Did anyone manage to maintain root after upgrading to Android 4.4? If so, how? On what partition does our SU and recovery reside? I ask this because I can't find the answer and I can't save my preferences in PhilZ recovery either.
It really is an annoying process to reroot this phone.

Is it possible to temporarily root the device without applying a custom kernel? I'm having 4.1.2 woes so I want to factory reset but backup data first. Can it be done?
If not, would rooting prevent me from getting new ota updates? Thanks!

Hi, I have finally just rooted my note 2 and I was trying to flash Jedi X but everytime I'm in download mode it says that is cannot mount the internal sdcard. This probably has an easy solution but idk it since I'm a noob so can someone help me out please?
You need to be in recovery to flash roms not download mode
thats what I ment sry.
What steps did you take before you got that error?

All I did was root using odin than download jedi onto my device then I booted into recovery mode and it gave me the error when I tried to install
Did you ever boot the phone after you rooted it? And you should really make a nandroid before you flash any roms

Its not just saving the data. You really should keep a backup of your devices stock firmware and a nandroid will do that for you
ahh ok but what can I do now to fix my current problam
lol I think I figured it out. My phone was encrypted which did not allow cwm to access my drives.
Edit:...solved

Slimbean have own root. You can see in settings-additional-superuser. Was able to use titanium aftet install. But if you want you can use supersu...

I was wondering whether or not it is possible for me to flash a zip through stock recovery without root access. All I want to flash is the emoji keyboard...I lost my USB cord so I can't root my phone atm...is this possible?
Unfortunately, No.
