Mentioned below is the link of the post related to my battery issues lately.

Since the issue was ever persistent i took my phone to service centre today. He told me to charge the phone after removing memory card (strontium - class 4, 8GB). i don't get it. How can memory card suddenly become incompatible (i can sense a 4-8% speed up in charge since i removed memory card)
And if in real it has become incompatible, which one shall i use for my phone? :banghead:
P.s. (using oem charger of 1.2A output)

I've always stuck with SanDisk. Got a class 10 64gb card formatted in FAT32 and it has worked on every ROM available.
I have noticed that some ROMs don't support ExFAT while the stock ROM didn't work with my 64gb card while it was in FAT32.

I could be wrong here, but don't these new phones with all their 720p, 1080p vids, pics, and cameras support the NTFS file system?
I appreciate your responses, but i am on stock rom, unrooted e988 with class 4 8G exfat MMC.
Sure it would cause battery drain?

The only time I have ever seen problems with an sd card is from a custom Rom, which you don't have. And the card going bad. I have never seen a card cause battery issues. Certain apps cause battery issues. If you recently installed anything new, remove it and see if your battery drain slows down. As far as the card goes, just get a good quality card. Like Neroga, I have never gone wrong with Sandisc cards.
I agree with Cougar

I fear it might be the issue. Have to factory reset but can't do since i got what's app registered on my lost phonr number (that means i cannot register it back on same number once i reinstall it. Not much of a problem except doing a lot of work prior to it, like registering a new number on roaming, etc)
Got to root to install titanium backup but have to get my laptop repaired for that lot of mess i guess. Still finding an app for app's backup and restore for what's app and then will reset my phone to see about it

Been debating whether to setup the apps2sd feature on my phone but after searching about it, not really sure if its worth it from what I gather?
is there any benefit from setting this up?
Also, will there be any negative effect if my SD card is partitioned, and I flash a ROM that does not support apps2sd?
Just thinking ahead. don't want to set my phone up for failure once I get ROM crazy (new to android).
Running DC 3.2.3 btw.
You should have at least a class 6 SD card if you're gonna do it. Basically it just frees up internal memory. You probably won't notice a speed difference on a phone this fast. However, it did improve app loading on my G1. Haven't used it on the EVO yet.

I brought one, formatted it to fat32 and created a partition of 2gb also fat32 using minitool partition so I can use link2sd, but my phone keeps randomly rebooting and apps are force closing, not all the time, but alot of the time, i never had the problem yesterday while using the 32gb sd.
Not sure if i can solve this and is this usual for the 64gb
my phone still keeps rebooting after testing for a few days, at first it's fine but as i gradually try and fill it up to about 21GB now the phone just constantly reboots with force closes and widgets not loading so im assuming 64gb isnt really that compatable, might be worth going back to the 32GB? sd
I have 64gb and have had it for months formatted it to fat 32 via windows I haven't made a second partition though aparantly 1gb is supposed to br max? And are you sure its a real when ever I buy asdcard I always use a program that tests it capacity

Thanks for you're reply, I brought it from amazon directly not a third party, i doubt they would rip me off, i have formatted through the computer and phone using fat32, but i haven't tried it without partitioning it, maybe that could be the problem?
I was able to partition the 32GB to 2GB without any problems but as it's a bigger card it could cause problems, will test it out
How would i test to see if it's real and what would the results show?
I bought mine from amazon also and I used a programe on my computer that i downloaded can't remember what is called but I remember there being a few it took like a hour to test though but I honestl don't know what's up with it you could try not partitioning it for awhile :/ but I have nearly used all the space on my card and experience no problems got about 5 gig left there's also sd tools on the play store or you could try wiping the card completely and starting from scratch :/

I have wiped it and starting from scratch using a 961mb partition just under 1GB as i read it can cause problems hopefully that will sort it if not i will try last resort with no partition, do you have the problem with low internal memory with not having a partition, that's only reason why i chose to do this on my 32GB as i had about 8GB left but i wasnt able to use it.
Nah I don't realy need it I havr 110 mb free and that's with wildblood 52 mb orderandchaos 23mb gangter rio 14mb dolphin browser 14mb and that's the big ones I have loads of games 68 on my play and 200 apps alltogether I do want a second partition but don't have a computer atm does using the second partion makes games run slower and can you move the data aswell as app? And can you movedalvik to sexond partition?
Sent from my R800i using xda app-developers app
I dont notice any difference in games slowing down just the same, it doesn't move all data it just uses the app but where as usually you have the app installed on your internal and the data of the game goes to you're sd, you can have both on your sd, keeps all your space, well thats how it worked on my 32GB with 2GB partition but maybe the 64GB causes problems with bigger partition doing that, i'm not sure about the dalvik catche.
No luck, woke up this morning picked up my phone and bang froze, twice rebooted and force close apps everywhere with my home screen widgets not loading, trying now without partition, last resort, otherwise im back to 32GB
after my conclusion i am still having reboots, trying back the 32gb if it still occurs then it's more serious then i thought.
i have also flashed stock firmwire just to see if that was causing it

Weird. I really don't think I've heard of one of these SD cards acting like that for the Play. SanDisk is normally pretty reliable in general, too.
If interested, I'd trade you a Samsung Class 10 that works great in my Play and has pretty good random read/write speeds as well. Although you'd be better off returning yours for the cash.

I don't mean to be rude or ignarant but how do you use app2sd as i am having no lucky with link2sdor any other low internal storage, i keep wanting to go to my 64gb as 32 wouldnt be enough, i love my games and want a phone full

at the moment it seems the problem is while charging overnight
I'm having the dreaded 'SD Card Unexpectedly Removed' issue. The card seems to work fine in other devices, but my Note 2 cannot deal with it. Mine is a SanDisk 32GB Class 4. It was working fine for weeks, and now all of a sudden, it loses the card every time the phone goes to sleep. Once the phone wakes up, it flashes the warning, then says 'Preparing SD Card', and it works fine until the phone goes to sleep.
I noticed that many Verizon Note 2 users are having the same issue...

Is anyone else seeing this problem?
It did happen to me with my sandisk 32GB class 4 card. I swapped it with a 16 GB card from a 2 year old
moto droid unused in my basement dump and it worked. It has been over 3 wks now and no issues. I dont think it is a device fault but sense that many note 2 users have bumped into this issue lately..something fishy.

I had this problem also. I had 32 gb class 10 sandisk sdcard 1st time I bought this phone. It was working fine for the 1st 3 weeks but after that I got that dreaded message everytime I wake my phone. I thought its my phones hardware but when my brother and I swapped cards, that message never appeared again. I currently have a 16 gb class 10 sd. My brother has tmobile galaxy s2, that message showed after 2 days of using that card. I reformatted that card and checked it for errors multiple times. There was no problem. I dont know probably some samsung phobes have issues about sdcard 32 gb and above. I have read it in galaxy s3 forums also.

I'm actually having a similar problem with my sn2 not reading my 32gb SanDisk card, I'm going to try to reformat it and see what happens. Just got the phone two days ago.
I fixed my problem by installing the new twrp 2.3.2.3 recovery using goo manager. I followed these instructions from the twrp website.
In goo manager tap menu on your phone and hit install openRecoveryScript, tap yes, verify filename displays your devices name and hit yes. The file will download and install on your device, now reboot.
Hopefully this helps people

I'm just gonna throw this out there... It kinda seems like the latest Samsung phones are happily corrupting SD cards right and left. Now, maybe some cards are more susceptible to this, but the fact remains that this is not just anecdotal anymore. We need to get the various phone groups that are seeing this issue to band together and contact Samsung for a fix.

My Sandisk class 10 32gb card died on me too. Went to best buy exchanged for another one, reformat it. ... so far so good.

Mine worked fine for a while, too. I'm not sure what triggered it, but I think the phone did something to it. The reason I think this is simple. I have had many devices with SD cards in them, and never have I had one go bad. This phone was using a card that I had used for months before in another phone, and within a month the card was bad. When I looked online, I found hundreds of cases of the same issue, mostly with Samsung S3 and GN2 phones. It seems too much to be a coincidence.

I am having the same issue. It is with all SD-Cards I try after some time. I have 2 32gb Sandisk class 10 that I tried and a handful of 2 and 4 gb class 4 and class 6 cards. After sometime, 20 minutes to a couple of hours I starting getting the "SD Card unexpectedly removed" Then a quick scanning s Card message. I tried formatting the cards with different computers and even using my Linux machine to see if it would fix it.
Has anyone come up with a solution yet? Should I swap the phone out for another one since I have ruled out the SD-Card as being the problem.
My 14 days hits this weekend and it is easier to get things done at T-Mobile before that time frame expires.
How about card format? All fat32? Exfat?
All fat32 for me. Phone is stock, holding out on root for awhile so I can learn why Touchwiz is so hated.

curious about this as well.
you guys not having problems, you format exfat??/ what is the difference between exfat and fat32?
I tried ExFAT, but the phone did not recognize it at all.
I wonder if anyone has had this issue with a Samsung brand card?
Swyped from a hand-held Galaxy.
Im getting the same problem with my 32 gb sandisk sd card but luckily amazon is still willing to exchange it out for me
Sent from my SGH-T889 using Tapatalk 2
I formatted mine to exfat to see what would happen. I checked online and this phone supports exfat natively. I moved my files back on to the card after the format and then tossed it in the phone and it worked. It has been over an hour and still has not removed itself unexpectedly.
Will report back in tomorrow after I give it some time to settle.
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda premium
It is still removing itself almost everytime the phone goes to sleep. The last time it actually unmounted and tols me it was safe to remove the sd card when I woke the phone up.
What cards are people running? I have 2 I am testing this with:
SanDisk ultra 32GB SD-HC U1 (comparable to class 10), 1 is formatted to exfat and is half filled with mp3's, the other is fat32 and half filed with mp3's.
The mp3's are different on each card, I have a folder of music that I always throw back on the card but thought it might be corrupted so last night I made a new folder and added fresh music to see if that was the issue.
I found the official sd formatter program from the SD Alliance to try. I just formatted 1 of the cards with it and am moving the music back now. It will be a while though. From sd to computer the speeds are 12 to 30 MB/s but from computer to sd it is 2 to 5 MB/s?
Hope to have this figured out by the end of the day.

Someone pointed out that their 32 GB SD card was unrecognized after flashing a ROM with TWRP recovery. I have seen a lot of sd card failure reports on this device. Many more than my old Samsung Epic. So I thought I would throw this poll up to see if it is specific to recovery or still random crap. When you post maybe also state the ROM/Kernel combination you flashed. This all assumes cards are formatted to FAT32. We already know about the XFAT issues with custom kernels.
Thanks
FNM
Ok, first one...
People's ROM 3.08
ktoonsez kernel
TWRP recovery 2.3.2.3
PNY 32gb class 10 sd card
Additionally...There are several already discussed and or documented posts/threads about known "bad" cards...two manufacturers have allegedly acknowledged there was/were bad cards and have been offering warranty exchanges.
For the record, the Samsung 32gb card is very good on both KT and anthrax, never had an issue with it and TWRP.

Any who cwm 32gig I don't recall what version of TPR (not blaming the ROM) I was on when it happened or kernel or from what ROM to what ROM I was going to when it happened. I have done way to much testing LOL
I ended up backing up my card formated with the phone and put my data back no issues since.
Edit: CRAP not even second Naddict donkey punched me to third :silly:
EDIT: Per request manufacture is Sandisk
EDIT UPDATE:
just happened to me again going to put my 16 gig samie in see what happens
I had a Wintec 32GB Class 10 that failed after a CWM backup. It would work again after formatting, but then fail on the next reboot.
I have a 32GB Transcend on CWM and flashed all versions of TPR dozens of times with no issue so it may be more of a manufacturer issue like Naddict said. Please add manufacturer info to posts. Thanks.

My SanDisk 32GB Class 6 card recently started acting up. I was on whatever the latest Blazer is (2.1?). My phone started getting extremely hot and wouldn't scale the CPU down. I figured it might be the extended battery that I was using, but still persisted after switch back to the stock battery.
I just happened to remove the SD card for whatever reason and everything went back to normal. According to my friend who still works at Sprint, he's been seeing a lot of GS3s with failed SD card slots.
So it's possible that the phone is causing the SD card to fail due to a defective slot. I haven't tried using a different SD card yet, but I plan on it, so that I can rule that part out.
So looking like it is not recovery related and possible defects in some phones. It seems it happens most when accessing the sd card in recovery to flash a ROM. Maybe to be safe copy the ROM to internal just to flash then delete after flashing with a copy on your external sd.

32GB Sandisk SDHC class 10 on unrooted stock ICS with no custom recovery. Was definitely a defective card though as I've tried others and they work fine. Just not sure if the phone may have cause it to become defective or not, but the card is completely dead. Unrecognizable in any device.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...rds=32 gb micro sd card&qid=1357770188&sr=8-2
the second card destroyed the sd card reader and i had to get a new phone. I actually attributed this to the heat from from processor directly behind the sd card. After i burned out the third card, i stopped using my otterbox case and have not had a problem since. I think it is all heat related, not recovery.

So I'm having issues with 4.1.2 update.
I was on 4.1.1 rooted with CF-AutoRoot, flashed back to a stock rom, updated OTA, redid CF-AutoRoot.
I don't think CF-AutoRoot is related here, but Im just detailing my steps.
So I noticed that whenever I lock my phone, and then unlock it (even after a few seconds or an hour), the SD card shows as being "remounted" for some reason. Every time. Never used to do this.
So if I'm in camera or playing music, lock the phone, and unlock it - the app will say "Media failed"
In battery, it says Media 49% battery usage.
CPU Total 28m 46s
Stay awake 39m 46s
Includes: Downloads, DRM Protected Content Storage, Media Storage, Downloads, com.sec.android.providers.downloads
Can anyone help? Any recommendations on how to approach the issue? Somehow can I log what apps are using this?
Do you have an app that auto downloads things such as a a podcast app? You can get better battery stats or something to see if it shows you the real culprit.

Very interesting. After doing a lot of Google and reading similar issues, I'm going to try reformatting my card when I get home and will report back if this works. If I force close media then the sd card cannot be used, which may infer some kind of corruption or some garbage

You can probably kiss that card goodbye. The issues you are getting are the issues I was having and many others. I was lucky that I was able to backup stuff to my computer. Within an hour of that, my phone nor my computer would even recognize the card and it was dead at that point. I attempt to reformat the card but it did not work.
I tested the fault by using another Sandisk 16gb ultra that I had and it worked in both devices. Oddly enough I purchased another 32 gb card, same model, and have been trouble free for about a month.
Ever since putting in the new card, the media thing went away. I also froze a DRM process with Titanium Backup but I don't think that had anything to do with the media process taking up a huge chunk of battery.
Test this out by using another card or simply taking the SD card out for a while and see if the media battery sucker is still there.
