S4 GT9192 Dual - freezing problem - Galaxy S 4 Mini Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I bought a couple of months ago this model (GT-9192 Dual sim) for my wife.
Didn't update the firmware (doesn't have knox words in the bootloader) and just rooted it for her.
At first, it worked flawlessly - quick, responsive and smooth.
Not so log ago it started to freeze without any visible reason. After an about 8-14 hours it just freeze but the time can variable.
Only long power button pressing and reboot because of this helps.
So, to summarize... occasional freezing problem. When it freezes, the screen doesn't go ON.
Anyone can suggest something ?
I want to wipe the phone and maybe reflash original rom and root it again.
What is the best way to do this ?
Thank you for helping
Lior

Just download the firmware for your region from Samsung-updates.com and flash using Odin. You should be in stock after that.

I think you're running out of ram

And how can I check this? There is a logging app for this?

problems with force closing apps

i started getting this message 3 weeks ago. it just started out of nowhere. whenever i started my phone i got all my apps force closing. now it seems to be happening to me every time i restart or turn off my phone. i did have a nandroid backup from 1 month ago but it also gets the force closing error after it restarts.
i have tried fixing permissions from CMW but this dows nothing. i tried a few other apps to try fix them (appextract, rom manager) but non of these helped.
i have a samsung galaxy ace 2 (XXLD8) on three IE network. its running android 2.3.6. rooted with CMW.
the only other option i have left would be to flash the firmware back onto the device but would anyone have an option that i could try before i do that?
thanks

Did this all happen after flashing root access?? Maybe you used bad root file??
Did you flash stock rom through odin
If you flash stock rom(odin) without wipe data, cahe and dalvik, force closes will occur.

no this was the stock rom i got with the phone ie. lik ive never flashed a new rom to it. i used a root method on this to flash it: this one. but i rooted it about 7 months ago its just randomly happening :L. but one of the last apps i installed onto it i remember was this sd booster. i remember it seemed a bit strange and dodgy but i still used it. that wouldnt have anyting got to do with it by any chance?

SD booster app is the culprit behind this. This app have caused may devices to malfunction and sd cards to burn.
Setting -->manage app-->choose the app & clear data

[Q] note 10.1 2014 bootloop

Ok I am REALLY frustrated. Yesterday my note was working fine and I shut it off like normal. Then the next day, when I went to turn it on, it kept saying the samsung logo over and over again. It then goes to the lockscreen and immediatly boots back to the sammy screen. Another weird thing is that it takes FOREVER to boot to the lockscreen before rebooting again. If i pull the pen out or touch the screen during that time, it vibrates like it should be on the lockscreen.Sometimes, the samsung logo will flicker and rotate sideways for a half a second and go back. Ive tried restoring my backups but it didnt fix it. Sometimes, it wont reboot and will work so idk what the problem is. I didn't do anything that would make it bootloop like this. Ive tried reflashing stock kernel and ive restored the boot but nothing. Im running cleanrom 1.2. Is that maybe a bug in the rom? I know I should probably update to the newest version but I havent felt like it. I REALLY need some guidance here. Thanks
I'm still unrooted on my p605 and I've had this happen as well, without the logo flicker and rotate. It righted itself after 5 - 10 loops all way to lock screen.

I think you should just start over and do fresh install of CleanROM . the 2.0 one. With my experience I usually make a backup with twrp before I do anything for situations like your in. If you had a twrp backup you can just restore that and you would be good to go. I've learned to take a few extra minutes to make a twrp backup. Sometimes stuff just goes wrong. You can always flash stock firmware with Odin, then do a fresh install of CleanROM 2.0.If you search around forum you can find stock firmware.
That's just my opinion.
I have multiple back ups but when I restored them it still did it. I ended up factory resetting then using titanium to get my stuff back and it works like normal now.

I had the same issue running stock and twrp. I used odin to install the latest version of twrp - from there I loaded a user-compiled kernel - cleared the cache and it worked.
That didn't work for me sadly. But factory reset did so I'm good now

Still unrooted, did a factory reset, restored by Samsung account & Google account, still bootlooping. Seems to be taking longer to break out of it. Anyone got any ideas or solutions?

Contemplating the 4th factory reset in 2 days, as bootlooping has become never ending. It stops for a while with a factory reset, but by the time I've downloaded everything again it's back. It use to stop eventually but not any more. Does anyone know a way to stop this or at least what's causing it?

I had the same issue. To solve it, I went into the advanced Wi-Fi settings and unchecked "Always Allow Scanning". I have not had a boot loop since then.

Thanks Casimi, that worked perfectly. Just wish I had known about this 4 days ago, before I started doing factory resets. Anyway all fixed now. Again many thanks for the help.

I had the same problem with my SM-P605. I took out the MicroSD card and the Note booted up. Now the wifi "Scanning always available" is also unchecked.
Did a reboot and it was fine.
I hope it lasts.

Random reboots after update

So I installed the latest update for my T520 10.1 (which just added the kids mode) and now my tablet does random reboots all the time. Probably at least once an hour. I am running stock rom with root. I did have the cybertronic kernel installed and thought maybe it was causing the reboots. So I Odin'd back to stock, and am still having reboots. Anyone else experiencing this? (I did clear cache and factory reset)
hi,
I have exactly the same problem after the updates T520XXUANF4 (with last CF-Auto-Root)
Ditto after a factory reset ...
return to T520XXUAND1

I think reboots are kernel security related as my note pro 12.2 was rebooting several times a day after root and removing Knox, now I'm re rooted with Knox and no reboots in over 24 hours.

So I had frozen all the knox files with titanium backup. I went in and unfroze them a couple hours ago. No reboots since. Crossing my fingers that it works.
edit: still lots of reboots, so I chose to go with a custom rom.

Same here on the reboots! My device is no longer rooted after the previous update, which worked great. Only MagazineWidget, WatchOn and Screen Saver are turned off. Since I wasn't planning to root again I can't use Titanium Backup, but I'm assuming that whatever I froze there would show up in Application Manager in the "Turned Off' tab? The Knox application still shows the "download" icon b/c I never installed it.
I checked the Sammobile site, but it looks like it doesn't show U.S. firmware. Anyone know how I can get back to the previous update?
i am running stock which is not my normal staus but have never had a reboot on latest update or previous versions. just wanted to throw that out there.
have reload T520XXUANF4 and it's ok if you answered no to supersu when he wants to disable knox
no reboot after 24 hour

ps ; who speaks better English than me to explain the problem to Chainfire?

From my reading, I think you can use the firmware for Cellular South on sammobile. Or you can use the one from this link and follow his directions. The firmware is for France, but gives you the option for English language. I have used it several times myself.

Also having random reboots after latest update. I was able to root using the same Chainfire file as I did with the previous firmware.

So after using a custom rom for a few days, I really wanted to go back to the stock rooted rom. Here is my procedure. Maybe some of the steps were unnecessary, but in the end it worked. No more reboots!
I first went into twrp and wiped cache and dalvik cache. Then I did a factory reset. Then used Odin to load the stock rom. Went into stock recovery and did another factory reset. Then went thru the process of installing the updates. After the updates I rooted then did another factory reset and cleared cache. I had a random reboot shortly after that when I was restoring everything on the tablet. . But that was over 7 hours ago. No more reboots!
Factory reset and staying on stock worked for me. No random reboots since I did this yesterday.

Thought I'd contribute with having the same issue - TabPro 8.4 here (T320).
Stock NG2 ROM, but I was having reboots from NF2 as well.
I'll do a factory reset and try again, see if it helps.

May I ask which rom you went with? I'm experiencing the same problem and am trying to figure out which rom to install in order to get rid of the reboots.
Wiped data, rooted and said no to disabling Knox - no reboots yet!

I tried all that were available. Each has its own strengths and weaknesses. I finally went back to rooted stock because I had a few apps that wouldn't work with the custom roms. Look a few posts earlier about doing the factory resets.
Solution Found
I updated my T520 from NAE to NG1 using Odin and rerooted it with CF method and I was experiencing random reboots. I did tow things:
1. I defrosted the knox notifications in TB (I had disabaled it when super user asked me to...)
2. I went to SuperSU app's settings under cleanup I tapped reinstall and followed the given commands there...
I have not had any reboots since 2 days ago. :fingers-crossed:
I just wanted to share this with those that are having random reboots. Give it a try... hopefully It will work
I flashed scrosler's stockish ROM and also haven't had any reboots in two days according to bootlog uptime. Woot!
As already mentioned, "defrosting" Knox with TB und skiping Chainfires SuperSu notification worked for me on CFrooted stock ROM. No reboots anymore

This appears to have solved my rebooting problem, too.
Another Solution
My T320 was rooted only once with TowelRoot and I disabled Knox when I was prompted and never tripped it. The soft reboots started happening and I searched all over for a solution but cannot remember where I had found talk of it. I haven't had any problems ever since I did it in the middle of July. I installed Xposed Installer and then installed the Samsung Kitkat SystemServer Crash Fix module which apparently was developed for the S4.

My Tab Pro 8.4 Info:
Model Number: SM-T320
Kernel Version: 3.4.0-1263708
Build Number: KOT49H.T320UEU1AND3

[Q] S4 mini reboots

Hello,
I have an I9195 S4 mini that's relatively new, about 3-4 months, but the problem has been there from the beginning. I have sent it to repairs under warranty 3 times now but nothing's changed, so I decided it was time I took the things into my own hands.
The phone reboots while using WhatsApp. I have tried uninstalling all the other apps and nothing changed. So, only when using WhatsApp it restarts, but that's a huge problem for me since i want to use WhatsApp regularly, all day long sometimes.
What's there to do? Flashing a custom ROM?
Thanks in advance.

Well, if u still have warranty on it, you should go there and explain them very well what is happening, that their service did nothing to help you, and that you want this problem solved, you should be taking advantage of your warranty, if it does reboot on a stock rom, then the rom isn't the problem, anyway, if you really want to flash something , try flashing a newer version(if it is available in your country) trought Samsung KIES, you can get the firmware from sammobile.com
The warranty won't help sadly. I've tried it but they can't help. I'd rather have something done myself than them keeping the phone for 20 days and doing nothing.
The version on the phone is xxucnj6. I've found the same one on sammobile, it says it's Russian Black addition 4.4.2.
Do you have any suggestions to what else I should flash ( there's no new updates for S4 mini).
Thanks.

[Help!] Intermittent reboots on COF8 / UniKernel

I upgraded to COF8 about a month ago but have only been experiencing these reboots recently. Not sure what has changed. I tried different versions of UniKernel but same same. I'm afraid it might be a hardware overheating problem, but the phone doesn't even feel hot when it reboots. Very random. I can be using the phone for an hour without a hitch, then run VSCOCam for a minute trying to edit a photo and it will reboot.
I've tried doing a factory reset in TWRP then Odin-flash COF8 and kernel again, but still the same problem.
Any idea?
Thanks.
Anyone?
