[Q] Softbricked Gio - Samsung Galaxy Gio GT-S5660

Hello,
My Gio got stuck in a bootloop after I did a factory reset.
I wiped the System, Data, Cache & Dalvik Cache using CWM. I also installed Samsung Kies.
Then I tried to unbrick it on my Windows 7 PC using Odin, but it didn't recognize my phone..
I also tried OneClick Unbrick but it failed. I think it's because it didn't recognize it either, which would be odd, because Heimdall did detect my phone.
I was gonna try to unbrick it on my Windows 8 laptop too, but as soon as I plugged my phone in a message popped up saying it couldn't recognize it
Can anyone help me please?
Thanks

If you wipe system, you have to flash a rom after it. So, just flash a rom via cwm and the bootloop should be gone...

Wiped System?
/system partition contains the ROM so it means that you formatted your rom partition. Just flash a new rom as jkoetsier said!!!

Solved
I flashed Cyanogenmod and it worked:good:
I guess the stock roms I tried to flash before weren't legit
Anyway, thanks waqaswasil & dankje jkoetsier

Ok if you can access recovery then get out the sd card and put it in another working phone then add few more default ROM-s and try them till it's boot.because maybe problem is kernel and you dont know what kernel is in there.
Or just try to flash an other proper kernel.

First of all, don't post questions in the development section, to answer your question, read the guides and stickys which should have been your first port of call.
no real need to put sd card in another phone.
just boot into cwm, goto mounts and storage. and look for something like mount USB storage.
and voila, your sd card will appear on your pc.
p.s try wiping /system from mounts and storage and flashing rom again

First if you want a custom rom on your phone, you will probably need a custom kernel ass well . Kernel is the bios for your phone and rom the OS. Go to the Rom thread and read there witch kernel is recommended for that rom. After flashing the kernel, go to CWM (Recovery) and flash the custom Rom and finally flash the wifi modules associated to that kernel.
CM based Roms does not work at all with stock kernels, they have their own kernels.
If you want a recommendation (for Kernel, Rom, baseband) look in my signature, you have links included !
Don`t forget the procedure for installing custom Rom (wipe everything : factory default, /system, /data, /dalvik) and only after wiping all install the rom.
Problems (assumed):
1. Locked bootloader
2. Didn't flash kernel
Fixes:
1. Unlock bootloader
2. Flash kernel via flashtool.

Operations with data failing! Bricked!?

Hi! Today I got semi-bricked Note II. I flashed WanamLite 2.0 and afther that I restored my appz through titanium backup. I played games 20 min, my phone is suddenly rebooted. Now I cant restore my nandroid backup, it success restore /system, but when it start to restore data - recovery shutdown! Same if I try to wipe data - wiping... black screen and reboot. After that I see Samsung Galaxy Note II and Samsung ROM bootanimation. And it stuck. (
What I need to do? Thank you!

Now phone booted from nandroid backup successfully and without troubles, recovering boot and system successful. Restoring /data ... black screen. Reboot. But when I try to wipe data my recovery turns off. Ofc it didnt wipe it. Also I tried PhilZ and Chenglu recovery and same results.
Whats problem? What I need to flash to restore /data partition? Where I can download Rescue ROM or 3-file (PDA PHONE CSC) stock firmware? Will it help? Thx!

I'm experiencing this issue as well.
CWM keeps rebooting whenever i select "wipe data/factory reset"
I've tried re-flashing a stock rom in ODIN with the PIT file which allows me to boot the phone but it is missing apps like Play Store. After flashing a stock rom, I've tried flashing CWM via ODIN to wipe but the same problem of reboot on wipe data still persist.
I've also tried superwipe script and the factory reset from Settings but the phone hangs in all cases.

So there is no way to fix it? Why it persists? Please!
I tried to google this problem. I surfing but I couldn't find some results which can help me and guy who tried to help me.
I think it depends not only the software, it can be hardware failure.
hihi, i'm not sure if u had the exact same problem as me. but i accidently managed to fix it.
1. Go to Download mode.
2. Use PC Odin to flash Stock 4.1.2 (PDA slot) + PIT file(PIT slot)(Check re-partition box) from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1896696.
3. Phone reboot into stock rom
4. Switch off the phone
5. Hold power + home + up to enter stock android recovery (3e)
6. Wipe data/factory reset. (somehow the data wipe works in stock android recovery, dont ask me why)
7. Reboot phone
8. Switch off phone and enter download mode
9. Use ODIN to flash CWM tar
After that you can enter CWM and shud be able to wipe as normal. Den you can flash any custom rom that you like as before.
This was how I managed to fixed my phone. try at your risk

Don't sweat, just use ur PC download another rom and mount SD card to PC, transfer ROM to SD card and flash, and did u say u wiped data and cache after flashing a ROM? Noooo wiped everything 3x BEFORE u flash, sooo boot to recovery, wipe data, system, cache and dalvik cache, then flash ROM and reboot, or if asop ROM flash ROM then flash gapps then reboot, and as far as ur backup, what recovery are u using? U should just be able to push restore and the recovery should find the backup by itself, I can help u if need be, pm me

Sorry I wasn't specific enough. The wipe data/cache was not working. It would get stuck at formatting cache.

S2 Not Booting Up

Hey guys, hope you can help me out.
My brother's phone was running a PacMan rom from June; today I decided to find an update for the rom and did so via Goo.im - I believe I definitely downloaded something completely different (I believe I ended up downloading Chameleon...). Being the idiot that I am, I decided to rename the zip file to update.zip and installed it as an update. When I rebooted the phone, it would not boot up past the Chameleon OS screen.
I've tried to do a factory reset and flash a new rom (Pac-Rom) but it does not boot past the CyanogenMod screen.
What can I do? I can still access the recovery.
Thanks!
You need to factory reset , wipe /system, wipe/cache , wipe dalvic cache. Then proceed to flash what ROM you want again

[Q] Is my device bricked? Is there how to fix? Help me, I desperately need your help

I was trying to install android 4.4 (kitkat) on my T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S III (SGH-T999L) and accidentally deleted the back-up I had just created. While trying to flash the new ROM, I get the "status 7" error. I also tried the "toggle signature verification", but still the same error. In the tutorial of how to make it I had followed the instruction and had, perhaps as mistake now, formatted all data on the CMW menu (cache, system, data/factory reset, dalvik cache) I had my device hacked, and previously installed Clockwork 6.0.4.5.
I am stuck on boot screen.
My flash count says 5?
I do not know if this helps address any further help, but in the mount/unmount menu I have;
cache is mount
system in not mount
data is mount
storage/sdcard1 is mount
Flash your firmware with Odin. Should take care of that.
Thanks. Working now. Seems like I installed the kernel? And it worked.
