[Q] using smaller battery - Samsung Galaxy W I8150

Hi, So my battery is broken. it only last for around 1 hour after fully charged even when using stock rom. so i replace the battery with samsung galaxy ace s5830 battery that i found in my house, the capacity is smaller (1350mAh). is it okay if i use it? or it will cause hardware problem in the future? thanks in advance

Always try to use the battery made for your device only!
Less reading batteries will not give sufficient power to specific hardware and hance you'll end up in a damaged phone, so i will suggest to buy a new fresh battery.

[Q] Use two different Batteries

Hi beloved Defy users (you may decide yourself, who is beloved )
I just asked myself if it is a bad idea to use two different batteries, e.g. always or often drain one battery and then use the other (for me this is not an odd situation, if you think about camping or long trips with GPS).
So, the question is, what about those somehow built-in battery-calibration-algorithms of the Defy, or in general of such devices? Will they get a blow on their head when one batterie (the 5$ one from ebay, you know, those explosives) is behaving totaly different from the other (stock) one?
Is there a possibility to manage different batteries without getting wrong percentage-estimations? Or am I overestimating the whole situation?
Have a nice weekend
Johannes
wipe battery stats in recovery, menu advanced.
And this forum is for development, you should post this in general.
Oops, sorry, I intended to. I hope some mod will move it
Wiping the battery stats with each change isn't gonna be usefull, as changing the battery after each cycle would mean having no stats at all.
Sorry to revive this old thread mates, I should post a new thread but I think it is better to stick on this and just ask the same plain noob question for the experts to answer..
And since there's no concrete answer yet to this situation I think I still need to ask again if there will be an issue if I will be using two batteries at the same time due to somewhat long journeys or long time playing of music while on the road so I really need some extra battery just in case my stock batt. will got drain which 100 percent I know will..
Well I hope someone got some input about this..
How about a 2in1 battery?
And by 2in1 battery i mean a big, massive battery that you could buy along with a new back cover for it. I have seen in some videos that smartphone users often prefer to use a big bulky battery that offers more energy than to use 2 batteries. I would do so myself.
well I am on ICS right now, perhaps the battery bug won't occur on this ROM so perhaps changing from another batt from time to time won't confuse the system.

silly. as soon as you get one of the huge batteries, you will want to use the stock one as a back up, and back to the original question
So, do i still have to worry about reset battery stats after the phone die with the big battery inside and i start it up again with the wimpy stock one?
And is there any issue with using the phone turned OFF to charge one battery after the other?

[Q] Battery

Hi Im looking forward to buy this phone but there's something keeping me from doing it, I don't live in the US, I live in Venezuela so I have to buy the international version and I cannot return it if something goes bad with the battery, I know that the battery of this phone is none removable so I wante to ask: Do you guys consider this to risky? or is it very unlikely that battery gets damaged? for some reason they made it none removable so my first guess is that battery won't suffer from anything so what do you guys think?
Thanks
Go for it. It's not risky. The battery will obviously degrade over time like all batteries do (you'll start to see signs after a year and a half), but it's easily replaceable if you have the right tools. When your battery does start to show signs of degradation, you can order a spare battery and case opening tools online and replace it yourself. There's a thread here about the One X+ battery being compatible with the One X. So you can even get that and put it into your One X international version to get more capacity.
After two years that the battery will completly drain you will bought a new phone
As I mentioned above sashank, there is no risk (i have the phone 8months without any problem in battery).
The phone at this time with help from XDA (ROM-TWEAKS-MOD-etc) just rock.:good:
If HTC some day finally release kernel source for jelly bean with custom kernel battery can get more time.

[Q]i9192 no unrecognizing 3800mah battery

Hi,Guys,
I got a new 3800mah extented battery for my I9192, but it did not work well on this model.
First, after charging it to 100%, and put it in normal using and discharging, it will drain down to 0, and reboot ,then you will find the battery is still having 53% (sometimes 49 or 50%), ok ,then keep using it to 0%, sometimes it really uses up the battery, but sometimes it will reboot as the first time, and with 13-30% volume there. It drives me crazy! Even though the entire volume is close to 3800mah, but you just don't know which time is its last run, so you might face : it really drains out, and cannot wake up and function itself. ( I have tried to recalibrate the battery % many times ,or delet the batterystats.bin.....no use at all).
So is there anyone who knows how to amend whatever.apk or some files in system , which controls the cellphone to give the wrong infor of battery? Someone who has i9190 does not face this problem!
Thanks a lot!
Jason
anyone who has the same problem with unrecognizing extended battery?
where did you get your battery?
link?
I think could be defective or fake

Ι don't think you can make it work....every manufacturer has a small capasitor or resistance in the battery which is telling the device if it is the right battery. Many batteries that comes from China do not include that or they have some difference so phones can't exactly know the real info of the battery. That information gave me one technician from a mobile service center. But some of them work perfect because they are a very good copy of the geniune.

Thanks, but the answer from seller is either i9190 or i9195 , both work fine with this 3800mah battery. How come i9192 won't work? Someone said it could amend system file, but cannot be approved yet....

if its just a capacitor or a resistance you could disasembly both batteries and look for that and swap it

It's not that simple....do you now anything about smd? They are very small and very difficult to solder them...besides most of them are inside the cells of the battery...you could destroy the battery. I wouldn't recommend it.

its not that easy or something I have done, but in theory it's possible could be dangerous but possible.
now i remember a mod about soldering two batteries in parallel to get double the capacity someone have a link to that?

Replacement or extended Battery?

Ok, so I know it's possible to pop the back cover off and access the battery if one really had to.
I'm curious to know where one could order replacement Galaxy Note 8.0 batteries, or even if it's possible to put in a larger capacity battery?
Anyone have any info / suggestions on this?
possible battery replacement for note 8.0

chack this site out
http://www.mugenbattery.com/
have contacted this company, they said they are currently developing battery for note 8, and should have updates on the site in December sometime
So far I would not even think of updating to a bigger battery. Not one of the extended batteries are slim enough to utilize a case.
I get 8 hours + easy doing a lot of OS mods (rebooting) and installs of apps. I am sure I'll get 9 hours easy. Have not tested running back to back movies for finding out battery life under such conditions.
Also to prolong batteries always run the battery down before charging, Li-ion batteries do have a memory! I always keep my battery powered devices powered until I need to go about on the run.

Really? What about the reports you shouldn't charge your battery beyond 80% or let it discharge below 20%

[Q]Whats the best Battery for the Xperia Arc S?

Hey
Since the stock battery of the Xperia Arc S lasts just like ~8 hours for me, im looking for a better one
Are there any better batterys, which also fit into the stock case , which you guys can recommend me for me?
Also how expensive/cheap will that be?
Sorry for my english, im not a native speaker
Please use the stock battery, if you need more just purchase a portable charger. Cannot guarantee that other battery will not explode or malfunction so use original battery only.

Mugen Power Batteries are known to be quality ones. Though keep in mind, the battery gauge will not function properly with extended battery, because the stock battery capacity is hardcoded in kernel and no working solution to that hasn't been found yet.
The battery will just go from 100% to 1% (real capacity 100% to 50%), then it will stay on 1% until battery is empty for real. There have been claims, that reboot resets battery to 50% if the real capacity is also 50%, though it depends on the battery and your usage.
hardcoded capacity
I think the hardcoded capacity wont be a problem for me since im using a custom kernel ;D
Also im not able to find any mugen battery for the arc s, could you link me to one?

And just having a custom kernel won't help.
I've heard alot of good stuff about Mugen powers 4000mAh battery for Arc S but I haven't tried it out myself. It's quite expensive, but I guess it's worth it.

A custom kernel will definitely help, but you have to sync sources yourself and then change a file which sets the battery capacity and then compile.

What I meant (badly phrased ), was that just grabbing a custom kernel from development section will not help.
One has to download the kernel sources, do the required modifications to the battery gauge and then test it.
User iridaki has tried that, so you might want to check this topic as well - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1521597

Well those muagen batteries look good but the way they fit into the phone is just ugly
Isnt there any good battery which also fits into the stock case, so that my arc s wont loose its beauty?

Don't be greedy... You either take longer battery life or a phone with "beauty".
Your choice.
