[Q] gap between display glass and bezel - G Pad 8.3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
are these gaps between the display glass and bezel normal? I'm about to return my G Pad because of them.. noticing them more and more.
Could someone take some pics so that I can compare?
thanks in advice

Did you buy it from Newegg? I did and the first one (white) had gaps. The replacement (white, again) just arrived and I am noticing few gaps but not as bad as the first tablet. Went into Bestbuy to check out the white version they had on the display - same problem.
I am going to use a case anyway. Does anyone think this will cause a problem later? Appreciate your thoughts..

Bought it from amazon (DE). In some reviews you can also see this gaps, so it's quite normal i think.

NORMAL

It is normal, i think it the way to remove the back cover and separate it from the front panel, so it is fine, if you haven't hit it.

[Q] Removing LG branding

Hi,
Now that Google is offering a Google Play edition of the G Pad, I'm thinking of picking one up. I have one issue with it though: the LG branding on the front and back of the device. Maybe I'm just weird, but the clean look of the Nexus devices is one of the primary reasons I like them so much.
The G Pad branding on the other hand, is quite noticeable, especially on the front. So, has anybody tried to get rid of it? Maybe by trying to rub it off with nail polish?
Thanks!
most nexus are asus and the next nexus seems to be a lg, why does the brand bothers you so much? The lg brand is behidn the glass in the front side so polishing it is out of question

Yeah I was afraid the branding on the front would be behind the glass. I don't know why it bothers me so much, I just love the clean look of devices without it .
Anybody tried to remove the branding on the back?
the back brand is printed uppon the aluminium case so polishing this will leave a white mark like you have scratched it i think

Don't know about that.. The beats audio branding on my HTC One (silver) is coming off and the aluminium looks normal.
Not sure about the black version.

Careful, you might get banned for lack of respect.
Just hit the glass logo with broad point black sharpie marker. Little alcohol will take it off if you need the LG back

It is a known problem, many others have it also including me. Take a look at the thread below
http://forum.xda-developers.com/elephone-p8000/help/survey-aboout-display-clouding-p8000-t3286253
Therefore, there're no solutions towards that issue? Like disassembling it and try to take out this vapour; from what I've been told it is. The branded phone has amoled screen which is protected by a gel which prevents this types of vapour residue.

I am no expert. From what I have managed to gather is that it is a design fault, unlike a monitor or a tv screen where this issue can be fixed it is not possible on the p8000. Some people have brought a new display just for it to happen again!!
This will probably be my first and last elephone.
Have same problem in top left and bottom right. I ordered a silicone cover and it covers it up well.
Doesn't fix the problem I know but it's a work around.

Broke Nexus 5x screen :(

Yesterday I dropped my phone while on call from the ear to floor(~6 ft). I think it hit a stone at top right corner near front camera. The screen is shattered and crack propagated from the corner to the entire screen. The frame is also damaged a bit. Even though everything works fine fortunately, using the phone is uncomfortable as I have to strain myself to read.
I wanted to change the display manually and saw some videos. It looks like 'can be done'. But I cant find original LG screen online anywhere. I contacted the service centre and they replied it would cost 7200/- INR (109 US$). I personally opt original screen because of the screen calibration.
What to do? Can you guys suggest something?
Thanks.
I use these guys.

Polarized display on the Redmi Note 5 Pro

Hi,
Because I just got a pair of polarized sunglasses, I have discovered that the display on my RN5 Pro seems to be polarized. While this sounds good, the practical effect is that if I hold my phone vertically while wearing my sunglasses, I can't see the screen at all. I can only see it if I hold the phone horizontally.
Is this something that is physically part of the display? Is there any option to change/rotate or turn off the polarization? Any ideas?
Thanks!

I noticed the same thing and was not pleased. I have no idea how the physics works but after putting on a glass screen protector it works just fine...

Thank you!
And now you can see the screen with polarised sun glasses?
Amazing!
Ho, I was about to ask a similar question, that a coincidence
The fact is, the redmi note 5 ha a polarized filter (like all LCD panels) oriented at 90° from the one of other smartphone I had (nexus 5X, Redmi note 4, etc.). As per consequence I can't see anything in portait mode but it's all clear in landscape, witch is terrible for car use.
If a screen protector can mitigate this issue, it worth the try

Hi All,
I put a cheap glass screen protector (a dollar or two from ebay) on the phone, and the problem disappeared. It would be interesting to learn the physics behind it, but practically, all you have to know is put any kind of glass screen protector on and the issue goes away. And you keep the phone looking good. So bonus.
Thanks for the discussion, everyone.

Today I put glass protector (cheap) but the problem did NOT disapper. This is very frustrating for me. Maybe I must search to another kind?

Exactly the one I ordered. You can see my result in the picture.
Edit: I have stopped using the protector, mainly because it would get smudged very easily.

Yeah it worked good for polarized problem. Maybe this full body protector use a different glass than this i.e.: https://www.amazon.it/Ferilinso-Xia...749688&sr=8-1&keywords=pocophone+screen+glass
---------- Post added at 12:56 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:55 PM ----------
But we need to know which @Misho2bg has purchased
I have discovered that my redmi note 5 is polarized vertically, while another redmi note 5 i bought for my girlfriend, is polarized horizontally. Strange

Pixel 2 XL screen repair (HELP!)

Hi all. I've had un unfortunate phone drop last night, resulting in the glass of the screen broken in the lower left corner. The screen is displaying perfect and so the digitizer. I've seen some sellers on amazon selling the glass only with no digitizer nor display. Can anyone let me know if this can be changed (glass of the screen only), and if so, any tutorials or videos to do so?
I really dont want to spend more than $100 on a new screen...
I hope someone helps! Thanks!!! Cheers.

I dropped my Pixel 2 XL in November, also only the glass was broken.
But I paid €180 for the glass plus screen, because the screen is razor-thin and glued to the glass. As far as I know, the glass isn't sold separately, at least not as original from Google.
And believe me, the glass is very thin, but the screen is even thinner. So before buying a third-party-glass, I would check how to get the screen off the glass and back again.
I've been looking for some videos about this, and it looks really complicated to separate the glass from the screen, but possible. Some guys apply extreme cold or heat to unglue the screen, then they clean up ALL the screen, and then they reapply something to stick it to the new glass (I don't know what they use). So balancing the hard work to do this, I'm starting to think it will be a better option to change the whole screen. Do anyone knows if new purchased genuine screens comes with the blue problem solved? Any good place to purchase a genuine one within USA?
Thanks for the answers and help...
