removes the red X from the charging icon and also allows the device to draw the max power available on the port - it's not going to magically make a 1 amp usb port draw 2 amps - but it will allow the device to draw max instead of a lower rate due to low power charging mode.
I've tested this on my PC, in my car and on an older Samsung ac adapter.
Well worth the 5 bucks I'd say. I'm planning to get one for each of my charge points and leave them installed.

Just be careful. There are adapters out there that were of an older design, primarily for the issue with iOS devices. Those won't work (you'll still see the red x). The one from Amazon works (I've tested it) but I can't comment on others. I'd suggest making sure that it at least explicitly states newer Samsung devices to be safe.
I don't suppose anyone knows of anyone in the UK doing these ? They are quoting 6-8 weeks for delivery to UK.
I've done a quick search, but am wary of knock-offs as OP rightly warned about. Would like to get something like this that people have tried and tested, but would prefer not to have to wait 2 months to get it !

Not quite the same as this fits on the other end, but if you have a micro USB cable it works perfectly. Tried and tested on a standard USB charger, PC and laptop. Arrived in two days.

There's some resistors between the VBus+/GND and the shorted D+/D- lines that Samsung uses to make their chargers proprietary. See here.
Using this adapter - would it be possible to connect a portable HDD to the Note 10.1, without the use of a powered USB hub?

No, in fact this adapter eliminates all USB data connections.

Hi there,
is there a possibility to charge the S4 mini via a wireless induction-kit like the S4 has one?
My research did not find any related products to the mini, just for his big brother
If so, could you tell me where I can get one in Europe?
Thanks in advance
+1 I'm also interested in it very much ^^
sorry not lauched...yet, we have to wait abit longer
I don't think we'll see this on the mini as there are no connection points like on the S4 and S3. Unless they are hidden under the inner cover somewhere.
Here http://mobileandphone.com/samsung-galaxy-s4-mini-vs-galaxy-s4-comparison/ is writed that both phones have integrated QI chargers:
The S4 and S4 mini have a removable battery and microSD card slot and native Qi wireless charging without the need for a dedicated cover.

Is this fake?
And maybe this http://www.aliexpress.com/item/HOT-...r-Galaxy-S3-III-i9300-Mini-Qi/1026431226.html QI charging receiver from Galaxy S3 Mini will be compartible with GT-I9190, I9192, I9195?
The dimensions for the S3 mini and s4 mini are different though

I have found and order this variant: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Qi-wireless...S_Cell_Phone_PDA_Chargers&hash=item2eca5c000c
It works via connecting to microusb port and placing under back panel.
It is suitable via dimensions, and I hope it will work normally

I received one of these last week and it works great. It seems to charge pretty quick but galaxy charge current monitor says its only charging at 260ma. It seems a lot quicker than the S3 charging with the palm wireless charger which showed 500ma on GCC.
The base unit is also a lot less fussy over positioning than the palm was and it works ok through the igard case.
One downside is the nfc only just works now,and is very fussy over positioning and is slow to react.

The back cover fits fine you can't tell the qi is fitted. It's much thinner than the palm one I had in my S3 which gave bumps on the back cover.

No the SD card slot is behind the battery so isn't affected by the coil.

It plugs into the usb slot but that in itself can be a pain. If you find yourself needing to use a normal usb charger you must first remove any case, then remove the back cover and then remove the charging coil and then reassemble it.
I might look into hooking into the other side of the usb socket when I get time, though I suspect it will probably involve disassembly and soldering something permanently in place.
