@bratusm mentioned tools should really help you but you may still try doing it again once more.
Just remember the sequence:
1. Press and hold the "volume down" button.
2. Press the power button to turn the phone on ("volume down" button must be pressed still).
3. Only when you'll see hboot menu you may release the "volume down" button. =)

[Q]superwipe then restart, now bricked?

I am going to install a new rom, so i superwipe all the things, then when I should choose a new rom to install, I accidentially press the "reboot system". Sign,.....now the phone is bricked? I can't go into the bootloader by pressing the vol down and power.
Even I hold the power button for ten seconds, it just power off and the power on automatically and stay at the htc white screen.
what can i do?
THX.
As soon as it powers off hold vol down as it boots

when i hold power for a few seconds, the virtual buttons blinks for a while, then i immediately press the vol down button, but no use, just the same whilte screen.
No, hold power for 10 seconds to force a reboot. As soon as your phone powers down, press and hold vol down, keep holding and you should enter hboot. It might take a couple of attempts to get it right.

Spot on keep trying we have all been there don't give up you will eventually get into fastboot
How do people not know the basics?? This is simple stuff
Cos they don't read. Although I remember when I first got my desire a couple of years ago, and rooted it, I was crapping myself that I might be killing it, esp as revolutionary and cwm didn't work with the erase size of 40000 I had on mine, (too late, flashed it) oops.. But that didn't stop me reading and searching, all the info is out there people, what ever you do has most likely been done a million times before. (and fixed).

^^^^This.
Only assume your phone is bricked if you can't turn it on, or the bootloader gives you a critical error

Well mine won't turn on, battery is dead, and when I'm able to enter bootloader to check battery voltage I'm not able to charge it beyond 3543 volts or something.
Sometimes the bootloader gives weird errore like memory addresses or denied or something.
What can I do then?
The notification led blinks red sometimes, it never stays permanent red. And the sd sometimes fails as well, when I manage to enter recovery (which is not really often)

I have the same issue and cannnot get into fastboot either. I think it has to do with the fastboot option which was enabled... Is there any way to get into fastboot? Or should i give up trying...?
Press and hold the power button. Once the screen goes off press AND HOLD the volume down button and it'll boot into HBOOT. Then press power once to get into FASTBOOT (or select recovery to go into CWM)

Hi, thanks for your reply. The problem actually is I cannot get into HBOOT. I've tried about 50 times, the only thing which displays is the brilliant HTC logo screen. I notice when I hold the powerbutton the softkeys are flashing 6 times before it goes black... When it goes black i'll press and HOLD the VOL DOWN key, but still no hboot

Keep pressing power button+volume down untill it gets into bootloader.
Don't let go at any point.
Just hold them pushed TOGETHER for as long as it takes. You WILL get into bootloader or else I'm afraid something is broken...

Is this problem called as 'bricked'..?? oh..come on..

Can't boot into HBOOT

I haven't done this for a while but used to do this 100s of times.
I have a stock HTC rom installed without root. It is an experimental version of 2.3 that was never released.
I'm holding down the volume down button and pressing power. When I release the power button it boots normally into standard home screen.
I tried with the back button and the same thing happens.
Has anyone ran across the same problem?
Is there anyway I can boot into HBOOT without the volume down button and no root? Any apps which might help me to do that?
Thanks
afaik you press and HOLD those two buttons until the phone goes on.
Your volume down might have become faulty.
To go to fast boot mode press and hold "back key" while power up. From there press power key once more to go into hboot mode.

I think the volume down button works because when the phone is on i can control the call volume using this button. I also tried the back key to boot into fast boot but that doesn't work.
I hold the two buttons indefinitely. It's only when I release the power buttons that the phone starts booting but always boots into normal mode.
Any other ideas? thanks.
Lol try hold volume up + power

Awww damn!
I guess the only other thing I could try is to flash a different RUU.
Does anyone have a link to the stock Froyo RUU? Would flashing it over a stock GB rom work or wuold it complain that the HBOOT version is different?

I want to install an ICS Rom. So I need to root.
To root I need to install the custom HBOOT drivers otherwise unrevoked doesn't pick up the device.
In order to install the custom HBOOT drivers I need to be in HBOOT with USB connected. Is there any other way?
K, does ur volume buttons work when phone is booted? If so, turn off the phone then pull the battery out for 10- 15 seconds then put back in, then press and hold volume down and press power button (while holding vol down) it should boot bootloader
Also make sure in
settings/power
That fast boot is not checked (if u got that option)

Wicked! Thanks!
Removing the battery made the difference. It seems that I have to remove the battery every time after power down or when I powers up it skips HBOOT. Nonetheless it works!

Hold the power button and the volume - button together as long as it takes to reboot into the bootloader. Once you are in there ....tell us what you see ? Write it down here

[Q] HTC Desire start-up problem

Hi.
So, today I have met with start-up problem. During the normal using my phone, everything had been suspended, so I pulled out the batterry. And my phone hadn't been managed to start again. Only what I can see is the animation of evervol (I have had this kind of rom for about a year - old version of it :/ ). I tried booting by pressing dwn vol but, and power button in the same time...BUT... I know that I have the damaged vol button (only up vol but is working)... so it couldn't have worked anyway...
Do you have any ideas, how I can force on him to enter the boot menu or to start normally? From some kind of computer programme or what??
I really dont want to lose anythink from him... but if it will be necessary I would have no more objections against...
Press and hold back button + power and that will boot u into fastboot then u can get into recovery from there.

Volume up? Why did you use volume up instead of volume down to go to bootloader?

Hold Vol-down and then press Power button while Vol-down is still pressed. You may release Vol-down button a bit later (even when you will see HBoot screen).
It may be required to repeat the same steps if Volume button is not working well. This really happens when a phone is heavily used.
